Drake And Ye’s Larry Hoover Benefit Concert Reportedly Left Federal Officials ‘Surprised’ And Upset

After a few weeks of promotion, Drake and Ye took over the Los Angeles Coliseum for their benefit concert for Larry Hoover, and it was quite the spectacle. Ye took the stage a performed a number of hits from his 15-year catalog, including “Jesus Walks,” “All Falls Down,” “Good Life,” “All Of The Lights.” Drake appeared later on and mostly stuck to songs from Certified Lover Boy like “Knife Talk,” “Way 2 Sexy,” and “Girls Wants Girls.” All in all, it was a great show that left viewers extremely satisfied, but according to TMZ, federal officials are shocked by it all.

The report says officials are “surprised” that Drake and Ye held the concert at all. Hoover, a Chicago native and founder of the Gangster Disciples gang, is currently serving a state-sanctioned sentence of 150-200 years for a 1973 murder and six life sentences for running a criminal organization from prison. Federal officials can’t seem to understand why Drake and Ye would want to support a man who they called “the worst of the worst.”

While the odds of the concert leading to Hoover’s freedom are minimal, it did help to end Drake and Ye’s longtime beef. The rappers reconciled weeks before the show thanks to some help from J Prince, and it was good to see them showing each other some brotherly love onstage.

Juice WRLD Looks At The World Around Him On “Doom”

This week marked two years since the tragic passing of Juice WRLD, a budding star who was taken too soon. The rapper was on pace to become a superstar in his own right if he wasn’t already by the time of his death. He released Goodbye & Good Riddance, a pivotal album in shaping the sound of Emo Rap as we know it, and dropped his project, Death Race For Love the year after.

Though the rapper is no longer here with us, there appears to be a large bank of unreleased music that his team is currently in possession of. This week, his second posthumous album, Fighting Demons dropped in its entirety. Over the 18 songs that appear on the project, fans have been gushing over “Doom.” Juice WRLD’s vulnerable songwriting takes center stage on this one over with Take A Daytrip handling the production.

Stefflon Don & BEAM Get One In On “Beg Mi Ah Link”

It’s been several years since Stefflon Don dropped off a new body of work but her recent efforts signal a new project on the horizon. The UK artist recently graced the stage at the MOBO Awards where she was joined alongside Ms Banks for their new collaboration, “Dip.” However, she’s back with another effort alongside BEAM. The two connect on “Beg Mi Ah Link” which received its debut on the MOBO stage. Stefflon’s ability to weave through dancehall and hip-hop makes BEAM an excellent fit for the record as they dive deeper into the Caribbean sounds to heat up the winter.

BEAM came through with his latest project, CRIMSON soundtrack last year and also appeared on Pop Smoke’s second posthumous album, Faith on the song, “Top Shotta.”

Abra Cadabra Rips Through The Enemies On “Lean Wit It”

From road rap to drill, Abra Cadabra’s come up in the UK hip-hop scene was a slow-burning journey to success. In the past two years, he’s made up for the time lost during his brief absence in the game, culminating in the release of his debut album, Product Of My Environment in 2020. Still, he hasn’t released his foot from the pedal, and he continues to deliver some serious heat.

This week, the rapper returned with his latest banger, “Lean Wit It.” No, he’s not paying homage to Dem Franchize Boyz. There’s a level of eloquence with violins driving the exhilarating drill production while he details the volatility of street politics with his gritty flow. It’s an excellent balance that shows growth in Abra Cadabra’s sound without compromising his M.O.

Dro Kenji Shares “FINDERS KEEPERS” Featuring Scorey & Internet Money

This week’s New Music Friday was jam packed with new releases, including “FINDERS KEEPERS” by Dro Kenji featuring Scorey and Internet Money.

The song comes in at just over 2 minutes long, and sees the recording artists take turns getting their verses off over moody but booming production. “I’ma keep on countin’ all this money ’til my fingers hurt / Then I get a money counter, this shit got a endless limit,” Kenji flexes when he takes to the microphone.

For the chorus, Scorey sings about having have taken drugs until his heart stopped, then later hitting up his plug once again. “She just tryna lick me ’cause my ice like it’s Rita’s / She know that she want me ’cause it’s finders keepers,” his voice says multiple times throughout the track.

Kenji has had a lot to say sonically this year, sharing EAT YOUR HEART OUT, an 11-track project featuring Guelph Reign and $NOT in February and F*CK YOUR FEELINGS, a featureless, 16-track release in June.

Stream “FINDERS KEEPERS” below and let us know what you think in the comments.

Rick Ross, NBA Youngboy & Juice WRLD Line Up This Week’s “Fire Emoji” Playlist

The end of the year is slowly approaching and it appears that many of the major figures in rap aren’t willing to leave the year behind without sharing new music. Friday was an eventful day with new music from Rick Ross, Juice WRLD, and NBA Youngboy & Birdman’s long-awaited joint project, From The Bayou, along with so much more. As usual, we highlight the best of New Music Friday on our weekly Fire Emoji playlist update. Here’s your breakdown.

After announcing a new project a year and a half ago, Rick Ross finally shared his latest body of work, Richer Than I Ever Been. The 12-song album has plenty of highlights, which are included on this week’s playlist. The project’s title track, “The Pulitzer,” and “Wiggle” ft. DreamDoll all claim spots on this week’s playlist.

Along with Rozay, we also have a few new cuts off of Youungboy Never Broke Again and Birdman’s new project. “Heart & Soul” and “How Ya Kno” were immediate highlights off of the project, so it was only right we included those on the playlist, as well.

We also have “Burn” from Juice WRLD’s Fighting Demons, Hotboii’s “I Really” ft Moneybagg Yo, and 42 Dugg, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s “A Man In The Mirror” off of B4 AVA.

CNN Producer Charged With Luring & Sexually Abusing 9-Year-Old Girl & Her Mother To His Vermont Ski Home

A Connecticut man named John Griffin has been arrested by the FBI after being charged by a federal grand jury in Vermont. The 44-year-old was reportedly charged with “three counts of using a facility of interstate commerce to attempt to entice minors to engage in unlawful sexual activity.”

The indictment for his arrest reveals that Griffin, who was employed as a producer at CNN, spent the months of April to July of 2020 using apps like Kik and Google Hangouts to get in touch with people who appeared to be parents of underage daughters.

His plan was to ingrain his belief that “a woman is a woman regardless of her age, and that women should be “sexually subservient and inferior to men” into the parents of these girls, who he hoped would allow him to “train” their daughters into sexual submission.

Daily Voice reports that, in June of last year, Griffin “advised a mother of 9 and 13-year-old daughters that the mother’s responsibility was to see that her older daughter was ‘trained properly’.” The article also notes that the CNN producer sent the woman $3,000 for plane tickets so she and her youngest daughter could fly from Nevada to Boston’s Logan airport.

The woman and her child flew to Boston in July of 2020 and were picked up by the 44-year-old, who drove them to his Ludlow, Vermont house where the 9-year-old was directed to engage in unlawful sexual activity, which she followed through with.

The Connecticut resident allegedly attempted to entice two other children online. In April, he reportedly “proposed to engage in a ‘virtual training session’ over a video chat that would include him instructing a mother and her 14-year-old daughter to remove their clothing and touch each other at his direction.”

Griffin faces a mandatory sentence of minimum 10 years, with a maximum life sentence, and it’s also been noted that “the federal government intends to seek the forfeiture of Griffin’s Ludlow house, his Tesla, a Mercedes, and other property that was used in the commission of the charged offences.”
