Angel Reese Claims WNBA Salary Is Not Enough To Pay Her Rent

It goes without saying that Angel Reese has managed to make a name for herself with her successful basketball career. According to her, however, her WNBA salary is simply not enough to cover her living expenses. During a recent chat with fans, she revealed that she pays a whopping $8K for rent. She said her salary is roughly $74K, meaning that she’s spending $22K more than she earns from the WNBA on rent alone.

“I’m living above my means,” Reese joked. “Hating pays them bills, baby. I just hope you know the WNBA don’t pay my bills at all. I don’t even think that pays one of my bills. Literally, I’m trying to think of my rent for where I stay at [in Chicago]. I’m gonna do the math real quick. I don’t even know my [WNBA] salary… Babe, if y’all thought… I wouldn’t even be able to eat a sandwich with [the WNBA salary]. I wouldn’t even be able to live.”

Angel Reese Gets Candid About Her Living Expenses

While Reese has multiple other streams of income, her remarks have still earned her a great deal of backlash in DJ Akademiks’ comments section. Many Instagram users argue that she should find a less expensive place to rent, or cut back her spending in some other way. “First off why do you live somewhere that’s $8000 a month rent,” one commenter wonders. “No reason you should pay 8,000 for rent,” someone else claims. Others are coming to Reese’s defense, and noting how she’s free to spend her money however she chooses.

Angel Reese Reacts To Concerns Over Her WNBA Salary

Angel Reese has addressed the drama surrounding her salary with the WNBA. Appearing on ESPN, she explained that she’s not too worried about her compensation and instead, she plays basketball for the love of the game. She’s currently playing on a four-year deal with the Chicago Sky worth $343K.

“I mean, obviously, people thought me leaving college–I would take a huge pay gap and pay drop,” she began. “I wasn’t getting paid in college, so that check that I do get here is a bonus, I mean, being able to play for what, four to five months, and get $75,000 on top of the other endorsements that I’m doing, I think it’s a plus for me, I mean, I play the game I love, not for the money, I play because I love basketball and genuinely love basketball. And now that I’m a pro and being able to continue to work with these brands long term, I think that’s something people don’t really realize.”

DDG Reveals His Massively Monthly Salary & How He & Halle Bailey Manage Finances

DDG revealed that he earns over six figures every month from his work as a recording artist as well as a YouTube content creator. He detailed his finances during an interview with The Shade Room but refused to offer any exact numbers.

“I’m going to give you a wide range. I don’t want people to pocket-watch too crazy. On a low month, I’ll pull in a little hundred piece [$100,000]. On a high month, we can go anywhere from five [$500,000] and up,” DDG told the outlet. “I work very hard. A lot of people don’t give me credit for what I do, but being relevant in the space that I’m in for as long as I have, a lot of people look at me as an OG. Even though I’m 26, but I’ve been doing it since I was 19. I inspired a lot of the new creators that we are seeing now.”

DDG began his career by dropping out of Central Michigan University and working on his YouTube content full-time. Soon after, he signed with Epic Records and began work on his music career as well. More recently, he and his partner, Halle Bailey, welcomed their first child together. Further speaking with The Shade Room, DDG explained how he and his partner manage their finances as a couple. “50/50 is cool when it comes to … nah, not 50/50,” DDG said. “I pay for a lot of stuff. I don’t think 50/50 is a thing when you have money. Me and her have money so it’s a little different. For the most part, as a man, you know she will never pay for dinner, she will never pay for an Uber or trips and flights and stuff. I feel like that’s definitely my job. When it comes to our child, it’s a little different. We might split a night nurse here and there, you know what I mean? It ain’t even about the money, it’s just the principle, you know? The baby [is] 50/50.”
