When Will Eminem’s ‘The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)’ Be On Spotify?

Eminem probably felt more empowered to entitle an album The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) after being immortalized in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Whatever the reasoning, he’s fully leaning into killing off his antagonistic alter ego. Slim Shady is seen in a literal body bag in the album’s cover art, after all.

At any rate, anticipation for a fresh Eminem album is alive and well.

When Will Eminem’s The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) Be On Spotify?

Eminem’s The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) is due out on Friday, July 12, which means that the album should become available to stream on Spotify at 9 p.m. PT on Thursday, July 11, and midnight ET on Friday, July 12. The same applies to all DSPs, presumably.

Eminem posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Public service announcement: the Death of Slim Shady is a conceptual album, therefore, if you listen to songs out of order they might not make sense. Enjoy.”

Eminem Has A Good Reason Why You Need To Listen To His New Album ‘The Death Of Slim Shady’ Front-To-Back

Eminem is still going strong: In 2020, his album Music To Be Murdered By went No. 1 and spawned the hit single “Godzilla.” Now, he’s a day away from releasing his 12th album, The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce). Before fans get their hands on it, though, Em has a message for them, about how he thinks the project should be heard.

On X (formerly Twitter) today (July 11), Eminem explained, “Public service announcement: the ‘death of slim shady’ is a conceptual album, therefore, if you listen to songs out of order they might not make sense. Enjoy.”

This isn’t Eminem’s first go in the conceptual space, as 2009’s Relapse is often considered a concept album, about drug rehabilitation and falling short.

So far, we’ve heard “Houdini” and “Tobey” from the new album. On the latter, some thought Eminem was dissing Jay-Z with the lines, “Ain’t feelin’ your top five favorite rappers / So I know they ’bout to be pissed at me / But this, to me, is a mystery / How rappers I’ve already ripped could be / Higher up on a list than me.” However, Eminem associate Royce Da 5’9″ shut that idea down, saying “of course not” to the diss speculation.

Even Eminem Has The ‘Hawk Tuah’ Girl On His Radar, As He Referenced To Promote His Upcoming Album

You know a meme has reached peak saturation when even the notoriously techno-phobic Eminem is referencing it to promote his new albums. The “Hawk Tuah” girl, Hailey Welch, has been all over the place since her memorable street interview went viral on TikTok (including concerts with Zach Bryan and Shaquille O’Neal), and now, her catchphrase is part of the rollout for Eminem’s new album, The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce).

Em quoted the spitting onomatopoeia in the caption of a video featuring the grave of “beloved antagonist” Slim Shady (who apparently died at the ripe old age of 27). A passerby spits on the tombstone, which bears a familiar quote from the chorus of “Without Me,” then walks away… missing a hand bursting up out of the ground, suggesting that rumors of Mr. Shady’s demise might have been greatly exaggerated.

Em’s spent much of the rollout for the album poking fun at his alter ego, from making him the anachronistic butt of the joke in his “Houdini” video to putting him to the chainsaw in the video for “Tobey” to zipping him into a body bag on the album’s cover. Whether all this means Eminem’s truly retiring the rap persona — or just trolling all of his haters yet again — remains to be seen.

Dr. Dre And Snoop Dogg May Have Teased Eminem’s Upcoming Album Months Ago In A Gin & Juice Cocktail Ad

While Eminem first began teasing his new album, The Death Of Slim Shady, back in April, some fans now think he may have teased it even sooner than that. According to Billboard, some of Em’s most dedicated Stans have apparently discovered clues to the new albums’ release in promos for another Dr. Dre-related product as far back as February.

That’s when Dre and longtime collaborator Snoop Dogg shared the ad for their Gin & Juice canned cocktails, which pays visual homage to Quentin Tarantino’s breakout 1994 film Pulp Fiction. Dressed as the film’s two hitmen, Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield, Dre and Snoop dispose of a body in the woods and open a can of Gin & Juice while Snoop smokes a blunt. Fans have determined that the body might have been the titular Slim Shady, as Eminem’s cover for The Death Of Slim Shady features him being zipped into a body bag like the one Snoop and Dre retrieve from the trunk of their car in the commercial.

Of course, all this could just be fans letting their imaginations run wild. After all, it has been nearly four years since Em last released a new album. As it stands, it’s fun to think that there could be a connection, but for now, there’s little concrete evidence that points to any determined cross promotion.

Eminem’s ‘Tobey’ Video With Big Sean And BabyTron Delivers Brutal, Bloody Lyrical Vignettes

Eminem and Cole Bennett’s productive working relationship continues to bear fruit, four months after the release of their latest video, “Doomsday 2.” They return to the drawing board for a new concept for the “Tobey” video, reminiscent of featured rapper BabyTron‘s “100 Bars.” Just like in that video, Bennett produces duplicates of Eminem, BabyTron, and Big Sean that each rap a line from their respective verses while they scroll through various tableaus, from a busy packing plant to the bloody, brutal murder scene from the teaser Em shared ahead of the single’s release.

“Tobey” will presumably appear on Em’s upcoming album, The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce). First announced in April after a “shady” pump fake for April Fools’ Day, Eminem’s twelfth studio album seems to be a return to form after the more political leanings of prior recent projects like Kamikaze and Revival. At the very least, it teases a return to the tongue-in-cheek, comedic material he created early in his career, judging by the video and lyrical content of lead single “Houdini.” Even so, he still finds time on “Tobey” to do a little more Music To Be Murdered By-style grousing about his placement on a recent “best rappers” list.

Eminem Is Reincarnated As A Demon Baby (?) In His Latest ‘The Death Of Slim Shady’ Teaser Clip

The obituary Eminem placed in the Detroit Free Press newspaper to promoted his upcoming might have been extreme, but that’s his norm. The “Houdini” rapper’s latest promotional clip is even more shocking.

Today (July 1), Eminem took to his official X (formerly Twitter) page to announce the official release date for The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce). Instead of a simple reveal, Eminem shared a suspense-filled teaser visual to break the news.

“OH SH*T!!! THE DEATH OF SLIM SHADY (COUP DE GRÂCE) ☠ 7/12,” he wrote.

Although the caption of the post delivered the calendar goodies, frankly that isn’t the most exciting part of the upload. In line with Eminem’s latest string of music video and teasers influenced by movies (Batman and Friday The 13th), this clip is an eerily mashup of The Omen and Seed Of Chucky.

As the video opens, the audience is witness to the gift of life (the complete opposite theme of the forthcoming project). However, there’s a catch. After the doctor frantically attempts to revive the unresponsive newborn, his efforts pay off. Instead of a bouncing bundle of joy, a demon baby terrorizes the hospital room. With Slim Shady slated to be killed off, is Eminem seemingly reincarnated in the worst way.

Eminem, Big Sean, And BabyTron Are Ready To Cause Lyrical Nightmares In Their Video Trailer For Single ‘Tobey’

Despite fans’ pushback, the seemingly professional burial of Eminem’s rap alter ego is moving full steam ahead. With his forthcoming album The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) on the way, Em is treating supporters to another taste of what’s to coming from the project.

Yesterday (June 28), the “Houdini” rapper took to X (formerly Twitter) page to tease his next single, “Tobey,” which is set to feature Big Sean and BabyTron.

“TOBEY. @babytron. @bigsean. New music 7/2. Video 7/5 by @colebennett,” he wrote.

In the gory clip, the trio, dressed in uniform coveralls, serve their most intimating mean mug to prove that Detroit has vested stakes in the “Big Three” conversation. With a chainsaw and creepy Jason Voorhees mask replica, Eminem hacks away at something just outside the camera’s frame, it is clear he means business.

As Babytron is heard rapping, “Tobey Maguire got bit by a spider but see me it was a GOAT,” Eminem’s love for film certainly found its way into the forthcoming collaboration.

Instead of fighting crime (as hilariously seen in the “Houdini” visual), Eminem, Big Sean, and BabyTron plan on wrecking havoc in the rap streets. With creative mind, Lyrical Lemonade’s Bennett, tasked to bring the vision to the screen, come July 5, the nightmares are soon to follow.

Eminem’s ‘Houdini’ Video Would’ve Been Beloved By Adam West, According To The OG Batman’s Family

Eminem’s latest single “Houdini” might’ve pissed off a few people, including Megan Thee Stallion, Paul Rosenberg, and even his own children. But the comedic, action-packed video just earned praise from a very interesting party.

Today (June 9), Adam West’s family came out to show their support for the rapper’s official visual. In a statement provided to TMZ, Nina Tooley (the late actor’s daughter) gushed about how her dad would’ve loved the silly tribute to his famed Batman role.

“My dad would have loved the video,” she said. “I could hear my dad’s distinct chuckle when the rapper was trying to scale a building with the ‘Bat Rope’ just like he and [Burt Ward] did in the series.”

In the video, Eminem drew inspiration from one of the duo’s many ‘Bat Rope’ scenes. But instead of suiting as the mysterious vigilante, the rapper reprised his role as faithful sidekick Robin. This isn’t the first Eminem interjected his interest in comic into his work. In fact, Eminem first sported spandex back in 2002, for the official video for the chart-topping single “Without Me” with his longtime mentor and friend Dr. Dre by his side of Batman.

Dr. Dre made his superhero return in “Houdini.” The video also featured notable appearances by Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, The Alchemist, Pete Davidson, and Shane Gillis. With his forthcoming album, The Death Of Slim Shady, set to be his final LP, Eminem clearly wanted to go out with a cartoonish boom, snap, and pow.

Eminem is outside for the summer. The Detroit previously made his way back to the spotlight with the announcement of his upcoming album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) and the release of its lead single “Houdini.” Eminem have his live debut of the song during the “Live From Detroit: The Concert At Michigan Central” show which celebrating the reopening of the refurbished Michigan Central, a historical landmark in Detroit. The show itself was co-executive produced by Eminem and his longtime manager Paul Rosenberg. It also featured performances by Diana Ross, Jack White, Big Sean, Fantasia, Jelly Roll, Common, Slum Village, the Clark Sisters, Kierra Sheard, and Melissa Etheridge.

Eminem was not originally on the bill of performers for the night, but it’s no surprise that he joined in on the fun to perform a few songs. Eminem’s surprise set included the live debut of “Houdini,” a performance of “Not Afraid” and “Welcome To Detroit” with Trick Trick, and a special rendition of “Sing For The Moment” with Jelly Roll who stepped in to sing Steven Tyler’s parts on the classic record.

“Timing worked out for us fortunately great because we just dropped a single — that wasn’t always the case when we agreed to jump on board,” Rosenberg said about Eminem’s performance according to Billboard. “We weren’t sure we were going to have new music out. It happened to work out great, and it became an opportunity to perform a new song.”

The “Live From Detroit: The Concert At Michigan Central” was livestreamed on Peacock and will be edited into a one-hour NBC special at 7pm PST/EST on June 9. As for Eminem, he’s weeks away from the release of em>The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grace) which Billboard says will arrive on July 5.
