Juvenile “Flattered” That Kanye West Sampled “Back That Azz Up” For “VULTURES 1”

When it comes to Kanye West, he is going to ruffle somebody’s feathers is some shape or form. He did plenty of that during the rollout of VULTURES 1 which saw its fair share of sample clearing issues. The ones that were the most difficult involved Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharon and Donna Summer’s estate. Additionally, Nicki Minaj and The Backstreet Boys were also not willing to give their blessing to Ye for various reasons. However, there has been one person who wanted to show love back and that is Juvenile.

According to HipHopDX, the New Orleans, Louisiana rapper sat down with TMZ to talk about why he was so chill with giving Ye permission to sample his song. That track is nonother than the classic strip club anthem “Back That Azz Up.” It was sped up for the VULTURES 1 cut “DO IT.” “I give everybody a chance man, and Kanye’s a good dude. He’s actually one of those cats when we released the Juvie, Wacko, and Skip album that showed a whole lot of support.” Juvenile continued, “So it’s one of those situations. I’m kind of flattered that the guy chose me to sample my music. It’s how you look at it.”

Juvenile Says “It’s All Love” With Kanye

Furthermore, he went on to say that the antisemitic issues surrounding the controversial rap mogul were not taken into account. “Nah, not with me. I don’t get into what everybody else get into. I kinda like to stay in my own world and stay out the way.” In the end, it is clear that it is “all love” with Juvenile and that is a good sign for the rap community.

What are your thoughts on Juvenile not having any issues with Kanye West sampling “Back That Azz Up” on VULTURES 1 for “DO IT?” Did you catch the sample when you heard the track? Is it one of the better songs on the record, why or why not? Is the album still in your rotation? Do you think VULTURES 2 will actually drop on March 8? Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign Will Perform “VULTURES 1” In Phoenix: Details

We are just days away from Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign releasing VULTURES 2. If they follow their own schedule, which is a huge “if,” then we should be getting the sequel on Friday March 8. However, there has not been too much to speak of surrounding it outside of Timbaland and French Montana’s updates. So, who really knows if they will live up to their promise and follow through. Especially after they waited until February 10 to give us the inaugural tape. But, we do have some news regarding another “listening event.” Per Ye’s IG Story, VULTURES 1 will be heading to Phoenix, Arizona on March 10.

The album’s creators have performed it for a few different locations already. Just about a week or two ago, the dynamic duo went to Europe, specifically Bologna and Milan, Italy and Paris, France. Of course, VULTURES 1 got its start being played in the U.S. such as Chicago, New York, Miami, and Las Vegas. Now, its Phoenix’s turn as the show might heat up the desert even more.

Kanye & Ty Are Headed To The Desert

It will take place at the Footprint Center, which is where the Phoenix Suns call home. According to HipHopDX, the tickets for the one-night show are available on Ticketmaster. You can find the link to purchase them at the bottom of the page. Furthermore, Ye and Ty will not be done performing this installment just yet. Four days later, March 14, they are heading to Rolling Loud.

What are your thoughts on Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign bringing a VULTURES 1 concert to Phoenix? Will they drop VULTURES 2 this Friday, why or why not? Are you going to attend this show coming up, or going to their Rolling Loud performance? Is the album still in your rotation? Is it the album of the year so far, why or why not? French Montana Shares Behind The Scenes Footage Of Kanye West Working On “Vultures 2”

Last month, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign finally released their long-awaited new album VULTURES 1. The project was originally just supposed to consist of one album but was expanded for a full three-volume experience. Because West has been known to promise projects and never formally deliver before, fans are skeptical that all three promised projects would be released. But they recently got some promising news that Ty and West are, in fact, still hard at work. That came from a video shared by French Montana earlier this week.

“Back to work @tydollasign @ye Vultures 2 coming soon” the caption over the video reads. That video itself is a relatively short clip that really just shows the three in the studio, though the implication is that they’re cooking up some new material. It also doesn’t confirm whether or not Montana is due to appear on the project or is just around for the recording sessions. VULTURES 2 was originally announced for March 8, but with work on the project still seeming very much in progress it’s unclear if they will make that date. Part three of the trilogy was originally announced for an early April release. Check out the video of the trio working on VULTURES 2 below.

French Montana In The Studio With Kanye West And Ty Dolla $ign

French Montana is fresh off the release of a new album of his own. Mac & Cheese 5 dropped earlier this month but was met with backlash from fans. Much of that was because of the numerous releases he shared to streaming platforms in an attempt to generate higher numbers. That culminated in a massive 126-song “Versions” edition of the project that was widely mocked online.

After initial projections of the new album debuting as high as number 3, it ended up debuting at number 14 after its first week. What do you think of French Montana being in the studio with Ty Dolla $ign and Kanye West? Are you hoping that he appears on VULTURES 2 when it comes out? Let us know in the comment section below.

Will Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign’s ‘Vultures 2’ Drop This Week?

Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign may have been spending the past week insisting there’s a conspiracy against them in the recording industry (despite still receiving enough streams for their album, Vultures 1, and its singles that they debuted at No. 1 on Billboard‘s albums chart even challenged Beyoncé for the top Hot 100 spot two weeks in a row), but that may not stop them from continuing to release new projects under the Vultures moniker. Early last week, Timbaland tweeted, “Vulture Vol 2 OTW,” prompting fans to speculate when a second installment of Vultures would be released.

According a since-deleted post from West, March 8 is the expected release date for the album, but before getting too excited, here’s your reminder that the first Vultures was allegedly due for release months ago, but was repeatedly pushed back without notice, eventually dropping on February 10 — but not without issues. The album’s distributor FUGA declared that it was never supposed to be released through FUGA, resulting in the album being pulled from Apple Music, while FUGA works with other platforms to have it removed. Meanwhile, the estate of Donna Summer filed a lawsuit against West for interpolating Summer’s hit song “I Feel Love” on “Good (Don’t Die)” without permission.

So, take the March 8 release date with a grain of salt, as it’s entirely possible the album could get deleted, canceled, or otherwise delayed at the last minute, without warning. Of course, for anyone still waiting for Kanye West albums in 2024, that possibility probably won’t deter them.

Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign Boast “VULTURES 1” Success Without Apple Music Support

Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s VULTURES 1 is still getting plenty of play, despite how streaming platforms were not so quick to promote it. Moreover, Ye published a video on his Instagram Story of his full-length collaborator remarking on how Apple Music never featured them on most of their promotional features on their page for new releases, which they typically do for almost all big releases. Yet “CARNIVAL” with Rich The Kid and Playboi Carti is the highest-charting song on Apple Music right now. Given that the album went No. 1 on Billboard for another week after its release, this consistent commercial success is unsurprising.

However, it’s also important to note that Kanye West is not only one of the biggest artists alive -– and thus needs no promotion to make a splash -– but that the duo devised a promotional strategy of their own. Their Vultures listening parties across the U.S. and Europe netted them heaps of cash and built up the album across a couple of months of hype. In addition, we have Ye’s antisemitic crusade to consider as a massive and sadly unfinished story that boosted this collaboration’s profile. It’s very understandable that streaming services didn’t promote it at every turn, but equally unsurprising is how their notoriety and reach sidestepped that.

Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign Flaunt Their No. 1 Despite Apple Music’s Lack Of Promo

Another factor to consider is that across February, whether or not you could listen to VULTURES 1 depended on which streamer you used and what day you tried to play it. The album disappeared from Spotify and Apple Music multiple times thanks mostly to distribution difficulties, as well as sample clearance issues that already plagued the release. Whether or not you find its commercial success in spite of this to be impressive or a sad reality probably depends on whether you buy into the controversies attached to it. Regardless, Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign fought their way in with loads of fans behind them.

Meanwhile, with two more installments set for release (which we aren’t holding our breath on considering the chaotic launch of the first one) and a Ye solo album facing conflicting reports, who knows what they’ll do in March? VULTURES 2, plus 3 in April, could be better than the first one, or it could be just as divisive. But odds are that whatever long-form effort they drop will still hit big. Donna Summer’s Estate Has Reportedly Sued Kanye West For Interpolating One Of Her Songs, Despite Denying Permission

Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign‘s Vultures 1 collab album may be a hit among fans, but the album has not arrived without its controversies. Today (February 27), Billboard reports that Donna Summer’s estate has filed a lawsuit against West for interpolating Summer’s hit song “I Feel Love” on the Vultures 1 track “Good (Don’t Die).”

According to the lawsuit, West requested permission to sample the song, but was denied by the estate. West then rerecorded portions of “I Feel Love” to use on “Good (Don’t Die).”

“Summer’s estate … wanted no association with West’s controversial history and specifically rejected West’s proposed use,” attorneys for the estate wrote. “In the face of this rejection, defendants arrogantly and unilaterally decided they would simply steal ‘I Feel Love’ and use it without permission.”

The song has since been removed from streaming platforms, however, Summer’s estate is continuing to pursue legal action, as the song has already garnered many streams.

“This lawsuit is about more than Defendants’ mere failure to pay the appropriate licensing fee for using another’s musical property,” the estate’s lawyers wrote. “It is also about the rights of artists to decide how their works are used and presented to the public, and the need to prevent anyone from simply stealing creative works when they cannot secure the right to use them legally.”

Though the portions West used were re-recorded, Summer’s attorneys maintain that West copied the song, as the tunes sound too much alike,

“When listening to both songs, any average listener can immediately hear the distinctive similar melody and compositional elements present in both songs, which sound so identical that it appears Defendants may have gone so far as sampling the original master recording of Summer,” the attorneys wrote.

At the time of writing, neither West nor Ty Dolla Sign have directly commented on the matter.

Ty Dolla Sign Reacts To “Vultures” Keeping No. 1 Spot For Another Week

While a lot of conversation and acclaim around Vultures surrounds Kanye West, Ty Dolla $ign is just as important -– if not more -– to the album’s quality. Moreover, the project just cemented itself as the number one album on the Billboard 200 albums chart in the U.S. for another week following its chart-topping debut. It narrowly beat out another big album, Yeat’s 2093, for the top spot, and all artists have plenty of reason to celebrate. In fact, Ty recently took to Twitter on Sunday (February 25) to celebrate this accolade with a selfie holding up a single finger. “Not the 2,” he captioned his pic.

Furthermore, Ty Dolla Sign’s been enjoying a lot of success as a result of his collaborative album with Kanye West. His numbers are greater than they’ve ever been, and more importantly, many folks finally gave him the full-length flowers that were usually reserved to guest appearances. Regardless, the Los Angeles native hasn’t escaped a lot of the controversy behind Vultures, although most of that falls on Ye’s antisemitism, career relationships, and far-right ties. Despite the context around his success, he made this choice, and it hasn’t stopped even ardent Kanye critics from praising his contributions.

Ty Dolla Sign Reacts To Vultures‘ Second Week At No. 1

While it’s a matter of personal preference, there’s a strong argument for Ty Dolla Sign being the most consistently compelling and skillful part of Vultures. Future installments (which Timbaland says are on the way) might reflect this too, or perhaps Kanye West will step things up a notch. Either way, there’s a lot of excitement for this project’s future, which is supposed to bring Vultures 2 next week if initial teases are to be believed. It’s a Ye rollout, so we aren’t holding our breath.

Whether or not these future installments land on streaming services (and face removal again), the “Blasé” creative made his mark. As one of the most commercially successful independent albums ever, Vultures is a feat regardless of your take on its quality and its Chicago creator’s behavior. Let’s see what they follow it up with. For more news and the latest updates on Ty Dolla Sign and Vultures, check back in with HNHH.

Playboi Carti’s New Mask For “VULTURES 1” Paris Listening Party Draws Slipknot Comparisons

One of the odd things about the rollout for Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s VULTURES rollout has been the theme of wearing masks. Ye is the one leading the charge in all of this as he was first spotted wearing an all-black cover. It featured a see-through area for his eyes and it must have been fairly breathable because of how often he wore it in public. Then, he went full Jason Voorhees with the famous white hockey mask. Playboi Carti is now doing the same as he was seen wearing a mask resembling the iconic heavy metal band Slipknot.

This extravagant piece was worn for the latest VULTURES 1 listening party in Paris this past weekend. Chris Fehn was the member of the band who popularized the “Pinocchio nose” headgear. He is now a former bandmate, but his iconic look still lives on. Plenty of those comparisons were made in the video below as Playboi Carti went with a black leather look compared to Fehn’s silver one.

Some fans respected the choice, while others made the obvious but still funny jokes to the fictional character. However, a few people were a little annoyed with Carti trying to be something he is not. “Bro thinks his genre is rock,” “Getting more corny by the day,” were just a few of those type of remarks. One person even went as far as to say that he wore that mask because “he lied ab dropping music too much.” That last one is true though, where is Music!?

What are your thoughts on Playboi Carti’s new mask for the Paris listening party for VULTURES 1? Is this the better face covering, why or why not? Do you think Kanye West inspired him to wear masks for the performances? Is the album still in your rotation and if so what songs? Kanye West performed his 2011 hit single, “N****s In Paris,” during a Vultures concert in the French city, earlier this week. A clip of the moment has been circulating on social media in the time since.

When 2Cool2Blog posted the video on Instagram, fans had plenty of praise for Ye. “kanye like boobby shmurda …. yahll wanna play games in the states… imma take my talents overseas,” one fan responded. Another remarked: “To all artists he’s showing you the way that y’all still don’t follow him that’s sad.”

West and JAY-Z dropped “N****s In Paris” with the rest of their collaborative album, Watch the Throne, back in 2011. The song has since reached Diamond certification from the RIAA, marking over 10 million sales. Speaking with XXL at the time, Ye revealed that a trip to Paris inspired him to make the song. “I am where art meets commercial,” he said. “The sweet spot between the hood and Hollywood. Having a conversation with Karl Lagerfeld and Jay-Z within the same hour. When we’re in Paris dressing all crazy at fashion shows, we listening to Jay-Z. Jeezy in Paris, that’s what it is.” Check out the clip of West performing the song in Paris below.

“Vultures” Beats Yeat’s “2093” For No. 1, Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign Get Second Week On Top

The Billboard 200 albums chart dated March 2 might go down as one of the most competitive of 2024 when it comes to its two top spots. Despite previous reports, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s collaborative album Vultures 1 ended up beating out Yeat’s 2093 for the number one spot. Moreover, Vultures spends its second week atop the charts with around 75,000 equivalent album units in its second week in the U.S., according to Billboard themselves and Luminate, an independent data provider. On the other hand, 2093 debuts at the No. 2 spot with around 70,000 album equivalent units, which is the California native’s best-performing week yet on the chart.

As for 2093, this album had a couple of versions come out which contributed to this chart performance. First, the project’s core edition released on Friday, February 16, with 22 songs and a whole lot of praise from casuals and die-hards alike. Then, Yeat dropped two new songs for it the following day, these being “As We Speak” with Drake and “Never quit.” Finally, on February 21, he dropped a version of the LP with four additional tracks exclusively on his website.

Vultures & 2093 Lead The Billboard 200 This Week

Meanwhile, Vultures has been through so many changes, alterations, and cycles that it’s hard to tell what it’s current status is. The good news for fans is that it’s back on Apple Music after briefly disappearing on Saturday (February 24). However, as of writing this article, there are two versions of the project available: one with a capitalized title and one with an uncapitalized title. It’s been really bizarre to witness all these removals, disputes, and of course all the controversial content behind Ye’s rollout antics and statements.

In fact, there’s a Vultures cut that isn’t on Apple Music, but returned to Spotify after it was removed from both streamers for unrightfully sampling Donna Summer. But all that aside, and no matter what you think of these Billboard placements, these are still great achievements to celebrate. The “Breathe” MC had his best commercial performance yet, and the “BURN” duo continue to make this one of the most commercially successful independent releases ever. For more news and the latest updates on Kanye West, Ty Dolla Sign, and Yeat, come back to HNHH.
