DaBaby Pens Lengthy Message About People Refusing To “Understand [His] Logic”

We can only imagine the stress that DaBaby’s publicist is under, but that hasn’t stopped the rapper from resurfacing with a lengthy statement. DaBaby has been facing some heavy backlash this week following his homophobic comments on the Rolling Loud Miami stage, as well as his “apology” where he stated his gay fans don’t have HIV/AIDS because they’re not “junkies.” Several artists and organizations have come forward to condemn his remarks while calling out DaBaby for continuing to spread inaccurate stigmas about the virus and the gay community.

Earlier today, DaBaby released his new single “Giving What It’s Supposed To Give” along with a visual, and as he promoted the song, the rapper remained the target of detractors who had not yet gotten over his recent controversy. About an hour ago, DaBaby reemerged on Instagram with a message about being misunderstood, adding once again that his “soul ain’t for sale.”

“You ever wrote a video, you and 3 others produce it, you direct it while starring AND rapping in it, film the video for 16 HOURS straight wrap up at 4am, take a shower & jump on a jet to @rollingloud and with only 2 hours of rest give one of the BEST performances of the entire festival yet the most controversial and emotion provoking performance as well,” he penned.

“Due to things deemed ‘insensitive’ said during your performance even though you’re an ENTERTAINER, try to apologize and explain that you meant no harm & that you were only entertaining as you are paid to do, & have no problem with anyone’s sexual preference that is outside of yours,” he continued. “Only to have a substantial amount of people refuse to understand your logic, tag along with a trending topic & play with your character and do everything they can to take money out of your pockets and food out your kids mouth.”

DaBaby claimed that people around him have been “panicking” and reiterated that his apologies specified that he didn’t mean to offend anyone but people are “currently offending” him. He added that it’s all “God’s Work” and suggested this controversy can’t stop his hustle. Read through his message in full below.

Lil Uzi Vert Learned He’s Younger Than He Thought After His Mom Found His Birth Certificate

The 2020 coronavirus pandemic took a year of social activities away from our lives. One of them includes birthdays as big celebrations were forced to be downsized in fear of spreading the virus. As a result, many people on social media have joked about repeating a year of life in order to celebrate it the right way. However, for Lil Uzi Vert, it seems like he’ll actually spend another year at the same age, thanks to something he discovered on his birth certificate.

The rapper believed he would be turning 27 on Saturday, July 31, but after his mom found his birth certificate, it turns out Lil Uzi Vert will remain 26 for another year. “Wait wtf I’m turning 26??? My mom found my birth certificate,” he wrote in a post to Twitter. A fan responded, “Damn bro so you was 18 but really 17,” to which Uzi replied, “Yes WTFFF!!!” This of course shifts his accomplishments a bit as it means the Philly rapper was only 20 years old when he dropped his breakout mixtape Luv Is Rage. He also celebrated what was actually his 21st birthday by releasing The Perfect LUV Tape the following year.

Lil Uzi’s discovery comes after he reinstalled his pink forehead diamond and got a new tattoo on his tongue. On the music side of things, he recently joined Trippe Redd in a video to their latest collaboration, “Holy Smokes.”

Lil Uzi Vert is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Woman Arrested After Refusing To Turn Off “WAP,” Assaulted Officers: Report

It was one of the hottest singles of Summer 2020, so it only makes sense that “WAP” continues its domination in these swelting months. Cardi B was recently featured on Normani’s “Wild Side,” a track that both ladies hope will top the charts, but “WAP” remains a favorite among the Bronx rapper’s fans. A recent report stated that a woman named Stephanie Crute may have been enjoying the NSFW single a bit too much because it was the catalyst that resulted in the 36-year-old Pennsylvania resident being arrested.

According to Yahoo, Crute was reportedly at a pool with her daughters when someone called the police. The ladies had been asked to leave because they were allegedly blasting music over a “large Bluetooth speaker.” The song? “WAP”—the explicit version.

Police reportedly stated that upon arrival to the scene, they asked Crute to leave the premises but she flatly refused. Crute then was told she was being detained, and that is when Tamaqua Police Chief Michael Hobbs claimed that Crute not only pushed an officer, but she’s accused of resisting and punching them and other guests at the pool. Crute’s 11-year-old daughter is also accused of assaulting an officer, as well.

An officer reportedly was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment and Crute was hit with several charges including “felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault and resisting arrest, and summary harassment and disorderly conduct.” Her daughter was sent home to her father and Crute was given a $250K bond and later made bail.

She will reportedly return to court on August 3.

Young Dolph Admits That He Can’t Commit To Retirement: ‘I Can’t Let Those Folks Down’

In the last year, Young Dolph has shared two projects with fans, those being his 2020 solo effort, Rich Slave, and this year’s Dum And Dummer 2 with fellow Memphis rapper Key Glock. While both were well-received efforts, they also came before attempts from Dolph to walk away from the rap game. The first instance came last summer, less than a month before the release of Rich Slave when the rapper expressed his desire to spend more time with his family as a reason for quitting rap. While he returned months later for Dum And Dummer 2, Dolph doubled down on retirement just days after releasing the project. That announcement was also short-lived, and Dolph explained why in a recent interview.

“I can’t do it, real talk. I can’t do,” he admitted during a sit down on DJ Scream’s and Big Bank’s “Big Facts” podcast when he was asked about retiring. “It’s like I’m the spokesperson for all of the street n****s and all of the n****s that’s on some independent sh*t … And really come in the game on some sh*t… The n**** that really want to do this sh*t, like, I don’t really wanna tie myself to no major label—do this sh*t on my own. I’ma hustle this sh*t. I’ma grab that.”

He added, “It’s just like with everything else. You got some n**** who don’t really want to take the route that everybody else take… The n**** that be like I’ma do this sh*t like my way. I can’t let those folks down. It’s like I’m they motivator. They be needing that sh*t.”

Chika Goes Off On Boosie Badazz: “[He] Paid Money To Have His Son R*ped”

There have been several voices added to the conversations involving DaBaby’s homophobic remarks in recent days. Tory Lanez, T.I. and Boosie Badazz have defended rappers’ rights to speak out, with the latter two involving Lil Nas X into the controversy unprovoked. Earlier today, T.I. suggested that rappers are being bullied by the gay community while detractors counterargued that artists are being held accountable in ways they haven’t been in the past.

DaBaby’s comments about HIV/AIDS and the LGBTQIA+ community were enough to have people up in arms, but Boosie’s rant about the gay community and Lil Nas X has caused the Rap veteran to remain a trending topic throughout the day (July 28). The comments did not go unnoticed on Chika, and she made sure to call out Boosie’s current, and past, behaviors.

“Remember when boosie paid someone to sexually assault his son? oral sex, was it? so r*pe. remember when boosie paid money to have his son r*ped? in order to ‘train him.’ bc it takes training. boosie thinks you have to practice being a sexuality. i wonder why,” Chika tweeted. The Grammy-nominated rapper was referring to Boosie revealing last year that he allegedly facilitated his 12-year-old son receiving oral sex from a “super grown” woman.

“It seems to me that Boosie is mad that he can’t suppress his sexuality without the temptation of oiled up scantily clad n*ggas making it hard. (‘it’ being his d*ck.),” she continued. Someone attempted to curb the conversation and accused Chika of accusing homophobic men of being “down low.”

“This conversation isn’t about being DL, because that conversation is far more nuanced than y’all make it. and quite frankly, Twitter won’t handle it with care. however, it’s wild that the loudest homophobes have homoerotic tendencies themselves. yet condemn those who are open.” Read through her tweets below.

Tiffany Haddish & Lakeith Stanfield “In Talks” To Star In Disney’ “Haunted Mansion”: Report

Disney is hoping to capitalize on one of their most beloved rides by making the Haunted Mansion into a feature film…again. Back in 2003, Eddie Murphy and Jennifer Tilly starred in the horror-comedy The Haunted Mansion, and while that movie did fairly well at the box office, it garnered mixed reviews from Disney buffs. The mega-corporation is hoping to wow fans with an updated adaptation, this time with two new stars leading the pack.

According to Deadline, Tiffany Haddish and Lakeith Stanfield are “in talks” to star in the Haunted Mansion-themed film with Justin Simien acting as director. Two producers from the Will Smith-led Aladdin live-action flick are said to be involved, as well.

Last year, The Hollywood Reporter gave a bit of insight into what could be expected from the forthcoming film. Disney has some of the most dedicated fans on the planet, so since the announcement was made that a second Haunted Mansion film was on the way, people have been sharing what they’ve learned about the film.

“Gabbie, a single mother, and her young son [who] recently purchased a New Orleans estate [the Haunted Mansion] at auction only to discover it isn’t quite as empty as they expected,” reported the DisInsider. “Gabbie hires a grieving widower who works as a ghost tour guide [Stanfield], a psychic, a priest, and a local historian to exorcise the vengeful spirit from the Haunted Mansion.”

We’ll have to wait to confirm that this is the plot, but fans are excited at the possibility of Haddish and Stanfield appearing together. Watch the trailer for Eddie Murphy’s 2003 The Haunted Mansion film below.

DaBaby Says “Don’t Fight Hate With Hate,” GLADD Calls His Comments “Harmful”

Amid the ongoing controversy due to his homophobic remarks at Rolling Loud Miami this past weekend, DaBaby has issued yet another apology—sort of. It has been a stressful week for DaBaby’s team as they attempt to reel in the scandal that has continued to unfold, and the support the North Carolina rapper has received from his fellow rappers hasn’t been much help.

DaBaby’s comments while on stage were enough to invoke the public’s ire, but it was his follow-up explanation that sent people over the edge. He stated that his gay fans don’t have HIV/AIDS because, as he suggested, they aren’t “junkies.” He told critics to keep the same energy when headlines included cases of racism or brutality, but people didn’t accept his correlation.

Several artists and organizations have used this opportunity to speak out about homophobia, in and outside of the Hip Hop community, and GLADD, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation organization, shared a statement given via their associate director of communities of color, DaShawn Usher.

“The rhetoric that DaBaby used is inaccurate, hurtful, and harmful to the LGBTQ community and the estimated 1.2 million Americans living with HIV,” Usher tweeted. “It is critical that DaBaby and his fans learn that people living with HIV today, when on effective treatment, lead long and healthy lives and cannot transmit HIV.”

“While DaBaby has made haphazard attempts to ‘apologize,’ actions need to be taken for full accountability,” Usher continued. “It further confirms what @GLADD reported last year in the State of HIV Stigma Study that stigma and misinformation around HIV is widespread, and there is much work to be done to educate the public, including entertainers.”

Meanwhile, Dababy released the music video for his new single “Giving What It’s Supposed To Give,” and at the end of the visual, he included a message. In rainbow-colored font, it reads, “Don’t Fight Hate With Hate,” and the rapper added, “My apologies for being me the same way you want the freedom to be you.”

Megan Thee Stallion’s Ex-BFF Kelsey Says “Stop Tagging” Her In Tory Lanez Posts

As Megan Thee Stallion reveals that her Revlon collaboration has sold out, the shooting she was involved in one year ago has once again reared its controversial head. DaBaby’s scandal has caused several artists to speak up on his behalf, including the likes of Boosie Badazz, T.I., and Tory Lanez. The latter didn’t specifically cite DaBaby in his tweets, but social media users believed he was speaking about his “SKAT” collaborator.

“When did rap get so politically correct that u can’t speak your mind and have an opinion,” tweeted the Toronto star. “Why the f*ck was rap started ?… for us to speak our mind …. rappers will not always be right, and u don’t have to agree . But they have a right to speak their mind.”

A Twitter user responded by asking, “Since when can rappers shoot girls on the feet?” Lanez had some time today, so he retweeted the message and added, “Since when have u had ACTUAL evidence that I did that ??? I’ll wait.” The exchange was reposted by The Neighborhood Talk and someone tagged Kelsey Nicole, Megan’s ex-best friend, who was reportedly there when the rapper was shot.

Kelsey hasn’t shared her side of the story and has not named Lanez as the shooter, but she has faced accusations that she was paid to keep quiet. Kelsey has denied those allegations and it didn’t seem that she was happy to be included in this conversation, either.

“Y’all annoying , stop tagging me,” she replied. “Cuz if I get to going off it’s gonna be a problem.” This only further enticed people to agitate her because they believe she holds the key to finding out what happened that evening. The case against Lanez is ongoing. Check it all out below.
