Bebe Rexha Says Grammys Pick Artists Based On “Who’s Paying Off Who”

The Grammys remain a hot topic days following their 63rd award ceremony as artists continue to discuss if they believe The Recording Academy is corrupt. Every year the Grammy nominations and wins ruffle feathers, but this go ’round shocked even industry professionals. The Weeknd’s After Hours was hailed as one of the best releases of 2020, it led to a themed Super Bowl performance, and earned No. 1 spots for the album and its subsequent singles, but he was snubbed across the board. After not receiving any nominations and, according to The Weeknd, not even an invite to the show, the singer determined that he would no longer submit his music to the Grammys for the remainder of his career.

The treatment of The Weeknd prompted several discussions regarding the validity of The Recording Academy’s voting process, and according to Bebe Rexha, people may be voting in line with who slipped them a few dollars. “This deserved it,” said Rexha in a brief clip shared online. “This deserved a f*cking Grammy. I don’t understand the Grammy criteria, either, but I think, lowkey, it’s about like, who’s paying off who. Just saying.” Over her video, she wrote, “The Grammy’s are corrupted.”

Following her triple win, Megan Thee Stallion was asked if the Grammys were dishonest, and the rapper said, “The Grammys ain’t rigged. B*tch, you win some, you lose some.” Check out Bebe Rexha’s video below.

Saba Balances Reflection And Optimism In His Video For ‘Ziplock/Rich Don’t Stop’

Saba wowed the hip-hop world in 2018 with his sophomore album Care For Me. The 10-track effort was labeled by many as one of the best hip-hop projects from that year, but after its release, the Chicago native would go more than two years without a solo release. That all changed last September with the arrival of not one but two singles: “Mrs. Whoever” and “Something In The Water.” Their release launched a string of drops that brings us to his latest singles, “Ziplock” and “Rich Don’t Stop,” which were released on Wednesday.

The Care For Me rapper turned the two songs into a medley for their music video. In it, he can be found on the roof of what appears to be a fairly tall building as he raps the bars of his “Ziplock” track. The reflective single transitions into a much more upbeat effort with “Rich Don’t Stop,” which finds the rapper looking ahead to brighter days. The video also served as a fundraiser for the John Walt Foundation, which was made in honor of Saba’s late cousin, who helped co-found the Pivot Gang collective of which Saba is also a part

After dropping “Mrs. Whoever” and “Something In The Water,” Saba closed out 2020 with “So And So” and “Areyoudown? Pt. 2.” He also connected with Amine and Femdot for the tracks “Talk” and “Lifetime.”

You can watch the video for “Ziplock/Rich Don’t Stop” above.

Kevin Durant Remembers Beefing With Kobe Bryant: “He Didn’t Even Know”

A little healthy competition is good for the soul, or so they say, but Kevin Durant admits that he may have had a one-sided beef. The sports world is always introducing new figures and players who have their eyes on the prize of being the best. In the NBA, every rookie has a top-tier player that they’ve admired, and if they’re lucky, they would receivee the opportunity to go toe-to-toe with their idols in the paint. During a recent episode of The ETCs with Kevin Durant podcast, the sports icon revealed that he had a previous beef with the late Kobe Bryant—although it seems Bryant didn’t have a clue.

Durant spoke about young players coming into the league with a goal of surpassing the best of the best, and for Durant, Bryant was a person to beat. “The Magics, the Birds, the Jordans, they created that brotherhood amongst the league,” said Durant. There is a balance at looking at fellow players as both brothers and competition. “I felt like I had a beef with Kobe Bryant but he didn’t even know I had this beef — as you get older you look at these guys as just sharpening you and making you better.”

“When Bron goes to score 50 points or James Harden has 60 points, I’m looking at, how can I top it just to be better… How can I maintain that level I was on, too. It’s a healthy competition.” Listen to the most recent episode of The ETCs with Kevin Durant below.

Dr. Dre Asks Judge To Declare Him Legally Single: Report

Their billion-dollar divorce is far from over, but Dr. Dre is ready to be declared a single man—legally, that is. The megaproducer and his estranged wife Nicole Young have been going back and forth in court over the details of their split, including a disagreement about if there was, or wasn’t, a prenuptial agreement set in place. Nicole requested $2 million per month in temporary spousal support and accused Dre of physical abuse and infidelities, while the Aftermath icon denied those accusations against him. Now, Dre is hoping a judge will legally allow him to operate as a single man.

According to TMZ, Dr. Dre’s attorney has filed documents asking the court to declare both himself and Nicole to be single while they hash out their divorce. In documents, Dre reportedly alleges that things have gotten too far out of control after the “false allegations of domestic violence” were submitted. He also stated that he’s been trying to get this divorce finalized for eight months but accuses his ex of delaying the proceedings on purpose.

Recently, Dr. Dre and Love & Hip Hop Hollywood star Apryl Jones were seen together, and later, it was confirmed by Moniece Slaughter that the two have been dating for some time. Moniece claims that she’s been threatened by the producer over her comments, but neither Dre nor Apryl have spoken about their alleged relationship.
