August Alsina released his new sizzling single, Weekdays, at midnight. The 30-year-old singer is accompanied by fellow hip-hop artists Zu and Deeno, and the result of Weekdays is a hustler’s anthem. Alsina depicts his weekday grind, emphasizing his relentless chase of spending and earning racks. “I blow a bag on Saturday,” he sings, “’cause on Sunday I know it’s comin’.”
Weekdays is Alsina’s second drop of the year, following the release of Myself. His newest single is more upbeat and punchy, whereas his January track omitted a slower-paced reflection. Although it’s been three years since the New Orleans rapper’s last studio album, he’s been gracing fans with frequently released singles over the last two years. In Weekdays, Alsina emphasizes his never-ending weekly hustle. Both Zu and Deeno follow in a similar suit, spitting out about their chase for money and girls.
Alsina Depicts His Relentless Mentality
While Alsina hasn’t been shy to note his rocky upbringing, it’s clear to see that he’s proud of his achievements in music. His fusion of R&B and hip-hop has led Alsina to blend genres vastly, resulting in a diverse resume of songs. His most recognizable hit over the years remains “I Luv This Shit,” featuring Trinidad James, which was released back in 2013. The song also alludes to Alsina’s adoration of his current lifestyle as a musician.
While Weekdays premier on Alsina’s youtube is slowly growing in viewers, this song has the perfect set-up to become the anthem of hard workers in chase of the bag. The release follows an alleged attack from rapper Tory Lanez, which resulted in the dropping of the Canadian rapper’s tour. Regardless of the hardships that Alsina has faced over his life, he remains resilient in producing bangers for his fans. Quotable Lyrics:
I got them racks in on a Sunday,
I get the pack in on a Monday,
I gotta run it up on Tuesday cuz’ on Wednesday I get another
And I wreck the whip on Thursday, but on Friday I get another
And I blow a bag on Saturday cuz’ on Sunday I know it’s comin’
