Kid Cudi & Adele Meet Courtside At Lakers Game

Los Angeles Lakers games are always star-studded.

From Magic Johnson’s “Showtime” era to Shaq and Kobe’s dominant 2000s run to the current, LeBron-led iteration of the franchise, Lakers’ games have always doubled as legitimate Hollywood events. To sit courtside at a Lakers’ game means you are somebody, and for the team’s opening night matchup against the Golden State Warriors, the Staples Center was packed with a whole lot of somebodies.

From Justin Bieber to Floyd Mayweather to famed Lakers’ fanatic, Jack Nicholson, the arena was full of superstars, on and off the court. Two stars, however, stood out among the rest.

Kid Cudi, rocking a full, Space Jam 2-inspired “Tune Squad” uniform complete with a couple gold chains and half-blue, half-red hair, and Adele were both in attendance and, at some point during the Warriors 121-114 victory over the Lakers, the two music titans got the opportunity to meet each other.

Adele, decked out in a knee-length Louis Vuitton coat, strolled over to where Cudi sat next to Mayweather and, although we have no audio of the interaction, it looks the British singer introduced herself to the Man on the Moon rapper.

While it is unclear if the two had ever met each other in any capacity prior to Tuesday night’s game in LA, it’s always interesting to see legitimate superstars fan out over each other. Like we’ve recently seen with Cardi B and You star Penn Badgley, these people that are held in such high esteem are really just regular people who get excited to meet each other, just like fans would be excited to meet them.

Whether or not anything comes out of this quick, courtside chat is yet to be seen, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed for a Kid Cudi x Adele collab sometime in the future.

In the meantime, check out Adele’s new single “Easy On Me” below and let us know what you think in the comments.

Lil Baby Shares Unreleased Verse From Young Thug’s “Bubbly”

Young Thug and Lil Baby go way back. In case you didn’t know, Thugger is actually the reason why Lil Baby even has a music career today, paying the Atlanta rapper to quit the street life and start recording. They’ve worked together countless times and, in his recent interview with The Breakfast Club, Thug admitted that Baby was actually signed to YSL Records before he moved onto Quality Control

Lil Baby was featured on Thug’s last two full-length releases, So Much Fun and Slime Language 2, but he curiously wasn’t included on Punk. It turns out that Baby might have simply been feeling a little forgetful because, as he revealed in a new TikTok video, he actually recorded a verse for “Bubbly” with Drake and Travis Scott, but he forgot to send it back to Thugger.

“When young thug send you a song for his album an you forget to send it back,” wrote the rapper on TikTok, sharing a video of himself getting his hair cut from his barber. His verse on the song sounds pretty solid and fans are begging for this remix to be included on the inevitable deluxe edition of Punk.

As it stands, Punk is looking set for a #1 debut on the charts next week. However, a deluxe edition might be beneficial as, right now, Thug is neck-and-neck with Drake’s Certified Lover Boy for that spot. With a deluxe, he would drive more people to his album, which could push him over the edge to surpass Drake’s seventh week.

As far as numbers are concerned, DJ Akademiks recently came out and said that he doesn’t think Young Thug is a “big dog” in rap because he failed to sell over 100,000 units of his album the first week. Do you agree?

Akademiks Fires Shots At Rory & Mal, Says “If They Got $10M, I Got 30”

In a modern media landscape where podcasts have seemingly taken over as the most lucrative way for anybody to broadcast their thoughts to the masses, a podcast crew breaking up is treated like a band breaking up in the 80s.

When Rory Farrell and Mal, formerly of the Joe Budden Podcastdecided to leave the “Pump It Up” rapper and the podcast they had helped build, it was big news. And because Joe Budden is Joe Budden, things got heated, with both sides sending shots, some subliminal, some not, towards each other in what quickly became an ugly breakup.

But Rory and Mal really put JBP in their collective rearview and went out on their own, launching New Rory & Maltheir own podcast. Last week, Rory and Mal signed with SiriusXM’s Stitcher (the satellite radio conglomerate’s podcast platform) for a reported $10M.

In a recent appearance on the No Jumper podcast, internet rap personality DJ Akademiks had something to say about that.

When asked if he thinks Rory & Mal, who Akademiks has been critical of in the past, are trying to “sh*t” on him a little bit, Ak initially ducked the question before taking a not-so-ubtle shot

“I’m a student of the game,” Akademiks told No Jumper host Adam 22. “When I comment on anybody … there’s nothing I need to comment on, it’s obvious.”

Turning his full attention to Rory and Mal, Akademiks went off on the pair.

“Do you think anything the two stooges could do in business anywhere could shi*t on anything I’ve got going on?,” the Off The Record podcast host asked. “If they got $10 million, I got 30.”

Whether or not Akademiks has ever actually received $30M for his podcast is unclear, but what is clear is that he does not think much of Rory and Mal, their new podcast, or their reported contract. This isn’t the first time Akademiks has tried to big dog somebody, and it probably won’t be the last, but with the clear success of New Rory & Mal, it will be interesting to see if this becomes a feud that lasts over time.

Check out Akademiks’ full remarks on Rory and Mal below and let us know what you think down in the comments.

Fans Speculate New Kendrick Lamar Music Is Coming Soon After A Spotify Update

Over the past few months, there have been rumors about potential new Kendrick Lamar music coming soon. Now, fans are picking up on yet another clue and getting excited about possible fresh material from the rapper: Lamar stans noticed that the rapper’s profile picture on Spotify just changed for the first time since 2017. Some also noted that tomorrow (October 22) marks the ninth anniversary of Lamar’s 2012 album Good Kid, M.A.A.D City.

Online updates don’t always mean new material is coming, though. Fans got a taste of that disappointment this summer, when the imagery on Destiny’s Child social media pages was updated and had followers thinking the group was reuniting. However, Matthew Knowles, Beyonce’s father and the group’s manager, insisted the changes were just some routine maintenance done by the group’s record label and that no new music was imminent. So, it’s possible something like this is the case with Lamar, too.

In August, Lamar shared an update about his next album, saying it’s his last with Top Dawg Entertainment and noting, “As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years. The Struggles. The Success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood. May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling. There’s beauty in completion. And always faith in the unknown. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts. I’ve prayed for you all. See you soon enough.”

Donald Trump Announces New Social Media Platform “Truth Social”

Former President Donald Trump has officially announced the upcoming launch of his new social media platform, called TRUTH Social.

Over the years, one of Trump’s main points of contention with the media has been the “fake news” and misinformation being spread on sites like Facebook and Twitter. While much of that misinformation actually comes from his own base, Trump is attempting to “stand up to the tyranny of big tech” with the launch of TRUTH, which is expected to arrive in February 2022. The app is officially available for pre-order.

Trump was personally banned from Twitter and suspected from Facebook after his supporters stormed the Capitol on January 6. There was pressure to axe him from the platforms for sharing incredibly dangerous messages with the public, including some tweets about COVID-19 being far “less lethal” than the common flu.

“We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favourite American President has been silenced,” wrote Trump in a new press release. “Everyone asks me why doesn’t someone stand up to Big Tech? Well, we will be soon!”

TRUTH Social is also set to include an on-demand video service that features “non-woke” entertainment programming, news, podcasts, and more.

Do you think the launch of TRUTH Social will be a success?

On Wednesday, Snoop Dogg officially turned 50 years old, and one day later, it appears that the prolific West Coast legend still has plenty to celebrate. In a heartfelt post shared to Instagram, Snoop took a moment to honor his wife, high school sweetheart, and business partner: Shante Broadus.

Wizards’ Montrezl Harrell Gets Technical Foul For Talking Sh*t To Drake

After COVID-19 restrictions forced the Toronto Raptors to play their home games in Tampa Bay last season, the team has returned to ScotiaBank Arena and brought their number-one fan and master troll, Drake, with them.

Last night, during the first half of Toronto’s opening night matchup with the Washington Wizards, Drizzy got to chatting with Washington’s newly-acquired forward, Montrezl Harrell. What exactly was said between the two is unclear, but like he has with NBA greats like Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Kevin Durant, Drake clearly got under Harrell’s skin and he ended up paying the price.

While Drizzy sat smiling in his usual courtside seats, Harrell receieved his first technical foul of the season for talking sh*t with the Certified Lover Boy rapper. Things didn’t get too heated, but as Harrell tried to explain to referees what happened, it was clear Drake’s troll job had gotten the best of him.

Raptors’ guard Fred VanVleet stepped to the charity stripe and knocked down the technical free throw (shoutout Drake, earning his favorite team an extra point) before play resumed.

Harrell was ultimately victorious, scoring 22 points to go along with Bradley Beal’s 23 points, as the Wizards bested the Raptors 98-83, but deep down, we all know Drake got to him. One technical foul doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things, but where Durant and other great players have been able to ignore The Six God’s sideline jabs, Harrell couldn’t resist. He had to send some shots back Drizzy’s way and paid the price for it.

What do you think of Harrell getting T’d up for his back-and-forth with Drake? Let us know in the comments.

R. Kelly Placed On Suicide Watch: Report

R. Kelly’s lawyer appeared before a judge on Wednesday, where he revealed that the disgraced singer had been placed on suicide watch following his guilty conviction.

The “I Believe I Can Fly” singer was recently convicted of sex trafficking charges, and he is set to go on trial in Chicago on child pornography charges next summer. Kelly’s defense hasn’t changed much over the months and according to his lawyer, the singer was placed on suicide watch shortly after his verdict was read in the sex trafficking trial. However, he has since been removed from the watch.

Kelly has been jailed in New York since 2019 without bail, and he’s facing four other charges in Chicago, as well as a child prostitution charge in Minnesota. During his New York trial, Kelly’s marriage to an underage Aaliyah was the topic of much discussion, as a jury found him guilty of bribing a public aid official to obtain a fake ID for Aaliyah, who was 15-years-old at the time, so they could get illegally married.

Kelly is presently facing anywhere from 10 to 100 years in prison.

We will continue to keep you updated as more news comes out regarding R. Kelly’s upcoming trial. He is set to appear in a Chicago court next year, in August 2022.
