Joey Bada$$: “Social Distancing Is Inhumane”

For the last year, humans around the world have been keeping their distance from one another, wearing masks to cover their faces and doing their part to stop the spread of the deadly coronavirus. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed all of our lives and, with vaccine distribution ramping up across the globe, it feels like things may finally be going back to “normal” soon.

It’s been pretty difficult to stay away from our friends, families, and loved ones for so long but, because of very clear health concerns, we’ve reluctantly stayed inside for the last twelve months. New York rapper Joey Bada$$ is sick of the imposed curfews, quarantines, and more, complaining on Twitter that social distancing is “inhumane”.

“This new world has ZERO to do with anyone’s safety and everything to do with control and compliance,” said Joey Bada$$ on Monday morning, seemingly echoing the Great Reset theory in his tweets. “It’s sad how much this pandemic has enabled people to treat each other. Social distancing is inhumane. This society is governed by FEAR and it’s so sad that you blind folk can’t see pass what the external forces provide for you. I don’t watch the news because I know nothing’s new. I’m done arguing with anyone. I know most people won’t agree with me because most people are dull-minded and reliant. I have no energy for you folk. The difference between me and y’all is I’m governed by self. Good day.”

The Oscar-nominated rapper recently also called out DisneyWorld for allegedly kicking out his autistic cousin, posting a video of him berating three park employees that he shamed for restricting his cousin for removing his mask.

Conway The Machine Switches It Up In New Snippet

It’s fair to say that Conway The Machine’s upcoming Shady Records album God Don’t Make Mistakes is one of the year’s most anticipated releases. Though little is known about the Griselda project, with collaborators and producers remaining unconfirmed, many have been curious to see how The Machine approaches his first major-label solo release.

From the sound of it, Conway has been steadily cooking up in the studio, inviting Mal and Rory of the Joe Budden Podcast to a recent session and previewing some unreleased music, presumably stemming from God Don’t Make Mistakes. Two snippets surfaced following the link-up, with the first highlighting a typically grimy banger that sounds like something Daringer or Beat Butcha cooked up.

The second, which is significantly longer, finds Conway switching up the style and delivering his own take on a track for the ladies. Over an uptempo, groovy, and oddly uplifting instrumental, Machine delivers an effortless flow as he spits game with old-school charisma. “Sweet like candy, a love I can’t escape from but you my little secret though,” he raps. “Well, not a secret but keep shit low / I’m the man in my city, big Chief, I’m Mahomes / woah, who you know getting change like that / what other young n**a getting change like that?”

Check out the two snippets now, and sound off if you like what you hear so far. Though it’s not confirmed as to whether or not these tracks actually hail from God Don’t Make Mistakes, many speculate that the project will be the rapper’s next release. Do you think it has potential to be his best album yet?

Rockets Issue Hefty Asking Price For Victor Oladipo

Victor Oladipo was sent to the Houston Rockets earlier this season as it was clear that he no longer wanted to play for the Indiana Pacers. What’s interesting, however, is that his preferred destination was always the Miami Heat, and with James Harden no longer in Houston, it was becoming obvious that Oladipo’s time in H-Town wouldn’t last very long.

Now, the Rockets are on a 20-game losing streak and still aren’t last place in the Western Conference. Regardless, Oladipo is on the market and according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Rockets are asking for a high price that includes draft picks, and some solid young talent.

Per Charania:

“The Rockets’ asking price for Victor Oladipo in an individual deal is believed to be a quality first-round pick or a good young player, although teams around the league wonder about whether Houston settles for second-round compensation, sources said. Miami, New York, and Detroit have been among the teams to show interest in the two-time All-Star, per sources.”

The Miami Heat are in the running for Oladipo although the New York Knicks seem to be interested as well. With the deadline just three days away, it looks like Oladipo will most likely be on the move. With this in mind, keep it locked to HNHH as we will bring you all of the latest updates.

Icewear Vezzo & Helluva Explain How Detroit Rap Changed On “BagFuel”

Detroit has always been one of the most exciting and authentic cities in terms of hip-hop’s long history and in the last few years, we’ve seen a real spark from the Motor City. Behind that buzz have been several artists but, arguably, Icewear Vezzo remains the heartbeat of the D. The rapper has always put on for his city, working with tons of local artists and putting them on, using his platform to elevate others.

With the way Detroit has been moving, we needed to have Icewear Vezzo and famed Detroit-based producer Helluva on the latest episode of BagFuel with hosts E$$O and Hynaken to speak about what changed in the last few years, among other topics.

Recognized as one of the rappers that has united Detroit, Icewear Vezzo isn’t quick to take credit for that much. Instead, he happily shares the credit with guys like Peezy, Tee Grizzley, and others from the city. When E$$O asked Vezz about what changed in the way Detroit rappers approach the music business, the rapper gave a telling response.

“N***as looked up. N***as was having 20 million views, 5 million views, 2 million views, but the money wasn’t aligning. I know for me, at one point I told myself, my name is bigger than my account and that don’t make sense to me,” said Icewear Vezzo. “It don’t make sense. I’m rapping my ass off. When you get a buzz in Detroit, I’m gonna tell you what comes with it. Kentucky comes with it. Minnesota comes with it. Oakland comes with it. All of Ohio comes with it. Pittsburgh comes with it. And a little bit of LA. That’s too many different states who’s f*cking with me and booking me for shows and know what I’m doing. I’m getting too many views– I don’t understand why my finances ain’t together. When I did that, I told you to learn the business.”

Elsewhere in the podcast episode, Icewear Vezzo speaks about the significance of BMF to Detroit, explaining that he was already in tune with the movement but that, when BMF broke, it was more intimate and motivational because Big Meech and his crew were from his hometown. “We already seen what came with good structure,” he said.

Big Sean Introduced His Mom To Goku’s Voice Actor From ‘Dragon Ball’

For years, rappers have voiced their appreciation for anime through their rhymes, their album art, and even their fashion choices. Lately, though, the folks who work in anime have been returning that attention, from giving rappers shout outs in their work to meeting with some of their biggest fans in hip-hop. Over the weekend, one such meet-and-greet went down with one of the standout artists of the past decade and another special guest.

Big Sean posted a video to Instagram on Sunday in which he introduces his mom to Seán Schemmel, the voice actor who famously plays the character Goku in the Dragon Ball franchise of series. As excited as the Detroit native must be as a child of the Dragon Ball generation, his mom seems just as enthused about the moment, telling Schemmel how much her Sean “loved, loved, loved, and still loves” the massively popular franchise that Schemmel has been part of for decades.

“I didn’t know Big Sean,” Schemmel says of his mentality when recording lines. “But in my head I’m thinking, ‘That little kid needs to be flipping out. I gotta make him believe this guy is real… To hear it come back after all these years is astounding.’” The video finishes out, naturally, with the elder Seán throwing on that familiar voice and doing the signature “powering up” yell from so, so many epiosdes that the younger Sean undoubtedly grew up enjoying.

A few weeks ago, another well-noted anime fan in hip-hop got a nod from a voice actor as well. Jujutsu Kaisen voice actor Adam McArthur took a fan’s challenge to update a very specific reference in the show to name-check Megan Thee Stallion, delighting fans of both the rapper and the show. At this rate, it’s probably only a matter of time before the rappers and the voice actors are one and the same.

Asian Doll Defends Billionaire Kylie Jenner Amid Crowdfunding Controversy

Kylie Jenner is a billionaire businesswoman who reportedly makes $450,000 per day on average. She’s being picked apart on social media after asking her followers to donate money to her make-up artist, Samuel Rauda, who requires emergency brain surgery. The surgery will reportedly cost $60,000. Kylie reportedly only donated $5,000, which is a tiny portion of her daily earnings, pissing off fans of the social media star who believe that she should have covered the entire procedure.

While the majority of people are going off on Kylie, there is a select few that have been standing up for the billionaire. Among those people is rapper Asian Doll, who says that Kylie is generous for even using her platform to share the news.

“People mad at Kylie for raising 60k for her makeup artist instead of giving him 60k cause she rich,” wrote Asian Doll on Twitter. “Either way he got 60k right? Even if she ain’t personally give it to him he still got it from HER supporters meanwhile your friend won’t even take you to your job orientation. I don’t care if she’s a trillionaire her money is her money.”

Asian says that, just because Kylie has the money, she’s not obligated to spend any of it on her friend in need. She added, “He’s her MakeupArtist business is business she was more then generous to make him a go fund me & raised him 60k….. do your boss pay your medical bills? I don’t give a f*ck what nobody say people with money is not obligated to do for you just because they got it & you can’t get mad at what somebody do with THEY MONEY.”

Do you agree with Asian Doll’s take on the latest Kylie Jenner controversy?

Troy Ave Drops “Wrangler With The Top Off”

A few days ago, Troy Ave returned with another new glimpse at his upcoming project  New York City: The Album 2, this time dropping off “Wrangler With The Top Off.” Featuring an instrumental that’s decidedly NYC, evocative of that classic age of Big Apple mafioso rap, Troy Ave kicks some reflective bars over a cinematic string sample.

“Dangerous minds plus dangerous times, equals most of the grinds being fueled by crime,” he observes. “I’m not innocent, but I’m not the kind, looking for problems that I find, I bully bullies who can’t put that behind / you can’t see me, so it’s next in line / it’s like the blind leading the blind, candles pictures and Moët shrines.” For those who can appreciate Troy in his lyrical bag, the introspective “Wrangler With The Top Off” should be enough to satisfy. And should it indicate the tone of his upcoming NYC: The Album 2, perhaps we’ll be looking at his most lyrically-focused release so far.

Check out “Wrangler With The Top Off” now, and sound off with your thoughts on Troy Ave’s latest in the comments below.

QUOTABLE LYRICS

Dangerous minds plus dangerous times,
Equals most of the grinds being fueled by crime
I’m not innocent, but I’m not the kind,
Looking for problems that I find, I bully bullies who can’t put that behind
You can’t see me, so it’s next in line
It’s like the blind leading the blind — candles, pictures, and Moët shrines.

LeBron James’ Return Timeline Revealed

LeBron James was one of the latest NBA superstars to go down with the injury bug over the weekend as he sprained his ankle in a game against the Atlanta Hawks. LeBron was immediately in pain and after trying to put some weight on his foot, he decided to leave the match and never came back. Last night, LeBron was in a walking boot on the sidelines as his team took on the Phoenix Suns, and at this point, it’s clear that the superstar has a long road ahead.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, LeBron will have to miss “several weeks” with this injury, which means you won’t be seeing him on the court any time soon. This could be a two-month wait for Lakers fans, especially since the team doesn’t want to rush LeBron back if they don’t have to.

“Nothing angers and saddens me more than not being available to and for my teammates! I’m hurt inside and out right now,” LeBron wrote after the injury. “The road back from recovery begins now. Back soon like I never left.”

The Lakers are in third in the Western Conference although, over the next month or so, fans can expect them to be closer to the bottom half of the playoff contenders. It wouldn’t be shocking if the team fell close to eighth in the standings, especially with Anthony Davis out as well.

Air Jordan 11 “Animal Print” Coming This Holiday Season: First Look

If you are a big fan of the Air Jordan 11, the Holiday season always tends to treat you well. Jordan Brand always comes out with a Jordan 11 model in December, and this year, the “Cool Grey” model is expected to be returning to the market. Typically, there is only one Jordan 11 colorway to be had throughout the year, although in 2021, it seems as though Jumpman may be changing things up a bit. In a recent post from @zsneakerheadz on Instagram, it was revealed that a women’s only “Animal Print” offering will be hitting the market.

In the photoshop rendering below, you can see that the sneaker will have a black base, while the material that goes all the way around the shoe features a leopard print to it. There seem to be various different patterns to be found here although the color remains consistent. This is a unique approach compared to the usual patent leather we typically get with other Air Jordan 11 models.

Just like the “Cool Grey”, this shoe is expected to drop around the Holiday season, so be on the lookout for updated information as we will be sure to bring that to you. As always, let us know what you think about this potential colorway, in the comments below.

Snoop Dogg Trolls Joe Biden’s Air Force One Mishap

Though Snoop Dogg was certainly no friend to former President Donald Trump, his philosophy ensures that when it comes to the memes, anybody can get it. Case in point, the Doggfather recently took to Instagram to poke fun at President Joe Biden, who recently made headlines after repeatedly stumbling during a climb up the stairs of Air Force One.

Though many wrote the moment off as simple clumsiness, others expressed concern with the President’s health and mobility, using it as further ammunition against his position in office. While it doesn’t appear that Snoop Dogg falls into such a category, it’s clear he does see the humor in Biden’s viral gaffe, offering the President a recommendation for a possible solution.

“I got moms One of these for her stairs before and it was a smooth glide ya dig,” writes Snoop, alongside a doctored video of Biden ascending the extensive steps while seated on an assisted-stair climber. “Good shit joe.” At this point, it’s clear that there’s nothing the internet won’t cook up, and it’s evident that Snoop is content to watch the chaos unfold with a smile on his face. Perhaps it’s a soft rebuttal to the recent reports that Joe Biden’s team was moving to fire staffers with a history of marijuana use, a topic that Snoop holds close to heart.

Check out Snoop Dogg’s reaction to the Biden meme below.
