Travis Scott’s ‘Circus Maximus Tour’ Sent Italy Into An Earthquake-Like Frenzy Yet Again

Last August, Travis Scott staged One Night Only In Utopia at Circus Maximus in Rome, Italy to promote his then-newly released album, Utopia. Unfortunately, Scott’s performance was a public safety risk — causing fear of an earthquake due to how many people were jumping up and down at the monument, which was not built to support a concert.

Scott would go on to stage multiple Circus Maximus Tour shows throughout North America. The tour returned to Italy on Tuesday, July 23, and elicited déjà vu.

According to Billboard, 80,000 people in attendance at Ippodromo Snai La Maura in Milan “sparked worries of an earthquake.”

“While the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology didn’t report any earthquakes in Milan, X [formerly Twitter] users complained about vibrations,” Billboard clarified.

Scott posted a video to Instagram showing the ginormous crowd jumping up and down and captioned it, “Last night was a dream. ‘NO THIS ISN’T A FESTIVAL. THIS IS A SHOW ON TOUR’ in the words of Stromberg. Milan y’all owe me nothing. Y’all gave y’all all 80K of y’all had the best time ever.”

Earlier this week, Scott announced a One Night In Utopia show at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on October 9.

NEW YORK & NEW JERSEY I WANTED TO DO THIS VENUE DURING THE FIRST LEG,” Scott wrote. “BUT FOOTBALL SEASON HAD IT TIED UP. I HAD TO MAKE SURE WE SPIN THE BLOCK. NEW YORK HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE PLACE FOR ME WHEN I PERFORM IT LETS ME KNOW THE REAL METRIC OF THE RAGE. CANT WAITTTTTT FOR ONE NIGHT IN NEW YORK.”

Scott’s Circus Maximus Tour will rumble through Germany, Spain, and Portugal before he begins his South American leg. The Circus Maximus Tour will hit Mexico City, Mexico on September 21 and East Rutherford, New Jersey on October 9 before concludign with a brief Australia and New Zealand leg. In recent years, Kanye West-related headlines have very rarely been related to music. However, in recent weeks, the chatter has primarily centered around Vultures, the forthcoming joint album between him and Ty Dolla Sign, a work that has been delayed numerous times. On January 23, West shared that Vultures will be a three-part project, with the first part due out on February 9.

But before releasing new music, West dipped into his existing discography as a surprise performer during the second-to-last stop on Travis Scott’s Utopia — Circus Maximus Tour in Orlando, Florida on Wednesday, January 31. Wearing a Jason mask, he performed “All Of The Lights” and “Runaway” from his 2010 beloved No. 1 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy — as well as several other tracks, including the unreleased “Vultures.” Several videos circulated on X (formerly Twitter). One such video captured Ye confirming the aforementioned February 9 release date for Vultures.

Earlier Wednesday, Ye’s daughter, North West, was reportedly spotted wearing a graphic tee displaying an updated Vultures Vol. 1 tracklist, as seen below.

1. “Everybody” Feat. Charlie Wilson
2. “Back To Me” Feat. Freddie Gibbs & Quavo

Travis Scott Paid A Janitor $5000 To Stop Mopping And Start Raging During A Recent ‘Utopia’ Show

Travis Scott’s Circus Maximus tour for his album Utopia has lived up to its title, offering night after night of entertaining spectacle as the Houston rapper crisscrosses the nation. In addition to performing the fan-favorite “Fein” multiple times in a row, he’s also brought out his daughter Stormi to perform with him and had to dodge his stage props, including one in the shape of his own head. The bass even knocked over an NHL trophy in Montreal.

At his recent stop in Miami, though, he did something pretty cool. Noticing a janitor working during the show, he stopped to offer the man $5,000 to put down his mop and rage along with the fans in attendance. He then went right into performing the highlight “Fein,” (ten times, according to the Miami New Times) with the crowd even more amped up than usual after witnessing his random act of kindness. Let’s just hope the maintenance worker’s bosses at the Kaseya Center are understanding and actually let him keep the money (there are usually rules against this sort of thing, but come on, man).

Travis is wrapping up the Utopia tour after two more shows (01/31 — Orlando, FL @ Amway Center and 02/05 — Louisville, KY @ KFC Yum Center), then performing at the 2024 Grammys. He’s also got a movie, “Aggro Dr1ft,” coming out, then… we’ll see.

Opener

Travis Scott is one of the most revered performers in rap music. So, to serve as his opener comes with a great deal of pressure. The guest act for the Utopia: Circus Maximus Tour is Teezo Touchdown. Teezo is a Texas native like Scott. But instead of coming out of Houston, Teezo calls the city of Beaumont home. According to Genius, Teezo shared his first single, “William Shatner,” in 2011. However, his debut studio album, How Do You Sleep at Night?, didn’t hit streaming services until last month. Before that, his songs “Strong Friend,” “Careful,” “Sucka!” and “Rooting For You” helped him gain a steady fan base. At the same time, his signature fashion sense of styling his hair with nails grabbed users across social media attention. Since then, Teezo has earned the respect of fellow rappers Drake and Tyler The Creator (whom he toured with last year).

How To Get Tickets

Once the Utopia: Circus Maximus Tour was announced, it immediately sold out nationwide, forcing Scott to add additional stops. However, hundreds of tickets have popped up across secondary ticketing sites such as StubHub. So, here’s how to get tickets for the newest city near you. To protect yourself from scam attempts, purchasing tickets from Ticketmaster here (either as an original purchase or resell) is best.
