Travis Scott Shatters Drake’s Ticket Sales Record With His “Circus Maximus” Tour

Travis Scott and his Circus Maximus tour have broken the record for most ticket sales on a rap tour. Drake originally set the record with 1.3 million tickets sold to his It’s All A Blur Tour in 2023. Scott officially beat that mark on Tuesday, reaching 1.5 million in ticket sales, as reported by Complex. Notably, Drake will likely still have the highest-grossing tour, earning $320.5 million during his run of shows. Current figures are not yet available; however, Scott was only at $154.6 million when he reached 1.2 million tickets, earlier this month.

The feat comes after Scott reflected on opening for The Weeknd for an arena tour in 2015 during his show, last Friday. “This man right here let me open up for two tours when I put out my first album,” he said to the audience after bringing out the Hurry Up Tomorrow singer. “He gave me my first arena tour ever. If it wasn’t for this guy right now, I probably wouldn’t be on this stage right now.”

As for Drake, he also recently got sentimental on stage. Attending a “Nostalgia Party” at a nightclub in Toronto, he reflected on dealing with fake friends and betrayal in the industry. “One thing about Nostalgia, this party here, my real friends are definitely in the building,” he said at the event. “But I’m gonna tell you, you’re gonna come to a point in life where people you thought were friends, or people you thought were close to you, they might switch up, they might try fighting with you, they might stab you in the back, they might do a lot of things to you. You’ll come to that realization. Wherever you’re at in life, you’ve probably been there, and you’ll be there again. That’s how life is. But look, sometimes it’s you and you alone, by yourself. Sometimes it’s you alone with your thoughts.”

Scott will be wrapping up the Circus Maximus tour in New Zealand, later this month. Be on the lookout for further updates on Travis Scott and Drake on HotNewHipHop.

Beyonce Breaks Massive Concert Grossing Milestone

Everybody has been talking about the Renaissance Tour. After making its way across Europe Beyonce brought the show to North America and is making news every single night. One of the biggest reasons is the constant stream of celebrities showing up in attendance for every single show. Between Renaissance, Taylor Swift’s “Eras” Tour, and Drake’s “It’s All A Blur” tour there are hundreds of celebs showing up to see a concert every single night. In just the past few weeks alone everyone from Oprah to Kamala Harris and even Madonna have shown up to see Queen B perform.

Now after a recent series of shows at MetLife stadium Beyonce has added another massive record to her collection. She earned the highest-grossing concerts by a female artist in history with $16.5 million generated each night during her stay. After the news broke fans reached out to congratulate and praise Bey. “I don’t think y’all really understand she’s not even done with the tour yet,” one comment reads. “Her shows are good that lady dancing n singing for hours over the age 40 got 3kids and don’t look even a lil tired,” says another excited fan.

Beyonce Breaks Concert Grossing Record

Earlier this week Beyonce proved just how dedicated she is to bringing quality performances to her fans. Her show in Maryland was forced to start late due to weather delays. As a result, Beyonce decided to pay $100k herself in order to keep public transportation open for her fans.

Beyonce also found herself swept up in drama surrounding Lizzo recently. The “About Damn Time” singer was recently sued by former dancers and accused of creating a hostile working environment. Lizzo is one of the names listed in the Queens Remix of Bey’s hit song “Break My Soul” but in her first performance after the allegations were made public, Lizzo’s name was skipped over. Though she was ultimately returned to the performances many fans still see her being left out as a slight. What do you think of Beyonce’s newest record-breaking tour milestone? Let us know in the comment section below.

Drake Breaks Record With His “It’s All A Blur” Tour, Makes Over $5M In One Night

Drake set off on his “It’s All A Blur” tour alongside 21 Savage last month, and his recent performances in Washington broke a record. Reportedly, the artist earned more than $5 million each night at Capital One Arena, making him the first rapper ever to earn that much in a single arena performance. The feat is worth celebrating, though it’s unsurprising considering how well the tour has gone thus far. No stranger to success, Drake was also recently named Rap Caviar’s 2023 MVP.

The “It’s All A Blur” tour will run until October, with notable dates in Los Angeles, Inglewood, Toronto, and more. The tour’s featured various special guests so far, including Lil Yachty, and most recently, Meek Mill. It’s been getting a lot of attention for the antics of Drake’s fanbase. Lately, they’ve even been launching bras at the rapper. It all started when one well-endowed fan threw her 36DD bra onstage in Chicago. “Some knocks,” he noted. Ever since, he’s been met with countless pieces of lingerie, including one 36G bra from a fan in Brooklyn. Drake demanded that fans “immediately” locate the woman, and they eventually came through. The woman behind the “knocks” was found to be Veronica Correia, who even reportedly received an offer from Playboy following the incident.

Drake’s “It’s All A Blur” Tour

Drake has also been teasing his next album in recent weeks, For All The Dogs. The album is confirmed to feature Nicki Minaj as well as “the old Drake.” Fans are eager to hear the rapper’s latest offering, as evidenced by audiences barking at him during recent tour stops. Listeners shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to hear For All The Dogs, as Drizzy recently revealed it’ll drop in coming weeks.

Alongside the album update, Drake told concertgoers at Madison Square Garden just how much his fans mean to him. “Just know, you’re always with me and I’m always thinking of you and everything I do is for you,” he shared. “Every time I step in that booth, I hope to make you proud.”

The Weeknd’s Tour Becomes The Highest-Grossing Tour Of The Decade

The Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn tour continues to make waves overseas, especially now that he’s set a new global record. According to a press release, the Canadian singer’s global tour grossed over $350 million since it launched in 2022, making it the highest-grossing tour of the decade. The North American leg, which included dates in Canada and the U.S., grossed $148 million in sales. However, he brought that to over $350 million in sales following sold-out back-to-back shows in London. Additionally, he set a new record at the stadium, drawing in 160,000 between both nights.

The Weeknd now holds the record for the highest single-night attendance for any show at the stadium with 80,000 fans at the venue. However, he’s yet to wrap up his forthcoming tour. In the midst of the second leg, Live Nation reports that the tour already sold more than 2 million tickets between Europe and the forthcoming South American dates. It’s no small feat for any artist but The Weeknd has undoubtedly set an impressive bar for himself and other artists across the world.

The Weeknd Beats Michael Jackson?

Following his latest feat, it appears that The Weeknd may have beaten Michael Jackson’s record for the highest-grossing tour by a Black artist. Michael Jackson’s Bad tour reportedly held the title with $311 million with inflation, while The Weeknd passed the $350 million mark. It’s an impressive feat but perhaps, one that Beyoncé might beat with the Renaissance World Tour. Some economists have predicted that Bey could pull in billions from the global venture.

Still, it’s clear that the love for The Weeknd hasn’t waned following his controversial television show The Idol, which debuted on HBO earlier this year. The singer’s faced plenty of criticism over the past few weeks from fans, some of which felt as though they couldn’t listen to his music the same way after following the series. Still, The Weeknd seemingly brushed off any criticism while Da’Vine Joy Randolph suggested that there might be a second season underway. We’ll keep you posted on anymore updates surrounding that. Have you checked out The Weeknd’s “After Hours” tour yet?

The Weeknd Breaks Records With London “After Hours Til Dawn” Performance

The Weeknd recently kicked off the European leg of his “After Hours Til Dawn” tour. He performed at London Stadium this past weekend, breaking records with the show. The artist now holds the record for the largest turnout across two nights of any tour, as well as the record for the largest turnout for a single night of any tour.

The Weeknd’s London tour stop saw him perform in a futuristic mirrored mask, with stunning accompanying visuals. He will go on to make 29 more stops, with his next being in Brussels later this week. The “After Hours Til Dawn” tour also features notable dates in Milan, Munich, and Barcelona.

The Weeknd also recently wrapped up the first season of his HBO show, The Idol. He stars in it alongside Lily-Rose Depp, and created the series alongside Sam Levinson. The Idol has been pretty controversial for its depictions of harmful relationships, sexuality, and more. The Weeknd, however, has continuously gone to bat for the project. “Grateful to share this moment with you all as the season comes to an end,” he wrote, “Continue to push the vision no matter how bumpy the journey.”

Recently, it was even reported that The Weeknd’s ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez sees some similarities between her and the show’s main character, Jocelyn. A source claimed, “The similarities between Selena’s life and Jocelyn’s life are just uncanny.” “Being [that] she actually dated The Weeknd, it is even more creepy for her,” they added, “Her real-life pain was used for entertainment value and that really irks her out. Everyone in her team who has known her for a very long time is dumbfounded by this, but at the end of the day Selena is going to do what she always does – rise above and move on.”

DaBaby Celebrates Streaming Milestone

According to Hip Hop All Day, DaBaby is now the only male rapper to have three songs, released in this decade, reach one billion streams each on Spotify. He shared the post on his Instagram page earlier today to celebrate. He also included a clip of several children dancing from his recent “SHAKE SUMN” music video. Some commenters on the original post are calling the news into question. Many believed that other artists, like Post Malone, Quavo, and more, should have been considered as candidates.

“Welcome DaBaby,” Hip Hop All Day wrote, adding, “His 2020 run will go down in the history books.” When one social media user asked about Post Malone, the account responded. “He’s never been a rapper but he has 10,” they wrote. The songs that reached one billion streams on Spotify are Pop Smoke’s “For The Night” featuring DaBaby and Lil Baby, Dua Lipa’s “Levitating” featuring DaBaby, and DaBaby’s “ROCKSTAR” featuring Roddy Rich.

DaBaby Shares The News On Instagram

Last week, reporter Meghann Cuniff shared a memo from prosecutors pertaining to the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case. According to the memo, it was alleged that Tory Lanez and DaBaby had planned to ambush Megan Thee Stallion’s 2021 Rolling Loud show. The memo also states that the two artists were within close proximity to Megan Thee Stallion despite a protective order. “During the victim’s performance, the defendant went through security clearance and entered the green room,” it says.

The memo continues, “These areas were within 100 yards of the stage where the victim was performing, in violation of the protective order. It was also brought to the victim’s attention that the defendant and DaBaby attempted to rush the stage… In no way was the victim previously aware of nor did she consent to the defendant’s presence at the venue when she would be performing.” Tory Lanez and DaBaby were allegedly unsuccessful in their attempt to rush the stage.

Mac Miller Gets First Multi-Platinum Album Certification

Mac Miller’s untimely death in 2018 had a profound impact on the creative world. However, his music has remained popular, and his recent certifications demonstrate his enduring appeal. On June 7, Mac Miller’s final studio album released before his passing, Swimming, achieved double platinum certification from the RIAA. This signifies two million units sold in the U.S. In February 2021, the album had already received platinum certification, marking Mac’s first project to reach that status. Furthermore, the song “Self Care” from the same album has been certified 5x platinum. That has surpassed his previous highest-certified song, “Weekend,” a collaboration with Miguel. That track achieved 4x platinum status from his 2015 album GO:OD AM.

Mac Miller’s earlier albums, Blue Slide Park, Watching Movies With the Sound Off, and GO:OD AM have all been certified gold. Even his posthumous release Circles has made gold status. Swimming was released in August 2018, a month before Mac Miller’s passing. It is often considered his magnum opus and was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards. It is a testament to the rapper’s artistry that was unfortunately snuffed out too soon.

Mac Miller’s Posthumous Career

Although he couldn’t witness his music’s continued success, Mac Miller’s legacy lives on through his art. Jon Brion, who worked on Swimming, was enlisted by Mac’s estate to help complete the album he had been working on before his untimely death. In 2020, the posthumous album Circles was released to critical acclaim. It debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and achieved Mac’s highest sales week for an album, with 164,000 units sold. The lead single, “Good News,” became his highest-charting track as a lead artist. It reached No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100. Mac Miller’s family has been careful and sensitive in handling his legacy since his passing. In 2021, his 2014 mixtape Faces was finally made available on streaming platforms after clearing the necessary samples.

Looking ahead, there is a possibility of new music from Mac Miller. Reportedly, he left behind an extensive collection of unreleased material. After featuring Mac on his album Liberation 2, producer Madlib revealed earlier this year that he is putting the finishing touches on the long-awaited “Maclib” project. He confirmed that this is the same project that was previously reported. He also said that Mac Miller’s estate has given approval for its eventual release. At least Mac Miller fans have something to look forward to in the future. For now, they can enjoy the late rapper’s continued success.

Ice Spice Breaks Record For Biggest Streaming Debut For A Female Rapper

Ice Spice’s new “Karma (Remix)” alongside Taylor Swift has won her the title of the female rapper with the biggest streaming debut on Spotify. The song was released Friday (May 26), as a bonus track on Swift’s album Midnights (The Til Dawn Edition). It quickly reached 5.036 million streams on its first day. The song is now fifth on the global Spotify chart. The debut was also the biggest streaming day of Ice Spice’s career thus far. Nicki Minaj also previously held the record for her August 2022 debut of “Super Freaky Girl.”

Ice Spice spoke on being catapulted into super-stardom in her April Paper Magazine cover story. “I don’t know if I fit in,” she claimed, also stating, “I think that’s what makes me so different. I feel like it’s a new lane that I’ve started, and I’m starting to hear a lot of other artists sound like they belong in my lane now.”

Ice Spice’s Collab Got Over 5 Million Streams On It’s First Day

The “Munch (Feelin’ U)” rapper also later discussed what her life is like since her breakout hit. “So real shortly after that, that’s when I started to realize my fame was picking up and people was constantly coming up to me. I started to know gradually,” she told Paper. She also explained, “It’s not like one day, you’re like, ‘Oh yeah, I’m famous.’ At some point, any time you step out the car, instantly people know you, instantly screaming your name.”

Upon the remix’s release, some fans weren’t too thrilled with the collaboration. Some listeners thought the verse was “so bad,” while others believed it was “rushed” and being used as damage control. Social media users pointed out that the remix was shared amid Swift’s rumored romance with The 1975’s Matty Healy. Healy previously made some controversial comments about Ice Spice’s appearance. In a February podcast appearance, He called the Bronx rapper “an Inuit Spice Girl,” leading to a great deal of backlash. “You can really tell the ‘Karma (Remix)’ was done last minute for damage control to clear Taylor Swift & her [Nazi] boyfriend image after he said all those racist slurs to Ice Spice,” one user wrote.

NBA YoungBoy Ties With Drake And Future’s Billboard Chart Records

NBA YoungBoy has tied with both Drake and Future after his latest album, Richest Opp‘s, sales landed him a spot having the third most Billboard 200 top 10 albums among rappers in U.S. history. Richest Opp saw 51,000 album-equivalent units sold in it’s first week, debuting at number four on this week’s chart. YoungBoy now has 15 Billboard 200 top 10 albums, also sharing his record with the likes of fellow rappers Drake and Future. The only rappers to surpass the record are Nas and Jay-Z, who both have 16 top 10 albums.

Earlier this month, YoungBoy was also named the youngest rapper ever to reach 100 entries on Billboard’s Hot 100. He joined artists like Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Drake, Lil Wayne, and more, becoming the 13th artist to chart 100+ songs on the Hot 100.

NBA YoungBoy Has 15 Top 10 Albums

Richest Opp followed YoungBoy’s April release of Don’t Try This at Home. Earlier this month, he revealed his latest album’s tracklist to fans. After fellow rapper Lil Durk announced that he’d be releasing a new album, YoungBoy took to social media to announce that he’d be dropping his LP on the same day. This led to a feud between the rappers.

YoungBoy also recently beefed with Soulja Boy about the release date of his latest album. After revealing that he’d put out Richest Opp on the same day as Lil Durk, Soulja Boy expressed that he was also upset about the release on social media. He said, “I’m finna outsell Lil Durk and YoungBoy at the same time,” adding “This my date.” He then went on to say, “P*ssy-a*s n*gga, you seen me announce my muthaf*ckin’ album and the next day you announced your album. So, guess what? You lame, n*gga.” When YoungBoy later responded by telling him “It’s gone be nice to meet you,” Soulja Boy went off again. He said, “You can’t wait to meet what? Bot, what the f*ck you said?” Continuing, Soulja claimed, “Boy, you don’t want to meet me,” adding, “This shit ain’t sweet. This ain’t no meet-and-greet.”

Miguel Makes Billboard History During Musical Comeback

Miguel is in the midst of a big comeback. He took quite a bit of time away from music. However, that doesn’t mean his songs haven’t been breaking records in the meantime. After an extended break, Miguel has achieved a significant chart milestone with his 2010 hit song “Sure Thing.” According to Chart Data, Miguel now holds the record for the longest charting song in Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs history. The song has spent almost 76 weeks in the Top 10.

Originally, the track was released as part of Miguel’s debut album, All I Want Is You. It has recently experienced a resurgence in popularity thanks in part to the song’s viral success on TikTok earlier this year. The song has now re-entered the charts and is currently sitting at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. Chart Data has shared news of Miguel’s record-breaking achievement on social media, generating excitement among fans.

Miguel’s Big Return

Miguel’s recent accomplishments mark an impressive return for the artist after an extended break from the music scene. In April, Miguel released his first solo single in almost two years, entitled “Give It To Me.” Produced by Scoop DeVille, the track features Miguel’s signature smooth vocals set against a pulsing beat, creating a sensual and entrancing atmosphere. The release of “Give It To Me” has been met with excitement from fans and critics alike, showcasing that Miguel has not lost his touch when it comes to producing high-quality and captivating music.

Before the release, Miguel gave his fans a sneak peek of his new single through an Instagram post. The video showcased the singer strumming his guitar dressed entirely in red. Prior to this, the artist had not released new music since his appearance on Diplo’s 2022 single, “Don’t Forget My Love,” leading many to wonder about his absence from the music industry. Sources suggest that the singer may have been taking time to recover from the aftermath of his divorce from his long-time partner Nazanin Mandi, whom he dated for 13 years before getting married in 2018. What do you think of Miguel’s new Billboard achievement? Are you excited for more music from him? Let us know in the comments!
