Kanye West Restocks YZY GAP Collab Items For $20 Each

Kanye West is apparently making a lot of money off of Yeezy right now following a Super Bowl ad and a brand-new album with Ty Dolla $ign. Moreover, he recently brought back items from his YZY GAP collab on his website, selling hoodies, sweatpants, and the like for $20 each. This led to a big sales spike due to previously high-priced items getting a significant cut, so it’s natural to assume that this wouldn’t be the end of this strategy. Whether or not the Chicago creative’s extracurricular behavior and statements holds you back from copping a piece or two is a personal decision. However, it’s clearly not one that concerned a lot of fans who contributed to this success.

Furthermore, Ye’s profits from the release of Vultures, and those belonging to Ty Dolla, seem quite impressive. According to a Billboard estimate, their independent drop has resulted in almost a million in profits for them without having to give any cuts to a record label. Despite the promotional and marketing power behind the album lessening, fans still took the project to No. 1 on the publication’s albums chart. We’ll have to see just how much more success it finds in the near future.

Kanye West Brings Back YZY GAP With A Price Cut

Both artists had pretty cut-and-dry reactions to hitting this top spot, which points to the misleading nature of this “independent” claim. While nonetheless impressive, it’s also the kind of thing that only massive artists can pull off without hurting their pockets in the long run. Although it would be great to see more artists find more freedom within their label contracts and release limitations, it seems like only artists like Kanye West have the pockets and reach to sidestep this outright. Perhaps we can start thinking not just about how artists can reach this at an individual level, but also about how they can support each other and create wider change.

Meanwhile, do you think you’ll cop some of these new (well, restocked) YZY GAP drops? Are you heading to one of their European listening parties this week? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments section down below. Also, stick around on HNHH for the latest news and updates on Kanye West.

Kanye West Announces Potential Yeezy Season 9 Paris Fashion Show

Kanye West Asks “Can I get uhhhhhhhhh.....” in McDonald's Super Bowl Spot

Whenever Kanye West is actively using social media, it is recommended that followers are tapped in. Over the last month, the billionaire music and fashion mogul has used his Instagram to bring awareness and express his grievances regarding his partnerships with both Adidas and Gap.

Last week he took another step in ending the relationship with Gap after sending a termination letter to the company.

On Sunday he took to his Instagram to post a summary of restrictions draft that was sent to him in response to his termination letter. The restrictions read:

“Neither Yeezy nor Ye may use, wear, sponsor, promote market, advertise, encore, design, manufacture, license sell, or provide consulting services with respect to any of the following products under the Yeezy Trademarks or Ye’s likeness or any other identifiable attribute, feature or indica of Ye.”

“Welp I guess the war’s not over,” said Ye under the post.

He later posted Gap’s list of Board of Directors twice. In the first post, he made followers aware of the lack of support he has gotten for his upcoming fashion show.

“Magically No production companies have been willing to produce my YZYSZN9 fashion show in Paris on October 3rd,” said Ye.

In the second post, he criticized Gap’s Chairman of the Board and Interim CEO, Bobby Martin, for what Ye insinuated hypocrisy.

“Funny that Bob Martin called me and said we are amicably ending our deal But I can’t do a fashion show but they can keep selling my product hmmmmm,” said Ye.

A number of reasons led to the termination of the Yeezy Gap partnership including not opening retail stores. The company was required to open five stores by July 2023.

We’ll continue to monitor Ye’s relationship with both Gap and Adidas.

Ye also recently joined TikTok as well. In his debut to the popular platform, he posted a video listening to his Grammy Award winning Jesus Is King album.

Kanye West Claims That Gap Held A Meeting Without Him

Last month, Kanye West brought Yeezy Gap to stores for the first time. Of course, this was not without controversy; he received criticism when fans noticed that the items were kept in large, black bags that some compared to trash bags.

Now, he’s stirring up drama again after teasing the Yeezy Gap collaboration with Balenciaga. The rapper posted a photo of the brand’s reflective visor and put the caption: “Gap held a meeting about me without me?”

Commenters weighed in on the situation, with one person writing, “Rule number 1… Never leave out Ye.” Another wrote, “Gap needs to find God.” Hopefully, this situation will get cleared up soon.

West went on Fox News to respond to the trash bag comparisons. He told commentators there, “This is, like, not a joke. This is not a game. This is not just some celebrity collaboration. This is my life, you know? I’m fighting for a position to be able to change clothing and bring the best design to the people.” He told Fox News viewers his goal was to make clothing that’s “more egalitarian and not as pretentious,” and that people shouldn’t “clown the creators” because that will “make innovators and other designers” start acting “less brave.”

Kanye West’s Video For ‘Life Of The Party’ Will Premiere In An Ad For Yeezy Gap Engineered By Balenciaga

As 2022 got underway, it appeared that Kanye West would shift his attention to his eleventh album Donda 2. The project eventually arrived in February, but not in the traditional way that we might have expected. He decided that the album would be housed exclusively on his Stem Player website, and to this day, he’s yet to upload the project to streaming services. However, since releasing Donda last summer, Kanye has continued to share content from the album. He dropped a visual for “Hurricane,” the Grammy-winning standout from the album and now he’s announced that a visual for “Life Of The Party” is on the way.

The track, which features Andre 3000 and finds both rappers speaking about their mothers, will have a matching visual for it released later today. With today being Mother’s Day, it’s a perfect day to share the video for the song. The visual will be available to view on all streaming platforms starting at 9:45pm EST later tonight.

A press release for the video’s announcement also revealed that the visual will appear in the first TV commercial for Yeezy Gap Engineered By Balenciaga. New pieces from the collaboration, which has been described as a “creative exploration,” will debut in the commercial. The items will be available for release on May 25 at 9am EST/6pm PST on Yeezy Gap’s website as well as sites for Balenciaga’s online partners: Farfetch, Mytheresa, and Luisa Via Roma.

Later tonight, you can click here to watch the video for “Life Of The Party.”

Kanye’s ‘Heaven And Hell’ Video Is Essentially An Eerie Gap Commercial

In the newest phase of his career, Kanye has become more fashion-focused than ever before — and the music videos and live performances he’s released around his latest album reflect that. Considering Donda was unveiled over several different listening sessions, it makes sense that the artist now known simply as Ye is just getting around to introducing music videos for some of the project’s songs.

Tonight, he shared the video for Donda track “Heaven And Hell” as a traditional music video — albeit one where every faceless person in the video is wearing the black hoodie he designed for Gap — but also as a Gap ad itself, first aired on ESPN during the College Football National Championship game. If you’re interested in purchasing the hoodie, you can head to yeezygap.com, where you’ll be prompted to fill in your name, email and sizes. The hoodie currently comes in both adult and child sizes, and in either black and blue. It’s $80 for an adult and $60 for a child size.

Check out the full “Heaven And Hell” video above to get quite a few glimpses of the item. It might not be the puffer, but this looks like it could be another classic Kanye staple very soon.

Ye’s Yeezy Gap Is Teaming Up With Balenciaga For A New Collection

Ye’s Yeezy Gap partnership has so far offered more hype than it has actual products, but now he has announced a new venture: Yeezy Gap is teaming up with Balenciaga for a new collection called Yeezy Gap Engineered By Balenciaga.

The endeavor is a collaboration between Ye and Balenciaga creative director Demna (who also had a Ye-like name change recently, as they were previously known as Demna Gvasalia). It’s not currently clear what sort of items the collection will include, but the first drop is expected this June, with another following later in the year.

Ye teased the announcement by sharing an image of a contract related to the collaboration this morning. Additionally, he told Vogue, “It is a vision come true to work with Gap and Demna, the creative director of Balenciaga, to make incredible product available to everyone at all times.”

Demna also said, “This is a very different challenge. I’ve always appreciated the utilitarianism and the accessibility of Gap. I share some of the same sensibilities in my creative language. This project allowed me to join forces [with Ye] to create utilitarian fashion for all. […] There’s a certain urban minimalism and poetry in our aesthetics, [and] also a desire to push boundaries.”

He was also effusive about the process of working with Ye, saying, “There are very few people that I know, especially of Ye’s caliber, who really understand my work so well. He makes me come out of my comfort zone and be a better designer. There’s no ego when we collaborate, just a mutual drive to evolve and do something great and new.”

Kanye West Celebrated His Birthday By Releasing A Single Yeezy Gap Product In The Middle Of The Night

It was around this time last year that Kanye West (who turns 44 years old today, June 8) and Gap officially announced their Yeezy Gap partnership. Now, nearly 12 months later, the line is starting to make its way out into the world, even if it feels like more of a soft launch than a full release. In the wee small hours of the morning today (at 3 a.m. ET, as Complex notes), the Yeezy Gap line launched with just one item: a puffy blue coat.

The listing for the item on the Gap website dubs it the “round jacket,” and it’s only available in a light blue color. The jacket is made of recycled nylon, is designed to have a unisex fit, and is priced at $200. The jacket is currently available for pre-order in the US only and is set to ship this upcoming fall. There is no indication of when more Yeezy Gap items are set for release. Complex also notes that West was photographed wearing the jacket while out in Los Angeles a few days ago.

To promote the jacket, Kanye went with an attention-grabbing stunt: An image of the jacket was projected on the sides of some buildings in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles. Also included on the projection are the Yeezy Gap logo and a QR code.

This follows rumors that Yeezy Gap was set to launch in June, so perhaps that means we’ll see more from Yeezy Gap soon.
