Baby Tate Joins The “Bruised” Soundtrack With New Solo Track “Dungarees”

Later this month, Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry will be making her directorial debut with Netlfix’s Bruised, but before fans get the opportunity to watch the MMA-themed film, they will first be treated to Bruised‘s official soundtrack. As previously reported, the album will be an all-female effort, and artists such as H.E.R., City Girls, Cardi B, Saweetie, Latto, Flo Milli, and more will be featured on the unique soundtrack.

A week before Bruised (Soundtrack From and Inspired By The Netflix Film hits DSPs, another single has been shared from the project, and it arrives in the form of a solo Baby Tate track.

Titled “Dungarees,” Baby Tate’s Bruised placement finds the Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star dropping bar after bar over a bass-heavy beat from Grammy-nominated producer Bizness Boi. The opportunity to be involved in such a historical movie soundtrack isn’t lost on the new Warner signee either. Tate recently spoke on the opportunity by saying, “I’m so grateful to be a part of the FIRST EVER all female soundtrack for @halleberry’s new movie #Bruised.”

Watch the lyric video for “Dungarees” below, and let us know if Baby Tate’s solo track has you excited to hear the rest of the Bruised soundtrack.

Cordae Calls Out Phony Black Entertainers: “It’s A Lot Of Oreo Ass N****s”

Cordae has always been an advocate for Black issues in America. While fighting for these causes, he hopes that his peers in the music industry will show solidarity and support.

However, Cordae has not gotten that vibe lately, and sounded off on Twitter on Thursday (Nov. 11) about the tendencies of industry folk saying: “It’s a lot of Oreo ass n****s in this entertainment shit.”

He is likely touching on how Black entertainers have been consumed by white influence and act “Black” on the outside but now have white tendencies on the inside.

Before then, he let off a pair of tweets about how support for the Black community is only shown when it is convenient for people: “Most of these entertainers only pro black when it’s convenient. Or when it’s “cool”.”

While it isn’t know what prompted Cordae to lash out, these tweets come just days after he offered to support Howard University, a Historically Black college who has been in turmoil lately due to student protests about poor living conditions. Cordae tweeted to find ways he could help students financially: “Dear Howard students, how and where can I directly donate and or be of service to the cause ?”

Cordae is not new to this type of support either, as he was seen protesting the murder of Breonna Taylor last summer in Kentucky. He was actually arrested during the protest, but was able to dodge a felony charge.

Perhaps this two-faced behavior from his Black colleagues in the music industry is what led him to establish his own label Hi Level in May, 100% owned by him.

It seems as Cordae becomes a seasoned voice in the entertainment business, he learns more about its harsh reality.

Check out Cordae’s angry tweets below.

Soulja Boy Says Fans Need To Be More Vigilant Following Astroworld Tragedy

Soulja Boy says that fans need to be more aware of their surroundings at concerts in the wake of the mass casualty event at Travis Scott’s 2021 Astroworld Festival, where nine people were killed and hundreds more were injured.

As for how everyone can keep shows safer going forward, Soulja explained, “You just gotta hope that people can, you know, just enjoy themselves in the crowd, and it don’t be a lot of extra activities going on. You know what I’m saying? But we got it under control. Y’all come to the Millenium Tour, man, we good.”

“You got to always check your surroundings, you feel me?” he continued. “Because if you get caught up in the concert and everybody got their phones out, you don’t even know what’s going on around you. You know what I’m saying? So you just really got to be aware of your surroundings, baby, we’re in New York City.”

Scott has been in hot water since the festival, with many  fans questioning, not only why he didn’t stop his performance to help fans, but why he was at Dave & Buster’s after the show partying.

“Travis didn’t really understand the full effect of everything until the next morning,” the rapper’s lawyer, Edwin F. McPherson, explained in a statement, this week.

After Ye’s Infamous Taylor Swift VMAs Moment, He Did An ‘Exile’ To Japan Because ‘America Hated’ Him

It goes without saying, but Ye (formerly Kanye West) and Taylor Swift have had a famously contentious relationship since the infamous stage-crashing incident at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Now, Ye has revealed that the situation really impacted him, so much so that during the aftermath, he fled to Japan.

The second part of Ye’s recent Drink Champs interview is out now, and in it, he revealed (as Pitchfork notes) that after the VMAs, he “did a personal exile” with Virgil Abloh in Japan because “all of America hated” him. He also said, “Everyone was like, ‘You wrong for this one, you won’t win this,’ by telling me, ‘You shouldn’t have ran on stage, you were rude,’ God forbid.”

He also addressed the VMAs in the previously released first part of the interview, saying, “I was actually talked in to going to the awards show. At that time, it was [my manager] Don C.’s job to talk me into stuff. They find new people whose job would be to talk me into doing something that I don’t want to do — influencers, people around you. So that night, I said, ‘Man, I’m not going to this awards show. I’m not sitting through this no more.’ And the very first award, they sit me in the front row. You got [Beyoncé’s] ‘Single Ladies’ video… this is one of the best videos in history. So it’s not that it’s just for her when the artist does something that’s that compelling and incredible. We got to respect it.”

DaBaby & 21 Savage Talk Blicks & Sticks On “STICKED UP”

For an artist who dropped three full-length albums in the two-year span between 2019 and 2020, DaBaby has been somewhat low-key this year, at least in terms of music. The rapper did make plenty of headlines for getting “canceled” this summer after making inappropriate and homophobic comments at Rolling Loud, but three months later, DaBaby appears to already be settling back into his role as a respected mainstream artist.

In a matter of weeks, the Charlotte, North Carolina-bred rapper will be embarking on the 22-date Live Show Killa Tour, and before he officially hits the road, DaBaby has dropped off a new six-track EP titled Back On My Baby Jesus Sh!t Again.

On the final song on the project, DaBaby taps 21 Savage for a charismatic guest verse, making “STICKED UP” the Atlanta artist’s second noteworthy feature this week, following Rick Ross’ “Outlawz.” Both of the artists sound great over the creeping production from Uzoharbor, Tommy Parker, and Pilgrim, so be sure to give the well-executed track a listen below. Let us know if you’re feeling DaBaby and 21 Savage’s slow-paced collab in the comments, and check out the rest of the Back On My Baby Jesus Sh!t Again EP here.

Quotable Lyrics

Chop in the back and it came with a scope
People took from me, I gave ’em the most
You niggas small fries, I got a coupon
Mention my name and it come with free smoke
You wanna slide, I show you the ropes
Bring you some gloves, but don’t bring your phone

Joe Biden Calls Satchel Paige “The Great Negro” In Newest Slip Up

While giving a Veterans Day address at Arlington National Cemetery on Thursday, President Joe Biden mistakingly called Satchel Paige “the great negro” while recalling a story about the baseball legend. Biden was honoring former U.S. Ambassador to Hungary Donald Blinken.

“I’ve adopted the attitude of the great negro at the time, pitcher of the Negro leagues, who went on to become a great pitcher in the pros — in Major League Baseball — after Jackie Robinson. His name was Satchel Paige,” Biden told the crowd.

He continued: “And Satchel Paige on his 47th birthday pitched a win against Chicago. And all the press went in and said, ‘Satch is amazing. Forty-seven years old. No one’s ever, ever pitched a win at age 47. How do you feel about being 47?’ He said, ‘Boys, that’s not how I look at it.’ And they said, ‘How do you look at it, Satch? And he said, ‘I look at it this way: How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you were?’”

Paige moved to Major League Baseball in the late 1940s, but his career as a whole spanned five decades. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1971.

Russ Shares Follow-Up To His 2015 Hit, “Losin Control, Pt.2”

Days after the sixth anniversary of one of his most beloved tracks, “Losin Control,” Russ has shared “Losin Control, Pt. 2,” a long awaited sequel to his Soundcloud hit.

On part two, Russ sings about letting go of a past lover that he knows isn’t good for him. “Can’t go back to you/I know it’s sad, it’s true/Can’t hold you in my arms, I’ll hold you in my heart/I’m here to let you know, I need to let you go/That’s not my life no more/This isn’t right no more, no more,” the second verse starts.

The nearly four-minute long release has the same slow vibe as its predecessor, although this time around, instead of promising to catch a girl who’s falling for him, the recording artist is turning away from toxic love. It clearly speaks to the evolution and growth that Russ has experienced throughout his career thus far.

Upon dropping “Losin Control, Pt. 2” at midnight, Russ took to his Instagram page, joking with his followers by telling them to “go cry” to his emotional new song. Over the past few weeks, the New Jersey native has shared several other tracks, including “Seduce,” “When This Was All New,” and “Utah Freestyle.”

What are your thoughts on Russ’ sequel? Let us know below.

Quotable Lyrics:

I knew you for a while, so it’s hard to just cut you off (You off)
But I gotta do what’s right, it ain’t fair to the girl I got (I got)
So I walk out the door while the tears walk down your face (Face)
As you cry out to me

Travis Scott’s Attorney Speaks Out, Says Rapper Didn’t Realize Scope Of Tragedy Until Next Day

Following the tragedy last week at Astroworld Festival, for which the death toll has reached 9 after 22-year-old university student Bharti Shahani passed away from her injuries on Thursday, rapper Travis Scott’s attorney Edwin F. McPherson has issued a statement via GMA, claiming that his client didn’t know the scope of the tragedy until the following day.

It has been widely reported that nine people died at Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas a week ago, and hundreds more were injured in a crowd surge. Travis’ attorney issued a statement on Thursday, offering support to the victims’ families and providing a contact for them to reach out to the rapper’s team. On Friday, Attorney McPherson appeared on GMA to address questions about Travis’ involvement in the surge.

Scott’s attorney said that authorities are looking to get to the bottom of what happened before pointing fingers, but he did say that the “mass casualty” declaration never made it to Travis or anybody on his team.

“It absolutely did not,” he said. “In fact, we’ve seen footage of police half an hour later just walking about and not looking like it was a mass casualty event. But the important thing is that never got to Travis, it never got to Travis’ crew. He’s up there trying to perform, he does not have any ability to know what’s going on down below, certainly on a mass level.”

He went on to say that Travis didn’t realize how serious the situation had gotten until the next day, which explains why he was so comfortable partying at Dave & Buster’s after the show.

“Travis didn’t really understand the full effect of everything until the next morning,” says his attorney. “Truly, he did not know what was going on. As you can see from [a now-viral video], he’s on a riser and he sees one boy down, and he actually stops the show, asks security to get to that person. There were a couple of other times, once with, you say an ambulance but it looked more like a golf cart with some lights, he wasn’t sure what that was but he actually stopped the show for that, told people to get aside if they’re okay, put their hands up. There was one other incident right in front of him, but understand that when he’s up on the stage and he has flash pods going off around him and he has an ear monitor that has music blasting through it and his own voice, he can’t hear anything, he can’t see anything.”

Travis’ attorney concluded by saying that he doesn’t think the artist “incited” the crowd by telling them to rage, claiming that that’s just like any other show.

“I don’t think so, I think it’s nothing more than any other performer wants, you want your audience to be engaged. You want them to be standing up, you don’t want them to be sitting down, I know he didn’t have anything like this in mind. He wanted them to be engaged, he wanted them to have a good time, we’re coming out of COVID, this is what this festival was about.”

We will keep you updated on any further statements from Travis Scott or his team.
