Silk Sonic Croons Their Way Into Your Heart On “An Evening With Silk Sonic”

This has been an album that fans have been begging for throughout the year and now, we have finally received Silk Sonic’s project. The dynamic collective consists of Anderson .Paak, Bruno Mars, and their team of talented musicians who have effortlessly blended the retro sounds of the ‘70s with a modern take on R&B. When they first formally announced their collaboration with “Leave the Door Open,” fans couldn’t get enough of the single. On Friday (November 12), they have returned with An Evening with Silk Sonic, and Paak and Mars caught up with Rolling Stone months ago to explain why they wanted to make “feel good” music.

“We had a record that was, I guess the word is ‘heavier’ content, as far as subject matter,” said Bruno Mars. “Me and him were harmonizing and singing the sh*t out of it, but I remember having a conversation, saying, ‘Man, I don’t know if we want to take this turn on this album.’ We’re producing a feeling, and an emotion, so let’s sleep on this. After the session, Andy went to his house, and I’m playing the record, and I go to this song and I say, ‘I gotta stop by Andy’s.’ I drive over there and tell him, ‘Come outside.’”

“He gets in the car, I press play, and immediately he says, ‘Turn. That. Sh*t. Off’.” The track went in the trash that night. “We’ve been working on this song for weeks, but hearing it outside the walls of the studio, it was that quick. ‘I don’t wanna feel like this! Why are you guys making me feel like this?’”

Wack 100 Doesn’t Think Tory Lanez Shot Megan Thee Stallion, Questions Her Injury

As the trial date approaches for Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion’s shooting case, conversations regarding the July 2020 incident have once again taken center stage. There have been thousands of articles written about this event in addition to the numerous social media posts, debates, and fights over who shot Megan. She has publicly accused her former friend, Lanez, of being the person responsible, but there are many others in the industry who do not believe she is telling the truth.

According to reports, Megan was shot in the foot while sitting in a car with her ex-best friend Kelsey Nicole, Lanez, and a bodyguard. Kelsey has not publicly given her side of the story, but some have accused her of being in cahoots with Lanez.

Wack 100 is adding his thoughts to the discussion and appeared on Clubhouse. In a clip shared online, Wack is heard speaking about whether or not Megan was really shot because she walked backward with her hands in the air when police arrived at the scene. He initially denied that she was truly injured until someone else verified that Megan underwent surgery.

He also speculated about Lanez rejecting a plea deal, stating that if the Canadian artist took the deal, he would have been deported. Additionally, Wack made it clear that he does not believe that Lanez shot Megan at all and he doesn’t think that Megan was shot in the foot. Listen to him explain his position below.

Casanova Was Charged With Attempted Murder In Relation To His Federal Racketeering Case

It’s been nearly a year since Casanova, born Caswell Senior, was arrested on racketeering charges and more after the FBI connect him to a gang known as the “Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation.” The rapper was one of 18 members arrested and each was accused of firearm possession, conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, and unemployment fraud, all of which were wrapped under the racketeering charge. Unfortunately for Casanova, things have gotten worse for him as he was recently charged with attempted murder in relation to the racketeering case.

According to a report from XXL, the additional charge came through a superseding indictment that was handed down earlier this week. Casanova and another individual are being charged for an alleged shooting that took place at Miami’s King Of Diamonds on October 24, 2020. The charge claims he and one of his co-defendants Jarrett “Jaycee” Crisler Jr. were at the club when a rival gang member took issue with Casanova for throwing up his gang sign. The victim said, “Yo homie, wrong sign,” and Casanova replied, “You want to die tonight?” Words were exchanged before Casanova and Crisler Jr. shot two people.

The victims were taken to the hospital shortly after and treated for their wounds. Investigators discovered Casanova and Crisler’s alleged involvement in the incident after seeing Crisler brag about the shooting through text messages on his phone.

“We had been informed that the government intended to supersede the existing indictment and add charges against Mr. Senior,” Casanova’s attorney, James Kousouros said to XXL in response to the new charge. “This was expected. We have been investigating the incidents charged for months and Mr. Senior fully intends to contest these charges at a trial. He is confident of his exoneration. He surrendered voluntarily when he learned of the indictment last year. He did not run or hide. He looks forward to his day in court.”

Pressa Claims “Americans Got No Culture” & Criticizes People Calling Themselves “Black”

Of all the artists to ruffle feathers on social media, Pressa isn’t usually one of them. The Canadian rapper has kept a relatively low profile outside of his public relationship with Coi Leray, but either than these two showing off their world for the masses, Pressa isn’t a rapper that finds himself entangled with social media drama or backlash. That is until Thursday (November 11).

It is unclear what prompted Pressa to set off a few tweets about Black Americans, but he had a few observations that caused a firestorm online.

“Americans got no culture their biggest culture is Hip Hop mtfs dont even know what island they from they just BLACK like the color [black square emoji][crying laughing emoji],” he tweeted. “N*ggas be like im BLACK no n*gga u built like a mtf Nigerian [black square emoji][black circle emoji].”

The message may have been brief, but it packed a punch as thousands of retweets and shares on various social media platforms have elicited scathing responses. Some opted to drop history lessons of the diaspora and Slave Trade, while others called the rapper out for being insensitive toward Black Americans who do not know their ancestry and culture prior to the Americas.

Pressa has not responded to the backlash, but you can read through a few reactions below. Also, make sure to check out our interview: Toronto Legend Pressa Is Making A Name For Himself In America.

Toosii Believes Some Artists Are “Dragging It” By Checking On Fans Following Astroworld

As more information about what occurred as Astroworld continues to be released, the more we see Travis Scott facing an increasing backlash. The rapper went from being one of the top-selling artists in the world to becoming an industry pariah as both people and companies distance themselves. There have been rumors that Scott has been edited out of the Kardashian-Jenner’s new reality show and since Astroworld last weekend, more footage of artists stopping their shows to check on their fans has surfaced.

Many people have supported Scott during this time, stating that no one knew of the devastation happening in the audience. Yet, there are reports that officials were told to stop the show altogether because there were so many injuries, and old footage of Scott telling his fans to “rage” has made the rounds.

Toosii reportedly shared his thoughts in a since-deleted tweet where he complained about people seemingly jumping on an anti-Travis Scott bandwagon by appearing as though they have been paying attention to their audiences when that may not be the case.

“Why all these artists dragging it now that sh*t just happened with travis?” he wrote. “Now everybody just wanna check on they fans? y’all ain’t been giving a f*ck about the fans some of y’all don’t even take pictures with them.” Scott has reportedly lost sponsorship deals and even canceled a show overseas where he was reportedly set to earn $5.5 million.

Lil Nas X Will Appear On ‘Maury’ After Finding Himself In A Shocking Love Triangle

Back in September, Lil Nas X shared his long-awaited debut album Montero, and with it came a music video for “That’s What I Want.” The visual sees Lil Nas fall for a teammate on his football team, and while their relationship quickly progresses, the singer soon finds out that his new partner is living a secret life. Lil Nas learns that his lover actually has a wife and a child, and just like anyone would do after a discovery like this, he decided a visit to Maury was absolutely necessary.

On November 17, Lil Nas will appear on the popular show to sort out the love triangle. The news was shared through a dramatic trailer that shows Lil Nas’ shocked reaction to learning that the “love of his life,” Yai Ariza, is living a secret life. As expected, the episode is packed with dramatic moments like Ariza submitting a paternity test to find out if he’s the father of his 4-year-old son. He also offers a ring to Lil Nas, who dramatically runs away, in the brief trailer. Maury, is clearly amused by the dramatic events as he asks, “Is Yai the dad…or will Montero get exactly what he wants?”

Ariza is also the real-life ex-boyfriend of Lil Nas, something the singer spoke about in a previous interview. “We were dating, and we are still on very good terms,” he said during a conversation on SiriusXM. “You know, we may date again I’m sure. I love him, he is amazing.”

You can watch the trailer in the video above and check out the full episode when it airs next Wednesday.

Ahmaud Arbery Trial Defense Laments “We Don’t Want Anymore Black Pastors In Here”

Community leaders from around the country have reached out and stood beside the family of Ahmaud Arbery. The investigation into the death of the 25-year-old has been tedious as Ahmaud’s face was plastered across the United States in an effort to seek justice for his shooting death. The young man was jogging in his Georgia neighborhood with Travis and Gregory McMichael, father and son, followed Ahaud under the guise that he was a thief. Their associate, William Bryan, was also on their tail in another vehicle when Ahmaud was confronted, shot, and killed on the road.

The trial for the three men is underway and in solidarity, Black leaders like Al Sharpton have appeared in the courtroom alongside Ahmaud’s relatives for support. It is something that Bryan’s lawyer, Kevin Gough, made clear that he does not want to see happen as the trial continues.

A video of Gough addressing the court shows him questioning why several Black leaders and pastors have shown face, many of whom do not live in the local area. He claimed that these leaders may be there to practice intimidation toward the jury.

“We don’t want any more Black pastors coming in here,” said Gough, specifically mentioning Sharpton. “I’m guessing he was there at the invitation of the victim’s family in this case. And I have nothing personal against Mr. Sharpton. My concern is that it’s one thing for the family to be present. It’s another thing to ask for the lawyers to be present.”

“But if we’re going to start a precedent, starting yesterday, where we’re going to bring high-profile members of the African American community into the courtroom to sit with the family during the trial in the presence of the jury, I believe that’s intimidating and it’s an attempt to pressure — could be consciously or unconsciously — an attempt to pressure or influence the jury.”

“We have school board members, we have county commissioners, we have all kinds of pastors in this town. Over 100. And the idea that we’re going to be serially bringing these people in to sit with the victim’s family, one after another, obviously there’s only so many pastors they can have,” Gough said. “And if their pastor right now is Al Sharpton, that’s fine. Then that’s it. We don’t want any more Black pastors coming in here … trying to influence the jury in this case.”

After the video of the moment circulated online, Gough has been on the receiving end of harsh criticism. Sharpton later stated that he was invited by the Arbery family and did not disrupt the proceedings in any way.

“This is pouring salt into their wounds,” Sharpton said. “I respect the defense attorney doing his job but this is beyond defending your client, it is insulting the family of the victim.” Watch Gough’s speech and Sharpton’s response below.

Meek Mill Announces Social Media Break: “I See Too Much Crazy Sh*t!”

Days ago, a video of Young Thug speaking about social media went viral. The YSL icon briefly addressed scrolling through timelines and feeling depressed, and it is a complaint that social media users have expressed for years. Many platforms have tried to curtail negative feelings while accessing certain sites and apps, but users instead take matters into their own hands and remove themselves from the internet, albeit temporarily.

Social media breaks have become the norm and Meek Mill announced that it might be time for him to bow out for a while.

“About to take a break from social media … I see too much crazy sh*t!” Meek tweeted. “Being a young kid gotta be confusing as sh*t in these times of social media….. I be lost seeing some of this stuff.”

Meek didn’t specify what brought on this need to take a social media sabbatical or what he has been viewing that makes him feel “lost.” However, the Philadelphia rapper has received support online from others who co-signed his sentiments and believe that social media has shifted the way people look at themselves, as well as the world as a whole.

Check out his tweets below and let us know if you think social media breaks are necessary.
