RZA Says An Ol’ Dirty Bastard Biopic Is In The Works

The story of the Wu-Tang Clan is one of the most interesting in hip hop history, and over the past couple of years, there have been multiple efforts to bring that story to the small screen.

Beginning with Showtime’s Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men, a four-episode television documentary series that looks “back on the group’s career, combining intimate and reflective interviews from each of the nine living members with never-before-seen archival footage and performances,” and transitioning to Wu-Tang: An American Sagaa Hulu original series starring Ashton Sanders, Shameik Moore and Dave East, the Wu-Tang story has been adapted for television twice, and according to the group’s de facto leader, RZA, there is a third project in the works.

In a recent interview with MIC, RZA touched on everything from Marvel movies to Martin Shkreli, and revealed that a biopic featuring the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard is in the works.

“The documentary was to capture the story as best we can in the reality of it, and then the TV series was to dramatize it,” RZA told MIC. “The third tier of the plan, which I’m in progress of, is an ODB movie biopic. Like the five-year Wu-Tang plan, this was a five-year media plan that I concocted, I meditated on, and I’m striving to live out. So far, it’s working well.”

Ol’ Dirty Bastard, or ODB, passed away in 2004, but remains the most iconic member of the Wu-Tang Clan to this day. A biopic dedicated to his life is surely something hip hop fans, and Wu-Tang fans specifically, would be excited for, and based on the quality of Showtime’s documentary, Hulu’s original series and RZA’s dedication to telling the story as accurately as possible, it would be the closest thing to hearing the story from ODB himself.

Keep it locked to HNHH for any updates on the potential biopic and, in the meantime, drop your favorite ODB song or verse down in the comments.

Make-A-Wish Patient Gets His Own Air Jordan 1 FlyEase PE

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is an incredibly important institution as it has effectively allowed thousands of kids to live out their dreams amid horrible illnesses. Jordan Brand has certainly seen a few sneaker-related wishes in the past, and recently, they received one from a 13-year-old kid named Jordan Carranza who has been dealing with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. His biggest dream has always been to create his own shoe, and that’s exactly what he got to do.

In the images below, you can see that Carranza worked on the Air Jordan 1 FlyEase which is meant to be a shoe for those with physical disabilities. Throughout the shoe, Carranza opted for a blue, white, and black aesthetic, all while delivering some custom logos throughout. On the insole, you can read the phrase “Just because you’re disabled doesn’t mean that your dream can’t come true.” It’s a wonderful message, and the colorway of the shoe is pretty great as it pays homage to other classic Jordan Brand offerings.

Unfortunately, these will not be released to the public as they are a PE. This means only Carranza’s friends and family will be able to grab a pair. Either way, these are very cool and they were for a great cause.

6lack Sung Of Liberation On “Free”

For many Hip-Hop fans, Free 6lack, which was released five years ago today, was their first time hearing LVRN artist 6lack’s signature melancholic brand of R&B. Today, the artist behind the equally revered album East Atlanta Love Letteris a star in his own right, but prior to the release of his debut studio album on November 18, 2016, 6lack was struggling to overcome record label and identity issues, hence the project’s title Free 6lack.

While the album boasted huge cuts like the Future-sampling “Ex Calling” and the undeniable hit record “Prblms,” the track that best represents the backstory behind Free 6lack is “Free.” Throughout the four-and-a-half-minute song, 6lack relishes in finally regaining his freedom while lamenting on a toxic relationship that is hell-bent on making him feel trapped.

According to Genius6lack has admitted that “Free” is his favorite song from his debut. “It was the last song I made, at the end of my trip to L.A. ‘Free’ was literally everything I felt,” he explained. “I talked about every feeling I had felt in regards to my relationships, to who I was, to all the labels—everything. I wanted to get it out in that song. By the time I was done with it, the title of the track was obvious.”

To celebrate the five-year anniversary of Free 6lackthe LVRN artist is hosting a concert in Atlanta next Friday, and similar to the low-cost ticketing approach of J. Cole’s fabled A Dollar And A Dream Tours, the 6lack Friday show will be selling tickets for just $6.

Check out the hauntingly captivating music video for “Free” below and let us know in the comments which song from Free 6lack was your favorite.

I’ve been waiting for the day
You know it was coming either way
I know that you hate it
But I’m freer than I’ve ever been
Something that you’ve never been

Former NFL Player Zac Stacy Caught On Camera Violently Attacking Ex-GF

Cameras caught former NFL running back Zac Stacy violently attacking his ex-girlfriend in her home, while their infant son sat on the couch just a few feet away.

In the disturbing video, 30-year-old Stacy is seen brutalizing the mother of his child, aggressively punching her before throwing the woman into a standing television that then fell over onto her. Later in the video, Stacy continues to strike the woman while standing over her, then picks her up and slams her into their child’s bouncy seat while the 5-month-old toddler watches and cries from a nearby couch.

The violent, domestic altercation occurred on Saturday, in Stacy’s ex-girlfriend’s Florida home. This according to TMZ, who shared the footage of the unfortunate incident. They also report that Stacy became enraged and very aggressive with the ex-girlfriend initially, during an argument, which led to the former NFL running back repeatedly striking her and violently throwing her around in her home.

Zac Stacy was formerly a 5th-round draft pick of the St. Louis Rams in 2013, and also played for the New York Jets in his three-year career in the NFL.

Stacy’s ex-girlfriend, who can be heard screaming and begging for the attack to stop throughout the video, reportedly called law enforcement following the terrifying incident, however Stacy was gone by the time police showed up. It was also reported that the woman officially filed for a restraining order on Monday for both her and her son.

In the documents for the restraining order, the woman claimed Stacy arrived at her Florida home around 2 PM that Saturday with the intention of visiting his son. There, Stacy’s ex claimed the former NFL player became furious during an argument, and then violent.

On the application for the restraining order, the woman wrote, “He punched me several times in the head! I begged him to stop because the baby was on the couch just a few feet from where he punched me. He then picked me up and threw me into the TV. The TV began to fall and he turned to make sure I wasn’t getting up.”

Stacy’s ex continued, “As I laid on the floor he began to yell at me, telling me I’m destructive. He then picked me off the floor and off my feet and body slammed me into our son’s bouncy seat.”

She went on in the documents, claiming Stacy told their child “I love you” before rushing out the door, and that “I fear for my life and my children’s lives” following the abusive incident.

Stacy and his attorney have provided no comment at this time.

Warning: The video below is quite graphic and could trigger those especially sensitive to domestic violence:

Memphis rapper Young Dolph was reportedly at Makeda’s Butter Cookies in his hometown, when two gunmen rushed the establishment, and cut his life short. He was 36-years-old.

As news of Dolph’s tragic passing circulated throughout the internet, the hip hop community was devastated. Rappers and other figures in hip hop including Westside Gunn, Megan Thee Stallion and Offset (among others) expressed their disbelief in what had happened, and the pain they were feeling.

A day later, social media tributes to the late Young Dolph continue to pour in.

From fellow rap legends, to NFL hall-of-famers, to members of the media — it seems like everyone who had ever come in touch with the Gelato rapper had something good to say about him, and many of the most recent tributes have acknowledged the type of person Dolph was, and not just his success as a rapper and music executive.

“I didn’t wanna believe this one. At all. Always called and checked on me. Like clockwork. Never hesitated. Praying for his family and children. I love you @youngdolph,” Bun B captioned an Instagram post dedicate to his late friend.

Tristan Thompson Goes On Intense Rant After Kings Loss

Tristan Thompson is now a member of the Sacramento Kings which means he is essentially in NBA purgatory. Playing for the Kings can be a pretty horrific fate, even with the young core that seems to be doing quite well out on the court. They just can’t seem to get it done, and with a record of 6-9, it is unlikely that this Kings squad is even going to sniff the postseason this year.

Last night, the Kings ended up losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves, and afterward, Thompson was asked about the team’s motivations. Reporters wanted to know if head coach Luke Walton could do a better job of getting his team amped up to play, which led to quite the rant from Thompson who offered up some profanity in the process.

“It’s not about Coach Walton inspiring you,” Thompson said. “I don’t need no f–king coach to inspire me – never have, never will. The day I need a coach to inspire me is the day I’m f–king retiring. I speak with my teammates with that quote. We don’t need a coach to inspire us. […] “This is the NBA. No one’s going to feel sorry for you. C-Webb and Bibby ain’t coming through that door, so you’ve got to keep pushing each and every day. Keep getting better in practice, keep watching the film, learn from your mistakes.”

Moving forward, the Kings still have a lot to learn, and with trade rumors surrounding some of their young stars, it remains to be seen whether or not the Kings rebuild will have been all for nothing.

An R. Kelly Associate Was Sentenced To 8 Years In Prison For Arson And Witness Intimidation

According to Billboard, Michael Williams of Valdosta, Georgia, was sentenced yesterday to eight years in prison for burning a car to intimidate a witness in R. Kelly’s then-upcoming trial for sex trafficking. Wiliams, who prosecutors said was related to Kelly’s former publicist, apparently went to Florida in 2020 and set fire to the car outside of the home where a witness was staying.

The vehicle apparently belonged to the woman’s father. According to reports, Williams left a note on the SUV that read, “It might be wise for you to protect your daughter from heartache she’s gonna endure through this and after. She had to live with every stain you guys create publicly.” Williams’ search history was also used as evidence, showing that he’d looked up how to make explosives, as well as witness intimidation and witness tampering laws, and countries that do not have extradition agreements with the United States.

Williams wasn’t the only one who was found guilty of witness intimidation. In February, Richard Arline Jr., a longtime friend of Kelly’s, pled guilty to charges of bribery after offering one of the women accusing Kelly $500,000 in exchange for her ceasing cooperation with the authorities.

Incidentally, all those efforts eventually went to waste; In September, R. Kelly was found guilty of sex trafficking and racketeering in federal court in Brooklyn, with his sentence to be determined at a future date. He still faces trial in Chicago on similar charges.
