Locksmith & Jarren Benton Link Up With Oba Rowland To Take Us “Out The Box”

Over the past week, Locksmith has eagerly been teasing followers about his latest single, “Out The Box.” The new release sees the 36-year-old link up with Jarren Benton and Oba Rowland, and features production by Decap.

Locksmith’s enthusiasm for his song is clear, and we can see why. The nearly 4-minute long track relentlessly and consistently throws quick, clever lyrics at listeners over a complimentary, almost eerie at times, beat.

Back in April, the California native shared The Lock Sessions Vol. 2, which saw him team up with an impressive roster of artists including KXNG Crooked, Lazarus, Atmosphere, Mark Battles, JAG, and Martin Luther McCoy, just to name a few.

Lock’s Instagram comments are full of flame emojis following the release of “Out The Box,” with one listener even calling the hitmaker his “favourite lyricist.” Others told Locksmith that he “never disappoints,” proving that the trio’s new track is a certified hit (with some audiences, anyway).

Is there anyone else you’d like to see Locksmith collaborate with on his future endeavours? Drop a comment and let us know.

There’s never been a gap in between what I felt was my dream

And the bug that bit me

If a slug had hit me

Haviah Mighty Raises The Price On “Stock Exchange”

A pandemic is enough to slow any artist down but Haviah Mighty’s has kept it pushing. The Canadian rapper’s been slowly unveiling heat across the year with singles like “Avocado” ft. Grandtheft, and the Astrokidjay-assisted, “Coulda Been U.”

On Friday, Mighty came through with her latest project, Stock Exchange in its entirety. The rapper’s follow-up to 13th Floor finds Haviah diving into international sounds with collaborators from across the globe. Grime artists like Yizzy, Latin MC Mala Rodriguez, and Rhythm + Flow contestant Old Man Sax make appearances across the tracklist, along with artists like TOBi, Jalen Santoy, and more.

“These statistics that we use to compare ourselves to others and to define our successes, have become proof of our worth. It’s all perception,” Mighty said in a statement. “These ideas around perceived value got me thinking about the Stock Exchange. Seeing parallels between the way it flows — the constant rising and falling — all dictated by the general public’s perception of an entity’s value, and ultimately how that influences the moves that we make as individuals.”

50 Cent Reveals How He De-Aged Eminem To Play White Boy Rick In “BMF”

Sunday has arrived and finally, fans can watch episode 7 of BMF. The 50 Cent-executive produced series launched in September and has only grown in popularity. However, there were issues that presented themselves last week when Fif revealed that STARZ uploaded the episode for three hours before removing it off of their platform. What was worse for Fif is that it’s his directing debut for the series.

Fans finally got to catch up with the story of Big Meech and Southwest T this morning but ahead of the episode, Fif offered Entertainment Weekly into the process of directing the episode, specifically enrolling Eminem to play the role of White Boy Rick. “When Eminem found out I was directing, he committed to do it, and working together was natural,” he explained. “It was an honor to have him on the show and it made this episode extra special.”

The thing is Em is inching towards 50-years-old while Richard “White Boy Rick” Wersche Jr. was only a teenager when he became the youngest FBI informant through his work in Detroit’s illegal underground circuit. Fif explained that it was inevitable that de-aging technology was used, even if Em’s appearance was brief.

“The technology that they used to de-age him was the same thing they used in The Irishman,” Jackson said. “Em actually has a beard, so they first took the hair out of his face using the technology, and then they de-aged him all the way down.”

The latest episode of BMF is out now. Let us know your thoughts in the comment section.

Cardi B Opens Up About Her Hair Growth Journey

You may take one look at Cardi B and think that she’s got some fantastic hair, but the truth is, it’s taken her a lifetime to get her luscious locks to where they are today. Yesterday, the mother of two logged into Instagram to share the story of her hair care journey with her 114 million followers.

“Why everytime I post my natural hair I hear ‘you’re MIXED you’re supposed to have long hair?’” the 29-year-old wrote. “That’s not true and very misleading. I been posting pics of my hair journey for years and being mixed don’t mean your hair is always long and curly, that wasn’t my case.”

Cardi then shared that she’s seriously struggled with managing her mane in the past, and she’s only just recently found methods that work for her. “They’ll try to make us believe our hair won’t grow that long, it’s not true. A lot of hair products we used back then wasn’t good for our hair but that’s all we had to choose from, also we couldn’t afford to go to the salon regularly, if at all.”

Thankfully, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper is always making money moves, so she can afford to give her tresses the love that they deserve while picking up new tips and tricks from natural hair creators on platforms like YouTube and TikTok.

“I want women of color with tighter curl patterns to know that you don’t have ‘BAD HAIR,’ there’s no such thing as bad hair, and ‘good’ hair don’t mean a certain texture. ALL HAIR IS GOOD.”

The New York native urged readers to check out her “HAIR DAY” highlight on IG to see what kinds of masks Cardi frequently uses on her and her daughter’s healthy hair.

Kembe X Wants To Be “Cozy Forever”

There’s an undeniable feeling of security that comes from having everything you need and more, which is exactly what Kembe X raps about on “Cozy Forever.” The new track features production by Wolf and Oliver Taylor with Vic Ekpo on the strings, and artwork by @bunnievision.

Things have been relatively quiet on Kembe X’s front as far as singles go this year. Ahead of his latest drop-off, the Chicago native also shared “Staring At J Dilla” in collaboration with Dave B. back in July, and “Under Pressure (The Smoking Peanut)” featuring Rexx Life Raj in February.

The rapper’s Instagram comment section is full of love for “Cozy Forever.” “On these n*ggas NECKS!” one listener wrote. “Going crazy per f*cking usual,” someone else added.

Kembe X hasn’t released an album since 2019’s I Was Depressed Until I Made This, but if his latest efforts are any indication of what’s to come, then fans will be elated to hear of the star’s future plans whenever he decides to announce them.

Freddie Gibbs Leads “F*ck Akademiks” Chant At Day N Vegas

The feud between Freddie Gibbs and Akademiks is not one we’d expect to be dragging on for this long but it seems that both parties are willing to take it to the grave if needed. Though it began a few weeks ago, things have escalated in recent weeks. Ak, the best friend to Tekashi 6ix9ine, attempted to accuse Freddie Gibbs of cooperating with authorities before revealing that the Gary, IN rapper’s father actually worked in law enforcement.

Things have settled down from the back-and-forth on Twitter but Freddie Gibbs has continued to turn the beef into a marketing opportunity. As you recall, he once printed limited edition “F*ck Akademiks” t-shirts with the media personality’s face photoshopped onto the body of a Teletubby. Most recently, he unveiled the list of producers on his forthcoming album with the hashtag #FuckAkademiks included.

Freddie Gibbs has now taken the beef with Akademiks to the stage. The rapper performed at Day N Vegas festival on Saturday night where he got into a bit of inappropriate banter about Fentanyl to the crowd’s displeasure, though his humor ultimately defused the situation. Before jumping into “Something To Rap About,” Gibbs proceeded to launch his usual “Fuck Police” chant during the intro. However, he switched it up and had the crowd chanting “Fuck Akademiks,” earning him a louder reaction than his previous call-to-response.

Safe to say that the Day N Vegas crowd is rocking with Gangsta Gibbs in this beef.

Amber Mark Flips Vintage Craig David On “Softly” Single

In her latest offering, songstress Amber Mark reaches into the archives as she and co-producer Julian Bunetta craft backdrop to her newest “Softly” cut. The track samples Craig David’s “Rendezvous” track, plucked from the UK singer’s Born To Do It album, updating it with a similar motif as Amber swoons over a sensual meetup of her own.

“Softly” arrives as the fifth in a selection of singles designed to preview her forthcoming Three Dimensions Deep album, set to arrive on January 28th before the singer sets off on a global tour.

She describes the album, her first since 2018, as “a musical journey of what questions you begin to ask yourself when you start looking to the universe for answers […] I can only go as deep as the third dimension as that’s how we see the world, but what about when you start looking to the universe within for answers.”

Listen to “Softly” below.

Rico Nasty Jumps Into Crowd After Bottle Gets Thrown At Her

Rico Nasty has been makin the rounds as support on Playboi Carti’s most recent Narcissist King Vamp tour. With both artists being known for their “raging” qualities, for lack of a better word, it’s no surprise that fans can get unruly during their shows. At a recent stop, however, that unruliness turned into straight disrespect in one of its more common forms as a concertgoer reportedly threw a bottle at Rico while performing.

Now, we’ve seen different artists take different approaches to such matters, ranging from disregard to stop a show altogether to fin the culprit. Rico chose to lean toward the latter of the two this time around.

“Who, b*tch? Be specific […] who was it? Who the f-ck was it? Who the f-ck was it? Where they going? Somebody come get this,” Rico yells over the mic before she is seen hopping off stage and lunging into the crowd.

The moment seemed to be a final straw for Rico, whose run on tour has been particularly plagued by Carti’s legion of fans, who have been blatantly disrespecting the rapper during her sets. She took to Twitter to accuse the fans of being a “Anti Black ass crowd” among other statements that expressed her frustration with the tour.

Kanye West Clones Took Over The Streets Of New York City This Weekend

As he continues to make headlines for his back-to-back appearances on Drink Champs, it seems that the artist formerly known as Kanye West is also hard at work promoting the forthcoming deluxe release of his latest album, DONDA. Over the weekend, people wandering down the streets of New York City ran into a gang of Ye clones, wearing all-black ensembles complete with puffer jackets, hats, and of course, the recording artist’s signature headphones.

To take things a step further, the “Jesus Walks” rapper also had his lookalikes wear one of the eerie face masks he’s been seen rocking as of late, getting rid of any doubt people may have had that the walking advertisement could possibly be for anyone else.

Videos posted to DJ Akademiks’ page show the group of wannabe Kanye’s posing for photos with people as they take over the streets, walking in a large group, making them even harder to miss. Seeing as billboards for DONDA (Deluxe) have been popping up in Los Angeles over the past few days, it’s likely that this is another way to get people talking about the forthcoming release.

“Kanye West Presents Donda Deluxe,” a black screen with font at the very bottom outside of 1Oak reads. A release date for the project is still pending, but now that it’s been over two months since the original album dropped, now’s as good a time as any for Ye to feed his hungry fans.

The original installment came with a 27 song long tracklist, so we can’t begin to imagine what the Yeezy creator has in store for us next – we can only hope that it has something to do with the Andre 3000 collab, “Life of the Party.”
