She wrote: “He’s 36 & In End He Came after me, Till we met in the middle. He’s Consistent one, I’m The Skittish one. We love each other…. LADIES NEVER GIVE UP.” 

November 2022: Rumor Had It

On November 1, 2022, Cher posted a somewhat cryptic tweet. She wrote: “One part of my life is SO AMAZING.” While some fans were confused, many were happy for whatever (or whoever) the icon’s tweet was alluding to. Rumors began to swirl when Cher was spotted with AE on a night out with rapper Tyga. The pair were photographed leaving a restaurant in Los Angeles hand-in-hand. According to TMZ, the trio had dinner at Craig’s, and after midnight, Edwards and Cher rode in the same car heading to The Nice Guy for a bit more fun. 

This night out unsurprisingly immediately sparked speculation about the nature of their relationship. A day later, Cher confirmed the dating rumors by posting a picture of her new beau, with the caption: “Alexander” followed by a heart emoji. While some fans shared their support for her new relationship, others shared concerns about Edwards’ intentions. She responded with a tweet, writing: “As we All Know…I WASNT BORN YESTERDAY, & What I Know For Sure…There Are No Guarantees. Anytime you make a Choice You Take a Chance. As the holiday season approached, Cher and AE were spotted together more frequently. The couple were often seen attending events and enjoying intimate dinners. Evidently, their chemistry was undeniable, and the couple appeared to be genuinely happy. For Christmas, Cher and AE gifted fans some pictures that immediately sent everyone into a frenzy. Cher had posted a picture of the rapper sporting green flame nails while holding a pear-shaped diamond ring. The caption read: “THERE R NO WORDS, Alexander, A.E.” This sparked engagement rumors, but Cher followed that post with another cheeky tweet. She wrote: “I posted this cause his nails are so cool.”

January 2023: Love In The Limelight

New Year’s came with a bang, as Cher posted a picture of her and AE together while she was wearing the ring on her middle finger. The picture featured Edwards kissing Cher on the cheek and holding her hand. In March, Cher shared with E! News that she was working on some music with AE. She stated: “I’m going to England to make two albums. Some of the songs, Alexander gave me, so I’m pretty excited about that. He’s a producer and a writer and he does everything, so I’m happy about that.” The support for the couple’s relationship was growing by the day. 

However, despite their strong bond, it seemed Cher and Edwards had already hit a wall in their relationship. In May 2023, an insider told E! News that the beloved couple had called it quits. The insider said that while the couple had split weeks ago, they remain amicable.  However, four months after the supposed breakup, Cher and Edwards were spotted by Page Six holding hands as they headed to dinner with some friends. October 2023: Cher And AE Celebrate One Year Together

In October, Cher and AE were photographed attending the Valentino fashion show at Paris Fashion Week. Cher shared a picture of herself and Edwards heading to an H&M premiere party for her new Christmas album, which Edwards contributed to. Speaking to PEOPLE, Cher reflected on their relationship following their first anniversary. “No matter what happens, I love being with him,” she said. “He makes me laugh, and we have fun. What I learned is that it’s never too late… But we’ve been together a year, and if it was just a year, it would’ve been worth it. I’ve had the best time.”

December 2023: Sweet Love

Cher closed out the year with an interview on the popular Chicken Shop Date with host Amelia Dimoldenberg. Cher spoke openly about her relationship with Edwards and even gave the host some dating tips and advice. When asked if she fell for Edwards quickly, Cher said:

Kicking off another new year, Cher assured fans that her relationship was as strong as ever. She posted a picture of her sitting on Edwards’ lap as she gently touched his chin. The picture was captioned: “Love is love.” In March, the couple returned to Paris, reveling in the city’s fashion shows together. By the end of the month, they were back in Los Angeles, attending the 3rd annual Attorney Ben Crump EJN Awards. April brought another public appearance, as they traveled to Milan for Dolce & Gabbana’s 40th anniversary party. 

Their travels continued with a stay in Monaco, and in late May, Cher and AE took a helicopter to St. Tropez. Moreover, the pair were spotted walking hand-in-hand through the seaside town on their way to lunch at Club 55. For her 78th birthday, Cher was surprised with a small party in a private jet. Yung Miami and Southside, a prolific record producer, began dating sometime in 2018. Their relationship first became public knowledge in December, when Yung Miami hinted that she was in a relationship. In the now-deleted video, she showed off the expensive gifts she had received from her man to her followers on Instagram. She revealed that she had “f*cked around and fell in love.” Although fans were happy for her, there was no indication of who her man was. They did not have to wait too long though. Under an Instagram photo of Southside’s, Yung Miami commented: “Mine.” That was enough of a confirmation, and soon after, the couple was spotted on a tropical vacation.

December 18, 2018: Over Already?

Two weeks after their relationship went public, Southside announced he was no longer with Yung Miami. On December 18, Southside jumped on Instagram Live and confirmed that the two were no longer an item. “These rap hoes be lame as f*ck,” he said. “You feeling yourself. Stop feeling yourself… Nah I don’t go with that hoe no more. I don’t fuck with that hoe. I’m good. I’m all the way cool on it.”

He went on a long rant and soon claimed that the City Girls rapper had said she was single in an IG Live. He stated: “Nobody don’t give a f*ck if you single. Who cares? No one is going to wife you, sweetie. They see what you really look like without your wig on and shit, they’re not going to want to f*ck with you.” Evidently, Southside’s hurtful comments were met with backlash, and many came to Yung Miami’s defense. Fans commented that Southside was simply being overly emotional and airing his grievances in an unseemly manner. Surprisingly, the couple reconciled and reunited a week later.

According to Black America Web, following Tank’s accusations, Moniece Slaughter told her side of things. She sat with Electronic Urban Report to discuss her version of events. She stated: “My family and I are trying to figure it out. He knows my mom. He knows my dad. Aside from being disgusted and confused, it’s very disheartening. So I don’t know what made him do it… I’m disgusted by those allegations. I’m somebody’s mom and he’s got daughters. Would you want somebody to lie on your daughters like that? I mean really, all I have to say about the whole situation is this, I was 19. Things happen. I made a mistake.”

Moniece Slaughter also addressed the stalking and vandalism claims made by Tank. She admitted to throwing a brick with a note at his window. Concerning the pregnancy, she said: “I was, and he said in the interview that I called him three days later, but it had actually been months since we had spoken to one another, and I wouldn’t want to have a baby by someone who treats women this way.” Moniece eventually stated that she had aborted the pregnancy because Tank didn’t seem like a good person to have a child with.

The Tank-Moniece Slaughter Resurgence 

In 2017, Moniece Slaughter opened up about her hookup with Tank. She spoke to All Def Digital about the nature of their former relationship. Slaughter confessed that she had gone after Tank, even after she was warned not to date him. After that, she handed a flier with her number written on it to a woman and asked her to give it to Joseph. He called her the very next day and despite the long distance, they became friends. They called and wrote letters, and in one of them, Justine promised to marry Joseph one day. Sadly, they drifted apart. 

Years later, after Joseph had made a name for himself as Rev Run, and his rap career had blown up, the two miraculously reunited. Fate seemed to have had plans for them, using Joseph’s cousin and Justine’s sister to reconnect the long-lost lovers. Soon after, Justine and Rev Run began attending church together and soon started a relationship. While Rev Run had been married and freshly divorced, he entered the relationship with an open heart, ready to love. Evidently, it paid off as they’ve been together ever since.

1994-1997: Building A Family Of Stars

The culmination of their love story took place on June 25, 1994, when Rev Run and Justine exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony. This marked the beginning of a lifelong commitment, and the couple embraced the journey ahead with enthusiasm and dedication. Along with Rev Run came his three children from his previous marriage: Vanessa, Angela, and Joseph “Jojo” Ward. Justine welcomed them with open arms. The couple went on to have their first child together a year later — Daniel Dwayne “Diggy” Simmons III, on March 21, 1995. As their family grew, so did their public presence. The Simmons family opened their doors to the public in 2005 through the reality television series Run’s House. Rev Run became one of the first rap OGs to have their own reality show. Run’s House famously ran for four years and provided viewers with a candid and heartwarming glimpse into their lives. Altogether, the show showcased their daily joys, challenges, and their hilarious family dynamics. The reviews were positive, with fans loving the representation, emphasis on faith, and the enduring bonds that held the Simmons family together. 

Rev Run and Justine were open and honest about everything. They made a point to show the world everything they were going through. In 2006, the couple welcomed Victoria Anne Simmons. She was born through cesarean section. Victoria sadly passed away shortly after birth due to omphalocele, a birth defect that causes organs to grow outside the body. The entire birth and death were documented by the camera crew of the show, a vulnerable leap at the time. In September 2007, the couple adopted a baby and named her Miley Justine Simmons.

2017: All About The Washingtons

After Run’s House came to an end in 2009, the family pretty much waned from the public eye. Almost 10 years later, Rev Run announced that he and Justine would be starring in a Netflix series titled All About The Washingtons. The series was a short-lived, but lighthearted family sitcom that was a fictionalized take on their real-life dynamic. Rev Run played a retired rapper who was now navigating the challenges of being a stay-at-home dad. On the other hand, Justine’s character pursued her career. The series explored humorous situations, family dynamics, and the timeless theme of balancing work and home life. While it was loved by audiences, and brought the couple back into the spotlight, it was canceled after one season. 

2020 – Present: Old School Love: And Why It Works

In 2020, the couple wrote and published a book titled Old School Love: And Why It Works. The book was a compelling and brutally honest exploration of their relationship. It delved into the timeless principles of love, respect, and commitment that have sustained their marriage for decades. Through personal anecdotes, insightful reflections, and the Holy Scriptures, Rev Run, and Justine Simmons offered invaluable wisdom on nurturing relationships with authenticity, communication, and a steadfast dedication to each other’s happiness. 

The book was a massive success, not only catapulting them to newfound levels of attention but also reaching the people who they believed most needed it. In an interview with EBONY, they revealed the inspirations for the book. Moreover, they shared their hopes for the book. “Joey and I wanted to help people in their marriages, so much so that we wanted to give them our all and say, ‘This is what we are doing and, hopefully, if you try it this way, it could help you in your own marriage,’” Justine said. 

“We were blessed to have mentors that were trying to make their marriages work, so we had that early on to look at and see how to make our own marriage work. We just wanted to make sure we gave you all the lessons we’ve learned over the years,” she continued. The couple and family have since continued to thrive welcoming grandchildren. Above all, it seems Rev Run and Justine Simmons are the epitome of a joyous and thriving power couple.
