Larry Nassar Stabbing A Result Of Nassar Wanting To Watch “Girls” Play Tennis

Convicted rapist and pedophile Larry Nassar tragically remains alive after a prison stabbing earlier this week. Nassar has been in the federal prison system since 2017 after being found guilty of child pornography and sexual assault charges. Nassar had served as a team doctor at Michigan State and for the United States Olympic Team, using his position to conduct a two-decade reign of terror on the young women in his care.

Earlier this week, a fellow prisoner at USP Coleman II reportedly stabbed Nassar ten times. While Nassar’s injuries were reportedly several, it is believed that he is, unfortunately, expected to make a full recovery. It’s not the first time that Nassar has been targeted while in prison. In 2018, Nassar was assaulted “almost immediately” after being transferred to USP Tuscon. Nassar’s earliest release date, including time off for good behavior, is January 2106. If he is ever released from federal prison, he must be transferred to a state prison in Michigan.

Cause Of Nassar Stabbing Revealed

According to an anonymous source, Nassar was stabbed for a very good reason. Shane McMillan, the inmate who reportedly stabbed Nassar, was watching Wimbledon with Nassar. During this, Nassar made “comments about wanting to see girls playing in the Wimbledon women’s match.” McMillian appeared to agree that this was pretty much the worst thing he had ever heard and, quite understandably, proceeded to stab Nassar. As the stabbing occurred in Nassar’s cell, there was no surveillance footage of the incident.

McMillan was originally incarcerated in 2002 for dealing meth in Wyoming. While had been originally scheduled to be released in 2024, he will now be released in 2046 at the earliest. In October 2006, McMillan punched a correctional officer who approached him in the recreation yard at USP Pollock. In November 2011, McMillan and another inmate attempted to kill a prisoner at AMF Florence. These two incidents nearly double McMillan’s original sentence. Furthermore, it is likely that the Nassar stabbing will only add to McMillan’s sentence.

Jimmy Butler Hits Up Wimbledon To Support Top-Seeded Carlos Alcaraz

Earlier this week, NBA superstar Jimmy Butler took to Instagram to talk about tennis. Specifically, Butler wanted to talk about Carlos Alcaraz. Alcaraz is currently the #1 men’s player in the world and widely considered, being just 20 years old, the next generational talent of the sport. Alcaraz won the US Open in 2022. Entering Wimbledon as the top seed, he was the player to hold that honor outside of the “Big Four” since 2003. After Alcaraz’s 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Matteo Berrettini, Butler declared that he would be traveling to London to see Alcaraz in the quarterfinals.

It’s already been a thrilling edition of the penultimate Grand Slam tournament of the year. Fans had to be warned over the weekend not to pop champagne bottles during play. Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic continues his pursuit for a record-tying 24th open-era title, as well as a record-tying fifth consecutive Wimbledon title. Meanwhile, Elina Svitolina, the former world #3 who was as low as #1344 in April, stunned the women’s #1 Iga Świątek. Svitolina will fight for a place in her first Grand Slam final against #42 Markéta Vondroušová. Svitolina previously reached the Wimbledon semifinals in 2019.

Butler Keeps His Promise

True to his word, Butler was in SW19 come Tuesday. While Alcaraz wasn’t due on the court till Wednesday, Butler still took in the sights, sounds, and fans. Furthermore, when Wednesday did roll around, cameras quickly picked out Butler amongst the crowds on center court as Alcaraz took on #6 Holger Rune. It was truly the battle of the young stars, both amongst the golden generation of young tennis stars. Neither player had ever reached the semifinals of Wimbledon before. In fact, neither player had made the quarterfinals before their respective funs in 2023.

After two grueling matches, Alcaraz was able to dispatch his top-ten opponent in straight sets, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, 6-4. That set up a July 14 semifinal against #3 Daniil Medvedev. Medvedev reached the semifinals after ending the Cinderella run of #43 Christopher Eubanks. It is widely expected that Alcaraz will face Djokovic in Sunday’s final. However, Djokovic must first overcome #8 Janik Sinner in the semifinals. It’s unknown whether Butler will be sticking around the rest of the week, but we hope he had a good time.

Fans Get In Trouble For Popping Champagne Corks At Wimbledon

A match at Wimbledon had to be briefly paused on July 9 due to fans popping champagne bottles in the stands. Champagne is a staple of Wimbledon, with over 20,000 bottles drunk each year at the two-week tennis tournament. While official venue rules state that bottles must be opened before fans take their seats, that is not always the case. In 2019, a match between Benoit Paire and Jiri Vesely had to be paused after a champagne cork flew onto the court.

Today’s incident occurred during a match between Anatasia Potapova and Mirra Andreeva. Potapova, ranked 23rd in the world, was the #22 seed at the tournament. Meanwhile, the 16-year-old Andreeva was making her Wimbledon debut. As Potapova prepared to serve, the loud popping of a champagne bottle echoed around Court 3. “Ladies and gentlemen, please, if you are opening a bottle of champagne, don’t do it as the players are about to serve,” requested umpire John Blom. Additionally, Andreeva would go on to upset her fellow Russian. She will face World number 18 Madison Keys in the fourth round.

Celebrities Show Out For Wimbledon

Amongst the game-disrupting champagne corks, plenty of celebrities have been spotted at the All-England Club over the past seven days. Middle Sunday was no different, with plenty of famous faces in attendance. Actress Sienna Miller (Interview, American Sniper) rocked up to Day 7 in a blue-and-white pinstripe suit. Furthermore, fellow actress Nicola Coughlan (Derry Girls, Bridgerton) looked wonderful in a simple white dress and a wicker handbag.

Wimbledon 2023 will be one of the most pivotal editions in history. Novak Djokovic is seeking to equal, or surpass, a whole host of records. With a title in London, Djokovic would equal Roger Federer’s eight career Wimbledon titles. Additionally, he would match the five consecutive Wimbledon titles record held by Federer and Björn Borg. He would also equal Margaret Court’s all-time record of 24 Grand Slam titles. However, he will face stiff competition from #1 seed Carlos Alcaraz.
