Charlie Wilson to Receive Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Charlie Wilson deserves all his flowers… and now he’s enjoying the fruits of his labor.

On Monday, Jan. 29th, the Gap Band vocalist not only celebrated his 71st birthday but was honored with the coveted star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The highly-anticipated event drew out all the elites in the music industry, including Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Tyler The Creator, Babyface, Ty Dolla $ign, Tank, and more.

Babyface was one of the speakers, giving a heartwarming speech paying homage to the greatness that Charlie Wilson is. Babyface states, “I’m just so proud to be a part of your life. For you to even know me, to know my name and say anything to me period, I’m geeked about that. Please, I wanna say it again, give love to Charlie Wilson cause he deserves this.”

Snoop Dogg also shared his sentiments on Instagram, including throwback videos of the two performing their standout hit “Upside Ya Head.” The caption reads, “Congratulations to #CharlieWilson on receiving his MUCH DESERVED star along the Hollywood Walk Of Fame! 🍾

While Charlie Wilson first exploded onto the scene in the 1970s as a member of the Gap Band, his solo color took its own course. He has 11 songs with Kanye West and over a dozen with Snoop Dogg.
