Kevin Gates Locks In With FL Dusa For “Dusa”

Baton Rouge has been a hot spot for talent over the years with legendary figures emerging as champions for the city on a global stage. Kevin Gates, of course, is one of the most prominent figures to come out of BR over the years. The B.W.A. imprint that he and his wife Dreka run have been introducing some incredible talent and it continues to expand.

FL Dusa, a native from South Baton Rouge, is preparing for his breakout moment under the B.W.A. umbrella. The rapper has been pushing out some heavy singles this year including “Dying Inside” and the Fredo Bang-assisted, “Sad Song.” Now, he’s back alongside the Breadwinners Association head honcho for his new single, “Dusa.” He and Kevin Gates swap bars with their chests puffed over smooth piano progressions and rattling 808s.

Check out the record below.

I don’t play hotel, dick her down and drop your lil’ bitch off

Kanye West Files To Trademark “Ye” For COVID-19 Masks

A Los Angeles judge recently granted the artist formerly known as Kanye West permission to legally change his name to Ye. Now, the rapper is preparing for a whole merchandise rebrand, starting with facemasks. According to TMZ, Ye has filed a petition to trademark his new name for the purposes of COVID-19 masks. The DONDA artist filed to trademark Ye for the purpose of “sanitary masks for protection against viral infection.” Additionally, he’s seeking to make “fashion masks” with similar branding.

Chances are, these face masks will sell fast, similar to anything the Yeezy logo is emblazoned on. Earlier this year, the rapper launched the Yeezy x Gap collaboration officially which reportedly did $7M overnight. The former CEO of GAP said that 35,000 orders were placed for a $200 jacket the evening the products launched. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Ye face masks earns the rapper some huge bucks.

Ye initially filed documents to change his name back in August. The rapper filed a petition to the court, and thanks to California’s rather relaxed laws, he managed to legally change his name in under 2 months. However, he’s flirted with the idea in the past. Shortly before hitting the stage for his incredibly controversial SNL performance, he took to Twitter where he revealed that he would wrote, “the being formally known as Kanye West I am YE.”

Don Toliver Shares A New Merch Line With Cactus Jack And A Bathing Ape

Don Toliver is currently one of the hottest names in rap, with his new album Life Of A Don debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard albums chart. It’s no surprise, though, as he’s signed to Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack label, sharing with his mentor a certain level of cool-kid clout — enough to warrant a look from perennial streetwear favorite A Bathing Ape, which teamed up with Toliver to release a new line of exclusive co-branded merch. In addition, Toliver’s listening party for Life Of A Don was held at BAPE’s New York store and captured for posterity in the video above.

The merch line consists of four T-shirts combining the streetwear brand’s trademark logos with Don’s name and the album title. The shirts are all $129 and can be purchased either at A Bathing Ape’s website or on Don Toliver’s online shop with album bundles.

Seeing Don Toliver teaming up with A Bathing Ape makes perfect sense when you consider Travis Scott’s propensity for licensing his likeness to practically any brand looking to raise its profile among young spenders: Travis counts Sony, McDonald’s, and more among his partnerships, even as he insists he’s not looking to be a “brand” of his own. Don’s following in his footsteps and well on his way, although he’s making sure to balance savvy money moves with fan-favorite singles like “Flocky Flocky” and “Drugs N Hella Melodies.”

Life Of A Don is out now via Cactus Jack and Atlantic.

Avery Bradley Claimed By Lakers After Going On Waivers

Back in 2019 and 2020, Avery Bradley proved himself to be one of the key role players on the Los Angeles Lakers. Unfortunately, due to health concerns, Bradley did not join the Lakers in the Orlando bubble as the COVID-19 pandemic raged on. In the end, the Lakers were able to win the title, and Bradley was credited with a championship.

Last offseason, Bradley signed with the Miami Heat where he spent one full season before moving on the Golden State Warriors. While Bradley was solid in preseason, the team put him on waivers yesterday, making him free for any player to pick up.

There were a few teams interested in the veteran player, and in the end, it was the Lakers who were able to get him. According to Shams Charania, Bradley will take the last roster spot on the Lakers as he reunites with the likes of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Overall, this is a solid move for the Lakers as they will now bolster their depth and add to a roster that is already packed with some pretty solid talent and role players.

Disney Pushes Back Release Dates For “Dr. Strange 2”, “Black Panther 2”, “Thor 4” & More

Not long after Marvel’s Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings scored major box office success last month, Disney has announced that several of their films slated for release through early to mid-2022 will come a couple of months later than expected, with some being pushed back as far out as Summer 2023.

For instance, the eagerly-awaited upcoming installment of the Black Panther series, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, has been delayed from July 8 of next year to November 11. So has Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which has been pushed back from March 25 to May 6, and Thor: Love and Thunder, from May 6 to July 8. This flood of delays has reportedly set off a domino effect, pushing The Marvels and the new Indiana Jones film from their scheduled release dates in 2022 to 2023, and removing whole films from Disney’s 2023 schedule entirely.

It has not been revealed which of the many Marvel films in the works will be pushed off indefinitely. Although Shang-Chi had a worldwide gross of over $400 million, Disney has stated that the delays are less about box-office returns and more about concerns stemming from each of these films’ respective production processes. Harrison Ford, for instance, experienced a shoulder injury on set for the upcoming Indiana Jones film, but has since returned to filming. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is still being filmed in Atlanta

The extensive web that the Marvel cinematic universe has established means that if one film faces delays, the rest of the franchise is ought to face scheduling shuffles themselves. In light of companies’ shifts to a hybrid model splitting releases between the big screen and digital platforms like Disney+, fans will have to wait as production teams continue to accommodate the needs of their crews and audiences, especially amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through the rest of the year, Disney plans to play their movies on big screens for 45 days before transitioning to online streaming platforms. Only time will tell whether these plans apply to their 2022 and 2023 lineups, but we’ll keep you updated.

Lala Kent Incites Randall Emmett Breakup Rumors

Social media might exist in an “unreal” place, but the way one moves on these platforms can still bleed over into real life.

Over the weekend, model and reality star Lala Kent removed her fiancé, The Irishman producer Randall Emmett, from Instagram, archiving and deleting all of their pictures, and liking a post alleging that he had cheated on her. Just recently, pictures of Emmett with two women went viral on Instagram and Twitter, and the ensuing drama seems to have culminated to this point (See the photos below).

While this is not the first time Kent has removed Emmett from her Instagram, the Vanderpump Rules star has admitted that doing so is habitual for her, especially when he makes her angry. “I’m petty af. It will happen again and again until I grow out of it & it’s the most petty thing I do. I’m okay with it,” she said on her Instagram story after archiving their photos last year. Kent reportedly did the same when they broke up after their public dispute with 50 Cent back in 2019

According to fans, this time seems like the last straw. A few days ago, Kent posted a video on her Instagram story of her and two assistants wheeling luggage and her baby Ocean out of a hotel, set to the tune of “Sorry” by Beyoncé

“Now you want to say you’re sorry/Now you want to call me crying,” Beyoncé sings in the audio clip Kent chose for the video. “Now you gotta see me wilding/Now I’m the one that’s lying/And I don’t feel bad about it/It’s exactly what you get.”

Shortly afterward, Lala posted a video of her and her baby, celebrating Ocean’s 7-month anniversary as a newborn. “It’s you and me, baby,” the caption reads. See the post below.

Metro Boomin Names Top 5 Atlanta Rappers Of All Time

Metro Boomin listed his top five artists from Atlanta on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, Sunday. The legendary producer named 21 Savage, Future, T.I., Gucci Mane, and Young Thug as the best to do it, but admitted it was a difficult choice.

The easiest pick for Metro was his frequent collaborator, Future. Metro said he has “got to be” in his top five. His Savage Mode II partner, 21 Savage, was also an easy selection for the producer.

Metro did add that Savage “don’t give a fuck about being considered, like, the top five artists from Atlanta.”

He also mentioned that Young Thug “transformed this shit,” before adding T.I. and Gucci Mane as well.

Earlier in the podcast, Metro spoke about his chemistry with Savage, explaining, “The way me and Savage work, it’s easy…but at the same time it’s challenging. Not challenging in a bad way, it’s just I feel like we challenge each other so much.”

He added: “I feel like with him, it’s always easy for us as a whole, but at the same time he challenges me. But I need that, though, so that’s a blessing.”

Stephen A. Smith Makes Bold Prediction About Odell Beckham Jr.

Since joining the Cleveland Browns, it’s been kind of obvious that Odell Beckham Jr. just doesn’t fit within the system. Quarterback Baker Mayfield is always looking for other receivers, and it has forced OBJs production to taper off. There have been rumors that the wide receiver wants out of Cleveland as a result, and you can imagine just how many teams out there want him on the roster given just how fast and talented he truly is.

Over the past few months, one team has consistently been a part of these OBJ trade rumors. That team just so happens to be the Green Bay Packers who boast Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. Rodgers could use a weapon like OBJ, as he would make that passing game nearly impossible to stop.

Nick Cammett

One man who is interested in seeing this happen is none other than Stephen A. Smith. During today’s episode of First Take, Smith theorized that if the Green Bay Packers were to get their hands on Beckham Jr, then they would immediately go to the Super Bowl. Smith is a big fan of both OBJ and Rodgers, so it should come as no surprise that Smith would think a union between the two would lead to some pretty impeccable results.

At this point, any thought of OBJ going to the Packers is pure conjecture, although we’re sure there are Packers fans who are excited about this potential prospect. After all, Beckham Jr is an elite player and he would certainly increase his stats with Rodgers as his quarterback.

Drake’s Reluctant Portrayal Of A Paralyzed Student Receives Praise From The Nonprofit Wheelchairs 4 Kids

After Drake’s reluctance to allow his Degrassi character Jimmy to be paralyzed after an episode about a school shooting became public, his portrayal is now being praised by the leader of an organization dedicated to kids with mobility issues for helping normalize wheelchairs. Madeline Robinson, executive director of Wheelchair 4 Kids, told TMZ that Drake’s role — however reticent he initially was to play it — gave kids in wheelchairs confidence. “When was the last time you went to a mall and saw a kid in a wheelchair hanging out with other kids?” she wondered, saying it’s rare.

“It is great when we see our kids being represented,” Robinson asserted. That was the logic that the show’s producers used to get Drake on board with the character development when the actor threatened to quit after seeing the script, worried that it would have a negative effect on his then-nascent rap career. In AV Club’s oral history of Degrassi: The Next Generation, writer James Hurst recalled telling Drake, “Aubrey, there’s some kid somewhere in a wheelchair, who’s completely ignored, who’s never on television, never gets represented. I need you to represent this person. You’re the coolest kid on the show, and you can say there’s nothing wrong with being in a wheelchair.”

Drake is now arguably the biggest star in hip-hop, so it’s clear he’s surmounted his worries, however well-founded they may have been.
