Wendy Williams’ “Dire And Scary” Circumstances Worried Documentary Producers, They Admit

Lifetime’s controversial docuseries Where Is Wendy Williams? continues to make waves months after its first episode premiered. Even before it aired, fans raised concern over the beloved former talk show host’s condition, and whether or not it was ethical to put her most vulnerable moments on display. These concerns were only compounded when it was revealed that Williams was diagnosed with dementia and aphasia.

According to executive producer Mark Ford, however, the point was to expose the “dire” conditions she was living in. During a recent panel, Ford opened up about filming, claiming that he and other producers grew increasingly worried. “The deeper we got into it, we didn’t want to let go of Wendy until we got her back in touch with her family,” he explained, according to PEOPLE. “Because we felt that at a certain point that’s who’s going to be there for her to care for her.”

Where Is Wendy Williams? Producers Reflect On Filming

“You could see Erica and Michael towards the end of the documentary, very, very worried and saying to her management, who was the only other person that was coming into her apartment on a daily basis, ‘Something has to be done to help her.’ This is getting very dire and scary,” Ford continued. “And because she was under a guardianship, her family couldn’t just fly up and hang out and decide to get involved in her medical care. They were removed from that process by the courts. So they could face legal ramifications if they tried to get too involved.”

“I just think, in the end, you really see what happens when a guardian has complete control and the family is cut out and they don’t know how she’s being treated medically. And they don’t know what’s happened with her finances,” co-executive producer Erika Hanson also added. Kevin Hunter Threatens To Expose Blac Chyna Amid Wendy Williams Documentary Backlash

It’s no secret that Lifetime’s Where Is Wendy Williams? docuseries has caused a lot of controversy, and recently, her ex-husband decided to hop online to chime in. Kevin Hunter, whose divorce from Williams was finalized in 2020, took to Instagram earlier this week to respond to some of the backlash he’s been receiving since the doc came out. He fired back at critics with full force. Hunter even dragged the beloved former talk show host’s friend Angela White, FKA Blac Chyna, into the mix.

“All of you miserable humans and women on my page are gonna be very mad, but for the smart people… Who understand the plight of: I’m not trying to play victim. Again, I take full accountability [and] a lot of you still don’t know what’s going on, and you still won’t know what’s going on,” he explained.

Kevin Hunter Accuses Wendy Williams’ Celebrity Peers Of “Enabling” Her

Hunter didn’t stop there, however. He went on to accuse Williams’ celebrity peers of enabling her, specifically White. “So I don’t know what the display was for — all of the people who were involved, the celebrities. Half of them were involved in enabling her,” he said. “So, Blac Chyna, you need to go sit down before I air you out and let people know what you really did.” While it remains unclear exactly what Hunter seemingly plans to expose White for, social media users aren’t here for it. Countless commenters are accusing him of taking advantage of his ex, whose dementia and aphasia diagnoses recently became public. Some also suspect he’s just using the documentary debacle for clout.

What do you think of Kevin Hunter’s reaction to Where Is Wendy Williams? Do you think he deserves the backlash he’s receiving online? What about him calling out Blac Chyna? Are you surprised? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Blac Chyna Calls Controversial Wendy Williams Documentary “Necessary”

In February, Lifetime put some of Wendy Williams’ most vulnerable moments on display in their controversial documentary, Where Is Wendy Williams? Almost immediately, the doc sparked a debate among fans. Many accused producers of exploiting the personality, and the reveal of her dementia and aphasia diagnoses only compounded these concerns. Despite legal pushback from her guardian, however, the doc was still released.

One of Williams’ friends to appear in the doc was Angela White, formerly known as Blac Chyna. She had an emotional conversation with Williams about her current state, offering her some words of support. During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, White reflected on her appearance and addressed the backlash the doc received.

Blac Chyna Reflects On Her Where Is Wendy Williams? Appearance

According to White, she’s yet to watch the full doc, but feels as though she’s seen what she needed to. “I’ve seen certain clips and things like that,” she told the outlet. “I’m the type of person if I see more than what I need to see, I’m gonna have to dig and get to the bottom of certain things. And I’m just like, ‘Whatever for me is supposed to be for me.’” White then went on to reveal that she can relate to Williams’ struggle with substance abuse. According to her, the doc has the potential to help others.

“I definitely think that for me, to be honest, I think it was definitely necessary to be made… I feel like… People actually do need to see it ’cause it is happening, and it can really, honestly happen to anybody… Maybe this is gonna help other people to see,” she explained. “To see Wendy, you know, struggling obviously with the alcohol and her substances over the years, you know, it hurts, and it’s like the alcohol part with me, so it’s like I can relate to that.” What do you think of Blac Chyna’s take on Where Is Wendy Williams? Wendy Williams’ Shocking Docuseries Earnings Spark Outrage Amid Exploitation Allegations

Even prior to its release, Lifetime’s new docuseries Where Is Wendy Williams? has been a hot topic of debate. The project documents the beloved personality’s battle with addiction, financial struggles, and more. Early previews sparked concern among fans, who began to grow suspicious that she was being exploited by producers. This speculation was only compounded when days before the release, it was revealed that Williams was diagnosed with dementia and aphasia. Producers have since denied knowing of Williams’ diagnosis during filming.

Now, Williams’ earnings from the docuseries have been revealed, even further fueling outrage. Reportedly, she was paid $400K. While that’s certainly no small chunk of change, some fans think she deserved far more for the project, which put some of her most vulnerable moments on display. Allegedly, the 18-page contract she signed in 2023 with Lifetime’s parent company outlines a payment plan, which would see her earn $100K per episode of the docuseries. She was also reportedly given a daily stipend of $1K to cover hair, makeup, and other grooming costs.

Producers of the doc continue to face scrutiny for their participation in the project, particularly considering some recent revelations about Williams’ financial situation. Earlier this month, for example, it was reported that there was a federal tax lien imposed on her NYC condo. Reports suggest that the icon owes the government $558,451.57 in unpaid taxes. Her ex-husband Kevin Hunter also recently accused Williams’ own sister of taking advantage of her financially.

Allegedly, her sister took roughly $15 million from her while she was undergoing treatment in Florida. What do you think of Where Is Wendy Williams? What about the personality’s reported earnings from the docuseries? Are you surprised? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Wendy Williams’ Guardian Shares New Details Of Her Condition In Unsealed Docuseries Lawsuit

Fans have been up in arms about Lifetime’s new docuseries Where Is Wendy Williams? since before it was even released. Early previews gave viewers an intimate look at some of the personality’s most vulnerable moments. She opened up about her financial struggles, clashed with her staff, and more. It didn’t help that only days before the first episode of the doc came out, it was revealed that Williams was diagnosed with dementia and aphasia in 2023. Of course, this prompted even more suspicion that the icon was exploited by producers, though they deny knowing of her diagnosis before filming.

Last month, Williams’ temporary guardian Sabrina Morrissey filed a lawsuit against Lifetime’s parent company in an attempt to prevent the doc from coming out. Ultimately, her attempt was unsuccessful. Now, however, previously sealed documents from the suit have been unveiled. The docs reveal details of Williams’ current condition, as well as Morrissey’s argument.

Sabrina Morrissey Claims Wendy Williams Needs Daily Supervision

Wendy Williams attends the 50th anniversary celebration of Wilhelmina with co-host Patti Hansen on November 14, 2017 in New York City.

In her suit, Morrissey claimed that Williams wasn’t capable of handling her own business affairs when she signed the contract. She also said Williams couldn’t handle her executive producer role to ensure she was portrayed in a dignified light. According to her, Williams needs constant supervision to “ensure her safety, well-being, and comfort, and to preserve her dignity.”

Morrissey maintains that the docuseries was pitched to her as an uplifting comeback story. She also claims that she believed she’d have an opportunity to watch the final cut before it aired. Obviously, that didn’t happen, and countless fans and peers think producers did the beloved talk show host dirty. What do you think of Where Is Wendy Williams? What about her guardian’s unsealed lawsuit? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

‘Where is Wendy Williams?’ Doc Sets Ratings Record For Lifetime

Was ‘Where is Wendy Williams?’ Exploitative or Just Another Chapter in Williams Saga?

The verdict is in. Lifetime’s Where is Wendy Williams? set a ratings record for the network. As reported by Deadline, here are the numbers … The controversial 2-part documentary averaged “1.2 million total viewers over the two nights in Nielsen Live+3 and 6.2 million total viewers across linear and digital platforms to date.” So what does that mean? People were glued to the screen watching the latest saga in what is shaping to be a somber moment in the legacy of Wendy Williams.

Back to the analytics … Lifetime said, “‘Where is Wendy Williams?’ is Lifetime’s best new non-fiction performance in two years since the Janet Jackson documentary, with total viewers W25-64 and A25-64.” The documentary outdid The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, dropping to No. 2 in L+SD.

Regarding social media, on the night Where is Wendy Williams? The documentary premiered on February 24 and was the top program on television among total social media interactions (Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube), according to Lifetime.

ICYMI, Where is Wendy Williams? aired only days after the former queen of daytime television was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, the same disease that Bruce Willis suffers from. Williams’s guardian even filed a lawsuit against Lifetime parent A+E Networks, seeking “a temporary restraining order to block the network from airing the project.” The ruling by a New York appeals court justice ultimately denied the TRO.

If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s the official description:

Over the course of nearly two years, cameras chronicled the former television host and radio star Wendy Williams on the next phase of her life, following the end of her iconic talk show.  The documentary provides a raw, honest and unfiltered reality of Wendy’s life after she was placed under financial guardianship, shedding light on the vulnerabilities that have turned Wendy into the Hot Topic herself. Suffering mental and physical issues, Wendy’s delicate state of mind, erratic behavior and declining health were all captured by the cameras.

Wendy Williams Was Exploited By Documentary Producers, Publicist Alleges

Last week, the eagerly anticipated docuseries Where Is Wendy Williams? finally arrived. Even before its release, the project had the personality’s fanbase up in arms, as early trailers indicated that it’d showcase her financial concerns, mental health struggles, and more. Just before the series came out, it was also revealed that Williams had been diagnosed with dementia and aphasia. Many argued that it was unethical to document Williams’ less flattering moments out of concern that she was unable to consent.

Now, Williams’ publicist, who appears in the doc, has spoken out. During an exclusive interview with NBC News, Shawn Zanotti shared that she believes Williams was misled about the project and would have never agreed to it had she known how she would be portrayed.

Shawn Zanotti Calls Cap On Where Is Wendy Williams? Producers’ Claims

“I felt that [Williams] was being exploited,” Zanotti described. “She thought we were focusing on the comeback of her career. … She would be mortified. There’s no way you can convince me that she would be OK with looking and seeing herself in that way… That is not the project that [Williams] signed up for. That’s not the project [the producers] brought to me. That’s not what I told her this was going to be about,” she also added. “There were a lot of good moments. None of those good moments were shown.”

Zanotti went on to respond to producers’ claims that they would have approached the project differently had they been aware of Williams’ dementia diagnosis. “I don’t think [the diagnosis] would have stopped them at all. The producers were asking questions throughout the entire time — would ask questions where she would somewhat seem confused, and I feel as though it was done to be intentional at that moment in time to make their storyline,” she explained. “Again, this was presented as a documentary to her, but to me, it looked as though it was a reality show of a circus, a circus to her downfall.” What do you think of Wendy Williams’ publicist Shawn Zanotti claiming that the personality was exploited by producers? “Where Is Wendy Williams?” Never Should Have Aired, Fans Argue

Where Is Wendy Williams? has been stirring up controversy for weeks now, and the first part of the documentary has only ramped things up. It premiered on Lifetime yesterday (February 24), and showcases Williams’ erratic behavior, poor treatment of staff, and more. It also arrived just days after it was revealed that the personality had been diagnosed with aphasia and dementia.

So far, the documentary has gotten mixed reactions from fans. New Wendy Williams Documentary Sparks Concern

This is far from the first time the docuseries raised eyebrows, however. Last week, it was reported that Williams’ guardian Sabrina Morrissey filed a lawsuit in an attempt to block Lifetime from airing it. Additionally, she requested a restraining order. Earlier this month, Williams’ ex Kevin Hunter Sr. also reportedly had some less than positive things to say about it. According to The U.S. Sun, he was shocked to see the trailer, as well as by his son’s involvement in the project.

“Kevin was shocked to see his ex-wife portrayed in such a negative light in the Lifetime trailer. He was also totally blindsided that their son, Kevin Jr, ended up signing onto the project after he initially said he wanted nothing to do with it,” a source told the outlet. Overall, fans agree, with most speculating that the best thing for Williams right now is privacy.

Guardian Of Wendy Williams Seeks To Prevent Controversial Documentary From Airing

Per a report from TMZ, the guardian of Wendy Williams has filed a lawsuit to block Lifetime from airing their Where Is Wendy Williams? documentary this weekend. Sabrina Morrissey has petitioned a judge for a restraining order. If successful, this could prevent the documentary from airing in a two-part format on Saturday and Sunday. This remains a developing story and we’ll have any updates as and when they emerge.

However, fans are confused as to why a white attorney is Williams’ guardian, as opposed to a member of Williams’ family. “Wendy has a son, a brother, a father and a sister that is an attorney. How is this happening, why can’t one of them be her guardian? Who’s advising the son, he’s her next of kin, there has to be some rights he has! Smh, I hate seeing this happen to her. Smh,” one person noted. “Her son needs to fight to be made her guardian. How is this woman I’ll and her guardian is letting her drink entire bottles in her bedroom,” added another.

Meanwhile, Williams has reportedly been in a treatment facility for “cognitive issues” since April 2023, her family has claimed. Additionally, her family has stated that due to a state-mandated conservatorship, it is difficult for them to see the TV icon. “The people who love her cannot see her. I think the big [question] is: How the hell did we get here?” Williams’ sister Wanda said. It is unclear if the move to a treatment facility is part of the family move to Florida that reportedly occurred sometime last year.

This comes, as mentioned, amid the impending release of a controversial Lifetime documentary, Where Is Wendy Williams? Airing later this week, Wanda claims the documentary was originally meant to follow Williams’ triumphant return to television. However, things quickly changed course. The documentary is now expected to give a much more sobering look at Williams’ current state.

Charlamagne Tha God Blasts Wendy Williams Documentary

Charlamagne Tha God has sounded off on the upcoming Wendy Williams documentary. “I don’t why they have the camera’s in that woman’s face. Why y’all want to document someone’s downfall?” Charlamagne asked during today’s episode of The Breakfast Club. Earlier in the day, the first trailer for Where Is Wendy Williams dropped online. The tell-all documentary from the radio and TV legend will air on Lifetime later this month. The first trailer for the two-part show is the first sighting of Williams in over a year after she retired from public view due to ill health. The trailer, linked below, is not exactly easy viewing. Williams drinks and cries as she recounts her long struggle over the past few years.

It’s unclear if this is the documentary that Williams was spotted film in early 2023. The last time Williams was seen in public was at her childhood home in New Jersey as part of a new reality show that was expected to air last fall. However, fall came and went without a release, leaving fans confused and concerned for Williams. Will you be watching Where Is Wendy Williams when it drops on February 24 & 25? Let us know in the comments.

Wendy Williams Relocates To Florida

Furthermore, the news of the documentary comes around a week after news broke concerning Williams’ current location. Radio host and Williams’ long-time friend Miss Jones claimed that Williams had quietly relocated to Florida with her family “several months ago”. Jones revealed that she had attempted a wellness check on Williams, only to be told by employees at Williams’ former building that she was “several months too late”. The moved reportedly coincided with revelations about Williams’ health, as well as the fact that her family were concerned that her team was “taking advantage” of her. Williams’ son claimed that her team were making decisions on the media veteran’s behalf and had even frozen Williams out of her bank accounts.

Responding to the news, many fans offered their well-wishes to Williams. “I’m not wishing anything on anyone. I’m a believer in God, and I believe God can heal Wendy, and restore her. I pray the will of God for her, and I pray for those who surround her as well,” one person said. “Anyone who grew up in NYC listening to Wendy knows that this is truly sad. Kevin destroyed her. I don’t ever see her coming back to broadcasting. So so sad,” added another.
