Joe Budden Delivers His Take On LiAngelo Ball’s Viral Single “Tweaker”

2025 is off to a strong start for LiAngelo Ball, whose new single “Tweaker” only continues to go viral. He first previewed the song during a stream with N3on earlier this month and dropped the full version a few days later. It’s since received a great deal of praise from fans and peers alike, with huge artists like Boosie Badazz and MoneyBagg Yo even offering to hop on remixes.

Of course, this means the track was one of the first things Joe Budden discussed in the latest episode of his podcast. Needless to say, his feedback was nothing but positive. “On the credits, it says that LaMelo produced this,” he began. “It says he produced and arranged it, it says that Lonzo wrote it, and it says that LiAngelo performed it… I love that about them.” Budden continued, revealing that he’s a fan of all the memes he’s been seeing about the viral song lately.

Joe Budden Is A Fan Of LiAngelo Ball’s Viral Hit

“This sh*t do sound like a Big Tymers record to me,” he also added. “I like the song. I like the song, I ain’t gon’ lie, sorry.” Budden and his co-hosts went on to debate whether or not Ball could successfully release an album. While Budden didn’t seem entirely sure about this, his co-hosts appeared to believe it wasn’t off the table. “I think a lot of these n****s got a album in them though,” Ice explained. “This ain’t Allen Iverson doing ’40 Bars’ again where they’re like interjecting hip-hop into the NBA. This is a new era, like all of these n****s grew up literally on hip-hop.”

LiAngelo Ball’s viral song wasn’t the only thing Budden addressed during the episode, as he also discussed his recent lewdness charge. Reportedly, a neighbor captured the personality trying to get into his apartment on his Ring doorbell camera while completely naked in December. Budden, who has been open about his sleepwalking habits in the past, fortunately beat the case.

Lonzo Ball Reveals Why He’s Credited On LiAngelo Ball’s “Tweaker” Single

LiAngelo Ball has an early candidate for song of 2025 with “Tweaker.” It has taken sports locker rooms and the internet by storm during the first week of the year. LiAngelo’s older brother, Lonzo Ball, has done his part to promote the song on social media. Footage of the NBA superstar playing “Tweaker” before a Bulls game went viral. Lonzo Ball is more than a hype man, though. He’s actually a credited writer on the song, which has led some fans to speculate how much input he had in the final product. The speculation has reached such a fever pitch that Lonzo decided to set the record straight.

Lonzo Ball is listed as a writer on “Tweaker.” Additionally, he’s said to have “additional vocals” on the song. The NBA star denied that he played as a crucial a role in LiAngelo’s breakout hit. He tweeted out that he merely worked on the cover art for “Tweaker,” and should only be credited as such. “Only credit I deserve is the cover art,” he wrote on January 6. “Lol G really that! #YearOfG.” Lonzo Ball could easily be downplaying his role in the creation of “Tweaker” as a means of keeping the spotlight on his brother. The success of the song has already secured LiAngelo Ball a spot on the Rolling Loud California lineup.

Lonzo Ball Claims He Simply Made The Artwork

It’s also worth noting that Lonzo Ball has released music of his own. He may be best known for his work on the court, but Lonzo has put out three hip hop albums over the seven years. His latest, Ball-Star Pack, dropped in 2022. Ball-Star Pack is worth noting, in particular, because the album is billed as a joint tape with LiAngelo Ball. Lonzo Ball is billed as “ZO” on the album, while LiAngelo is billed as “G3.” Lonzo Ball has also dished out some very hot takes regarding hip hop, and the artists who are putting out the best music.

During an episode of the 2017 reality series Ball In the Family, Lonzo claimed Nas was irrelevant in the modern landscape of the genre. “Y’all outdated, man,” he stated. Don’t nobody listen to Nas anymore. Real hip-hop is Migos and Future.” In a follow up radio interview, Lonzo Ball admitted that he was not aiming to diss Nas’ legacy. He merely wanted to communicate that artists like Migos and Future had more of an impact on his life. “The first person who popped into my head was Nas, because obviously he’s real hip-hop,” he explained. Time will tell if we get more Lonzo and LiAngelo collabs in the future.

LiAngelo Ball is capturing hip-hop fans’ hearts to kick off 2025 thanks to his overnight hit, “Tweaker.” The single quickly acquired buzz thanks to the occasional NBA prospect teasing it on N3on’s recent livestream. It can also be found on streaming platforms under the “Ball Brothers” account. Since landing on the previous platform, “Tweaker” has racked up over three million views in three days. Astoundingly, its currently number one on trending for music. Throughout the year, it’s going to be interesting to see how much staying power the record has.

It’s mostly because Gelo has little to no experience in hip-hop. Additionally, the production quality and overall mixing leaves a lot to be desired. Because of those factors, the response to it has been fairly mixed. However, people seem to be warming up to it as the days go by. It’s become a hit with the professional athletes with videos of Cleveland Cavaliers players and the Detroit Lions playing it in their locker rooms. We are also coming around to it as it’s an effective banger that anyone can bob their head to.
