Youngs Teflon Gets Retrospective On “6 A.M. On The Island”

South London MC Youngs Teflon has bubbled through the UK scene over the past few years. Fans have eagerly awaited his upcoming project which is officially on the way. Ahead of its release, the rapper took a page out of Drake’s book and delivered his own variation of the “timestamp” joints. “6 a.m. On The Islands” finds Youngs Teflon sharing a vulnerable side of himself over pitched up vocal samples, reflecting on coming up in the game, his childhood, and the obstacles he faced to get to where he is today.

Lil Flip Initially Wanted $3 Million For “Verzuz,” Now Down To $500K

It was just about this time last year when Lil Flip mentioned what it would take for him to appear on Verzuz, and he recently rehashed the conversation. In January 2021, Flip entertained the idea of going toe-to-toe with T.I. on the popular music platform but back then, he said it would take a hefty bag to get him to sign on the dotted line. Flip and T.I. were once beefing and now that things have subsided, fans want to see them make an appearance. Although, not everyone was convinced that these two were the right match.

Regardless, Flip recently caught up with VladTV and during the chat, he once again spoke about this potential match-up. Albeit, this time, he opened up about just how much money he’s seeking for a possible Verzuz performance.

“At first my number was, like, [$3 million] and then it was a million, but now, after I got a chance to go be on the Verzuz set in person and have fun, anything around the $500K mark is cool because I had so much fun,” he said, referencing him showing face at the controversial Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Three  Mafia Verzuz. 

Although the Houston icon previously called out T.I., Flip now clarifies that he’s not actively seeking out any of his specific peers to challenge, but he does believe that because he has been in the game for so long, those Verzuz numbers will stack if he appeared on the show. Ghostface Killah Taps Shaun Wiah On “Let Me Touch Ya”

Ghostface Killah already vowed to deliver a new album this year and it seems that he’s already preparing the roll out. On New Year’s Eve, the rapper returned with a lush new single titled, “Let Me Touch Ya” ft. Shaun Wiah. The rapper gets in his lover-boy bag on this one, as he details his love for a special someone. Think “Back Like That” but in 2022. Shaun Wiah’s smooth crooning ties the record together, especially with his interpolation of Mario’s “Let Me Love You.”

Ghost announced that he was preparing for the release of Supreme Clientele 2 this year which will be executive produced entirely by Kanye West and Mike Dean. The album is expected to be out in Feb. 2022.

YG Reportedly Won’t Be Charged In His 2020 Robbery Case

At the beginning of 2020, YG’s San Fernando Valley home was raided by L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies and the rapper was arrested for ties to a robbery. Prior to today, no charges had been made and his lawyer claimed his client would be cleared of any wrongdoing. On Tuesday, TMZ reported that the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has decided to not officially charge the rapper. “Not enough evidence of what defendant did to aid and abet the crime,” documents obtained by the publication read. “Presence during the crime alone is not sufficient.”

YG briefly spoke about the 2020 incident with help from his daughter Harmony on his 2020 album My Life 4Hunnid. On an interlude entitled “Traumatized,” Harmony says, “Daddy, the police just came and they’re knocking on the door, looking for you, and they have a gun in my face, and I don’t like that!” Towards the end of the album, on “Traumatized Interlude #2,” Harmony returns to plead for her father’s freedom after his arrest. “Daddy, when are you coming home?” she asks. “I miss you! And can you hurry up, ’cause the pigs kill people and I’m scared!”

The news comes after YG, his TeleHealth program, and the City of Hawthorne teamed up to provide additional mental health resources for low-income Los Angeles residents.

IQ Tags Stefflon Don For “Bun Fi Bun”

IQ has proven to be one of the most versatile acts right now. He’s known for his dancehall stylings, though he’s recently shown what he can do with drill production with songs like, “Which One.” Now, he’s bringing it back to the roots with a little help from Stefflon Don, whose proven to be just as versatile. The two artists connect for their fiery new single, “Bun Fi Bun.” It’s a slow-burning dancehall record filled with vibrant production and melodies.

Stefflon Don is nearly four years removed from her project, SECURE. Fans haven’t received a follow-up to the 2018 project yet but she did deliver a slew of singles throughout 2021 including the BEAM-assisted, “Beg Mi Ah Link.”

Jason Derulo Punches Man Who Heckles Him With Usher Mention: Report

There was a scuffle in Las Vegas after hitmaker Jason Derulo swung on two random men who yelled at him. Although few details have been shared regarding what led up to the fight, the public has been struggling with the explanation given by TMZ. The outlet shared a video of the interaction which occurred at the popular celebrity favorite ARIA Resort & Casino early Tuesday (January 4), showing Derulo being heckled by two men who ended up on the receiving side of the singer’s attack.

Reports state the things kicked off while Derulo was on an escalator where he passed two men who yelled out to him, “Hey Usher! F*ck you, b*tch!”

It’s unclear why this seemed to set Derulo off, but he quickly acted and hit one of the men in the face. As that man dropped to the ground, Derulo is accused of slapping a second man before security jumped in to calm the ruckus. TMZ reported that neither of the men decided to press charges, but if they wanted to in the future, Derulo could be hit with a lawsuit.

The purported victims also reportedly refused medical care for either of their injuries, but they were allegedly seen bleeding. Derulo has yet to publicly address the incident, but he was escorted off of ARIA’s property. Because Derulo is known for trolling the public with his social media videos, some have accused him of staging this event for popularity, however, that has not been substantiated.

Calboy Is The Latest To Tackle Kodak Black’s “Super Gremlin”

Looking back at 2021, Kodak Black served up a late song of the year contender with “Super Gremlin.” Among one of his better post-prison releases, the song captured Yak’s falling out with Jackboy and his struggle after his return home. However, the emotionally potent record quickly became a fan favorite. Footage from Kodak’s Rolling Loud performance in New York showed a flock of individuals singing the record word-for-word.

In the past few weeks, more rappers have flipped the record for their own version. Just before Christmas, Latto blazed through the record for a new freestyle and now, Calboy follows suit. The rapper leaps into the production with a bleak portrayal of his childhood and emerging out of poverty before popping his shit. What’s more interesting about the song is that he seems to publicly distance himself to Meek Mill’s Dream Chasers imprint who he previously signed to for management. “I ran up the mills, I don’t fuck with no Dream Chasers, better stand on your business” he raps on the record.

Young Thug Kicked Off The New Year By Helping A Man Jump-Start His Car

Young Thug has wasted no time doing good deeds in the new year. The Atlanta rapper was driving around when he noticed a man on a side street dealing with truck problems. Thug came to the rescue. “Just gave this man a jump-start,” Thug said in an Instagram video he posted afterward. “I don’t know why God made him pull me over, but he saw my truck and was like ‘yo, yo, yo’ flagged me down. I gave him a jump-start.”

It joins a string of kind acts that Thug has performed in recent months. Last year, he and fellow Atlanta rapper Gunna helped to pay bail for 30 inmates in their hometown’s Fulton County Jail. “We just woke up and went to the jail with the lawyer and DA’s and the prosecutors, the bonding companies, and just got as many people as we can out,” Thug said at the time. Gunna added, “You never know what somebody been through. There was people sitting out three or four years and couldn’t get out on a bond.”

Thug is also working on constructing Slime City, a 100-acre area of land that he was gifted for his birthday last year, which he hopes to fill with high-quality homes, a waterpark, a camping site, a bike trail, and more.

NLE Choppa Claps Back At People Joking About His BBL Herbs

The self-proclaimed herbalist has been sharing his wellness journey for some time, but not everyone is taking NLE Choppa seriously. The Memphis native has made it clear that his legacy isn’t just about his music, but his impact in helping his peers with maintaining healthier lifestyles and sobriety. However, after he tweeted that he could help people acquire nature breast enhancements and BBLs, people trolled the rapper.

We previously reported on Choppa writing, “2022 I will be presenting a herb that NATURALLY works ass a BBL also increases breast size. For every 3000 SURGERIES there is one death. Let’s naturally get the body you want. I am here to assist [purple heart emoji].”

Although he didn’t specify what this herb is and how it can help enhance one’s curves, Choppa stands ten toes down on his statement. There have been many studies reported about the dangers of BBLs, or Brazilian Butt Lift surgeries, not just during the operation itself, but in the months-long recovery, as well as years after, as people struggle to maintain their body shapes. Many who have undergone BBL surgery have taken to social media to lament about regrets because they have stated they have to continuously work out and stay in the gym in order to maintain their figures.

Meanwhile, Choppa took note of the criticism and jeers that were pouring in, and he issued a response.

“Why when I try to help y’all it’s jokes, or I’m crazy, or it’s impossible,” he tweeted. “Y’all immature and should innerstand I’m trying to help our queens and kings. Young Thug Starts 2022 With A Random Act Of Kindness

Many have vouched for Young Thug’s generosity over the years. Lil Baby confirmed the tale of Thugger paying him to go into the studio to keep him out of the streets. Machine Gun Kelly earned a verse on the critically acclaimed So Much Fun after the album was released, all because Thug promised to do so. There are countless other tales but it’s clear that he’s pushing more positive energy into 2022 as shown on his Instagram Story earlier today.

A man found himself in need of a jump start when his car broke down and fortunately, Thug was there to save the day. The rapper took to his IG Story where he revealed that he helped a man out who flagged him down for help as he was cruising around. 

“Just gave this man a jump-start,” Thug said while showing the car of the individual he helped. “I don’t know why God made him pull me over, but he saw my truck and was like ‘yo, yo, yo,’ flagged me down. I gave him a jump-start.”

Thug is still riding high off of the release of his latest album, PUNK. The album dropped back in October, earning the rapper slots across many year-end lists. While it wouldn’t be surprising to hear a follow-up later this year, the YSL crew is currently focusing on the release of Gunna’s next project, Drip Season 4, which Thug is likely to appear on.
