Chloe’s Performance Of ‘Have Mercy’ At The AMAs Doubled Down On Her Star Power

We named Chloe as one of our rising pop stars to watch for 2022, but honestly, she’s already broken out in a big way as part of the duo with her sister, Chloe x Halle. In recent months, it’s been clear that despite the success of their sophomore album, Ungodly Hour, released in 2020, the two are both growing into solo careers as well. Halle was tapped to play Ariel in the new version of The Little Mermaid and Chloe was getting so much attention from simple social media posts, that she decided to release a debut single and video to go along with it.

So “Have Mercy” was born, and the single has been slowly but steadily racking up a dedicated fan base ever since. The song has already been covered by a HBCU marching band (or two), and Chloe raised eyebrows with an exuberant performance of the song at the VMAs. Tonight, she brought it back out for a performance at the AMAs, and as always, it didn’t disappoint. After descending down to the stage in a swing, the singer debuted her red-tinted hair for another dance-centric performance of her debut solo song. The audience was more than responsive to her high-energy performance, check it out above.

Bad Bunny, Julieta Venegas, And Tainy’s AMAS Performance Of ‘Lo Siento BB:/’ Gave A Glimpse Of The Future

The American Music Awards featured a truly innovative performance when Bad Bunny, Julieta Venegas, and Tainy hit the stage to perform “Lo Siento BB:/” with a futuristic aesthetic that saw Julieta dressed as a robot with a television head (a la the Saga comic series) and Bad Bunny suited up as a cyclops robot that may remind viewers of HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey or GLaDOS from the Portal games.

Bad Bunny has been everywhere in 2021, performing his hits “La Noche De Anoche” and “Te Deseo Lo Mejor” on Saturday Night Live, on which he also appeared in a goofy musical sketch in which he became a talking plant and sang about last year’s lockdowns; he performed “Dákiti” at the 2021 Grammy Awards; and he even got to live out a childhood dream, settling a Twitter feud with WWE wrestler The Miz at this year’s Wrestlemania, where he won decisively by pinning his foe.

He followed up that triumph by reprising “Te Deseo Lo Mejor” at the Billboard Music Awards, then set about launching his next new music campaign with “Yonaguni” and “De Museo” after announcing the tour dates for his 2022 circuit, El Último Tour Del Mundo — which took less than a week to become Ticketmaster’s fastest-selling tour in history. Unfortunately, his most recent planned performance at day two of Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival was scrapped in light of the disastrous incident that took place on the first night of the event, but with tonight’s performance, he bounced back nicely and, considering his deft handling of his last handful of performances, we can likely expect plenty of intriguing new moves from the Puerto Rican superstar soon.

Tyler The Creator Bundles Up In A Chilly AMAs Performance Of ‘Massa’

For his American Music Awards performance, Tyler The Creator popped out from backstage with a puffer jacket and his customary ushanka, rapping “Massa” in front of a house set in a snowy tableau. For some reason, he was wearing shorts. Unlike some of his previous performances, this one was relatively muted, as he stayed pretty much stationary in front of the door before stepping out into the snow, adding more and more passion to his performance while snow fell from the sky. And when the performance was done, he hopped on the back of a Vespa and cruised off the stage, as coolly as he entered.

Tyler The Creator’s big year kicked off in June with the release of the initial teasers for his new album, Call Me If You Get Lost. After putting up billboards promoting a phone number with a special, constantly-changing message from Tyler (which turned out to be the album’s interludes), he shared the first video, for “Lumberjack,” two weeks later.

He quickly followed up with a flurry of new videos and comedic sketches, including videos for “Wusyaname,” “Juggernaut,” and “Corso,” while his performance at the 2021 BET Awards solidified the hype for the album. Upon its release, it was critically acclaimed — you can read Uproxx’s own review here — and became his second album to debut at no. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Tyler also expanded his directorial portfolio with a music video for Maxo Kream, “Big Persona” (on which he also rapped), and a hilarious commercial for Converse that brought together NBA legend Bill Walton with gangsta-rap futurist Vince Staples. He certainly earned his slot on the AMAs’ appearance setlist, and his performance more than justified the show’s faith in him.

LeBron James Ejected After Bloodying Isaiah Stewart & Getting In Heated Confrontation

LeBron James was ejected from the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Detroit Pistons, Sunday night, after a bloody showdown with Isaiah Stewart. After going for a contested rebound, James elbowed Stewart in the face, which prompted the Pistons’ big man to confront the former MVP.

After being held back on several occasions, Stewart continued to break free and charge back at James who was shielded by teammates and officials.

In the wake of the chaos, James was hit with a flagrant 2 foul, Stewart was given two technical fouls, and Lakers guard Russell Westbrook was called for a technical foul.

“Everyone in the league knows LeBron isn’t a dirty guy,” Lakers star Anthony Davis said after the game. “As soon as he did it, he looked back and told him, ‘My bad. I didn’t try to do it.’ I don’t know what he tried to do. Nobody on our team, 1-15, was having it”

James did not speak with the press.

Despite trailing 79-67 when the incident took place, the Lakers went on to win 121-116 to bring their record to 9-9.

This is just the second time James has been ejected from a game in his storied 19-year career.

Dr. Dre’s Assets Revealed Amidst Ongoing Divorce Battle With Nicole Young

Dr. Dre’s assets have been revealed amidst his ongoing divorce battle with Nicole Young. As the two are still looking to reach a financial agreement, new court documents reveal the extent of Dre’s wealth.

The rap mogul currently holds over $180 million in cash and in his checking/savings accounts, $260 million in property, and $6 million in stock, according to VladTV. During the last year, Dre sold a massive chunk of Apple stock during the divorce to lock down $73 million.

In addition to receiving $300,000 a month in temporary spousal support, Young has requested that Dre pay out $4 million to cover her legal fees. She also says that the legendary producer still owes her $1.2 million for a previous court order that he has yet to finish paying.

Radar Online recently obtained court documents that claim that Dre has only paid $300,000 of the aforementioned court order.

“Andre is doing whatever he wants to do because he is an enormously entitled and well-funded litigant who seeks to exact revenge on his former wife by decimating her financially leaving her without legal representation in this case,” Young’s team writes in their documents presented to the court.

Young filed for divorce from Dre in June 2020. The couple married in 1996 and share two children.

Silk Sonic Opens The 2021 AMAs With A Luscious Performance Of ‘Smokin’ Out The Window’

Nine months after Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak — aka Silk Sonic — made the world instant fans with their debut single “Leave The Door Open,” SIlk Sonic delivered their debut album An Evening With Sonic earlier this month and boy did they deliver. The project came attached with nine songs and contributions from Thundercat, Bootsy Collins, James Fauntleroy, and D’Mile. In addition to “Leave The Door Open,” An Evening With Sonic was also led by “Skate” and new fan-favorite “Smokin’ Out The Window.” A little over a week after that album arrived, Silk Sonic brought their talents together to open the 2021 American Music Awards.

The duo kicked off the award show night with the performance of “Smokin’ Out The Window.” As expected, Bruno and .Paak were dressed to the nines for the performance as they passionately sang about a former lover who did them wrong. Their performance also looked very similar to the music video that was released with the track.

The performance arrives after Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak announced that they’d be hosting their own limited-edition Silk Sonic radio series on Apple Music. “Over the course of four one-hour episodes, the pair feature Silk Sonic-inspired sets of all of their favorite records, ranging from old-school hits to R&B jams, hip-hop, funk, disco, and everything in between,” a press release said about the show. “From surprise guests to even more surprising conversation, it’s your turn to be a fly on the wall and spend some time with the kings of smooth.”

Cardi B Says She Loves BTS And Reveals She Almost Collaborated With Them

While we haven’t received a new album from Cardi B since her 2018 debut Invasion Of Privacy, she has been kind to us in the feature department. Her recent collaborations include “Rumors” with Lizzo, “WAP” with Megan Thee Stallion, “Type Sh*t” with Migos, and “Me Gusta” with Anitta. These are just some of the records that have fans excited for what Cardi has in store for the future, but according to the rapper herself, she was supposed to work with BTS. However, her busy schedule made it difficult to bring to fruition.

“Maybe,” Cardi replied when she was asked if a BTS collaboration would arrive in the future during a recent Variety. “I was supposed to be on a record with them, but I had just released a record and then it was going to smash with the time. But I love them.” It came after she revealed another member of her family who’s a fan of BTS. “I like BTS a lot, but let me tell you something,” she said. “My daughter [Kulture] likes BTS a lot a lot. Like, ‘Mommy, mommy, put [on] the song.’ And it’s like, I already know what she’s talking about.”

Cardi is also gearing up to host the 2021 American Music Awards, and in the interview with Variety, she revealed what viewers can expect from her on Sunday night. “I’m just going to be myself. That’s it,” she said. “There are going to be certain things that I read on the teleprompter, but I’m just going to freestyle it because I don’t like feeling like I’m talking like a robot.”

Casanova Pleads Not Guilty In Ongoing Attempted Murder Case

Casanova has pleaded not guilty in his ongoing attempted murder case.

The case stems from an altercation Casanova and Jarrett “Jayecee” Crisler had with a member of the Crips outside of King of Diamonds on October 24th, 2020. The Crip had taken offense to gang signs being used by Cas and Crisler. After the situation escalated, Crisler allegedly pulled his gun and shot the gang member and his associate.

AllHipHop reports that Crisler is in the process of working out a plea deal with prosecutors.

In a recent statement on Instagram, Casanova pleaded with his followers to believe that he is innocent.

He wrote: “I’m the same individual that went to city hall and housing projects with @ericadamsfornyc to speak to children and explain to them how shootings and gun violence isn’t the way of life. I’ve visited shelters to feed the people in need all around the world including Africa, donated to back to school drives and not one of my good deeds are mentioned or acknowledged. I’m calling on all the great people with meaningful and powerful voices to help me with this matter. Any help provided will be a blessing, because I feel defeated one’s past shouldn’t be the reason why you can’t be afforded a successful future.”
