Ice Spice is a star, but she doesn’t have a debut album yet. She’s done well on the back of her 2023 EP Like..?, which in its longest form, the deluxe edition, has 11 tracks clocking in at a total of 22 minutes. Fans want more, though, and are hopeful to hear about when her debut album will arrive. We still don’t know when that will be yet, but today (November 14), Ice appeared to tease something new coming next year.
The rapper took to social media to share a new photo of herself, posing with her lower back exposed to show off an ornate tattoo in the region. She captioned the post, “Y2K! ?/?/24,” seemingly teasing something (perhaps a song or album called “Y2K”) with a release date at some point in 2024. Given that Ice’s birth date is January 1, 2000 (the first day of Y2K), it’s possible she has something on the way on the first day of 2024. This is all just speculation based on the post and relevant context, though, and it’s not yet clear what exactly is going on here.
Y2K is not just a term for what some felt would be the end of the world at the turn of the millennium. In fact, the term is now used to describe the fashion aesthetics that came with the early 2000s. Overall, this style has come back into fashion, and it has led to some pretty incredible sneakers. Today, we are looking at five of the Y2K sneaker styles that ultimately dominated the last 11 months. These shoes could very well be perfect for your Holiday shopping.
Firstly, we have the Adidas Samba OG. Overall, this is a fantastic shoe for numerous reasons. It has that simple Samba silhouette to it. Furthermore, the color scheme is pretty simple as it is mostly white with black stripes. During the 2000s, this kind of shoe was everywhere, and even today, it remains a staple of any sneaker wardrobe. You truly cannot go wrong with these.
Secondly, you really cannot mention Y2K without also talking about how almost everything had some sort of chrome element to it. The Asics Gel 1130 is already a dope runner that has that turn-of-the-millennium feel to it. However, the “Canyon” color scheme pushes that aesthetic further thanks to the chrome overlays on top of a neutral base. These will make you feel nostalgic, while also making you stand out in a crowd.
Subsequently, we get into a shoe that has made a huge resurgence over the last few years. Of course, we are talking about the Nike SB Dunk Low. Beyond just Y2K, this has always been a phenomenal model. However, the white leather upper, black Nike swoosh and gum outsole come together phenomenally well. Gum soles are also coming back in a big way, which makes this a banger of a sneaker.
Next up on the list we have this gorgeous all-grey version of the New Balance 2002RD. This is a shoe that goes heavy on the dark grey aesthetic. However, it does so in a way that is unique. There is a premium quality to the sneaker. Additionally, New Balance has been increasing its profile as of late, and it has led to some fantastic offerings. With this model, you will definitely be standing out amongst others going for the NB look.
Lastly, on this list, we have the Nike Air Force 1 Low x Terror Squad collaboration. This comes in a “Porpoise” offering that will surely appease those looking for the Y2K aesthetic. In fact, we get it on the back heel thanks to the light blue hue that gives off some chrome vibes. Overall, this is a dope shoe and the collab is one that is baked into hip-hop history. Needless to say, it is a must-cop.

Normally, Lizzo is pretty active on social media sharing plenty of content and interacting with fans. But last month, fans were shocked to find out that former dancers were filing a lawsuit against the singer for various workplace misconduct allegations. The singer herself responded to the allegations, as did many others online. That eventually led to another statement from the dancers expressing their disappointment with her response downplaying their experiences. Since all of that news broke, Lizzo has been pretty quiet on social media but now she’s shared a new picture.
In a pair of new pictures she shared, Lizzo is sporting a jean skirt and tight black top. But what most fans are honing on is her belt. She’s wearing a name belt and throwback to one of the major fashion trends of the 2000s. In The Shade Room‘s post about her outfit, they also include pictures of stars like Madonna and Mariah Carey sporting similar belts in the 2000s. Check out the entire post below.
The last time she took to social media it was to share a video of a new song she’s clearly feeling. Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B teamed up for a second time on their new single “Bongos” and they’ve found a fan in Lizzo. She showed a clip of herself twerking to the song in her yard on Instagram last week. She captioned the post “My back sound like a bongoooooooo,” querying from the song. As you’d expect the comment section was divided between her usual haters, those discussing her recent allegations, and her die hard fans.
Despite her allegations, Lizzo is set to receive a pretty major award soon. The Black Music Action Coalition will be giving the singer a Humanitarian award at their upcoming Gala. The move resulted in very divided opinions among fans following her allegations. What do you think of Lizzo’s newest fit pics? Let us know in the comment section below.
For those of you who may not know, Y2K-style sneakers are very much in right now. The Y2K style as a whole has been doing numbers online. Whether it be through TikTok or Instagram, a lot of people want to showcase their early-2000s-inspired outfits. Overall, this has been a very fun trend to watch. At this point, it doesn’t seem like it will be coming to an end anytime soon. Consequently, we are bringing you some of our favorite Y2K-style sneakers.
Firstly, we have the New Balance 1906R in the “Sea Salt Eclipse True Red” color scheme. This is an amazing chunky runner that definitely has that 2000s feel to it. Additionally, we have that whitish-silver upper that was so popular during that time. Navy blue, red, and beige bring the whole look together. If you are a New Balance fan who wants to relive 20 years ago, you need these in your life. (Image via Stadium Goods)
Another New Balance can be found on this list, although this time, we have Aime Leon Dore. Ultimately, this creation is just fantastic. That iconic New Balance design is front and center here. Although, unlike the previous shoe, this one has a bit more color. From the reds to the creams to the white and black midsole, this is just a clean shoe that you cannot go wrong with. If there is one thing that separates Y2K-style sneakers from other shoes, it would have to be the inclusion of lots of silver and chrome. With the Asics Gel-Kayano 14 “Metallic Plum,” that is exactly what we get. The base of the shoe is creamy beige, however, the overlays are a phenomenal shade of silver. There is a very clear aesthetic here, and we think a lot of sneakerheads will appreciate it. (Image via Stadium Goods)
Subsequently, we have yet another pair from Asics. Except for this time, we have the GT-2160 model. Either way, this is yet another dope runner that just so happens to have gotten a Kith collaboration. The above “Scarab” colorway is great and much like the previous model, it leans into the silver look. There are also some beige shades here which help round out the sneaker. (Image via Stadium Goods)
If you are looking to get the Saucony Progrid Triumph 4 in the “Otherworld” colorway, then just know you are buying a rave for your feet. Back in the day, the Euro Pop fad had people wearing neon colors with a black base to them. That is exactly what we get here as there are neon greens, purples, and blues placed on top of a silver and black shell. Perhaps the most Y2K shoe on our list yet. (Image via Stadium Goods)
Overall, the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Four Horseman” is seen as a Y2K shoe because of the nostalgia it brings forward. This is a sneaker that came out years ago as a way to pay homage to LeBron James and his inner circle. Firstly, the upper is covered in white leather, while green highlights are placed throughout. Overall, it is a simple yet effective shoe that LeBron stans will love and adore. (Image via Stadium Goods)
Next up on the list, we have the Nike Air Presto. The “University Blue” colorway is iconic when it comes to Nike and Jordan Brand. When it comes to a silhouette like the Presto, the sky blue hue gives off a cool and unique vibe that almost looks chrome-like. Ultimately, it is yet another clean sneaker that proves mass appealing. Lastly, we have the Adidas Samba Vegan in a “White Gum” colorway. Overall, the Samba has proven to be a huge winner in 2023. It is a shoe that embraces numerous eras, but especially the early 2000s. If you want something basic but that can be a staple of your wardrobe, then this is for you. (Image via Stadium Goods)
