NLE Choppa Tackles Mobb Deep Classic On “Quiet Storm”

NLE Choppa has proven himself to be one of the game’s more interesting young voices, a narrative that gains further fuel through his brand new freestyle over Mobb Deep’s “Quiet Storm.” It’s become so assumed that new generation rappers have little to no interest in tackling so-called boom-bap production that Choppa gains points off the bat for even attempting. Even if we do have Big Tigger, Rapsody, and their new Revolt series Off-Top to thank for that.

For his part, Choppa fares quite nicely over Havoc’s ominous production. Though he lacks the urgency of Mobb Deep’s legendary pair, Choppa’s perspective is engaging enough to retain interest, even if it’s evident that he’s stepping outside of his comfort zone in the flow department. Still, it’s interesting enough to see a young artist dipping into the golden era, and he certainly delivers a few slick gangsta rap bars as he hits his stride.

Check out NLE Choppa’s “Quiet Storm” freestyle now, and sound off if you think he did Mobb Deep justice.

Slide up in my mama car, hop out the whip and run him down
Excited killas when we do it we make sure we smile

The Kid LAROI Claims He Has COVID, Quickly Retracts Statement

The Kid LAROI has been having a massive moment over the past few weeks thanks to his hit song “Stay” featuring Justin Bieber. The success of the song has launched his new album to the top spot of the Billboard Top 200, and now, “Stay” is the number one song on the Billboard charts. This is LAROI’s first song to chart that high, and if you’ve been on TikTok as of late, then you would know that this song is inescapable.

Following this major milestone, LAROI went on his Instagram page and celebrated his latest achievement with a lengthy message to all of the fans who have supported him over the years. Within the message, LAROI noted that he wanted to go back home to his native Australia although COVID has put the kibosh on that.

 Per The Kid LAROI:

“WOAH. number fucking 1!!! first of all, thank you to every single one of you mfs for streaming, buying and supporting the fuuuuck out of this record & thank you to my brother @justinbieber for being apart of this and going so hard for me constantly. this is not only a big moment for me, but a really big moment for Australia. growing up all I ever wanted to do was “make it big” in America and show everyone what we have to offer. it’s been a while since I’ve been back home because of COVID but truuust me I been there in spirit lol. I wanna take this moment to give a shoutout to a couple of other upcoming Australian artists and put you all in tune — they’re next”

In the original caption, LAROI had added an extra caveat concerning COVID-19, saying: “which I currently have rn and have been locked in a room for the past 7 days.” This was quickly deleted although it is unknown as to why.

LAROI’s admission is interesting considering the fact that he performed at Lollapalooza back on July 29th, according to TMZ. Regardless of where he may have contracted COVID, it is odd that he felt the need to delete that piece of information. Either way, we’re sure he’s just happy to have one of the biggest songs in the world right now.

Kemba Walker Loses $20 Million In Thunder Buyout: Details

Kemba Walker is headed to the Big Apple this season where he will get to play with a New York Knicks squad that just came off of its best regular season in quite some time. Fans have every right to be excited about this roster as numerous players are returning, all while Kemba will be leading the offense at point guard. Star players typically avoid New York although, at this point, it seems like the tide has changed around the league.

Walker just came off of two seasons with the Boston Celtics, and at the start of the offseason, he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. It became quite clear that Kemba would not play for the Thunder, and as a result, he and the team worked out a buyout agreement.

According to reporter Keith Smith, Kemba will certainly be feeling the effects of this buyout over the course of the next couple of years. For instance, he will have to give back $9,777,778 to the Thunder this season, and he will give back another $10,222,222 in 2023. For Walker, this isn’t exactly a big deal, especially when you consider how he is making bank with the Knicks now.

In the end, the Celtics got what they wanted, the Thunder got the draft picks they wanted, and the Knicks got the point guard they needed. This is one of the few scenarios in the NBA where everyone ended up winning.

Stay tuned to HNHH for more news from around the NBA.

Mick Jenkins’ New Album Is Done

This year has already proven to be a solid one for rap fans — particularly those who can appreciate lyricism— with new albums from Nas, J. Cole, Isaiah Rashad, Tyler, The Creator, Conway The Machine, Benny The Butcher, and many more. Now, another elite emcee is gearing up to drop deliver a project, as Mick Jenkins has officially confirmed that his upcoming studio album has been finished.

The last we heard from Mick, he was setting a tone with the release of The Circus, one of 2020’s low-key strongest releases — though it sorta flew under the radar with an early January release. At the time, he spoke of continuing the narrative of The Circus and expanding the concept, though the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic may very well have altered those plans.

It’s unclear if this new album will pick up where The Circus left off, though given how much has transpired within society this past year and a half, don’t be surprised to see the ever-incisive Mick shift gears entirely. We’ve already received a glimpse at a potential direction, as Mick recently dropped off an impressive new single called “Truffles.” If you haven’t caught that one, be sure to check it out right here; as expected, there’s plenty of strong lyricism and charisma to be found throughout.

We’ll have to wait and see how much Jenkins decides to divulge in the near future, as for now, details remain extremely scarce. Though it can be assumed “Truffles” will be included, there really is no telling what Jenkins has been cooking up. No matter how the cards ultimately fall, we’re looking forward to hearing the end result.

Are you looking forward to a new album from Mick Jenkins?

Joe Exotic Says Cancer Spreading To Pelvis & Stomach

Joe Exotic took the world by storm after Tiger King’s success, though it didn’t help get him out of prison. He’s made headlines in the past year with several attempts to get pardoned, including strides to get Donald Trump’s attention. Unfortunately for him, he’s still behind bars suffering from prostate cancer and it looks like things aren’t getting any better.

According to The Sun, Joe Exotic says that his prostate cancer is now spreading across his body. The star of Tiger King revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer in May and attempted to use the diagnosis as a means of getting a pardon from President Biden. Since then, he hasn’t received any treatment.

John M. Phillips, attorney for Joe Exotic, told TMZ that the doctors are now checking to confirm whether the cancer is spreading. He was supposed to be checked on Monday but the appointment was canceled.

Exotic is waiting for a doctor to give him an official diagnosis on whether cancer has actually spread as he suspects. However, he said that he will refuse any treatment, even if the cancer is at stage 3 or 4. He said, “Let it take me,” adding that he’s “ready to die.”

While things are looking grim, he recently received news that his 22-year sentence will be vacated and he’ll have to be resentenced. This will likely shorten his sentence and allow him to be released from prison even sooner
