Joe Budden Goes Scorched Earth On Drake In The Most Joe Budden Way Possible

Joe Budden went off on Drake on the latest episode of his podcast, accusing him of making enemies in the music industry for 15 years behind the scenes. The rant comes after Drake’s feud with Kendrick Lamar reached another level on Monday, as he took legal action against Universal Music Group.

After one of his co-hosts prefaced Drake’s current situation as being the first time he’s battled adversity in his career, Budden set the record straight in his eyes. “Or, he’s a selfish, lying, manipulative, sack of sh*t who has made enemies for 15 years and now, we’re here at the f*cking boiling point,” he remarked. “You’ve been behind the scenes being the biggest sack of sh*t you can possibly be. I’m not here to f*cking play games with you n****s. N****s know what it is out there. That’s it. And, he’s f*cking white, and he’s Jewish. And, he had too much dip on his chip. You have been behind the scenes hitting n****s baby moms, sending money to n****s baby moms. You been back and sending messages to this n****s wife, talking sh*t about f*cking, ‘Aye, but this n****s mom died. Aye all that’s cool but where my beat at n***a. I don’t give a f*ck that your mom died.’ This n****s been a sack of sh*t behind the scenes and because he got fans and had Lucian, everybody just gets to turn a blind eye. The blind eye days are done.”

From there Budden asked his co-hosts when the last time Drake dropped a single “with legs.” He argued it’s been since the release of 2018’s “God’s Plan.” Expanding on Drake’s alleged reputation, Budden claimed that the situation is beyond hip-hop beef and tech billionaires hate him now. He concluded by bringing up several artists including Rick Ross, Meek Mill, and T.I., suggesting that they’re all at the “back end” of their careers and Drake’s trying too hard to avoid getting there.

Drake’s Team Allegedly Asked Rob Markman To “Show The Boy Some Love” In Exchange For Access

Rob Markman alleges that someone from Drake’s OVO team reached out to him at some point during the Toronto rapper’s feud with Kendrick Lamar requesting that he share some positive thoughts about Drake. Markman shared the story while discussing the bombshell legal filings against Universal Music Group.

“I was approached during the battle by a team connected with the OVO side,” he began. “[They] asked me to show the boy some love. Again, I was being as unbiased as possible. I was calling it like I see it, but they asked me, ‘Yo, we know you’re unbiased.’ Really said it. ‘We know you’re unbiased and we like that you’re unbiased and really try to call it straight, but can you show the guy some love.’ No money was offered, absolutely no money was offered. But they offered some things– some information, some access, and said, ‘Yo, and we’ll make it so that you can play his songs in your videos. We’ll whitelist it.’ Ultimately, I declined for my own personal reasons. I just feel that my allegiance is to y’all.”

Drake filed his pre-action petition in Manhattan court on Monday. In the filing, he alleged that UMG and Spotify worked together to artificially boost the popularity of Kendrick Lamar’s viral diss track, “Not Like Us.” “UMG did not rely on chance, or even ordinary business practices,” lawyers for Drake’s company wrote. “It instead launched a campaign to manipulate and saturate the streaming services and airwaves.”

Wack 100 Blames Drake’s UMG Lawsuit On “Jealousy” Over “GNX” Success

Wack 100 says that jealousy is the reason Drake is taking legal action against Universal Music Group and Spotify over the success of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” diss track. He ranted about the Toronto rapper’s pre-action petition on social media on Monday night. In doing so, he brought up reports that Lamar’s new album, GNX, is dominating the streaming charts.

Wack began by suggesting that, even if Drake’s allegations are true, the lawsuit could backfire on him if labels have been using the same strategy with his own music. “Either way it go, he let his emotions cloud his thoughts so bad to where he’s just swinging in the air and screaming,” Wack argued in a clip circulating online. “I’ma be real: I think when he seen Kendrick Lamar controlling the first twelve slots of Apple, I think it sent him somewhere.”

Drake filed the petition in Manhattan court on Monday, alleging that UMG and Spotify worked together to artificially boost the popularity of Kendrick Lamar’s viral diss track, “Not Like Us.” He is accusing UMG of using bots and payola, among other methods in what he describes as an “illegal” scheme. “UMG did not rely on chance, or even ordinary business practices,” lawyers for Drake’s company, Frozen Moments LLC, wrote in the filing. “It instead launched a campaign to manipulate and saturate the streaming services and airwaves.” They accuse UMG of violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act as well as breaking New York state law by using deceptive business practices and false advertising.

Drake Sues UMG For Defamation Over Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us”

Drake has made a second legal filing against Universal Music Group, accusing the company of defamation over the release of Kendrick Lamar’s hit diss track, “Not Like Us.” He made the pre-action filing in a Texas court, late Monday, claiming UMG could have prevented the release of the song “falsely accusing him of being a sex offender.” The move comes after he filed a similar pre-action petition in New York, earlier in the day, accusing the company and Spotify of allegedly artificially boosting Lamar’s diss track.

“UMG … could have refused to release or distribute the song or required the offending material to be edited and/or removed,” Drake’s lawyers wrote, as caught by Billboard. “But UMG chose to do the opposite. UMG designed, financed and then executed a plan to turn ‘Not Like Us’ into a viral mega-hit with the intent of using the spectacle of harm to Drake and his businesses to drive consumer hysteria and, of course, massive revenues. That plan succeeded, likely beyond UMG’s wildest expectations.”

The new filing also accuses UMG of funneling payments to iHeartRadio as part of a “pay-to-play scheme,” in exchange for promoting the song on radio. Also similar to the first lawsuit, Lamar, himself, is not listed as a respondent in the filing and is not personally accused of wrongdoing. On “Not Like Us,” he raps, “Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophiles,” in reference to Drake.

UMG responded to the first filing on Monday night, writing in a statement: “The suggestion that UMG would do anything to undermine any of its artists is offensive and untrue. We employ the highest ethical practices in our marketing and promotional campaigns. No amount of contrived and absurd legal arguments in this pre-action submission can mask the fact that fans choose the music they want to hear.” Be on the lookout for further updates in the case on HotNewHipHop.

Adam22 Claims Drake Could Be Declared A Hero Thanks To His Highly Controversial UMG Lawsuit

Adam22 is one of the most controversial people in hip-hop thanks to his various takes on the culture, and his foray into adult entertainment. However, No Jumper is still a massive platform that has platformed and championed a ton of underground artists. This is particularly true in the L.A. rap scene as many of the small artists on Kendrick Lamar’s new album GNX, were interviewed by Adam. The media mogul has also developed a relationship with Drake, so there is no doubt that he has been left in the middle of the rap beef.

On Monday evening, bombshell news hit the internet as it was reported that Drake was filing a lawsuit against UMG for allegedly sabotaging his career. Overall, Drake believes that UMG was paying people to promote “Not Like Us” and was even employing bots to run up Spotify streams. Moreover, it seems like Drake believes this was done in attempt to minimize his career and affect future contract negotiations with UMG. It is a massive allegation of corruption, and Adam22 believes this is great for the culture.

Adam22 Backs Drake

“Anyone acting like Drake is just a bad loser hasn’t read this shit yet. If half of this gets proven, Drake will look like a hero for exposing the corrupt music industry,” Adam22 wrote. Overall, Adam makes an interesting point here. This could lead to some truly massive industry implications. Although it might not be a lawsuit against Kendrick, optically, it does feel that way, at least a little bit. As soon as the lawsuit dropped, the internet made up its mind about how it felt.

Regardless, this is going to be very interesting to watch play out. UMG has already called the allegations “offensive.” They will be fighting the artist tooth and nail throughout this process. As for Kendrick, he is sitting back and chilling right now. GNX is a massive success, and no amount of lawsuits will change that.
