Valee Enters Surf Gang’s Sonic World On Collaborative “Grey Sky London” EP

It’s been a SURF GANG takeover in 2024 and it’s not stopping even with just a few weeks remaining. The underground hip-hop label founded by producer evilgiane in 2018 has officially taken off. “The Hillbillies” track with Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem seemed to be what catapulted the collective. But overall, it’s been their unique cloud, emo, internet, and trap rap sounds that have been the catalyst in this. More mainstream acts like 03 Greedo and Maxo Kream have hopped into their soundscape. But they have been making their money with names like Nettspend, Slimesito, xaviersobased, and more.

Valee can now be added to the expansive list thanks to his new EP. Grey Sky London is a five-song collection between him and the label’s producers. Eera, evilgiane, and Harrison are joined by NIKETECH, Ccured and they have all created a woozy and subdued landscape for Valee. Leading up its release, they dropped “Why Not.” It’s quickly become fan favorite, racking up tens of thousands of streams on Spotify. Overall, this whole EP seems to take after the title, Grey Sky London. Typically, the popular tourist spot if gloomy, so they appeared to have shot for that aesthetic. Also, it looks like Valee and Surf Gang were recording the project there based on some IG posts. Overall, it’s a tape that doesn’t overstay its welcome. Moreover, Valee delivers some solid rapping performances to tie it all together. So, with that said, check it out below.

evilgiane, sniper2004 & SADPONY Eschew The Hip-Hop Game On New Single “i don’t wanna be a rapper”: Stream

evilgiane just won’t stop. The New York producer is easily one of the most in-demand and consistent beatmakers today, and his Surf Gang collective continues to make waves; pun most certainly intended. Moreover, he just dropped a new collaborative single with sniper2004 and producer SADPONY, “i don’t wanna be a rapper,” which also features additional work from Keanu Beats behind the board. This follows other recent credits for giane like Maxo Kream’s “Eye Know” and the collaborative Slimesito project EVILSLIME.

Furthermore, this is exactly the kind of fuzzy, hard-hitting, and cavernous production you would expect from evilgiane, forming a dark and fast-paced NY drill beat with subtly atmospheric synth pads. The “DESIGNER DRUGZ” beatsmith and SADPONY build a nice foundation for sniper2004’s rapid flows and desires to go on tour… But not that type of tour, as the song’s title suggests. “i don’t wanna be a rapper” is pretty menacing and unique as a result, packing a lot of energetic punch in just a minute and a half. How does Surf Gang keep doing it?

Meanwhile, if this is your first evilgiane cut, we’d recommend his other Maxo Kream collab “Bang The Bus” to keep the streak going. Also, make sure you keep an eye out for what SADPONY and sniper2004 pop out for next. If you haven’t heard “i don’t wanna be a rapper” yet, you can find it on your preferred streaming service or listen to it on YouTube below. Down there, you can also find some standout bars and the comments section for you to drop your thoughts on the track. As always, come back to HNHH for more of the best hip-hop releases around the clock.

Niontay Looks To Establish Himself On “Halftones” With RealYungPhil & SURF GANG

As we have repeated constantly hear at HNHH, 2023 was a bit of a dud for hip-hop in the mainstream. It was more so the lesser-known acts and underground talents shouldering the load. That is never a bad thing though, as artists that are not quite at the level of a Drake or Kendrick Lamar do not always get enough credit. This year has been a return to form for the top-flight rappers, but the underground is continuing to churn out some fun and interesting material. One artist that is building something exciting is Milwaukee rapper Niontay. The 25-year-old currently resides in Brooklyn, New York and has been making music since 2021. Today, Niontay just dropped a new single “Halftones,” and we wanted to shed light on it.

“Halftones” features RealYungPhil and SURF GANG with a production credit presumably. The 10k signee raps with a druggy flow in a lower register that exudes confidence and an extreme sense of nonchalance. YungPhil also brings a catchy chorus to the table over a dreamy trap beat. All in all it comes together for a cohesive listen that has the potential to do well for Niontay.

On top of the fact that it should do well on its own, “Halftones” should also help carry momentum after a strong 2023 for Niontay. He was busy with features last year, with notable placements for MIKE’s Burning Desire. The beginning of 2024 has also been a productive year in that regard, as Niontay was on MIKE’s recent effort Pinball, and RiTchie’s debut solo tape Triple Digits [112]. Be sure to check out “Halftones” with the link above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “Halftones” by Niontay, RealYungPhil, and SURF GANG? Who had the stronger performance on the track and why? Does Niontay have potential to reach star status? Do you think he has a new project coming soon? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Niontay, RealYungPhil, and SURF GANG.
