Lou From Paradise Brings Out Method Man On “Live From The Slumz”

Lou From Paradise isn’t leaving 2021 without delivering even more heat to follow-up his collaborative project with Statik Selektah, Not Dead yet! The rapper came through with the single, “Crash Dummy” in late August, and now, he’s unloading a brand new banger alongside Staten Island’s finest.

Lou From Paradise locks in with Method Man for his latest record, “Live From The Slumz.” The two rappers tackle ominous productions with slick wordplay and sharp flows, delivering braggadocio to each bar they utter.

Method Man’s latest contribution comes days after his appearance on Saturday Night Live where he assisted fellow Staten Island native, Pete Davidson, for their own rendition of “Walking In Memphis,” titled, “Walking In Staten.”

Quotable Lyrics
The cat done got your tongue, trick
Wanna flap your gums? I ain’t the one to flap your gums with
Get jumped for trying to jump ship
Drag you ’til you drug sick
This chick, I call her Candy, love that fun stick
But that powdered candy ain’t for fun dip

JJ Redick Had Stephen A. Smith Flustered During LeBron Discussion

Earlier today, we wrote about Stephen A. Smith and a recent hot take he had on First Take today, involving LeBron James. Following his suspension for elbowing Isaiah Stewart in the face, Smith spoke about how no one in the NBA actually fears LeBron James, like they would have feared someone like Michael Jordan or even Kobe Bryant. In the clip below, you can see exactly what Smith had to say on the matter.

“In my estimation, from the people that I’ve spoken to covering the league, [LeBron] has never been feared,” Smith said. “With LeBron, you believe you can take him. You believe he can be had.”

Smith was sitting across from former NBA star JJ Redick when he said this, and the take was immediately met with some skepticism as Redick straight up told Smith that he doesn’t feel like the First Take host is being authentic with his opinion. Redick thinks Smith is extremely off base here and that as a former NBA player, he can attest that LeBron is, indeed, someone to be feared. Smith tried to argue although he seemed quite flustered by the whole interaction as Redick continued to note that he’s actually played the game, unlike Stephen A.

“I dont know if you actually believe what you are saying […] I played the game, Im telling you that you are wrong,” Redick said.

Redick then pushed matters further when he noted that Michael Jordan’s trip to Atlantic City in ’93 would have taken up a whole hour on First Take had the show been around back then. Smith tried to claim that this is simply not the case, although if you’re aware of how the media works, you know that Redick is right on the money here.

Let us know what you thought of the entire exchange, in the comments below.

Kevin Durant Claps Back At Ashy Memes

Kevin Durant is one of, if not, the greatest basketball player in the world right now. Currently averaging almost 29 points per game, KD is one of the frontrunners for NBA Most Valuable Player in the young season so far.

As good as he is at his craft though, KD is also on of the funniest Twitter users of all famous athletes, and occasionally is very candid with fans in arguments or discussions. As most Twitter users would know though, the entertainment that comes from Twitter can be a double-edged sword.

Yesterday, after Durant recorded 27 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds against Cleveland last night, current NBA free agent and former star Isaiah Thomas noticed something unusual in a picture of KD from the game. Thomas pointed out the ashiness of KD’s leg under his leg sleeve and poked fun at him: “No way KD can be that Ashy!!!!!!!! No way lol. OMG.”

This started a surge of memes aimed at KD about his lack of lotion use and extremely dry skin. Kevin caught wind of this pretty quickly, and lashed back with a tweet of his own: “I’m bouta pull my “y’all broke” card in a second. F**k y’all”

This led to even more memes under his tweet, as Twitter would not let KD live it down.

Hopefully KD can get his hands on some lotion soon and put this debacle behind him.

Check out Durant’s tweet below.

Yung Mal Drops Off New Single “Like Belly”

Back in July, Atlanta rapper Yung Mal was arrested and charged with murder after a man in his mid-40s was killed in a deadly gas station shootout.

In the weeks following his arrest, Mal dropped two new singles, “Get Right” and “One Night,” and went of a bit of a hiatus from mid-September until now, but now, the 26-year-old is back with another brand-new track, “Like Belly.”

Rapping over heavy trap production with haunting vocals sampled throughout the record, Yung Mal tells the story of how he made it from the mud to charging $10K a feature. Accompanied by a visualizer displaying his lavish lifestyle, “Like Belly” is a culmination of Mal’s hard work and a testament to his rise to success.

Quotable Lyrics
Just like a rasta keep rolling that reefer
He was talking too much he got killed while we eating
Don’t got money why the f*ck is you speaking?

Troy Ave Drops Off “The Weatherman”

With the holidays just around the corner, it seems like a better time than any for Troy Ave to kick off the campaign for another installment in the White Christmas series. Though it isn’t entirely centered around Christmas, his fans always look forward to closing out the year with a new project from the BK rapper. However, it seems like he could very well be skipping out on the annual tradition but don’t trip, because he has a new project on the way.

The rapper recently unveiled his new single, “The Weatherman” off of his forthcoming project, GOD is Great Paper Straight. The rapper’s latest single dives into the melodic side, detailing the winter season as it relates to the amount of jewelry he’s rocking.

GOD is Great Paper Straight was pushed back to Nov. 25th out of respect for Young Dolph.

Peep the song below.

Quotable Lyrics
My life’s out of order but my paper straight
I’m crooked but my God is great
Won’t you let me take you on a date?

Ja Morant Posts Hilarious Photo With NBA Ref Who Looks Like Gucci Mane

Since winning NBA Rookie of the Year in 2020, Memphis Grizzlies’ point guard has done nothing but get better. In his second season in the league, Morant led the Grizzlies to the playoffs and this season, he is averaging 25.5 points per game, 7 assists per game and nearly 6 rebounds per game on 48/36/78 shooting splits, according to Basketball Reference.

Morant transformed Memphis into a team that fans are excited to watch night in and night out, and is slowly cementing his spot as one of the NBA’s biggest stars.

However, that doesn’t stop Morant from still having fun on the job.

Following a nailbiting 119-118 victory over the Utah Jazz, Morant hopped on Twitter and introduced the world to James Williams, a 12-year NBA referee.

After the NBA Latam Twitter account tweeted a photo of Morant smiling during his matchup with the Jazz, he noted that Williams, photographed alongside him, looks a little like Gucci Mane.

“Me & gucci,” Morant wrote, including a laughing-crying emoji.

A few fans agreed with Morant’s assessment that Williams is a Gucci doppleganger. Responding to Morant with Druski memes and photos of Waka Flocka Flame and Gucci Mane back in the day, it was clear that the rest of the world sees the resemblance.

Williams has yet to comment on the matter, but it’s a compliment to be compared to East Atlanta Santa and one would hope that the veteran referee took it as such.

What do you think of Ja Morant’s hilarious post point out that an NBA ref looks like Gucci Mane? Let us know down in the comments.

Nominees For A Curiously Missing 2021 Grammy Category Were Finally Announced Today

Last year’s Grammy Awards were miraculous to say the least. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, that even an awards ceremony — albeit a socially-distanced one — was able to go down, was a testament to the Recording Academy taking every possible measure to ensure that Beyoncé could surprise Megan Thee Stallion on stage as the pair claimed their Best Rap Song award for “Savage.”

But a lot goes into the awards process, including a number of committees meeting ahead of time to parse out the awards nominees for each of the then 84 categories, and now 86 overall. But given the unpredictability of the pandemic, one of these committees couldn’t meet and the 2021 nominees for Best Immersive Audio Album were not announced. So the award was pushed out to 2022. Here’s how a statement from the Grammy’s read last year explaining what happened:

“Due the COVID-19 pandemic, the Best Immersive Audio Album Craft Committee was unable to meet. The judging of the entries in this category has been postponed until such time that we are able to meet in a way that is appropriate to judge the many formats and configurations of the entries and is safe for the committee members. The nominations for the 63rd GRAMMYs will be announced next year in addition to (and separately from) the 64th GRAMMY nominations in the category.”

So that later date turned out to be today, along with the nominees for the 64th annual Grammy Awards as well. The Best Immersive Audio Album nominees for the 63rd annual awards can be seen, along with the full list of all nominees, here.

‘WandaVision’s ‘Agatha All Along’ Is The First TV Show Song In Years To Get A Grammy Nod In Its Category

Tuesday marked a big day in music as the Recording Academy shared its full list of nominations for the 2022 Grammys. The announcement saw some historic wins, like how Tony Bennett’s Lady Gaga collaboration Love For Sale made him the oldest-ever nominee for Album Of The Year, or how ABBA received what is somehow their first-ever nomination. But Marvel Cinematic Universe fans can also rejoice because a song from their WandaVision series also received a Grammy nod, and it was the the first time in nearly a decade that a song from a TV show was recognized in the category.

Episode 7 of the 2021 series WandaVision features the catchy jingle “Agatha All Along,” written by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (aka the duo behind Frozen‘s “Let It Go”). The song is sung by Agatha Harkness actress Kathryn Hahn, and while the song is just over a minute long, it took the internet by storm upon its release. So it’s only fitting that the Recording Academy nominated “Agatha All Along” for a Grammy in the Best Visual Media category. It marks the first time a TV show has been in the category in eight years, seeing as most of the nominations come from movies. The last TV show to appear in the category was Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black, which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Visual Media for their 2014 song “You’ve Got Time” by Regina Spektor.

Hahn was surprised at the popularity of “Agatha All Along” when it first came out. Hahn told Seth Meyers in an interview that she wasn’t aware of it’s viral success until her team informed her. “I don’t have social media, so the whole thing was like filtered down through all this,” Hahn said. “I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?!’ It’s so funny. Meanwhile, I’m outside scooping dog crap, scooping cat crap. The whole thing is so bonkers right now.”

The Music World Reacts To The 2022 Grammys Nominations

Today, the music world is focused on the list of nominees for The 64th Annual Grammy Awards, which was unveiled this morning. There’s a lot going on with this year’s list: Jon Batiste leads the pack with 11 total nominations, which is actually tied for the second-most in a single year ever. Tony Bennett became the oldest artist ever nominated for Album Of The Year. Barack Obama and Dave Chappelle are competing in the same category.

Across all categories, a lot of folks got nominated, and naturally, a lot of them have taken to social media to share their reactions to the news.

Batiste was pretty thrilled with his feat, writing, “WOW!! Thank you God!! I love EVERYBODY! I’m so grateful to my collaborators and to my ancestors [crying emojis] 11!”

Lil Nas X took a break from joking on Twitter to tweet, “don’t have to win a single award, truly thankful for all the insight this year has brought me. and thankful for the journey. love u guys.”

Japanese Breakfast, who was nominated for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Music Album, was floored, as she wrote simply, “WTF!!!!!!!!!”

Saweetie was also moved, as she tweeted, “I’m speechless I wish I had the words to express how I feel but I’m just so grateful!!! Being acknowledged for all the hard work me & my team have been doing feels AMAZINNNNNG thank you #TeamIcy for stickin with me through thick and thin y’all some real ride or dies IKDR!!”
