Following an encounter with Britney Spears, the security for Victor Wembanyama will not face charges. Wembanyama is the first overall draft pick for the San Antonio Spurs.

Last week, news of an encounter between the two occurred. According to ESPN, Spears said she tapped the star and was backhanded in response.

The incident happened at the ARIA Hotel and Casino in Vegas. According to TMZ, Spears says she noticed Webmanyama and tapped him on the shoulder, wanting a photo, but was nearly slapped to the floor, and her glasses flew off. Spears wrote on Instagram that the moment was “super embarrassing to share with the world but its out there already.”

“I have yet to get a public apology from the player, his security or their organization,” Spears wrote. “I hope they will …”

Wembanyama stated he had no clue the woman attempting to get his attention was Spears.

“I couldn’t stop. That person was calling me, ‘Sir, sir,’ and that person grabbed me from behind,” Wembanyama said. “I didn’t see what happened because I was walking straight and didn’t stop. That person grabbed me from behind — not on my shoulder, she grabbed me from behind. I just know the security pushed her away. I don’t know with how much force, but security pushed her away. I didn’t stop to look so I could walk in and enjoy a nice dinner.”

TMZ Sports obtained a police report with details from Spears’ security team stating Wembanyama’s security did not strike the singer with a closed fist and pushed her hand off the player, calling it a “standard response.” Police agreed with the assessment, stating the guard “pushes her hand off of the player without looking, which causes Britney’s hand to hit herself in the face.”

Britney Spears Fans Troll Victor Wembanyama During Spurs Debut

The sports and music worlds have been caught up in a wild saga in recent days after a security guard employed by the San Antonio Spurs allegedly slapped Britney Spears. According to Spears, she had approached NBA rookie Victor Wembanyama at the ARIA Hotel in order to try and get a picture with him. However, after tapping him on the shoulder, she was reportedly backhanded across the face by Damian Smith, the Spurs’ Director of Team Security. Additionally, a witness claimed to corroborate Spears’ story but also added that she was behaving somewhat erratically. According to Brian Grajales, Spears was speaking in a British accent while approaching Wembanyama. Furthermore, she screamed “That’s America for you! Fuck you all!” after Wembanyama was ushered inside the restaurant. Despite this, police in Las Vegas declined to file any charges in the case.

However, video of the incident also makes it clear why charges were not filed in the incident. Most importantly, Smith did not directly or intentionally slap Spears as claimed. Instead, Smith appears to knock Spears’ hand away from Wembanyama’s back. As a result, either his arm or her hand makes incidental contact with her face. However, it would be dishonest to call it a “backhand”. Furthermore, Spears was not knocked to the ground as she initially claimed. Additionally, Wembanyama was not being “swarmed” by fans at the time of the incident. At the moment Spears approached, there was three or four team personnel walking beside Wembanyama. However, the video makes it clear that there was no intentional malice and that the reports that Spears had been directly “slapped” were at best, exaggerated.

Spears Fans Troll Wembanyama

The feud somewhat continued during Wembanyama Spurs debut during the NBA Summer League on July 7. Wembanyama had 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 blocks in a 76-68 Spurs win. The French prospect was humble in his admission that he still has a long way to go. “I think the biggest improvement I’ve got to do is being ready and being ready to react to the plays called by the point guard and staying connected,” he said. “I think there’s a lot of conditioning to do,” Wembanyama said. “Especially with our play style, we run a lot. It’s really exhausting. Even though it was 40 minutes tonight, when I subbed out, I was always tired and exhausted. So I think there’s a lot of conditioning to do,” he added.

The performance lead to some relentless trolling on social media from Spears’ fans. “Britney scoring in heels take notes victor wembanyama,” a Twitter user noted while posting a clip of Britney playing basketball on Ellen. “Retweet if you think Britney Spears could beat Victor Wembanyama in 1:1,” said another while posting pictures of Spears playing in a celebrity basketball game. “Victor Wembanyama the walking twig got smacked and his reaction’s priceless. That Britney voodoo is real,” added a third, referring to Wembanyama’s struggles against more physical players. Wembanyama will next be in action against the Blazers on July 9.

No Charges Filed In Britney Spears Assault Case

All eyes have been on Las Vegas in recent days after a security guard employed by the San Antonio Spurs allegedly slapped Britney Spears. However, at no point during the media frenzy was a video of the incident released to the public.

Assault Case Closed, Police Decline To Charge Smith

It now appears that the saga has reached its conclusion. On July 7, approximately 36 hours after the incident occurred, law enforcement in Las Vegas announced that they would be closing the case. Furthermore, police confirmed that “no charges will be filed” in the matter. However, they also declined to provide any additional details about the investigation or why it had been closed without charges filed.

There are myriad reasons why the case has been resolved this way. It’s possible that an examination of the available evidence showed that charges were not warranted. In this hypothetical, video of the incident could have exonerated Smith. Alternatively, Spears or her team could have declined to press charges. Unfortunately, without any details from the police, we simply don’t know. Regardless, whatever the reason, it appears that the story has reached its conclusion. Wembanyama can now fully turn his attention to his Summer League debut. If all goes to plan, Wembanyama will face the Charlotte Hornets at 9pm ET.

On the evening of July 5, Britney Spears was allegedly slapped by a security guard traveling with NBA rookie Victor Wembanyama. Initial reports suggested that Spears had approached Wembanyama to get a photo with him, only to be struck by the Spurs Director of Security Damian Smith. Furthermore, Spears’ team later filed a police report, alleging battery. Per TMZ, the incident is being reviewed as a criminal matter. However, police sources appeared to indicate that Smith had not slapped Spears, but instead pushed her hand away from Wembanyama.

Additionally, TMZ spoke to a Canadian man named Brian Grajales who claimed to have witnessed the incident. Grajales primarily corroborated Spears’ account, saying she was slapped in the face after approaching Wembanyama from behind. However, Grajales also included some more unusual details. He claimed that Spears had been speaking in a “British accent” and screamed “This is fucking America” have the incident occurred. At the time of writing, no video footage of the incident has been released to the public.

Spears, speaking on Instagram, refuted Wembanyama’s account. “I am aware the player’s statement where he mentions ‘I grabbed him from behind’ but I simply tapped him on the shoulder. His security then back handed me in the face without looking back, in front of the crowd. Nearly knocking me down and causing my glasses off my face.” Furthermore, Spears went on to demand an apology. “I also don’t appreciate nor do I thin this is a laughing matter. Watching the player smile and laugh was cruel and demoralizing with the situation that took place. I am 5’3 and he’s 7’4…” Spears’ account also contradicts previous reporting that claimed she was knocked to the ground and that she did receive an apology from Smith. Earlier today (July 6), TMZ reported that on the evening of July 5, Britney Spears was allegedly slapped in the face by a security guard traveling with NBA rookie Victor Wembanyama. The incident reportedly occurred in Vegas at the Catch restaurant at the ARIA Hotel. Reportedly, Spears spotted Wembanyama, who is in Vegas for the NBA Summer League, and went over to get a picture. She allegedly tapped Wembanyama on the back only for the Spurs’ Director of Team Security to slap her across the face. TMZ alleges that the slap was hard enough to send Spears to the ground and knock her glasses off.

In an additional update, TMZ confirmed that law enforcement is treating the incident “as serious as a heart attack.” Furthermore, contrary to previous updates from the outlet, the case is being treated as a criminal investigation. While that does not guarantee criminal charges for Damian Smith, the alleged slapper, and the Spurs’ Director of Team Security. However, law enforcement also claims that video of the incident, which has not been made public, shows that Smith hit Spears in the hand, not the face.

Witness Provides New Details On Slap Incident

While no footage of the incident has been released, TMZ did share a blurry photo purporting to show Spears moments before she made contact with Wembanyama. Furthermore, the outlet also spoke with a Canadian man named Brian Grajales, who claims to have witnessed the incident firsthand. Victor Wembanyama may be the hottest name in basketball right now. The French center is the most anticipated NBA prospect since LeBron. He is set to make his stateside debut on July 7 during the first day of the NBA Summer League. Furthermore, clips from Spurs training sessions have already gotten fans hyped up.

However, there’s another sporting event on the mind of the generational prospect. Next year, his home city of Paris will host the Olympic Games. It is the first time that Paris will host the event since 1924, having unsuccessfully bid in 1992, 2008, and 2012. While Wembanyama, a member of the French National Team, opted to skip this year’s FIBA World Cup to focus on preparing for the NBA, he will likely take part in the Olympics barring injury. Wembanyama previously won silver at the 2019 U16 European Championship and the 2021 U19 World Cup. Furthermore, this expectation has influenced some decisions made by the organizing committee.

Tickets for Olympic basketball, handball, sailing, and soccer went on sale on July 4, months earlier than previously expected. All four events are set to take place partially or entirely outside of Paris. Handball and basketball will stage matches in Lille while sailing will take place in Marseille. Meanwhile, soccer will be staged at six venues around the country. The Paris Organizing Committee stated that the decision to move up the sale came after other sports saw huge sales in their opening rounds.

However, other factors are likely in play. The sports in question contain some of France’s biggest athletes – namely Wembanyama and soccer’s Kylian Mbappé. That name-brand appeal will help boost sales, as well as help cover for some of the less pleasant headlines from recent weeks. Paris 2024 is currently under investigation by local prosecutors over corruption charges. Reportedly, these charges stem from concerns about how several lucrative contracts for the Games were awarded. Regardless, tickets will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Draymond Green is easily one of the best defenders in the entire NBA. Overall, he is someone who has always gotten credit for the way he plays. Sure, he may not be the most offensive-minded guy out there, but that is not his role. Instead, he is out there contesting shots, grabbing rebounds, and making life hell for other people. Green is well aware of his talents, and he isn’t afraid to use them. Consequently, he is a feared guy around the league, even if some people clown him from time to time.

Recently, Draymond Green went on Paul George’s podcast where they discussed a whole range of topics. At one point, the two touched on Victor Wembanyama, who just went first overall to the San Antonio Spurs. Overall, Wembanyama is set to be a massive star. However, Green noted that despite the kid’s frame, there are ways that you can shut him down. At the end of the day, it all comes back to putting pressure on your man.
