Joey Badass Poses With His Recently Won Oscar

The Academy Awards returned for the 93rd annual ceremony this past April, and during the awards show, the Hip-Hop community won big when Joey Bada$$ walked away that night with an Oscar for his work in the role of Carter James in the critically acclaimed short film Two Distant Strangers.

Hip-Hop enthusiasts likely remember that Eminem and Three 6 Mafia were some of the first Hip-Hop acts to win Oscars, but in contrast to his predecessors, Joey Bada$$’s recently won Oscar was awarded for his acting skills. Months later, it looks like Joey’s Oscar has finally arrived.

In a new Instagram post, Joey Bada$$ shared a flood of six new pictures that featured him posing with his shiny new trophy. In addition to dropping a bevy of trophy emojis, the B4.DA.$$ rapper wrote, “THE EGOT #oscarboy.”

While Joey Bada$$ still has to win an Emmy, a Grammy, and a Tony award to properly proclaim himself an EGOT winner, the Brooklyn-born rapper is definitely well on his way, considering his activity as an artist and an actor.

Iggy Azalea Vouches For Britney Spears: “She Is Not Exaggerating Or Lying”

Britney Spears has been sitting high on the headlines this week after coming forward about her overbearing conservatorship. All week, the biggest stars have been speaking up to support her, including Disney co-stars Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake, as well as icons like Mariah Carey. The latest to speak up for Britney is rapper Iggy Azalea.

When the two stars collaborated on the hit “Pretty Girls” back in 2015, Iggy spoke up about the unusual rules of Britney’s team. In 2016, Iggy told the Independent UK that she had to have her house checked by Britney’s security before the star was allowed to come over. She stated, “they came and checked my place to make sure I wasn’t trying to stash anything weird and, like, get it to her or something…to make sure I wasn’t a bad influence. And I’m not. I passed the test!”

Iggy faced hate in June for not publicly speaking up out about her collaborator’s arrangement. Fans came to her defense and pulled out the receipts dating back to the 2016 article mentioned above. Iggy herself tweeted out a lengthy response including, “Britney has said in her own words, she’s embarrassed to even share this with the world. If she needed me to speak on her behalf, that message has been delivered to her.”

On Wednesday, she shared yet another statement of solidarity on Twitter, including, “I personally witnessed the same behavior Britney detailed in regards to her father last week and I just want to back her up & tell the world that: She is not exaggerating or lying.”

Mac Miller’s Brother Calls Out MGK Over New Movie: “F*ck You”

Machine Gun Kelly will star in an upcoming movie about the life of a troubled musician, called Good News. The film is reportedly based on the lives of Mac Miller, Pop Smoke, Lil Peep, Juice WRLD, and other artists. Good News was written and directed by Tim Sutton and there isn’t currently a release date announced. Despite the initial excitement about the film online, Mac Miller’s brother has spoken out, calling out the people involved with the movie and asking them to change the title.

Miller McCormick, the brother of the late Mac Miller, posted a story to Instagram where he seemingly bashed the creators of Good News, including Machine Gun Kelly and the director. “Fuck you, fuck your movie, at least change the title,” he wrote online.

“Good News” was the title of the first posthumous single from Mac Miller, concentrating on the rapper’s difficulty dealing with negative themes in his life. It was included on Circles, the posthumous album from Miller. The title of the film is a stark reference to Miller’s life and the rapper’s family is seemingly unhappy with the upcoming movie. Read what Miller McCormick had to say below.

Do you think they should change the title?

Find Azalea’s post below.

“Its basic human decency to at the very least remove a person Britney has identified as abusive from her life. This should be illegal.

During the time we worked together in 2015, I personally witnessed the same behavior Britney detailed in regards to her father last week and I just want to back her up & tell the world that: She is not exaggerating or lying.

I saw her restricted from even the most bizarre & trivial things: like how many sodas she was allowed to drink. Why is that even Necessary?

Her father conveniently waited until literally moments before our BMAs performance when I was backstage in the dressing room & told me if I did not sign an NDA he would not allow me on stage.

The way he went about getting me to sign a contract, sounded similar to the tactics Britney spoke about last week in regards to her Las Vegas show.

Jamie Spears has a habit of making people sign documents while under Duress it seems, and Britney Spears should not be forced to co-exist with that man when she’s made it clear it is negatively impacting her mental health.

This is not right at all.”

6ix9ine Explains Why He’s Not Giving His Homeless Dad Any Money

It’s not uncommon to see Brooklyn rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine handing out hundred-dollar bills to his fans around the world. Every time he makes a trip to another country, he makes sure to spend time with his fans, often sharing videos of himself handing money to children and their parents. Despite the controversy that follows him around, as well as his disturbing comments made on social media, 6ix9ine has proven to be pretty generous with his wealth. His biological father would disagree with that much, though.

The rapper’s estranged father, named Daniel Hernandez (like the rapper himself), revealed this week that he has been living inside a homeless shelter, publicly asking his son to step up and give him some money. 6ix9ine isn’t budging though, explaining during a chat with DJ Akademiks that he will not be giving any money to his father, who he accused of abusing drugs.

“Everybody knows I was abandoned at birth. Everybody knows that my biological father abandoned me at birth,” explained 6ix9ine. “Right now, he’s in a shelter smoking crack. The story of me not giving money to a crackhead who abandoned me at birth is getting more publicity than the positive things. Why? Because it’s a trend to hate me.”

Hernandez was present at 6ix9ine’s trial a few years ago, asking the judge to go easy on him before he was released from prison. The rapper wasn’t appreciative though. “[He was] trying to help me for what?” said 6ix9ine. “So I could be free and give him money? The narrative will always be, let’s make Tekashi 6ix9ine like the worst human being in the world but [they] just look at it the way [they] want to look at it.”

Listen to 6ix9ine’s explanation below, as well as his father’s message.
