Pras Requests Sentencing Hearing In Foreign Conspiracy Case

In April of last year, Pras was found guilty of ten charges related to an alleged international conspiracy to help Malaysian businessman Jho Low and the Chinese government gain access to United States officials. He faces up to 20 years in prison for alleged conspiracy to defraud the US, witness tampering, and acting as an unregistered agent of a foreign government. Now, according to new legal documents obtained by AllHipHop, he’s made a request for a sentencing hearing.

Reportedly, Pras and his legal team have proposed a December 20 deadline for a Memorandum in Aid of Sentencing. This is a document written by a defense attorney to convince a judge to give their client the lowest possible sentence. They also ask that the sentencing hearing itself take place on January 10, 13, or 14 of 2025.

Pras’ latest request comes just weeks after he was denied a retrial. He’d previously accused his attorney of using generative AI for his closing arguments, resulting in several errors. The program attributed some of Diddy’s song lyrics to Pras, for example, among other mistakes. U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly argued that Pras failed to show how this could have impacted the outcome of the trial. “Notably, the content derived from the AI program did not relate to any evidence in the case, only general sympathetic statements and one lyrical quote,” Kollar-Kotelly said.

The request also follows Lauryn Hill’s last-minute Fugees North American tour cancelation. She attributed this to false narratives created by the media. Pras, on the other hand, blamed her “reputation” for arriving late or not at all hurting ticket sales. What do you think of Pras requesting a sentencing hearing in January of next year? Blueface Receives Four-Year Prison Sentence For Probation Violation

Blueface has been behind bars since January when he turned himself in for an alleged probation violation. Today, he was scheduled to appear in court for a sentencing hearing, where he’d finally learn his fate. The hearing was originally expected to take place late last month but was ultimately delayed, leaving the rapper’s fans and loved ones more eager than ever to see what takes place. It was possible that he would be released and be able to finally go home to his family. Unfortunately, however, that’s not what played out.

In anticipation, Blueface’s father Johnathan Porter Sr. hopped online to share a heartfelt message with supporters. He asked them to pray for him and his son and expressed hope that the judge would go easy on him in court. Porter Sr. later provided followers with an update, according to DJ Akademiks, revealing that Blueface was sentenced to four years in prison.

Blueface’s Father Reacts To His Son’s Sentence

For obvious reasons, he appeared heartbroken and wished his son luck. Blueface’s father isn’t the only one of his parents who was pushing for his release, however. His mother Karlissa Saffold has also been particularly vocal about her son’s legal issues. She even requested the help of Kim Kardashian earlier this year. Saffold told TMZ last month that she has a welcome home party planned for Blueface, which will have to be pushed back by quite a bit.

Blueface is certainly a polarizing figure, but social media users were also hoping that he would return home sooner rather than later, if only for the sake of his youngest child. Chrisean Jr.’s mother Chrisean Rock is also currently incarcerated and might be looking at an eight-year sentence for drug charges. What do you think of Blueface’s father revealing that the rapper was sentenced to four years in prison? Tory Lanez Sentencing Possibly Delayed Until February

His guilty verdict may have been delivered, but Tory Lanez isn’t giving up the fight for his freedom. The singer was recently found guilty of three counts related to the 2020 shooting involving Megan Thee Stallion. Lanez has maintained his innocence throughout, but a jury of his peers believed otherwise. Megan has shied away from the public since the conclusion of the trial. Since revealing she was shot following a party at Kylie Jenner’s home, the Traumazine rapper has been ridiculed by Lanez’s supporters.

Yesterday (January 10), Rolling Stone court reporter Nancy Dillon shared that Lanez would return to court today. She stated this hearing was centered on the rapper retaining a new lawyer, David Kenner, following the exit of George Mgdesyan.

Kenner famously represented Suge Knight in the 1990s in a robbery case.

“Tory’s dad, Sonstar Peterson, is here with his wife as well. We’re still waiting to go in,” Dillon reported. “Sonstar got very emotional at the conviction and shouted at the prosecutors before he was escorted out of the building.”

“Emotional” is an understatement, as videos of Sonstar went viral after he erupted in the courtroom during Lanez’s verdict. He swore to take down Roc Nation, as well, for their alleged involvement in the case.

Meanwhile, Dillon added that there was confusion this morning regarding Lanez being transported to the court. Initial reports claimed he “refused” the ride, but it was later revealed there was an issue with his wristband.

Additionally, it looks like Lanez’s sentencing has been delayed.

“Sounds like there’s an agreement to postpone Tory Lanez’s sentencing a month so Kenner can file the motion for new trial,” Dillon wrote. “That would push sentencing to late February. Waiting for judge to approve this on the record.”
