Doja Cat Addresses Criticism For Dr. Luke Collaborations: ‘I Haven’t Worked With Him In A Very Long Time’

Although Doja Cat has had a huge breakout in the last two years, her success has come with increased scrutiny — especially when it comes to the stratospheric single that launched her to her current level of fame, “Say So.” The disco-pop hit became Doja’s first No. 1, but some fans have criticized the rapper-singer for collaborating with formerly disgraced producer Dr. Luke on the song. In 2014, Luke was accused of sexual assault and abuse by his protege Kesha, and some fans viewed “Say So” helping to relaunch his popularity as a betrayal of another woman on Doja’s part — despite Doja signing with Luke’s Kemosabe label before the accusations were made public.

In a new profile in Rolling Stone, a reluctant Doja Cat addressed the criticism, saying, “I haven’t worked with him in a very long time. A lot of those songs were . . . There’s shit that he’s credited for, where I’m like, ‘Hmm, I don’t know, I don’t know if you did anything on that.’ ” Although she declines to elaborate on which songs she means, she does offer insight into their future working relationship.

“The point is he’s gotten some credit for sh*t,” she says. “And, you know, it’s whatever. I don’t think I need to work with him again. I don’t think I need to work with him in the future. I know that. I think it was definitely nice of me to work with him.”

In a follow-up statement to Rolling Stone, Doja clarified that, “When asked about Luke I may have said something that someone could interpret as me saying that he had taken credit on things he didn’t deserve to. I just want to be clear that I have no firsthand knowledge of that being the case and I don’t want to participate in the rumor mill. The credits on my music are accurate, and I don’t want to imply anything else.” She attributes the earlier quote to defensiveness about men getting credit for women’s work. “As a young woman I think it is always important to fight for the credit that we are all due, and that was the point I was trying to make there,” she says.

Elsewhere in the rather comprehensive profile, she clears up why she looked bored performing her signature hit toward the end of its run, confirms her viral breakout hit “Mooo!” was an “obvious joke,” and addresses Nas’ throwaway criticism of her on “Ultra Black.”

Urban Meyer Fired By The Jaguars Following Horrific Start

Urban Meyer’s tenure with the Jacksonville Jaguars has been a complete and utter disaster. From a 2-11 start to hitting on young women at bars to berating his own staff in front of the team, Meyer has been on thin ice ever since joining the franchise. There were rumblings that Meyer could get fired as soon as this week, and in the end, that is exactly what happened.

At midnight last night, Meyer was fired by the Jaguars, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. It was then revealed that Darrell Bevell will take his place, and there is no doubt that the new interim head coach will have his work cut out for him, moving forward.

Following the news, Jaguars owner Shad Khan weighed in on the situation with a very blunt take on the team’s head coach. As you will come to find out, this is a decision that the team had been leaning towards for quite some time.

“After deliberation over many weeks and a thorough analysis of the entirety of Urban’s tenure with our team, I am bitterly disappointed to arrive at the conclusion that an immediate change is imperative for everyone,” Khan said. “In the spirit of closure and recharging our players, staff and fan base, I will not comment further until some point following the conclusion of the NFL season.”

The Jaguars have been in disarray due to terrible coaching, and now, they can reset and hopefully get things under control. After all, you don’t want to waste a quarterback talent like Trevor Lawrence.

Young Dolph’s Honorary Memphis Street Officially Unveiled

On Thursday morning, thousands of fans are currently piling into the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee, to celebrate the life of Young Dolph. The late Paper Route Empire founder and beloved Hip-Hop figure was murdered at Markeda’s Cookies on November 17, and approximately one month later, Dolph’s legacy has been permanently cemented into the streets of Memphis.

Two weeks after it was reported that the City of Memphis was planing on renaming a Memphis street in memory of Young Dolph, the newly renamed street has finally been revealed. According to Fox 13 Memphis, the street now known as Adolph “Young Dolph” Thornton Jr. Avenue was unveiled on Wednesday, and the honorary signs will line the intersection of Dunn Road and Airways Blvd, in the same neighborhood where Dolph grew up and ultimately passed away.

Memphis City Councilman JB Smiley, who rallied for the initiative to rename the street after the late artist, said, “This opportunity is for us all to come together show support for a man who did great things not just for the community but by supporting the folks in this community.”

Key Glock and Dolph’s family was also in attendance for the street name unveiling, and both his Aunt Rita Myers and his partner Mia Jerdine spoke on the late rapper’s impact on Memphis.

“Adolph was a man of no fear,” Myers stated. “Unlike other stars of his caliber, he walked these streets alone. He walked Castalia alone. He mingled with the kids in the community.”

“I’m grateful the world can see him for who he truly is. Not the persona that most saw him for being, but who he truly is. He is more than deserving to have a street named after him,” Jerdine added.

See the footage of the newly renamed street below. Rest in peace, Young Dolph.

Kid Cudi Clarifies How To Pronounce His Name: ‘This Has Been Bothering Me For 13 Years’

Most of the world knows Kid Cudi as, well, Kid Cudi, but if you somehow got a hold of the rapper’s driver’s license, it would show his real name, Scott Mescudi. “Mescudi” isn’t exactly as common a last name as something like “Smith” or “Williams,” so it wouldn’t be surprising to learn that the name has been mispronounced a lot over the years. Well, Cudi was on The Tonight Show yesterday, and while chatting with Jimmy Fallon, he took a minute to teach the world how to say his name.

After discussing the origin of his stage name, Fallon sought clarification about how to pronounce Cudi’s real last name, asking, “Is it… ‘mess-CUD-e,’” pronouncing the last two syllables like how one would say “Cudi.” With a smile, Cudi said, “We’re going to do this right now. I really want everybody to learn how to pronounce my last name. This has been bothering me for 13 years. I know I kind of confuse everybody with my rap name. It’s ‘MESS-cud-e.’”

That lesson was preceded by Cudi telling Fallon that he started his music career with the Lil Wayne-inspired rap name Lil Scott before shifting to Kid Mesc, which ended up causing confusion and people pronouncing it like “Kid Mess.” Eventually, he landed on Kid Cudi, which has clearly stuck.

Elsewhere during the conversation, Cudi spoke about his role in Don’t Look Up and the alter ego he made for himself when he used to work at Applebee’s, so watch the full chat above.

Kanye West Is Planning His Funeral Rehearsal & Turning His Homes Into Churches

Kanye West fans have been spoiled throughout the latter half of 2021. In addition to delivering his sprawling tenth studio album Donda, the 44-year-old artist now known as Ye also gave one of the most entertaining interviews of the year on Drink Champs and reunited with Drake for the Free Larry Hoover Benefit concert.

Now, the polarizing artist is back with yet another interview, and this time around, Ye has landed an eccentric feature in 032c. According to Complex, the culture magazine added a special standalone booklet to its 40th issue that includes a lengthy interview between artist Tino Sehgal and the artist formerly known as Kanye West.

One of the main focuses of the interview is Ye’s current project, a secretive performance piece that’s reportedly titled The Funeral Rehearsal of Kanye West. While he didn’t offer too much insight into what the project will entail, it is revealed that the idea was inspired by Ye’s recent trip Berlin.

“[The Funeral Rehearsal of Kanye West] is the death of Kanye West. It is the death of the ego that separates us – it’s the birth of humanity,” Ye explained. “Let me start by killing myself. The less you, the more room for God.”

In addition to talking about his grandiose ego death-themed performance piece, Ye also takes a moment to humble himself and admit that he can be a bit corny at times.

“You know, I got a little drop of corniness, that little golden drop that makes it popular,” Ye told 032c. “But I can’t let nobody love me too much, because I’m gonna get into this trap of love. And then I owe it to everyone to be the person that they fell in love with. And I’ll never be that person. I have to always have the freedom of being disliked, so I can always be me.”

Further along in the interview, the topic of capitalism came up, and following the expensive merchandise prices at the Free Larry Hoover benefit concert, some fans may be surprised to learn that Ye is critical of the capitalist model.

“We are under capitalist rule, and it’s killing us. It’s time to change that,” the Donda artist says, explaining his decision to turn his million-dollar homes into churches and artist sanctuaries. “I’m going to be homeless in a year. I’m going to turn all the homes I own into churches. We’re making this orphanage, and it will be a place where anyone can go. It should be like an artist commune. Food should always be available.”

Kanye West has made lofty claims like these in past interviews from the early 2010s and actually followed through on some of those ideas, so it will be interesting to see how he brings his latest ideas to fruition. Let us know how you feel about Ye’s statements from his 032c interview in the comment section below.

Rihanna Wax Figure Made Over For Christmas, Fans Say It Looks Nothing Like Her

It’s hard to imagine exactly how much work goes into the creation of a wax figure that is meant to be a one-of-one representation of a famous celebrity. There’s a lot of pressure to get all of the details correct and usually, wax museums like Madame Tussauds succeed in bringing our favorite movie characters, singers, and other A-listers to life through their unique sculptures. Unfortunately for the Rihanna Navy though, last week’s unveiling of the billionaire’s wax figure at Madame Tussauds in Berlin looks nothing like the singer, according to fans.

In order to get ready for the winter holidays, several of the wax figures at Madame Tussauds in Berlin underwent festive makeovers, including Rihanna, who is now wearing a Santa-inspired red bodysuit, pearl necklace accessories, and more as she stands in front of a Christmas-y background. There’s only one issue though… she doesn’t really look like herself.

Fans across the globe are complaining about how Rihanna’s wax figure doesn’t actually resemble the pop star, which is strange because back in 2015, the same museum was able to nail her look for the Christmas holiday when they gave her a similar makeover.

“THAT IS NOT RIHANNA,” commented one fan of the singer under one tweet. That emotion has been strongly felt by many others who have responded to the holiday switch-up for Rih.

What do you think? Do you see the resemblance or is this as bad as people are saying?
