Toosii & Blxst Spit Bars In XXL Freshman Cypher

The XXL Freshman Cyphers continue to arrive, and today marks the arrival of the second installment. Following the introduction with DDG, Lakeyah, Morray, and Coi Leray, this one features the talents of Toosii and Blxst, who receive a little bit more space to make an impression as the lone two rappers.

Once again taking to an instrumental by Nick Mira of Internet Money fame, west coast emcee Blxst sets it off with the opening verse. “This for the times they ain’t shown no remorse / hundred percent, I’m eagle-endorsed,” he spits. ” Good with the killers, I’m good with the dorks / They just say: “Blxst, get yo’ foot in the door.” It’s a solid performance overall, and one that should please fans of the more traditional lyricism that the Freshman classes have increasingly shied away from

Toosii comes through for the second and final verse, and he occupies the majority of the cypher’s runtime. Weaving his way through a variety of flows, Toosi’s observational lyricism shines as his verse steadily builds to a climax. “Should have told you proceed with caution,” he spits. “Know I’m young, but I hang with the bosses / And somebody like you ain’t sum’ that me and Blxst see too often.”

“You’re the first one that I told when my cousin finally came out the closet,” he continues, as his verse concludes. “You’re the one that told me ‘never love him different,’ never would, but damn that was boss shit.”

Safaree Makes Strong Allegations Against Erica Mena

Erica Mena and Safaree Samuels’ split just keeps on getting uglier. According to TMZ, Safaree has filed legal documents accusing Erica of pouring bleach on his expensive sneakers and trashing his motorcycles, totaling $50,000 in damage.

Safaree is accusing Erica of violating their domestic relations standing order, which limits the couple from harassing each other or damaging one another’s property during the divorce. Safaree says that two days after their divorce on May 23, Erica poured bleach and cut the shoelaces off of his expensive sneakers, which totaled $30,000 in damages. She also allegedly poured paint on two motorcycles, damaging the bikes and getting paint in the exhaust pipes and gas tanks. He claims that security cameras picked up the entire thing, which happened while Erica was eight months pregnant.

Safaree is looking for $50,000 in damages from his soon-to-be-ex-wife. He is also considering pressing criminal charges against Erica.

Lately, their split has been messier than ever. Erica gave birth to their baby, and she says that Safaree has been avoiding her (and the baby). According to her, Safaree has been partying in Miami with other women and has neglected their newborn, who was in the NICU for a few days.

Erica has also been dragged into a non-related drama with Cyn Santana after it was revealed that she allegedly owned a burner account that was used to share hateful messages against Cyn.

Dr. Dre Has Thoughts About T-Pain’s Viral Rant On Unoriginal Rappers

T-Pain famously brought Auto-Tuned vocals to the consciousness of the music mainstream, so he’s somebody who can speak on originality. Indeed, he did just that recently when he drew some attention with a rant he delivered during a Twitch stream, in which he loudly and explicitly shared his frustrations with derivative and unoriginal rappers. He’s not the only one who feels this way, as Dr. Dre has now backed up T-Pain’s rant.

Sharing a clip of the video on Instagram, Dre wrote, “Shoutout to @tpain!! I’m here laughing my f*ckin ass off, but he’s right. I know and feel exactly what you’re saying.”

As a reminder, T-Pain said, “Stop doing that! Do something else, you’re not original! Give me some original sh*t! Stop! Just f*cking do something else! God damn it! Do some different music! We have all the sh*t you’re doing. Lil Uzi Vert is already doing it. Lil Baby is already doing it. DaBaby is already doing it. It’s literally two n****s with Baby in their names that’s already doing all the music you want! Do something else! That’s it! Stop sending me this bullsh*t and then get mad when I don’t like it. Jesus god-damn tap-dancing Christ!”

Ghostface Killah Adds His Touch To Silk Sonic’s “Leave The Door Open”

Ghostface Killah may be one of the best rappers of all time, but rhythm and blues is the genre that really speaks to the Wu-Tang legend. So much so that Ghost even explored his own take on the genre with Ghostdini: Wizard of Poetry in Emerald City, his eighth studio album and arguably the most experimental of his career.

It’s unsurprising to see Ghost continue to express his love for r&b music, this time through a take on Silk Sonic’s runaway hit “Leave The Door Open.” The song was premiered on Hot 97’s Ebro In The Morning shortly after Peter Rosenberg revealed that Ghostface had sent him over the track. Though the song has yet to be made available in an official capacity — “only we have this track,” boasts Ebro — a snippet of the soulful track has hit the internet.

What’s up boo, where you at?” sings Ghost, following Anderson .Paak’s melody. “I’m in the crib smoking grass / Isley Brothers on repeat, I got the food still on so let’s eat / champagne, Mary Jane, cute face, thick frame, tattoo on your ass that say my name / you can come up out the panties don’t explain / I’m baby boy in the kitchen, Ving Rhames.”

Toney gracefully transitions into bar-spitting for the opening verse, his familiar cadence sounding right at home over the vintage production of “Leave The Door Open.” “Strawberry bubble baths, flowers in the bottle,” he raps, setting an intimate scene. “Suede Giuseppe slippers, maid just brought it in the towel / locksmith with a kiss, gave you the keys to my heart / come on down right now.”

As his verse ends, Bruno Mars’ chorus can be heard, fueling speculation that this is an official remix. We’ll have to wait and see, but for now, be sure to check out a snippet of Ghost’s contribution below, as premiered on Hot 97’s Ebro In The Morning.

Michael Blackson Gives DaBaby Advice After 50 Cent Offers To Mentor Him

DaBaby met 50 Cent for the first time this week, accepting a mentee role with the hip-hop legend after studying the G-Unit leader for much of his career. Officially ready to put his fresh game to use, DaBaby appears rejuvenated and excited to begin the next stage in his career. Comedian Michael Blackson has some important advice for him to follow though, telling the rapper not to play with 50’s money at any point during their partnership.

“Somebody I been studying for a MINUTE lent me a few hours of his time today,” wrote DaBaby on Instagram, posing with Fif. “N***as so scared to let me in the room they fucked around & let me end up in the room w/ @50cent. BIG MISTAKE!”

“Last time I was at the same place with 50 I ended up owing him money, DaBaby don’t take no money if ya at the strip club,” commented Michael Blackson, ensuring that the rapper never gets on Fiddy’s bad side. We’ve all witnessed the wrath of “Fofty” and it’s not a pretty sight. Baby would be smart to avoid any money-lending situations with Fif.

Aside from this, it hasn’t been the best publicity week for DaBaby. The rapper was on video refusing to pay two teenage boys selling candy, handing them $4, and starting a debate on social media. According to him, he wanted to teach them a lesson about hustling.

Do you think this is wise advice from Michael Blackson?
