J. Stalin Drops Long-Awaited Sequel, “Prenuptial Agreement 2”

J. Stalin has finally released a follow-up to his 2010 mixtape, Prenuptial Agreement, 13 years later. The Bay Area rapper shared Prenuptial Agreement 2 on Friday.

The new project features guest appearances from Philthy Rich, Jackboy, Jane Handcock, and more. As for producers, Stalin teamed up with Juneonnabeat and The Mekanix, among others.

The original mixtape was a pivotal moment in popularizing mob music from the Bay Area.

“Mob music is sinister basses and sinister snares,” Stalin has explained, as noted by Audible Treats. “It’s all in the drums and snares and it’s real bassy. It’s a distinctive sound, created by producers like DJ Duo, Ant Banks, Mike D, and Rick Rock. When the first Prenup came out, hyphy was what was popping in the Bay Area. Mob rappers like me, we made some hyphy tracks, but hyphy was kid-like to us. When we did hyphy, we mixed it with mob sounds and harder lyrics. Mob was our version of what drill is now. Prenup brought the Bay sound back to mob music. Hyphy wasn’t as popular by 2010, and everyone was saying, ‘What are we gonna do now, how is the sound gonna be now?’ When I dropped Prenuptial Agreement, the whole city knew: ‘this is the new sound.’”

“Girls Trip 2” Is A Go, Movie Will Reportedly Film In Ghana

Good news for fans of the 2017 film Girls Trip – a sequel is finally on the way, according to writer/director/producer Tracy Oliver. The news came on Monday (January 23) as the creative was promoting her Amazon Prime series, Harlem.

While speaking with the press, she revealed that GT2 has officially been greenlit. Details are mostly tightly under wraps. However, she did reveal that the upcoming project will take audiences to an exciting new setting – Africa.

Oliver joked that her co-producer, Will Packer, “might kill [her]” as she spilled the tea. “We’re looking to set it in Ghana,” she specifically noted. Shortly after, Harlem actress Shoniqua Shandai provided another potential hit, yelling out “Afrochella!” upon hearing the good news.

Afterward, the director gave confirmation that her sequel will see the leading ladies attend the Coachella-inspired festival. In the past, artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Uncle Waffles have all taken the stage there. As a result, it’s entirely likely Girls Trip 2 will be jam-packed with infectious music.

As Okay Player notes, the production timeline is presently unknown. Seeing as the six-year anniversary of the original movie is quickly approaching, though, fans are eager for the creators to begin making moves as soon as possible.

The first Girls Trip grossed an impressive $140M at the box office worldwide with a $16M budget. Malcolm D. Lee sat in the director’s chair, and Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, Regina Hall, and Tiffany Haddish were all cast as leads.

The latter of the four became a household name in comedy as a result of her work, and even previously admitted to using her paycheck from the film to pay off her house.

Prior to finding fame, Haddish experienced homelessness and didn’t want to risk repeating her past. At one point, the actress says she was living comfortably on $500 a month to ensure she could pay off her property.

Mekhi Phifer Shoots Down The Idea Of An “8 Mile” Sequel

Mekhi Phifer says that he has no interest in a potential sequel to Eminem’s classic 2002 film, 8 Mile. Phifer recently discussed the idea of a second film with TMZ.

“Sometimes it’s best to just leave it alone,” Phifer explained. “Once you make a classic, no reason to fool around with it.”

He added that there hasn’t even been any conversation on the topic and that it “probably” is never going to happen. Phifer also says that Eminem wouldn’t be interested in starring in it either.

“Leave the classics alone and it’ll be all good. Just live with the 8 Mile. The story we told is a story. It could be interesting but I wouldn’t be in it, and I’m sure Eminem wouldn’t be in it either.”

Phifer also admitted that he doesn’t know whether Eminem will act again, but does say he keeps up with him.

Before wrapping up, Phifer celebrated Eminem’s recent induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

8 Mile hit theaters back in November 2002. It opened at No. 1 at the box office in the US having grossed $51.3 million in its opening weekend. It eventually reached a total of $242.9 million worldwide.

In addition to being a commercial success, 8 Mile was also well-received by critics. “Lose Yourself” from the soundtrack to the film won an Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 75th Academy Awards.

The film, which is semi-autobiographical of Eminem’s own life, follows a rising white rapper in the city of Detroit.

As for Eminem’s music career, the rapper recently released his second greatest hits collection, Curtain Call 2.
