Jack Harlow In “White Men Can’t Jump” Trailer: Watch

Jack Harlow is a newer name to the industry, but he’s been all over the place the last few years. The rapper has been dropping hit after hit, and half the time, it seems like you can’t escape him. Last year, it was practically impossible to go on social media without hearing Harlow’s hit song “First Class.” Every TikToker under the sun used it at some point. Jack Harlow, however, seems to want to branch out beyond music. The Kentucky native has been stepping into more acting roles recently. He just appeared on Lil Dicky’s FX show Dave, where he played himself. Now, Harlow is taking on a more substantial role in the new Hulu remake of White Men Can’t Jump.

Jack Harlow is a rapper, singer, and songwriter hailing from Louisville, Kentucky. He first gained widespread recognition with his 2020 hit single “What’s Poppin,” which topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and has since been certified quadruple platinum. It also earned him his first Grammy nomination. Harlow’s musical style blends elements of hip hop, R&B, and pop, and his lyrics often touch on themes of personal ambition, self-discovery, and social commentary. In recent years, he has been nominated for several more Grammys, including one for his hit “First Class,” which samples Fergie’s “Glamourous.” In addition to his music, Harlow is also known for his fashion sense and has been featured in several high-profile fashion campaigns.

Jack Harlow, A White Girl At Whole Foods

The teaser for White Men Can’t Jump premiered back in February to pretty mixed reactions on social media. Some thought the film looked pretty good and were intrigued by it. “Why does White Men Can’t Jump with Jack Harlow actually look really good…” one tweet read. Others, however, felt that the trailer failed to capture the magic of the original film. “Sorry, I don’t see the same personality and charisma that Snipes and Harrelson had,” one user complained. “I’ll pass. Hope I’m wrong.”

The new trailer gives us a better glimpse at both Jack Harlow and Sinqua Walls, who star in the lead roles. Both characters are in need of money, so they devise a plan to enter a basketball competition that could win them $50,000. New footage also shows the characters’ strained interpersonal relationships as they are both chided for having their heads in the clouds. White Men Can’t Jump will be released in mid-May on Hulu. Jack Harlow Is A Trash-Talking Sharpshooter In The Latest ‘White Men Can’t Jump’ Trailer

Bad news for the Jack Harlow haters — which, apparently, includes fellow white rapper/hooper Lil Dicky — but the White Men Can’t Jump remake looks GREAT in its new trailer. All the hallmarks of the original remain intact: the trash talk, the friction between the two protagonists (and between them and their ladies), and even the classic Los Angeles hoop locations, including the “Watts Oasis” court (fire), the world-famous Venice Beach courts (cool, but open runs down there be bunk sometimes), and Angel’s Gate Park in San Pedro (trash, don’t play there unless you feel like chasing your ball into the Pacific Ocean).

Everything gets a modern update as well; Jack comments that his opposite, Sinqua Walls’, stereotyping him for being white is outdated (he was really stereotyping the ‘fit, which… understandable), the hustlers trade cash via apps (Jack even trash talks Sinqua’s choice of apps), and the famous Marques Johnson “Imma get my other gun” gets an upgrade courtesy of Elon Musk.

Also making appearances in the film are fellow rapper-turned-actor Vince Staples (my new favorite thanks to his recurring role on Abbott Elementary, although you could see the potential even in his five minutes in Dope) and the late, great Lance Reddick, as well as Teyana Taylor and Laura Harrier. There’s really something for everybody. This writer, at least, will be seated, as the kids say, on May 19, when the movie debuts on Hulu. Check out the trailer above.

Jack Harlow’s Acting Debut In ‘White Men Can’t Jump’ Is Nearly Here As Hulu Released First-Look Trailer

Jack Harlow’s aspirations to become a beloved industry baby is underway. As the “First Class” prepares for tonight’s Grammy Awards, where hopes to win big, Hulu just released the first look at its upcoming film White Men Can’t Jump remake starring the musician.

Despite appearing in several commercials and documentaries, this film marks Harlow’s acting debut. He has big shoes to fill stepping into the role of quirky street basketball player Billy Hoyle. While Harlow certainly has the charisma of the character nailed, he still needs to showcase another side playing off his co-star actor Sinqua Walls (Teen Wolf, Power, The Breaks), who plays his athletic partner in crime, Sidney Deane.

The original beloved 1992 film starred actors Woody Harrelson (who originally played Billy Hoyle) and Wesley Snipes (who originally played Sidney Deane) quickly became a cultural fixture. But, even though this is Harlow’s first significant role, director Charles Kidd II, professionally known as Calmatic, who has worked with Harlow in the past, isn’t worried.

In an interview with Esquire, Calmatic confidently said, “Man, listen, after this film, I don’t think Jack Harlow is going to be a rapper.”

Calmatic later clarified his statement to say, “I mean, I’m sure he is not going to give up rap, but he’s definitely going to be a Mark Wahlberg—where I think people are going to know him more for acting than his music,” adding, “And so I’m happy that he got his feet wet with White Men Can’t Jump so I can take a little responsibility for that. I’m excited for the world to see him and get the full scope of him as an artist.”

The original film, written and directed by Ron Shelton, came out in 1992. The film starred Woody Harrelson as basketball player Billy Hoyle, who teams up with Wesley Snipes’ Sidney Deane to make money by hustling people on the court. The first-look trailer immerses viewers into the world of recreational basketful and is filled with professional references.

Jack Harlow’s ‘White Men Can’t Jump’ Remake Has Cast Wesley Snipes’ Role — But It’s Not Quavo

We learned last month that Jack Harlow has already been confirmed to star in a remake of the 1992 hoops hustler classic White Men Can’t Jump. While Harlow is a lock to play Woody Harrelson’s Billy Hoyle role, Quavo had thrust his name into the ring to play Wesley Snipes’ Sidney Deane character. In a seemingly random encounter with a TMZ paparazzo, Quavo said, “I think they need to call me so me and Jack Harlow can do it. I need to play Wesley Snipes’ role. Huncho and Harlow, let’s do it.” While the above-average basketball skills that Quavo flashed at last year’s NBA All-Star Weekend Celebrity helped notch him a role as a playable character on the NBA 2K22 video game, he doesn’t really have much of an acting resume to speak of.

To be fair, neither did Harlow, who apparently wowed enough in his audition for the “First Class” rapper to claim the starring role in producer Kenya Barris’ (Blackish) reboot. But Quavo officially won’t be joining Harlow in the film as 37-year old Sinqua Walls — who you may know from Teen Wolf, The Breaks, and Friday Night Lights — has been cast in Wesley Snipes’ Sidney Deane role, according to Deadline. While the pipe dream of a Huncho and Harlow silver screen pairing was appealing, having an established actor as a co-star is probably a better way for the film to be taken seriously.
