Key Glock Has ‘No Choice’ But To Hustle In His Somber New Video

Even in the wake of Young Dolph’s passing, his protege Key Glock is carrying the torch for Paper Route Empire, continuing to support the deluxe version of his 2021 album, Yellow Tape 2. His latest release is the video for “No Choice,” which sees him return to the snowy landscape from his and Dolph’s Dum And Dummer 2 videos as he ruminates on his “hustle or die” mentality over a soulful loop. Shots of Glock on tour, rapping on stage, and even playing basketball are interspersed throughout.

The Memphis native recently gave his first interview since his mentor was shot and killed in front of a local bakery last year, detailing how Dolph’s death has affected him. “I’m maintaining,” he said. “I’m not getting better, I’m not getting worse. I’m just here right now. I can’t shake it, man. I ain’t even gonna lie. I can’t even shake it. It is what it is.”

Since then, though, he has done his best to make Dolph proud — even releasing a single on the label compilation paying tribute to their fallen leader called “Proud” — and dropped videos for “Painkillers” and “Play For Keeps,” as well as appearing in the video for Gucci Mane’s “Blood All On It,” which also featured a verse from the late Dolph.

With “Play For Keeps,” a new video single from the upcoming deluxe edition of Yellow Tape 2, Glock channels his inner Fast & Furious. Glock glides over unique piano chords and booming subwoofers as he delivers some of his most electric flows on the Sledgren-produced track.

Glock is seen in the video for “Play For Keeps” surrounded by the riches of his autonomous domination. Glock illustrates that few things are more deadly than a man with alternatives, bouncing through a list of dream cars including a Cullinan, a McLaren, and a Hellcat.

Key Glock Gets Candid About His Life In His Flashy ‘Play For Keeps’ Video

Towards the end of last year, Memphis rapper Key Glock arrived with his second album Yellow Tape 2. The project was his second full-length release of the year after he teamed up with the late Young Dolph for their Dum And Dummer 2. The project’s 20 songs were delivered without a single guest feature as Key Glock took care of all the album’s vocal duties. That could change soon as he prepares to drop a deluxe version of the project at the end of the month. Yellow Tape 2 (Deluxe) is set to arrive on March 25, and ahead of its arrival, Key Glock returns with a new song and video.

Key Glock keeps things flashy in his new video for “Play For Keeps.” The visual sees him surrounded by a collection of yellow luxury vehicles — appropriate for his Yellow Tape 2 project. Key Glock raps confidently into the camera while flexing his jewelry and showing off his shoe game. It’s a promising single that highlights what’s to come on Yellow Tape 2 (Deluxe).

The upcoming re-release will add 10 songs to the project’s original 20 tracks. In addition to “Play For Keeps,” Key Glock has also released “Proud” and “Pain Killers” as singles from the upcoming deluxe release.

With the release of his new video single, “Pain Killers,” and the announcement of Yellow Tape 2 (Deluxe), which adds ten new tracks to the blockbuster original album and debuts March 25th via Paper Route Empire, Key Glock returns with more momentum than ever before.

In the new video, Glock can be seen cruising around snow-capped slopes in his iconic yellow Cullinan before hoofing it through the winter wilderness with his cashmere friend, a goat.

Key Glock Walks A Goat In His ‘Painkillers’ Video To Announce The Deluxe Edition Of ‘Yellow Tape 2’

Does anyone else feel like rappers are taking this GOAT thing a little too far? Not only have a bunch of rappers gone around calling themselves the GOAT (an acronym meaning “Greatest Of All Time” as first coined by LL Cool J on his 2000 eighth studio album, The G.O.A.T.), but they’ve actually taken to throwing images of actual goats all over their videos and album covers.

Lil Durk added a couple of extra heads to the goat in his, Lil Baby, and Polo G’s “3 Headed Goat” video in 2020, which made it look like something out of Greek mythology. That same year, Rylo Rodriguez turned himself into a photoshopped faun on his Goat In Human Form cover, drawing amused reactions from rap fans on Twitter. And last year, Young Dolph and Key Glock called themselves “A Goat & A Dolphin” for single from their joint album, Dum & Dummer.

Now, Key Glock is keeping that theme going with his new video for “Painkillers,” in which he walks a goat on a leash through a snowy mountaintop scene, which also continues a motif from his and Dolph’s Dum & Dummer sequel last year. He also cruises through the snow in his custom yellow Rolls Royce Phantom, which picks up a thread from his Yellow Tape cover — which is apropos, considering “Painkillers” is one of 10 new tracks that will appear on the deluxe edition of Yellow Tape 2, also announced today. The deluxe reissue will land at DSPs on March 25 via Paper Route Empire, Glock’s first solo release since the death of Young Dolph in a shooting late last year. Key Glock Shares His ‘Something Bout Me’ Video As He Releases ‘Yellow Tape 2’

A little under two years removed from his surprise breakout with the original Yellow Tape, Memphis upstart Key Glock has returned to the project that made him one of hip-hop’s names to watch with Yellow Tape 2, which dropped today via Empire and Young Dolph’s Paper Route Empire. The project, which clocks in at 20 tracks — four more than its predecessor — contains no features but does have beats from notable producers like BandPlay, Buddah Bless, Juicy J, and Tay Keith.

In addition to dropping the album, Key Glock also shared the video for “Something Bout Me,” a rough-riding single produced by Tay Keith. In the video, KG runs several operations with the help of a squad of scantily clad companions. When business wraps up for the night, the women disrobe even further for an after-hours party where they twerk for the rapper as he relaxes and appreciates their talents. The single follows the video for “Ambition For Cash,” released a month ago to start the promo cycle for the new album.

Yellow Tape 2 brings Key Glock’s catalog of releases since 2020 to three projects, including his summer 2020 mixtape Son Of A Gun and his early 2021 joint album with Young Dolph, Dum And Dummer 2. He’s turning out to be quite the prolific creator, contributing to his growing profile as one of hip-hop’s hottest rising stars.
