Glen Davis Sentenced To 40 Months In Prison For Scheme To Fraud NBA Healthcare System

Former NBA player Glen “Big Baby” Davis was recently sentenced to prison by a federal judge. The judge sentenced Davis on charges that he embezzled a significant sum of money from the NBA’s healthcare plan. In November 2023, Davis was found guilty of participating in a purported plot to cheat the NBA’s Players’ Health and Benefit Welfare Plan. On Thursday, a New York judge ordered the former Boston Celtics champion to serve 40 months in prison. Davis was also mandated to spend three years of supervised release; he had been facing a potential 20-year jail sentence in this case. Furthermore, the judge further ordered him to make restitution of $80,000.

Twenty individuals, including former players Will Bynum, Terrence Williams, and Keyon Dooling, were indicted for submitting fraudulent claims for reimbursement to the NBA’s health and welfare benefit plan for operations and medical services that never materialized. Davis is one of these individuals. Furthermore, Terrence Williams, a former first-round draft pick, was believed to be the scheme’s architect. In August of last year, he received a 10-year prison term. Additionally, Bynum was ordered to pay $183,000 in reparations and received an 18-month prison stay in April.

Glen Davis was found guilty of wire fraud, health care fraud, conspiracy to conduct wire fraud, and conspiracy to make false claims. He could have spent twenty years behind bars. Throughout his eight NBA seasons, Glen Davis averaged eight points and 4.4 rebounds per game. He played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Boston Celtics, and Orlando Magic. Representing LSU, Davis was selected in the second round of the 2007 NBA Draft. He played for the Celtics during their 2008 NBA championship run. Ja Rule Accused Of Cursing The New York Knicks

The New York Knicks’ prospects of winning their first NBA Championship since 1973 have been allegedly cursed by Ja Rule. The Knicks just went up 2-0 on the Indiana Pacers in the second round of the NBA playoffs on Wednesday night. Despite the win, some fans are worried that Ja Rule has apparently cursed their title chances. This is a major development for Knicks fans, who have their best team in a long time with a legit chance to make the Eastern Conference finals and maybe even the NBA finals.

The coveted Larry O’Brien trophy was lifted and kissed by Ja before the game, and he was heard saying, “Champions only, baby. Go Knicks!” this is very concerning for Knicks fans. Fans immediately felt like Ja Rule had cursed the Knicks’ championship chances. They might be right because multiple instances in the game have resulted in a dubious rest of the series for New York despite being up 2-0 on the Indiana Pacers.

The video caused shock among viewers, with one saying, “Smh n**ga done cursed us wtf!” The innocent video of Ja Rule with the NBA championship trophy has caused Knicks fans to think the absolute worst. Another fan said, “This n**ga holds the chip and brunson and anoby [sic] get injured someone call fif to get the strap.” Another Knicks fan wrote: “knicks players started dropping like flies. i hate this n**ga.” Knicks superstar Jalen Brunson was injured during the game and didn’t play the entire second quarter. Although he was able to return to the game in the third quarter, he was not 100%. Additionally, OG Anunoby suffered what looked like a bad hamstring injury towards the end of the game.

Despite the win, the Knicks came out of the game very injured. The curse from Ja Rule might have been legit, unfortunately. Ja is no stranger to cursing NBA franchises. In 2019, following a poor halftime show that was heavily ridiculed by fans. He declared he was putting a curse on the Sacramento Kings and the Minnesota Timberwolves. The only remedy may be getting Ja’s longtime enemy, 50 Cent, to do something to lift the Knicks curse. All in all, the Knicks may have just been unlucky. It is not a good look if you are Ja Rule.

Shohei Ohtani’s Interpreter Facing 33 Years In Prison Over Stealing $17 Million

Ippei Mizuhara, the former interpreter and close friend of Shohei Ohtani, will enter a guilty plea to many federal charges after acknowledging that he stole around $17 million from the Dodgers star. As a result, he may spend more than three decades behind bars. Mizuhara agreed to plead guilty to one count of bank fraud and one count of filing a false tax return. The crime spanned multiple years. Additionally, the US Justice Department revealed on Wednesday that he would soon be sentenced.

United States Attorney Martin Estrada said of Ippei’s actions, “The extent of this defendant’s deception and theft is massive.” He continued, “He took advantage of his position of trust to take advantage of Mr. Ohtani and fuel a dangerous gambling habit. My office is committed to vindicating victims throughout our community and ensuring that wrongdoers face justice.” There is a maximum sentence of 30 years for the bank fraud accusation and three years for the tax allegation. Furthermore, there will most likely be a significant reduction in sentence length.

Shohei Ohtani’s Interpreter Gambling Controversy

Asserting that Mizuhara “exploited his relationship” with Shohei Ohtani, the government will concede that Mizuhara transferred about $17 million of Ohtani’s money covertly to settle gambling debts. According to reports, Mizuhara paid Ryan Boyajian, a cast member of Real Housewives of Orange County, who was an alleged collaborator with Matthew Bowyer, the accused illegal bookmaker. Reports say Boyajian and Bowyer would “clean” the illegal money at casinos in Las Vegas.

Ohtani, who is non-English speaking, depended on Mizuhara for almost everything when he first came to the United States from Japan. Mizuhara created the slugger’s bank account in 2018. The DOJ claims that Ippei started placing bets on athletic events in September 2021 and soon incurred a massive debt from a bookie but kept making bets. He then planned to siphon money from Shohei Ohtani’s finances to settle debts and keep betting. In conclusion, Ippei Mizuhara will be arranged on May 14th.

Josh Hart Hilariously Lets Reggie Miller Know The Knicks Crowd Is Chanting “F—You Reggie!”

The New York Knicks are up 2-0 on the Indiana Pacers after another thrilling win in Madison Square Garden. Like always, the Knicks crowd provided a great atmosphere and were extremely active during the game. The Knicks and Pacers have a storied rivalry, and the series feels like it means something to both team’s fans beyond the playoffs. Pacers legend and Hall of Famer Reggie Miller was back at Madison Square Garden to call the game, and it was a big deal for Knicks fans. Reggie was a thorn in the side of the Knicks in the 90s, and the crowd made sure to give him a warm welcome. Knicks guard Josh Hart had to let Reggie know.

As the Knicks began to assert their dominance in the game’s final minutes, the New York fans decided to add their unique touch to the proceedings. They chose to shower Reggie Miller once again, a gesture that was both humorous and a testament to their passion for the game. Miller, who had been flown in by TNT for Game 2, was calling the Nuggets and Timberwolves series, which had an extended break until Friday’s Game 3. The crowd chanted in unison, “F*** you Reggie!” Reggie and the broadcast crew were oblivious to the chants because of their headsets, so Josh Hart went over to Reggie during a dead ball and hilariously let the Pacers legend know what was up.

Josh Hart Alerts Reggie Miller T MSG Crowds Hilarious Chant

You can hear Josh Hart drop the f-bomb while letting Reggie know. The moment was just another highlight in what has been an entertaining playoff from the New York Knicks. The games at MSG have been a show. The atmosphere and passion of the fans make the games feel special. Reggie Miller being back at MSG was just another fun wrinkle in the proceedings. He et up with his old frenemy Spike Lee, and even Ben Stiller jokingly gave him the middle finger while passing him by.

It’s good times in New York, but there are some major worries for the Knicks. Jalen Brunson left the game in the first quarter with a foot injury but was able to return in the second half. Knicks defensive stopper OG Anunoby left the game in the fourth quarter with what appeared to be a hamstring injury. That will be a major blow for the Knicks if he has to miss time. The Knicks’ big man Mitchell Robinson is currently out, and he has the same injury he received from Joel Embiid’s dirty play. Overall, whoever is playing for the Knicks will leave everything on the floor, and the fans will be 100% behind them, chanting, “F*** you Reggie.”

Patrick Beverley Investigated By Police After Throwing Ball At Fan

Patrick Beverley’s actions in Indiana have left many surprised and concerned. The Bucks guard, known for his aggressive playstyle, had a night filled with controversies as the Indiana Pacers eliminated his team from the playoffs. Beverley, who often engages in trash-talking, was seen throwing a ball not once but twice at fans standing behind the Bucks bench. His post-game behavior was equally unexpected. He expelled a reporter from the locker room for not subscribing to his podcast. The situation has taken a serious turn, with the police now involved in the ball-throwing incident.

The NBA player is currently being investigated by Indianapolis police. They have stated that they are looking into the ball-throwing incident involving Patrick Beverley. A representative for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has confirmed that, on May 2, after Beverley threw a basketball at Indiana fans twice during the Bucks’ playoff game against the Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, investigators did in fact file a case report. The representative claims that the report was subsequently sent to investigators. The investigators are currently attempting to obtain additional video from the arena and speak with those who were involved. The representative went on to say that as soon as the investigation is complete, detectives are supposed to forward their results to prosecutors.

Patrick Beverley Has Apolologized For Ball Throwing Tantrum

Patrick Beverley has not yet made any public comments regarding the criminal inquiry, although he did apologize for his acts and labeled them “inexcusable” earlier this week on his podcast, “The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone.” He explained that he did it because the trash talk by fans within the arena went too far. However, he restated that he ought not to have thrown the ball into the crowd. There has still not been a punishment from the NBA, which may be waiting for the criminal investigation to be completed.

Patrick Beverley went too far. When Draymond Green is saying you went too far, you went too far. Beverley has a history of being a sore loser and letting his emotions get the better. Just ask Chris Paul. Hopefully, the investigation isnt too severe as it was just a ball. Overall, it would be a shame for this to get blown out of proportion. The NBA should suspend and fine him and call it a day.

LeBron James And JJ Redick Clown Colin Cowherd Over Backwards Hat Comments

LeBron James and JJ Redick have been collaborating on their fantastic Mind The Game podcast. The NBA legend and NBA veteran discusses basketball in an in-depth way, giving fans an idea of the behind-the-scenes intricacies of the game. They dissect specific plays and break down what makes players like Steph Curry so good. If you know anything about LeBron, then you know he has plenty of detractors. Haters are going to hate you, especially when you have been great for that long. It’s expected for LeBron, but now JJ Redick has caught a stray from Colin Cowherd.

When JJ Redick, an ESPN commentator, found himself in the center of Colin Cowherd’s protracted backward hat rant, he couldn’t help but chuckle. Cowherd, for years, has been a proponent of the idea that if you wear a backward hat, you aren’t a serious person. He primarily used to talk about Matt Stafford, when he played quarterback for the Detroit Lions, who wore a backward hat when he was not in the game. Now Cowheards law of hats has hit JJ Redick, and he and LeBron find it hilarious

LeBron James and JJ Redick have a Good Laugh At Colin Cowherd

Cowherd offered commentary on the most recent edition of Redick’s podcast with LeBron James on The Herd on Wednesday. Because Redick had his hat on backward during the interview, the radio host said that he “looks like a guy that’s gonna move my couch.” Cowherd continued, saying it’s a bad look for somebody who wants to be an NBA coach. JJ replied with a dismissive “lol.” Then his pod teammate LeBron joined in with his tweet, posting two current head coaches in the NBA wearing backward hats.

JJ Redick is on the shortlist of candidates for the Lakers head coaching job after Darvin Ham was fired last Friday. Redick has had teams like the Charlotte Hornets reach out and want to interview him for their coaching positions. Whatever the case, JJ might make a good NBA coach. His relationship with one LeBron James might get him in the door for the Lakers.

Fat Joe Fires Back At Chris Broussard After Catching A Stray Over Jalen Brunson

Fat Joe has responded to Chris Broussard using his popularity to prove a point about Jalen Brunson during a segment about the New York Knicks on FS1’s First Things First. The long-time sports pundit remarked that Joe clearly isn’t a top 5 rapper, just as Brunson isn’t a top 5 player.

“I’m not falling for this because he does it in New York versus Sacramento, that he’s going to be a superstar,” he began. “That’s like saying Fat Joe is a top 5 rapper of all time. Fat Joe is dope. Fat Joe has some anthems and classics, but he’s not Top 5. Jalen Brunson is dope, but he’s not a superstar yet.” In response to the clip, Joe wrote: “I think i caught a stray.”

The back and forth comes after Joe made headlines for suggesting that Jalen Brunson has the opportunity to go down as the greatest player in franchise history, last week. Following the team’s win over the Philadelphia 76ers, Joe put him in a category with Carmelo Anthony, Walt Clyde Frazier, and Patrick Ewing during an interview with TMZ. “[Jalen’s] so close to being the greatest Knick ever,” he said. “So close, and in such short time.” Following Tuesday night’s win over the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of their second-round matchup, Joe reiterated the take on Twitter. He wrote: “I told y’all Jalen Brunson might be the greatest Knick of all time”
