The Rise of Video Game Streaming: How It’s Changing The Gaming Industry

Video game streaming has rapidly become one of the most popular forms of entertainment in recent years. With millions of people around the world tuning in to watch their favorite gamers, it has become a staple in the culture that is rapidly changing the gaming industry as we know it. In this article, we will explore the rise of video game streaming, how it is changing the gaming industry, and what the future of video game streaming might look like.

What Is Video Game Streaming?

Video game streaming is the act of broadcasting oneself playing a video game to an audience in real time. Streamers use Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook Gaming to showcase their gameplay to millions of viewers around the world. Online gaming and the growth of social media in the past decade have driven the growing popularity of online gaming.

The Impact Of Video Game Streaming On The Gaming Industry

The rise of video game streaming has had a profound impact on the gaming industry. One of the most significant changes has been the way that developers market and sell games. In the past, gamers would typically buy games based on reviews, word-of-mouth recommendations, and marketing materials such as trailers and advertisements. Today, however, many gamers are discovering games through video game streaming. Watching someone else play provides a much better idea of the gameplay, more so than any trailer or advertisement. In that sense, streaming benefited the rise of indie games. The developers behind indie games typically have little marketing leeway. However, streaming turned into the best option to get the word out there.

The rise of esports has also played a role in video game streaming. Esports transformed gaming into a competitive sport, in a sense, often in organized tournaments with cash prizes. The popularity of esports has led to an increase in the number of professional gamers, as well as the development of dedicated leagues and tournaments. Today, many professional gamers earn a living through a combination of prize money, sponsorships, and streaming revenue.

The Future Of Video Game Streaming

If video games remain the preferred digital leisure activity of young people, with 95% of 10-17 year olds playing them, the practice concerns more than 37 million French people, 53% even declaring that they play them “at least once a week”, according to the Syndicat des editeurs de logiciels de loisirs (Leisure software editors union)(Sell). So, what does the future of video game streaming look like? There are several trends that are likely to shape the future of this industry. One trend is the continued growth of mobile gaming. More people are playing games on their phones as they’re not only accessible but also, a great way to kill time. Much like Twitch, mobile-specific streaming platforms, such as Omlet Arcade and Loco, allow gamers to stream their mobile gameplay to a global audience.

The rise of virtual reality (VR) gaming is another trend to look out for. VR gaming allows players to immerse themselves in a virtual world in what feels like the next step in the evolution of gaming. Streaming could play a significant role in the growth of VR gaming, especially as gamers showcase their gameplay to a wider audience.

New Revenue Streams

Streaming has opened up new revenue streams for the gaming industry. Game sales are still a major source of income. However, the average gamer is now turning to platforms like Twitch and YouTube to explore their favorite video games. As a result, game developers and publishers are now more interested in collaborating with popular streamers to promote their games. This has led to a new type of partnership between streamers and game companies. Some streamers receive early access to games or exclusive in-game items in exchange for promotional purposes.

Increased Competition

Streamers are now able to build their own communities and followings, which has given them more power and influence in the industry. However, streamers often become authoritative voices. Not due to their knowledge, necessarily but because they are the most watched. This has led to a shift in the balance of power, especially since streamers sometimes have more influence over game sales than traditional advertising methods.

Changes In The Video Game Industry

Developers now tend to design games with streaming in mind. Features like spectator modes and easy-to-use streaming tools have grown in prominence. Even software and hardware for streaming are heavily on the rise. Developers are also paying more attention to how their games will look and play on stream. There’s no doubt that this can have a big impact on how popular a game becomes.

Video Game Marketing

While traditional marketing methods like television ads and billboards are still important, there’s a major focus on social media and streaming platforms. New ventures and initiatives have launched as gaming companies collaborate with popular streamers to introduce their product to a wider audience.

User-generated content is also impacting the industry in a major way. Popular streamers and influencers are gaining significant traction through streaming and YouTube gaming channels which allow them to create and share their own gameplay videos and content. It’s not uncommon for companies to encourage their customers to use hashtag-driven gameplay clips on social media, which, in turn, creates a sense of community among fans. Ultimately, this helps build loyal following and generate organic buzz.

Why Is Understanding The Video Game Industry So Important?

As streaming continues to grow in popularity, it’s clear that it will continue to shape the industry. From new revenue streams to changes in game design, streaming is changing the way we think about gaming. While it’s impossible to predict where this trend will take us, one thing is clear: video game streaming is here to stay.

Lil Yachty Becomes Playable Character In NBA 2K23

Lil Yachty is having a lot of success right now. His most recent album Let’s Start Here featured him going in a brand-new psychedelic rock direction. Overall, this was a huge risk for the artist. However, it ultimately paid off as many fans have called this his best work yet. Now, Yachty is going to be taking to the main stage of various festivals this year. He is expected to perform this new album, and the live show is likely going to be a whole lot of fun. Needless to say, Yachty is winning at life.

Now, he is going to be getting a new honor that many rappers before him have received. Yes, that is right, Lil Yachty is going to be a playable character in NBA 2K23. This is something that has certainly been done before. The likes of Lil Durk and J. Cole have also gotten their own characters. Furthermore, Lil Wayne was even bestowed this honor. That is not to say this is not a special thing to have happened to the artist. Overall, it is a testament to Yachty’s fame.

Lil Yachty x NBA 2K

In the images above, you can see Yachty’s character model through MyTeam. If you want to play as him, you will have to beat his Spotlight Challenge which will subsequently earn you his card. As for the look of his character, he has his signature beads in his braids. Moreover, it seems as though he wearing a pair of Air Jordan 1s. He even has the number 21 for good measure. Whether or not people will gravitate toward his character model, remains to be seen. After all, there are a ton of rappers to choose from within the game at this point.

Hopefully, we continue to see artists like Lil Yachty in the game. In a few months’ time, NBA 2K24 will be dropping, and we can only imagine what some of the plans are for that release. Let us know if you will be playing as Yachty in the game, in the comments below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world.

The Art of Creating Memorable Video Game Characters

In the world of video games, certain characters stick with us long after we’ve finished playing the game. Characters like Mario, Lara Croft, Master Chief, and Kratos have become household names and icons of the gaming industry. These characters are so beloved and memorable because they were carefully crafted by their creators to be unique, engaging, and relatable. We’ll explore the art of creating memorable video game characters and the key factors that make them successful.

What Makes A Good Character?

When it comes to video games, many elements contribute to a game’s success. Everything must work together seamlessly, from the story and gameplay to the graphics and sound design, to create an enjoyable and engaging experience. However, one of the essential elements that can make or break a game is the characters. They are the driving force behind any story and are often why players become invested in a game. When players feel connected to a character, they are more likely to continue playing and become loyal fans of the franchise.

The Importance Of Character Design

One of the first steps in creating a memorable video game character is designing their appearance. The design of a character can impact how they are perceived by players. For example, a character with a unique and eye-catching design can stand out in a crowded market and become instantly recognizable. On the other hand, a poorly designed character can turn players off and hinder the success of a game. A good character design should be visually appealing and reflect the character’s personality and backstory.

For example, Lara Croft’s iconic outfit and weapons reflect her adventurous and daring personality, while Master Chief’s armor and helmet represent his stoic and no-nonsense attitude. The design should also be practical and functional within the context of the game’s world. A character that looks great but is difficult to control or interact with can ruin the player’s experience.

Creating Compelling Backstories

A character’s backstory is another crucial element in making them memorable. A well-crafted backstory can give players insight into the character’s motivations, fears, and desires. It can also create a sense of empathy and connection between the player and the character. A character with a relatable backstory can make players feel invested in their journey and eager to see how their story unfolds. When creating a character’s backstory, keeping it consistent with the game’s overall narrative is essential. The backstory should also be revealed gradually throughout the game. This allows the player to become invested in the character’s story and encourages them to keep playing to learn more.

Developing Strong Personalities

In addition to appearance and backstory, a character’s personality is another crucial element in making them memorable. A character’s personality can be conveyed through dialogue and actions with other characters. A well-written and fleshed-out personality can make a character feel like a real person, with their own quirks, flaws, and strengths. When developing a character’s personality, it’s essential to make them relatable to players. Players should be able to see themselves in the character and understand their motivations and actions. A character with a one-dimensional or cliché personality can come off as boring or uninteresting. In contrast, a complex and multi-faceted personality can make them feel more genuine and engaging.

Creating Characters That Evolve

Finally, a memorable video game character evolves. As the game’s story progresses, the character should change and grow, facing new challenges and overcoming obstacles. This evolution can create a sense of investment and attachment in the player as they see the character they’ve come to know and love become stronger and more capable. However, it’s essential that your video game characters commit to the iconic nature they started with. For example, if your character is cartoonish and lighthearted, changing themes midway through could compromise that look. Additionally, doing that could jar the audience. The essence of good writing and character design is moving forward with development while remaining consistent with a theme.

Iconic Memorability

In addition to a strong backstory, a character’s design can greatly influence memorability. Video game characters with unique and distinctive designs are often more memorable than generic or bland designs. For example, the character of Kratos from the God of War series is instantly recognizable with his red tattoos, ash-white skin, and iconic Blades of Chaos. Similarly, Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider series is known for her distinctive outfit and dual pistols. Moreover, the character’s appearance should be tied to their personality and backstory. This helps to make the character feel more cohesive and consistent. For instance, the design of Bayonetta, a character from the eponymous game, reflects her confident and seductive personality.

Voice & Dialogue

In addition to appearance and backstory, a character’s voice and dialogue are also critical in making them memorable. The voice actor’s performance can make or break a character’s impact on players. For example, Mark Hamill’s portrayal of the Joker in the Batman: Arkham series is one of the best depictions. His voice and performance perfectly capture the Joker’s maniacal and unpredictable nature. Moreover, well-written dialogue can further enhance a character’s memorability. Characters with unique and memorable catchphrases or one-liners can leave a lasting impression on players. For instance, the character GLaDOS from the Portal series is known for her sarcastic and dark humor. Her iconic lines bring out her personality with some shine for the audience.

Interactivity & Gameplay

Lastly, a character’s interactivity and gameplay mechanics can also affect their memorability. Characters that offer unique and satisfying gameplay experiences can become fan favorites. One example is the case of Sonic the Hedgehog. He’s a fast hedgehog, and his games, as you could guess, are about speed. His design is simple, easy to look at, and, overall, agile.

Another example is video game characters like Kirby. He is known for his ability to absorb enemies and gain their powers, which adds a layer of strategy and excitement to gameplay. Moreover, how a character interacts with the game world can also impact their memorability. Characters that offer a sense of agency and freedom to players can be more memorable than those more limited in their actions.

What Makes Good Video Game Characters?

In conclusion, creating a memorable video game character requires careful consideration of various factors, including backstory, appearance, voice and dialogue, and interactivity. A memorable character can significantly enhance a player’s experience and leave a lasting impression on them. With the video game industry continually growing and evolving, this is more important than ever. Developers must create characters that stand out in a crowded market to sell good games. By taking the time to develop characters that are unique, relatable, and engaging, developers can create experiences that resonate with players long after the game is over.

“The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom” Gets Final Trailer

The Legend Of Zelda is easily one of the greatest video game franchises ever. Over the decades, this franchise has released countless games on various Nintendo platforms. Gamers of all ages appreciate the series, and overall, some would argue that Link is one of the most iconic characters ever. Consequently, Nintendo is always looking to have new games developed. The previous Legend Of Zelda game, Breath Of The Wild, was one of the biggest successes of the series. Now, they are following that up with Tears Of The Kingdom.

Considering how good the last game is, it is going to be very difficult for Nintendo to appease everyone and their expectations. As we know, gamers can be very difficult people. One just has to go on YouTube and Twitter to understand what we mean. However, in various trailers, the new Legend Of Zelda game has looked absolutely fantastic. In fact, today, Nintendo launched the final pre-launch trailer for the game. As you can see below, this is the kind of trailer that will drum up the hype.

A New “The Legend Of Zelda” Game

The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom appears to have an epic storyline. The map of the game is going to be expansive, and we can just imagine some of the gameplay improvements that will be made. Much of Breath Of The Wild’s success came from the fact that it was open world. Consequently, Nintendo has taken note, and we should see some of those same elements in the new game. Overall, there seems to be a lot here for gamers, especially those who are longtime fans of the series. Whether or not it lives up to the hype, remains to be seen.

Additionally, it should be noted that this game is set to be released on May 12th through the Nintendo Switch. If you want to get your hands on it, then you can pre-order it through the Nintendo web store, or through your local GameStop. Let us know what you think of this new trailer, in the comments section below. Moreover, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the tech world.

Radio Stations in GTA V We want in GTA 6

The Grand Theft Auto songs from the radio stations are just as essential as the gameplay. Listening to the radio stations is one of the best parts of GTA V. Players have a wide variety of stations to choose from with multiple music genres. One of the fascinating aspects of these stations was the DJs that hosted them. These ranged from cemented legends like Bootsy Collins and Pam Grier to modern legends like Frank Ocean. Since the game has been out so long, they even added a new station with popular songs from this current time. Since talking about GTA 6 is something players will do until it is fully revealed, we’ve gathered some of our favorite stations we want to see in the upcoming game.

Space 103.2

We want to see songs from this station in GTA 6 because sometimes you need to appreciate the old school. Bootsy Collins hosts this one and does an excellent job at it. We welcome his iconic voice and catchphrases when we hear them between songs. This station is home to funk songs of the ’70s and early ’80s. Additionally, Bootsy’s classic hit “I’d Rather Be With You” is on this station but there are other great funk songs too. These include “Flash Light” by Parliament and “Back and Forth” by Cameo. However, these songs are usually more celebrated by a generation ahead of most GTA players, but they still sound good. We think this station should return because while GTA Online is a warzone, you can still find time to dance while speeding around.

The Lowdown 91.1

Once again, songs from this station being in GTA 6 help us appreciate the old school. Host Pam Grier is an iconic actress from the ’70s until today, and naturally, she plays music from decades ago. These songs are all soul, and many of the artists are groups with “The” in their names. Hearing artists that sound like weekend cleaning music we grew up on is a significant contrast to the antics of GTA, but it works. Pam Grier’s cool and clever rhymes match the station’s atmosphere well. Furthermore, her DJ name is “Mama G,” which, again, fits the theme of the station perfectly. Those who appreciate soulful samples might find some on this station they recognize.

iFruit Radio

We would like to see songs from this station in GTA 6 because it gives us modern music. Other stations have multiple songs from the 2010s, and forward; however, this one was different. When they added it to the game in 2019, it had songs that were playing on radios in real life that day. These included chart-toppers like “Hot (Remix)” by Young Thug feat. Gunna and Travis Scott, and “Cash Sh*t” by Megan Thee Stallion feat. DaBaby. Danny Brown and Skepta hosted this station, and Danny brought his signature laugh and humor with him. For some players, GTA is enjoyed separately from the real world. However, sometimes we want a slight overlap. With a station like this in GTA 6, we can hear our favorite big hits of the time.

Blonded Los Santos 97.8

We may not get songs for this station exactly in GTA 6, but we should get some sort of equivalent. Frank Ocean hosts this station as himself, along with Vegyn, Roof Access, and Fed. Frank Ocean’s Blonde album was released in 2016. They added this station to the game in 2017. Naturally, there are several songs from his discography on this station, including tracks from Blonde. With Frank being the music lover he is, there is a wide range of music on this station. Artists played ranged from Jay-Z to Lil Uzi Vert to Marvin Gaye. With Frank’s reclusive behavior, it’s not likely he’ll return for a station like this. However, getting a station from someone as unique as him would be interesting. Perhaps Donald Glover or LaKeith Stanfield?

West Coast Classics

This is a station we want songs from in GTA 6. However, we may not get it. The game is rumored to take place in a Miami-esque location that is not West Coast-based like Los Santos. However, the game is also rumored to have multiple locations, so we’ll just have to wait and see. This station is home to classics from the ’90s West Coast rap era. Hosted by DJ Pooh, there are classics from Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, N.W.A and more. In GTA Online, you can get a supercar just as quickly as a lowrider. You’ll probably enjoy riding around listening to this station more in the latter.

The Lab

This station would have a lot of songs to choose from in GTA 6. It is hosted by The Alchemist and Oh No, whose DJ personas are Chemical Bro and Dr. No. It plays songs from their collab album The Alchemist and Oh No Present: Welcome to Los Santos. Furthermore, these are the only songs it plays. However, this station still has range, including Little Dragon, Ab-Soul, Samuel T. Herring, and more.

They added this station to the game in 2015, and The Alchemist has released much music since then. An updated version could include songs he’s produced for Boldy James, Conway The Machine, and Larry June. Furthermore, these artists mention various situations involving cars in their music all the time. It’s only right they include them in GTA 6.

Radio Los Santos

We know the songs on this station will be under a different name in GTA 6. For one, the game doesn’t take place in Los Santos. Its host, the real-life DJ Big Boy, is also a staple in west coast radio. GTA 6 takes place on the east coast…allegedly. GTA V was initially released in 2013, and many songs on the station were released that year, too. For players, this made the game feel like it was truly happening in the present time. Having the same concept in GTA 6 would be a great move. Further, an even better one would be to have an east coast DJ host it. Maybe Funkmaster Flex? We think hearing his bombs while throwing bombs at enemies in the game would pair nicely.

What stations do you want to see return in some way in GTA 6? Let us know in the comments section.

Video Game Characters That Deserve Their Own Movies

While superhero movies may be slowing down, video game movies and adaptations appear to be heating up. Sonic the Hedgehog, The Last of Us, Tetris, Uncharted, Mortal Kombat, and many more have come out in recent years. Most of them have been major hits with fans, critics, and sometimes both.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie just came out and has already smashed records in one weekend. It’s projected to become the highest-grossing video game movie of all time by a wide margin. It also feels like an event in time. People may not have realized what Iron Man would kickstart in 2008, but it certainly feels like this is the precipice of a new MCU- the Mario Cinematic Universe. It’s clear that video game movies and projects are all the rage right now. With a vast library of video games to pull from, which characters need to get their own movies?

Video Game Movies Need Characters Like Pac-Man & Samus

video game movies
Retro Video Arcade Game

While Pac-Man was a part of the movie Pixels, the character needs its own video game adaptation. Pac-Man may not seem like a good game to adapt to the big screen, but studios have found a way to bring Sonic and Tetris to the theaters somehow, so Pac-Man can be done, too. Pac-Man has been around a long time and is a staple of gaming. It’s high time it was brought into some legitimate video game adaptation.

There were rumors of a Metroid project and that Brie Larson would star as Samus Aran, but there’s no official confirmation. The fact that one of the most iconic video game protagonists and a leading lady hasn’t even been considered for a major motion picture is a bit surprising. She may get lost in the shuffle with Nintendo’s vast library of characters. However, as more characters adapt, there’s no reason to ignore the Metroid franchise.

The Lack of Legend of Zelda Video Game Movies Is Unbelievable

SAN DIEGO, CA – JULY 21: Chris Evans playing The Legend of Zelda 3D at Nintendo’s Arts & Cinema Centre while at Comic Con promoting “Captain America” on July 21, 2011 in San Diego, California. (Photo by Todd Williamson/WireImage)

The fact that no one has ever tried to make a Legend of Zelda movie is a huge surprise. Studios made a live-action Mario movie in the 1990s, and it was awful. Yet, a movie set in Hyrule can’t be done? There’s never even been a legitimate rumor about a project in development, either.

Zelda is one of the video game franchises that could easily be live-action or animated. If they want to build a Nintendo universe, it could be animated. Either way, Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, and others could and should be adapted sooner rather than later. It’s also a video game franchise with a few clear storylines. That alone makes adapting video game movies for this franchise much easier than others. It has recognizable characters that could easily become some of the best video game movie characters.

A GTA Movie Would Be Pretty Easy to Make

BRAZIL – 2021/10/06: In this photo illustration the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) logo seen displayed on a smartphone. (Photo Illustration by Rafael Henrique/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images)

Video game movies don’t have to be fun, colorful, and intended for kids. Tons of video games are definitively not for children. The Last of Us may be the best video game adaptation of all time, and it is not for a young audience. Any rated M game could follow in its footsteps now.

For this reason, a GTA movie based around CJ or one of the other characters would be excellent. It would easily be the most morally complex video game movie and draw a major audience. There is plenty of games’ worth of stories to draw from, too.

Arthur Morgan Would Be An Excellent Protagonist

PARIS, FRANCE – JANUARY 09: In this photo illustration a gamer plays the video game ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ (RDR 2) on January 9, 2019 in Paris, France. Red Dead Redemption 2, typographed Red Dead Redemption II is an action-adventure and multi-platform western video game developed by Rockstar Studios and published by Rockstar Games released on October 26, 2018. In the UK, ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ has been number 1 in sales for the past two weeks and has been designated the 2018 Christmas Game. (Photo Illustration by Chesnot/Getty Images)

Red Dead Redemption would be an excellent video game project, primarily due to Arthur Morgan. He’s one of the best video game protagonists ever, and both games have devoted fan bases. He was a relatively morally good character in a time and setting with few. That alone makes for a good story.

They’re also relatively plot-based. An old Western movie centered on Arthur Morgan and the world of RDR would be easy enough to pull off. There are enough side characters to justify a movie, too. The setting would be one of the most exciting parts, as well.

If They’re Building A Nintendo Universe, Kirby Must Be Included

Whether or not Nintendo intends to bring its properties together on-screen as they have with the Super Mario Bros. franchise remains to be seen. However, if they bring Zelda in and continue with Mario, they must consider Kirby. Undoubtedly, Kirby is one of the most beloved and fun characters in their library. He exists in a fun world that would make for excellent viewing- much like the Mushroom Kingdom did for The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Bright, pink, and colorful would make a good animated film.

Isabelle And Tom Nook Need A Film

(Photo by Behrouz MEHRI / AFP) (Photo by BEHROUZ MEHRI/AFP via Getty Images)

There would be plenty to choose from in making an Animal Crossing movie, but two of the most consistent and iconic characters should lead it: Tom Nook and Isabelle. They run the towns that players live in, and everyone knows who they are and what they do. Animal Crossing is a life simulator, so the possibilities for a movie are endless. These villagers and characters just live life, which often makes for the best movies. A slice-of-life film with animal protagonists could be something like Zootopia, which was a hit.

A Fortnite Film Is All But Promised

Travis Scott + Cactus Jack have partnered with Fortnite to produce Astronomical, a one of a kind in-game experiential performance and the world premiere of a new song. (Photo by Neilson Barnard/Getty Images)

The Fortnite storyline is very loose and held together by threads, but it is there. That alone makes a movie pretty likely. Plus, it’s one of the most popular video games in recent memory, so it would be like printing money. Since it debuted in 2017, it’s exploded onto the scene, and people would flock to the movie.

Jonesy is perhaps the most popular skin and could easily be the protagonist. There are storyline aspects and lore to tap into that could make for a genuinely interesting movie. There are also countless characters to bring in, though some of the crossovers would be interesting from a legal standpoint.

Make The CoD Zombies Movie Now

The Call of Duty zombies storyline is fascinating, but there’s not a lot of information there. There are connections, but a lot of it is decided by fan theories. Making a movie helmed by Edward Richtofen himself would be so good. Finally, explaining it all would be reason enough for gamers to get into the theater on opening night.

As flimsy as it is, the storyline that did exist is fascinating, and there’s a lot to explore there. Plus, with precious few details, the creative license for a director would be an enticing advantage. If this movie doesn’t get made, many gamers will be upset.

A Real Pokémon Video Game Movies Franchise With Ash Ketchum

Pokemon, popular game characters of Japanese video game giant Nintendo are displayed at a shop in Tokyo, 25 July 2007. Nintendo said its net profit soared more than five-fold in the fiscal first quarter as its breakthrough Wii console and handheld machines flew off the shelves. AFP PHOTO / Yoshikazu TSUNO (Photo credit should read YOSHIKAZU TSUNO/AFP via Getty Images)

The Detective Pikachu movie is good. It’s a lot of fun, and the CGI on the actual Pokémon is incredible. However, it’s more of a people movie in a world with Pokémon. A Pokémon movie needs to follow Ash Ketchum, though he wasn’t technically in any games.

Nevertheless, there’s plenty of story and lore to tap into and a whole world of possibilities. This, too, could be a part of the Nintendo Universe if that’s the road they opt to go down. As it stands, the Detective Pikachu franchise couldn’t overlap with The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Lil Durk Becomes Playable Character In “NBA 2K23”

Lil Durk is an incredible basketball player. Although Durk is mostly known for his work in the hip-hop world, you cannot deny how well he can play basketball. For those who are not aware, Durk has been showcasing his basketball skills quite a bit over the years. Overall, he is mostly known as a shooter who can knock down threes like no one’s business. After all, he has a bit of a smaller frame which makes it difficult for him to actually attack the rim. Instead, he has to focus on getting his shot to the point where he can score from anywhere.

If you have been paying attention to the video game world as of late, you have probably noticed how a lot of rappers are getting into NBA 2K23. For instance, Jack Harlow and J. Cole have become characters in the game. Moreover, Lil Wayne recently became a playable character. Overall, this is great news for fans of basketball and hip-hop. This is because it ultimately allows a crossover of cultures. Additionally, it demonstrates how the creators of 2K appreciate the genre.

Lil Durk In 2K

Subsequently, Durk is also going to be a character in the game. Yes, that is correct, you will now be able to play as the Chicago artist in the latest iteration of 2K. As they showcase in the video above, this will be part of MyTEAM. Furthermore, Durk will be wearing the number 3 and even sports a pair of Air Jordan 3s. If you complete his spotlight challenge, you will be able to unlock his card. From there, you can add him to your team and play as him. It’s a cool addition that we are sure he is excited about.

This crossover between 2K and hip-hop will not be stopping anytime soon. With NBA 2K24 expected later this year, we’re sure they have plenty of other activations planned for people to enjoy. That said, let us know what you think of Durk’s inclusion in the game, in the comments below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news and updates from the sports, music, and gaming worlds.

Top 10 Video Game Characters

Video game characters have been a part of our lives for decades. As time has progressed, they’ve become more and more detailed because of gaming consoles’ graphic capabilities. Some have faded with time and others have been around for the long run and will probably never leave. We’ve seen them on screens of various sizes or memorized what they look like to buy a game for a loved one. We may have even dressed up as one for one reason or another. Depending on someone’s age, a character’s iconic status may differ. However, there are a few I think we can all agree deserve their flowers and the hype they have. Here are ten of the most iconic and recognizable video game characters over the last three decades.

#10: Lara Croft

The Tomb Raider games are classics and the franchise has definitely progressed as the years have gone on. Lara Croft is the first video game character many of us saw brought into the live action world. Her look on the PlayStation 1 games is iconic and somewhat of a meme but the legacy began there. Angelina Jolie brought the character to life in two live action movies and many people were interested in them without even knowing her character came from a game series. In 2013, the series returned for the consoles of the time. Lara Croft was one of the first women to star in a game and her name is synonymous with history because of that. The last game released in 2018 and a new one is being developed by Amazon Games with few details available currently.

#9: Crash Bandicoot

Crash is an iconic character and a true pioneer in the world of platforming games. He’s been around for years and while he may not have been getting brand new games across the years his legacy remains intact. His first three games have been remastered for current generation consoles proving that people are still nostalgic for him. This type of treatment is how generations can connect. Crash has always represented the pure fun aspect of gaming where precise timing and patience are the keys to victory. Players agree that sometimes it can be very difficult but they still want to keep playing. The bright and colorful world he’s in is the perfect place for his silly over the top personality. His most recent game, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, released in 2020.

#8: Sora

Sora’s keyblade weapon is the most recognizable aspect of the Kingdom Hearts series. People may not recognize his face immediately but they definitely know the keyblade – and his large shoes. His outfit is very popular amongst cosplayers and it’s also common for streamers to have a keyblade on their wall. Sora is truly the face of the Kingdom Hearts series and along with his associates, stick out amongst the instantly recognizable Disney characters that are in the games. The series is a Japanese made RPG so naturally there are multiple versions of each game with various expansions. This has allowed players to experience them through various generations of consoles. It’s always nice to have a nostalgic experience while still getting something brand new out of it too. The upcoming Kingdom Hearts 4 is the fifteenth game in the series.

#7: Sub – Zero

The concept of Mortal Kombat is known by many people who have never done a single move in the game. The iconic graphic violence of the game and the “FATALITY” voiceover has been referenced by fans and people who know fans for decades. One of the most popular characters from the game is Sub-Zero. Many gravitate towards him due to his abilities to create/manipitale ice in a variety of ways to destroy his opponents. True fans also know there are actually two people who have taken the “Sub-Zero” name, – Bi Han and his successor Kuai Liang. Sub-Zero is a character that has been in every Mortal Kombat game since the very first one in 1992 and the “Cyber Sub-Zero” variant was available in 2011’s Mortal Kombat (a reboot of the series but officially the 9th game in the series.)

#6 Ezio Auditore da Firenze

The populr Assassin’s Creed video games are another series with an iconic lead character – but players will quickly inform you almost every game has a different lead character. However, they do share a similar look. This look is the iconic hooded face, an adorned chest and waist area and of course the extended hidden blade on the left hand. When most people picture the series, they think of Ezio who debuted in Assassin’s Creed II from 2009. His character gave the series even more attention and he paved the way for the other characters who followed in his footsteps. Out of all of them, many cite Ezio as their favorite since he may have been the first one they played as or that his game took the franchise to the next level.

#5: Kratos

Kratos is another character many people recognize and it’s very hard to mistake him for someone else. With his white skin, red markings and full beard, he has a very intimidating presence. Kratos first appeared in God of War for the PlayStation 2 in 2005. You’ve likely seen his most recent iteration in God of War: Ragnarok which released in 2022. This game is a sequel to the reboot from 2018 also titled God of War. Kratos is not the most pleasant character in the gaming world but considering what he’s been through, it is completely understandable. Players are drawn to him because of his cold personality and how his combative abilities reflect his ruthlessness. The way the games integrate both Greek and Norse mythology also give players insight onto that world and many have taken interest in both outside of the game because of it.

#4 Master Chief

While the “Halo Guy” is not a completely inaccurate name, video game players will still correct you if you use it. The Halo series is a staple in the history of the Xbox and many players remember the original game on the first generation Xbox. Master Chief’s armored suit that comes with a full face helmet is iconic. He’s easily one of the most cool looking first person shooting games characters. In fact, many of us may remember seeing full size cardboard cutouts of him standing in GameStop and Blockbuster. The Halo games have been around for years and were pioneers in the sci-fi first person shooter world of gaming. It’s only right the iconic nostalgic imagery stick in people’s minds for years.

#3 Kirby

Everyone may not know what Kirby technically is but they do agree that he is cute. His look is simplistic but iconic and has made drawing him in various ways fun for artists all over. Like several characters from our childhood, children of this generation may be more familiar with seeing him as a meme. The character debuted in 1992 in Kirby’s Dream Land and like his fellow Nintendo characters on this list, has become a staple symbol for the company. Kirby can adapt and gain new abilities with his copy ability. And of course, his iconic ability to inhale things comes in handy and his flying does too. Kirby is a legacy character and several of his original games have found their way to the Nintendo Switch.

#2 Sonic

Sonic is one of the first video game characters that people viewed as cool. His debut in 1991’s Sonic The Hedgehog was iconic because it took the side scrolling platform game concept to the next level. The speed at which Sonic moved was his claim to fame and the games showcased this very well. As time went on, the camera shifted behind him and players could really get a full sense of his speed essentially from his perspective. Sonic has appeared in multiple games across the years along with other characters from his world with various unique mechanics appearing in many of them. Most recently, he entered the world of open world games with Sonic Frontiers which was released in 2022. Sonic’s positive attitude and witty humor make him a standout character and his look is timeless.

#1 Mario

Mario is the most recognizable video game character of all. He’s been around since 1981 after making his debut in the Donkey Kong arcade game. Once he got his own game, Super Mario Bros. , for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1985, he continued to appear in multiple games for Nintendo game consoles across the years. Mario is another character many people have used for memes most recently but his legacy in the gaming world is iconic and timeless. Many families have seen him when playing Mario Kart and he’ll always be one of the characters from games that parents have no issues with. As a character from a platformer, he is truly a part of the foundation of what video games are. It’s only right he makes his move into the (animated) movie world with The Super Mario Bros. Movie which releases April 7,2023.

“Call Of Duty” Secures New Deal With Nintendo

Call Of Duty is one of the most popular video game franchises in the entire world. Throughout the years, this game has sold millions of copies. Overall, it is one of those titles that get a brand-new game, every single year. Although some fans are sick of these games, it is clear that most people like picking up the latest title. After all, Call Of Duty is a great way to stay connected with your friends through gaming. Those late-night COD sessions have always been amazing, regardless of the quality of the game itself.

Over the years, Activision has had a deal in place with Microsoft to make it so that the Xbox gets certain COD perks first. However, this has ultimately hurt fans of other consoles. This is especially true for those who have the Nintendo Switch. The Switch has gotten COD games on occasion, however, they game usually gets released months later. Moreover, fans don’t get all of the same DLCs and content packs. Now, though, that looks to be changing as Microsoft and Nintendo have entered a new agreement.

“Call Of Duty” x Nintendo

Brad Smith, the vice chair and president of Microsoft revealed on Tuesday that Nintendo has entered a 10-year deal with Microsoft. This deal makes it so that all future Call Of Duty games will be released on the Switch at the exact same time as the Xbox. Additionally, gamers will be able to every single content pack that Activision and its developers have to offer. Overall, this is a massive win for Nintendo gamers who are oftentimes forgotten about. Over the years, the console has been seen as a vessel for family-friendly games, which leaves little room for first-person shooters.

Hopefully, this deal works out for everyone. Ten years is most definitely a long time, however, Call Of Duty is one of those franchises that will never go away. Activision has covered a lot of ground with this franchise, so we are curious to see where they go next. Let us know what you think of the latest COD games, down in the comments below.
