Matthew McConaughey Says America Is “Going Through Puberty” In July 4th Video

Renowned actor and a potential candidate for the next governor of Texas, Matthew McConaughey shared a patriotic message with his followers in honor of the fourth of July, on Twitter. McConaughey said that America is currently going through it’s puberty phase.

“Happy Birthday, America. Yes, indeed,” he said in a two-and-a-half-minute video clip.

“As we celebrate our independence today, as we celebrate our birth as a nation, the day that kick-started a revolution to gain our sovereignty, let’s admit that this last year, this trip around the sun, was also another head-scratcher,” he continued, referencing the COVID-19 pandemic, which he has discussed at length before.

“But let’s also remember that we’re babies as a country,” the actor continued. “We’re basically going through puberty in comparison to other countries’ timeline, and we’re going to go through growing pains. We are going through growing pains. This is not an excuse, this is just the reality, and this is good, because we got to keep learning, we got to keep maturing, we gotta keep striving, we gotta keep climbing, we gotta keep building. And we gotta make sure we maintain hope along the way, as we continue to evolve.”

McConaughey is currently polling surprisingly well compared to incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott. A recent poll published in the Dallas Morning News puts the actor just 1% back from Abbot in head to head.

Pro Golfer Shot & Killed After Truck Crashes Onto Course & Opens Fire

Professional Golfer Gene Siller was shot and killed on the 10th hole at Kennesaw’s Pinetree Country Club, Saturday, after a white pickup truck drove onto the course and opened fire.

A witness says Siller saw the car crash into a sand trap and approached the vehicle to investigate when the driver fired several shots.

“Then nothing went on, and immediately members reacting like ‘I think there might be gunshots’ and then apparently somebody was down on the ground,” he recalls. “Then it was kind of like a frenzy, everyone was trying to figure out what was going on.”

After finding Siller’s body left on the 10th hole, police investigated the truck which remained in the sand trap. Inside they found the two bodies, both dead from gunshot wounds.

Siller has been competing in the Georgia PGA Section since 2007.

“Tragedy has stricken the Georgia Section PGA in the loss of our Member, Gene Siller,” Georgia PGA said in a statement on Twitter. “Thoughts and prayers for his family and the Pinetree Country Club family.”

Siller is survived by his wife and two children. A GoFundMe has raised over $160,000 for his family.

“We are asking for donations to help Gene’s precious family in this terrible time of need,” the GoFundMe reads. “Please keep Gene’s family as well as his Pintree family in your prayers.”

GZA Teams With Louis Vuitton For “Liquid Swords (Amen Break Version)” Visual

Hip-Hop legend GZA has partnered with Louis Vuitton to drop “Liquid Swords (Amen Break Version)” on Friday. The visual is a reference to his 1995 album, Liquid Swords.

“The film reflects on a historic moment in Black art and culture when electronic music and hip hop emerged like twins from the same egg, and trickled into every part of the globe,” Louis Vuitton says of the film.

The film was also worked on by Virgil Abloh, Benji B, and director Mahfuz Sultan. Lupe Fiasco, Saul Williams star in the piece opposite GZA.

The project also boasts appearances from Goldie, Issa Perica, Caleb Femi, Unknown T, JIM JOE, Kandis Williams, Thelma Buabeng, Octavia Burgel, Julian Eugene Tsukasa Williams, Damian Eugene Nagisa Williams, Shabaka Hutchings, Malik Le Nost, and more.

The classic GZA title track has been remixed by numerous hip-hop legends such as Mos Def and Rapsody. The song borrows its name from the 1993 film Legends of the Liquid Sword, a martial arts film with a story written by Gu Long. The teachings of martial arts are a common theme in GZA’s work.

This isn’t the first time Joe’s referencing the pandemic with a song, however, he’s far less likely to receive backlash for the new track. Back in March, he caught flak online for calling COVID-19 the “Wuhan Virus.”

“Track me in and out of court, Harvey Weinstein/Threw that white up in the pot, gave em pipe dreams/And watch it spread like the Wuhan virus/Do em dirty for the low like Wu-Tang Sirus (ODB),” he rapped in the controversial bars.
