Kyrie Irving Teases His Comeback With New Video

Kyrie Irving hasn’t played any basketball this season due to his vaccination status. While he could suit up for away games, the Nets have decided to not allow that as they don’t want Kyrie to be a part-time player. Despite this, there are now rumblings that the Nets could go back on their word as a report came out stating that the team is optimistic that he will end up playing this season.

Kyrie has not stated whether or not he has changed his mind on the vaccine, however, it seems as though he has done a lot of talking with his teammates, and even the Nets coaching staff. With this in mind, Nets fans are excited that Kyrie could be back on the floor in 2022, just in time for the postseason.

Today, Kyrie fed into the rumors that he could be returning soon, as he posted a video of himself putting on some basketball shoes. Of course, this simply means he could just be going to practice, however, the timing is certainly beyond a coincidence at this point. Irving knows exactly what he is doing here, and if you’re a Nets fan, you’ve got to be getting your hopes up right now.

Of course, there is no guarantee that Kyrie will return this season, however, this stands as a very good indication that things are about to get resolved, sooner rather than later. After all, Kyrie is one of the best point guards in the league, and the Nets are better off with him on the floor.

Gabby Petito True Crime Documentary Will Premiere On Peacock This Weekend

When Gabby Petito went missing earlier this year, her story took the internet by storm, causing tens of thousands of people to do their part to aid in the search for the 22-year-old. She was ultimately, and tragically, found dead in Wyoming’s Bridget-Teton National Forest back in September, and just weeks later, her fiancé – and the main person of interest in her death – Brian Laundrie, was also discovered deceased.

long-winded manhunt for Laundrie took place following Petito’s disappearance. The man returned to his Florida family home in his partner’s van, but without her, and days after, he himself vanished as well. His parents were reportedly aware that he left their house with a weapon, which was allegedly later used to commit suicide in the Carlton Reserve.

Seeing as the story generated an astounding amount of social media and news coverage, it’s been quickly turned around into a documentary for Peacock called The Murder of Gabby Petito: Truth, Lies and Social Media. The trailer for the new true crime release arrived earlier today, ahead of its premiere this Friday, December 17th.

“It was like every parents’ nightmare, Jim Schmidt recalls of his step-daughter’s disappearance in the clip. “Just like, in a flash of second. She’s gone, she’s missing.” The film is said to “shed new light on the tragic story, the unanswered questions, and the shocking conclusion.”

Exclusive interviews from those closest to the late 22-year-old will be included, as well as journalists who covered the story from the very beginning, and social media content creators who posted about Petito’s story and got heavily involved with the case.

Check out the trailer for Gabby Petito’s true crime documentary on Peacock below. Do you plan to stream it this coming weekend?

A Kanye West Biopic Was One Of The Most Popular Unmade Screenplays In 2021

A biopic about Kanye West titled The College Dropout was reportedly one of the most popular unproduced screenplays in Hollywood in 2021, according to a new survey from the Black List. Other popular potential films included movies about Dennis Rodman, Martin Shkreli, and more.

The Black List, which polls over 375 people in the industry every year to find the “most-liked unproduced screenplays,” describes The College Dropout as “A young Kanye West’s intimate journey to create his seminal first album that reinvented hip-hop music.”

The biopic was written by Thomas Aguilar and Michael Ballin, and is backed by Columbia Pictures.

The aforementioned film about NBA legend Dennis Rodman is titled 48 Hours in Vegas and details his infamous trip to Las Vegas during the NBA Finals.

“Before Game 7 of the NBA finals, Dennis Rodman tells Phil Jackson he needs 48 hours in Vegas,” the synopsis reads. “What follows is a surreal adventure with his skittish assistant GM that involves a bull rodeo, parachuting out of a Ferrari and building a friendship that neither one of them ever thought was possible but will end up solving both of their problems.”

DaniLeigh Shades DaBaby In Baby Picture Caption

DaniLeigh appears to be healing from her tumultuous year, which included the birth of her first daughter and the drama that ensued following her arrival. In case you haven’t been keeping up, rapper DaBaby, the father of Dani’s child, kicked the singer out of his home a few weeks ago and filmed the incident on Instagram Live. In the days since that situation escalated, Dani has been sharing adorable pictures of her little girl and in the latest photo she shared to Instagram, she posted a shady caption toward her rapper baby daddy, calling him out oh-so-subtly.

“Today,” she wrote with a white heart emoji, sharing photos of her cute baby girl at a doctor’s appointment. “Doing it all alone but it’s all good cause I love your love baby girl.”

Multiple blog sites saw the post before the MOVIE singer changed her caption, removing the shade and simply saying, “Today [white heart emoji] I love your love baby girl.”

Surprisingly enough, people don’t seem to be happy with Dani’s subtle message to DaBaby and the world about being a single mother, with some of the top comments on The Neighborhood Talk’s post about this accusing her of looking for attention. Some people are also saying that DaBaby didn’t need to be present for a routine doctor’s appointment but if he wanted to be involved in his child’s life and take accountability after getting Dani pregnant, he would have been there.

What do you think about the ongoing saga? Check out the old post, as well as the corrected one, below.

Bobby Shmurda Is Working On An Autobiography

Along with being released from his seven year prison stay and making his long-awaited return to music in 2021, Bobby Shmurda has also revealed a lot about his life this year.

Most recently, Bobby told the story of how his smash hit “Hot N***a” came together, and he has also shared insight on his label dramahis need for sex therapy and even just cute throwback photos of him as a child earlier this year. With all these looks into his life, perhaps Bobby feels the need to share his story at an even larger scale.

Last night (Dec. 13), Bobby tweeted that he began working on his autobiography, and is already excited about how it is coming together: “I Just Started Writing My Autobiography & My First Page More Lit Than Yo Daddy’s Daddy Whole Life #Shmurda #DontPlayWithThatBoy”

It is not clear what angle or story the autobiography will aim to tell, but it presumably would touch on Bobby’s upbringing in New York, his rise to acclaim with hits like “Hot N***a” and “Bobby B*tch,” his subsequent arrest and imprisonment and his release and current endeavors.

Most recently celebrity autobiographies from Will SmithRihanna and Raekwon have caught the eye of fans this year. But, there is currently no title or release date for Bobby’s since it is not close to being finished yet.

Do you think you’ll read Bobby Shmurda’s autobiography when it comes out?

Top 10 Biggest Sports Stories Of 2021

In any given year, there will always be a ton of stories that take over the mainstream conversation, whether it be in politics, entertainment, or even sports. Thanks to events like the Super Bowl and the Olympics, there are always a plethora of sports stories to pull from on a yearly basis. These stories can involve players, teams, scandals, or any sort of event that one might deem as newsworthy. 2021 has been no exception.

This year has provided us with some truly fascinating stories that speak to the essence of sports. From personal achievements to massive sporting events, and unfortunately, to tragedies, 2021 has been a busy year in the sports world. That’s why we have constructed this list, to provide you with some of the biggest headlines of the last year, just in case you may have missed some of them.

Naomi Osaka Vs. The Media

Naomi Osaka

During this year’s French Open, Naomi Osaka decided to take a stand against the media, with who she had a relatively contentious relationship, up until that point. Her decision to not speak with the media was not received well at all, and it led to a huge fallout that caused her to withdraw from the tournament. Eventually, she withdrew from Wimbledon for mental health reasons, and from there, she became a huge advocate for athletes around the world. While the media still takes its shots at her from time to time, there is no doubt that Osaka has opened up a larger discussion about how athletes are treated by reporters, especially in vulnerable moments.

Henry Ruggs III Car Accident

Perhaps one of the more devastating and somber stories of the year came from Henry Ruggs III of the Las Vegas Raiders. The NFL star killed a 23-year-old woman and her dog in a drunk driving incident that saw Ruggs speeding at around 156 MPH. It was a story that shocked many in the football world, and it remains yet another example of how drunk driving can kill innocent people. With all of the charges laid out against Ruggs, he is looking at upwards of 50 years in jail, and at this point, it is safe to say that his football career is over.

Bubba Wallace Wins First NASCAR Cup Series Race

Bubba Wallace’s NASCAR journey has been an interesting one, especially given his status as the only black driver in the Cup Series, which is the highest level of the sport. Last year, Wallace was embroiled in a controversy at Talladega, his home track, after a noose was found in his garage. It was eventually revealed to be a garage pull, and the blowback from the incident had some fans feeling polarized. Now, with Michael Jordan’s funding behind him, Wallace was able to have the best season of his career, and he even won his first career race, at Talladega of all places. It was the first time in nearly 60 years that a black driver had won a race, and it was a huge achievement for the NASCAR star.

The Tokyo Olympics

The Summer Games in Tokyo were supposed to take place in 2020. Unfortunately, COVID-19 had other plans, forcing the games to take place this past Summer. Despite all of the warnings that the games should not take place, they actually went off without a hitch. Every single sporting event went on as planned, and while the crowd may have not been present, that didn’t take away from all of the great moments we saw. From Simone Biles to the United States Men’s National Basketball Team, there were plenty of reasons to be excited about the Olympics this year.

LeBron James Releases Space Jam: A New Legacy

LeBron James is one of if not the biggest athlete in the world. Everything he does is going to get attention from the mainstream media, and that was certainly the case with Space Jam: A New Legacy. This was the first time that LeBron got to be the star of a movie, and it was only fitting that it was in the sequel to a movie that Michael Jordan made famous in the 90s. After all, LeBron is this generation’s MJ, and it was only a matter of time before he got his own Space Jam. Of course, the reactions to this movie were polarizing, but the entire rollout was a massive event, and it was cool to see LeBron go Hollywood like this.

Jon Gruden’s E-Mails Leaked

Jon Gruden

Jon Gruden got himself into some hot water this year as an investigation in the Washington Football Team revealed correspondences that Gruden had with executives on the team back in 2011. The Las Vegas Raiders head coach had used racist, sexist, and homophobic language in these e-mails, while also reportedly calling commissioner Roger Goodell a “f*****.” This ultimately got Gruden fired from his position on the team, and now, he is suing the NFL as he believes he was unfairly targeted by the investigation. At this stage, Gruden is blackballed from the league, and he is doing everything in his power to get some financial compensation. This is one of those stories that could extend until 2022 and maybe even 2023, so stay tuned for all of the latest updates on that.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Wins His First NBA Title

Giannis

Giannis Antetokounmpo had a lot of pressure on his shoulders last season as he went into the year as the defending two-time MVP. Fans wanted to see him get it done in the playoffs, and that is exactly what he did as he led his Bucks to the NBA title. Antetokounmpo was lights out in the Finals and he even scored 50 points in the close-out game against the Phoenix Suns. It was an extraordinary performance that cemented Giannis as one of the best big men to ever play the game. In his young career, Giannis already has an incredible resume, and it can’t be overstated what he means to the city of Milwaukee and the entire state of Wisconsin. Anytime a player showcases his sort of dominance, it is always going to be a big story, especially when they do it on the biggest stage.

Ben Simmons Vs. The Philadelphia 76ers

Ben Simmons

Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images

Ben Simmons has been roasted throughout his career for not knowing how to shoot the basketball. Despite this, he has always been an effective player who can dominate the floor on any given night. Unfortunately, during this year’s NBA Playoffs, things took a turn for the worse as Simmons was nowhere to be found against the Atlanta Hawks. Simmons was looking timid at the rim and when the Sixers lost Game 7 of the series, fans immediately turned on Simmons. Many took to the streets to demand Simmons be traded, and it clearly got to the star, as he is now refusing to play for the team. He has no interest in returning to the floor, and at the time of writing this, the Sixers are desperately looking for trade partners. It’s been a messy divorce, and the Sixers are going to need to get it over with before things get worse than they already are.

Tom Brady Wins His 7th Super Bowl

Going into his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, no one expected Tom Brady to win the Super Bowl. After all, he went into the season as a 43-year-old who was showing he was on the decline in New England. In the end, however, a change of scenery is exactly what Brady needed. The quarterback had a rough start but eventually turned it on in the second half of the year before putting up dominant performances in the playoffs. After making it to his 10th Super Bowl, Brady and the Buccaneers were able to blow out the Kansas City Chiefs, which helped give Brady his seventh Super Bowl title. It was a truly impressive feat and yet another example of why Tom Brady is the undisputed GOAT of football.

Kyrie Irving Refuses The COVID-19 Vaccine

Easily the biggest story of the year has been Kyrie Irving’s refusal to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Irving is one of the best point guards in the league, and when he is healthy, the Brooklyn Nets are immediate contenders. Even without him, the Nets are first place in the Eastern Conference, which just goes to show how stacked he makes the Nets. Unfortunately, however, his teammates have been left in the dust as Kyrie is committed to taking a stand against the vaccine. Due to all of the mandates in New York City, Kyrie is not allowed to play without the vaccine, and while he could play away games, the Nets simply do not want him to be a part-time player. This story has led to numerous debates about Kyrie’s actions and whether or not they are selfish, or justified. It’s been the biggest story of the NBA season so far, and with COVID-19 being a global issue, it’s clear that Kyrie’s actions have led to a large-scale discussion that will last well into 2022.

50 Cent Disses Maison Margiela Tabi Sneakers: “I Don’t Care Who Told You These Fly”

In his latest Instagram attack, rapper 50 Cent has chosen to target not a person this time around, but instead, luxury fashion company Maison Margiela – more specifically, their Tabi-style sneakers that plenty of so-called “fashion killas” are obsessed with.

Late on Monday, the New Yorker shared a screenshot of a red Reebok x Maison Margiela Leather Tabi Sneaker, which retails for approximately $400 CAD. “Nah these, I don’t care who told you these fly,” he captioned the post. “Y’all better get the f*ck outta here!”

If you’re not familiar, the Margiela Tabis are known for the slit that they have between the the big and second toe, creating a unique look that’s often compared to a camel toe. While they’re not for everyone, other, more out-of-the-box artists like Gunna, wear them with pride and confidence.

The comments on Fif’s post show that many people seem to agree with his opinion. “Dat red camel toe lol,” one person wrote. “What in the ninja turtle is this ish right here” and “don’t be splitting my toes like a horse n shit,” others added. Those who actually wear Margiela Tabi’s themselves didn’t even seem to be that upset about 50’s comments, saying “wish more [people] felt this way so they would stop buying them and let me wear my Tabis in peace.”

Cardi B Is Planning To Finally Drop Her Long-Awaited Second Album In 2022

The wait for Cardi B’s second album has been a long one, as Invasion Of Privacy dropped all the way back in 2018. The pandemic has resulted in numerous delays, but now, Cardi says she intends to release her long-awaited album in 2022.

In a 14-minute video Cardi shared on Instagram yesterday, she updates her fans on a few things, like how busy her life has been lately. Part of that is thanks to working on her new album to have it ready for next year, as she said, “Everything be looking so glamorous when you see my f*cking Instagram and everything, but it’s been really… it’s been a lot. It’s been a lot trying to balance out my new motherf*cking life. I got two kids, my daughter’s going to school now, and I have, like, a lot of jobs now. I’m in a lot of positions and that requires a lot of my time, and on top of that, I gotta put out this album next year. Not only do I gotta put out an album, but I gotta record a movie, I gotta do so much sh*t, y’all.”

Despite not having a new LP in a while, Cardi has done a terrific job at remaining present and relevant, as she had a No. 1 single this year with “Up” and another in 2020 with “WAP.”

Cardi B is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

DaBaby’s Return To Rolling Loud Was Marred By Fans Throwing Drinks At Him

As if any more proof was needed that “cancel culture” isn’t real, DaBaby made his return to the Rolling Loud stage this past weekend at Rolling Loud California in San Bernardino. However, it wasn’t quite the triumphant comeback he and the festival’s organizers had perhaps envisioned. It seems that despite being welcomed back by the event’s producers with open arms, DaBaby wasn’t the fan favorite he’d been in previous years.

Fan videos posted to social media apparently captured the less-the-positive reception DaBaby received when his set was time was changed at the last minute on Sunday. Although he’d been scheduled to hit the Power 106 stage at 10:30, for some reason, he was moved to the Ciroc stage, where Future was billed to headline (Future apparently went on later). Whether it was his last-minute appearance that set them off — fans are notoriously fickle, as Drake learned at Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in LA two years ago — or a reaction to the comments he made at his prior Rolling Loud appearance in Miami that got him in hot water, to begin with, is anyone’s guess.

However, you can clearly see bottles flying at the Charlotte rapper from the audience. While it isn’t the worst thing fans have thrown at him, it’s clear he isn’t held in as much esteem by rap fans — although, as he points out in the video, he’s still far from being “canceled.”

HBO has released a trailer for Insecure: The End, a new documentary that will take fans behind the scenes throughout the filming of the final season of the network’s popular series. In the new trailer, Insecure creator Issa Rae can be seen breaking into tears.

Afterward, showrunner Prentice Penny adds: “Working in television for a long time and not being able to see people that looked like me. To be able to do a show like that now sets the groundwork to make more shows like us is just really special.”

Insecure premiered on HBO in October 2016 and follows the life of Issa Dee and her best friend from college, Molly. The show tackles relationships, race in America, and more.

“It’s rare to go to work every day and love every single person we’ve had on our production,” Jay Ellis says. “It’s all you can dream for.”
