Issa Rae Says She’s “Running” With It After Fan Mistakes Her For Naturi Naughton

Issa Rae’s looks are often brought up by the public at large, but this time Issa was the one to control the conversation.

After clapping back at a troll who called her “unattractive”  in May, it is nice to see the award-winning actress deal with some commentary that (seemingly) had no foul motive.

On the Fourth of July, Issa Rae got mistaken for someone who she does not look like at all, aside from skin tone. Issa tweeted out “Man got out of his car to ask if I was in POWER. Apologies in advance to Naturi, because I’m running with this”, adding her signature humor to the situation. Naturi retweeted the post in response.

Fans couldn’t get enough of the mix-up across social media. Even Power‘s creator got in on the fun, tweeting back at Issa, “If you wanna play Tasha’s sister just let me know. I bet she got a lotta questions she wants to ask Tariq….”

Issa Rae is beginning to move away from her HBO series Insecure and head onto new ventures. The show that launched her career wrapped up production for the final season in June.

The 36-year-old has many moves in the works from a series with City Girls, to starring as Spider-Woman in the upcoming sequel to the Oscar-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Check out some more fan reactions to Issa’s tweet below.

There’s never slowing down or stopping how much attention DaBaby needs. Bow Wow Responds After Soulja Boy Denies Losing “Verzuz”

Soulja Boy and Bow Wow’s back-and-forth continues to brighten up the timeline, even if Verzuz is all done. Last night, Soulja Boy’s episode of Million Dollaz Worth Of Game aired where he, Wallo, and Gillie Da King discussed the true victor of Verzuz. The tweets said Bow Wow won that evening but Soulja Boy said that he felt that was a small minority of viewers whose opinions were being highlighted.

“That’s cap. I ain’t never seen one person that said Bow Wow won,” Soulja Boy replied when Gillie asked about his feelings about fans and publications dubbing Bow Wow the winner. “I didn’t see it. I was looking at the whole Twitter. All I saw was my name. I saw blogs say that he won but you know, they got labels that’ll pay them. They will pay Billboard to put an article out,” he continued in reference to Billboard’s piece covering their Verzuz.

“If you see a blog that said he beat me, obviously it was paid,” he continued. “What the streets said? What the internet said? What the — stop playin’. I ain’t finna sit here and explain myself. That man paid Billboard to post that shit. Bow Wow — Pee Wee, sit your ass down. You know you lost, n***a.”

It didn’t take long for Bow Wow to retort Soulja Boy’s claim. He shared the snippet of the interview on his IG page where he wrote, “Verzuz been over….”

“I don’t know what they putting in that lemonade of yours but it got you a bit delusional. Love you little brother,” he continued with laughing emojis. However, Bow Wow did suggest that there’s a possibility of settling the score once-and-for-all in the second round of Verzuz

“Bro its ok to lose to your big bro. Thats whats suppose to happen. We can run it back if you want,” Bow Wow added.

Soulja Boy later responded but only through a slew of laughing emojis. Perhaps, they’ll end up going 10-for-10 on their tour? Check Bow Wow’s post below.

Dave Announces New Album “We’re All Alone In This Together”

Two years following Dave’s debut, Psychodrama, the U.K. rapper has finally spoken about its follow-up. He took to social media this morning and announced We’re All Alone In This Together, accompanied by its release date and cover art.

Back in March, the Brit Award winner did mention that he intends to start his new project after taking a vacation with Fredo.

Aside from hinting at new material with Stormzy dropping July 9 on his Instagram, Santan has been quiet since releasing a pair of surprise tracks, “Titanium” and “Mercury,” in mid-April. That same month, he was seen with Drake, Giggs, Not3s, as well as Snowfall actor Damson Idris getting dinner out in Beverly Hills. Aside from Drake, these U.K. artists are all constant collaborators, though the Canadian has definitely managed to have his hand in there as well.

After Psychodrama‘s tremendous success and a mysterious wave of silence over the past few years, Santan Dave seems set to put forth a project well worth the wait, especially if those two recent singles have anything to say about it.

Listen to “Titanium” below and let us know if you’re looking forward to hearing We’re All Alone In This Together on July 9.

Meek Mill & James Harden Engage In Tickle Fight While Lil Uzi Vert Breakdances

This past Friday, reports surfaced that Lil Uzi Vert allegedly got into an altercation with fellow artist SAINt JHN, who was having a meeting with Uzi’s ex, Brittany Byrd. Uzi allegedly struck Byrd in the altercation and even pointed a gun at her. Despite these reports, Uzi has remained in the public eye and this past weekend, he was at a party that featured some massive names in the music industry, including Jay-Z, Beyonce, Meek Mill, and more.

One of the highlights of the event was when Uzi went into the middle of the dance floor and began to do a wild breakdance routine. Uzi was cheered on by the crowd which included his girlfriend JT. However, there was one moment that had everyone talking. If you look in the background of the video, you can see Brooklyn Nets star James Harden tickling Meek Mill, who can’t seem to contain his laughter.

This moment stuck out amongst the madness that was going down and Twitter couldn’t help but make some jokes. As you can see below, there were various fans trying to figure out why Harden was tickling Meek in the first place. Not to mention, they were trying to figure out why they would engage in a tickle fight while Lil Uzi Vert, of all people, is breakdancing.

Either way, it was one of those truly bizarre moments that you could only get at one of these massive celebrity parties. Clearly, Meek and Harden are comfortable enough in their friendship to get ticklish in public.

Issa Gold Drops New Album “Tempus”

On the cover art of his new album Tempus, Issa “Solace” Gold describes the project as “a diary.” “It is about the emotions felt while moving through the seasons of life,” he continues. “And the changes we all experience through time. Use it as a mirror.”

An interesting preface, and one that provides a window into Gold’s mindset while creating his latest eleven-track endeavor. Given how deeply personal Tempus appears to be, it’s no surprise that The Underachiever emcee opts to fly solo. Over lush and minimalist production from Chuck Strangers, Two Fresh, Matt Zara, and Boxing Fetish — to whom the album is dedicated, along with Victoria — Issa puts on a clinic of introspective lyricism, which should please fans who have ridden with him thus far.

Overall, Tempus should prove extremely compelling for those who value what Issa brings to the table, as it’s easily one of his most personal bodies of work. Though it might not be as immediate as previous Underachiever releases, it’s an important step in Issa’s artistic maturation and one that feels undeniably therapeutic in nature. Check it out for yourself now, and sound off with your thoughts on Tempus in the comments below.

Ben Simmons Gets Comfy With New Boo Maya Jama At Wimbledon

For the most part, Ben Simmons has had a pretty stressful start to his offseason as numerous fans and pundits have been criticizing him for his poor play in the NBA postseason. As a result of his lack of offense, the Sixers were eliminated in the second round by the Atlanta Hawks, and now, there are questions as to whether or not Simmons will be traded by the team that drafted with the first overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.

While things have been off from a professional standpoint, there is no doubt that Simmons is thriving in his personal life. Today, Simmons was spotted at Wimbledon with his new girlfriend Maya Jama. The two were seen getting affectionate throughout the match and it’s clear that Simmons wasn’t going to allow the noise to get in his way of having a good time.

For those who may not know, Maya Jama is a British tv host who has been linked to Simmons for quite sometime. However, today was the first time they were spotted displaying this much public affection. Clearly, things are going well between the two, and you can’t help but be happy for the Sixers star.

As for his status in Philadelphia, perhaps we will know more, as the summer marches on.

J. Cole Works Out With The Lakers’ Talen Horton-Tucker After Completing His BAL Contract

Although J. Cole’s basketball career is effectively over — for the time being, at least — that doesn’t mean he isn’t staying ready should he be bitten by the competition bug again. Legendary trainer Phil Handy (who goes by @94feetofgame on Twitter) posted evidence of the rapper turned hooper’s commitment to the grind, a video showing off one of the workouts Handy is putting him through alongside one of the trainer’s more successful clients, Lakers player Talen Horton-Tucker, who will begin his third season in October.

The #passion is real, the #work is real, the love for the #game is real and @JColeNC is a real student of the game,” Handy wrote. “Pulled up for a couple of days and got some work in with @Thortontucker … got out of his comfort zone and got better.”

Cole has been open about his basketball dreams since early in his career, using basketball imagery throughout his album artwork and promotions. In 2020, that interest kicked into high gear with the release of Cole’s basketball shoes with Puma. Then, ahead of his most recent album The Off-Season, he announced that he’d be joining the Rwanda Patriots of the newly formed Basketball Africa League. After three games, he completed the terms of his contract and returned home to the US, but that doesn’t mean he’s completely done playing just yet.

Royce Da 5’9 Spoke Fluent Firearm On “Gun Harmonizing”

When the gun talks, what does it say? Years ago, the legendary lyricist Royce Da 5’9 offered up his own translation with “Gun Harmonizing.” Long before Big Shaq offered his interpretation of gunfire with “, Nickle kicked off his Street Hop album with a blistering duet with fellow Slaughterhouse member KXNG Crooked. Being that today is Royce’s forty-forth birthday, it feels appropriate to show some love to one of his many gems.

“Every bullet’s a note, I write with a firing pen, every time that trigger pull, it’s a quote,” he raps, his intensity unmatched. “Inside a booth full of smoke, sniffing lines of that gunpowder, I’m hotter than a pair of boots and a coat / And a turtleneck, the best rapper alive / Could be the best rapper that died, I’m murderous.”

Being that he’s still actively delivering quality material this day, it’s important to revisit some of Royce’s earlier works, as there are certainly many highlights to be found. Though his style has shifted considerably since the days of Street Hop, his piss-and-vinegar approach on this one should delight longtime fans of the Detroit emcee.

Happy birthday, Nickel!

QUOTABLE LYRICS

Every bullet’s a note, I write with a firing pen
Every time that trigger pull, it’s a quote
Inside a booth full of smoke, sniffing lines of that gunpowder
I’m hotter than a pair of boots and a coat
And a turtleneck, the best rapper alive
Could be the best rapper that died, I’m murderous

Aaron Rodgers Gets Philosophical About Packers Drama

Aaron Rodgers seemingly made it clear after last season that he no longer wanted to play for the Green Bay Packers. After drafting Jordan Love in the first round last year, Rodgers felt slighted by the team, and with a lack of weapons at his disposal, it’s clear that things have been bubbling to an unhealthy degree. Rodgers has yet to show up to Packers camp and despite this, the team is adamant that they will not trade him.

Recently, Rodgers spoke to Ben Baby of ESPN where he was given a chance to talk about the situation with the packers and what he intends on doing next. As you will see, Rodgers got pretty philosophical about the whole thing as his statement was pretty ambiguous.

“Sometimes the loudest person in the room is not the person who has all the facts on their side or the truth on their side,” Rodgers said. “Sometimes there’s a lot of wisdom in silence.”

Based on this statement, it seems pretty clear that even Rodgers doesn’t know if he will turn up at Packers camp. The relationship between both sides seems to be fractured, and the Packers are operating as if Love will be their Day One starter. If that is the case, the Packers might be in for a world of hurt this season.
