SOURCE SPORTS: Rajon Rondo Officially Announces Retirement

Rajon Rondo

Rajon Rondo has officially called it a career.

Speaking on the All the Smoke podcast, Rondo revealed that the NBA has “absolutely” seen the end of him on the court, and he will spend time with his kids.

“What a time, it was definitely something that I never took for granted when I was in the game,” Rondo said. “I loved every minute of it, and I appreciate the brotherhood that I was able to share and bond and grow with over the years. I’ve learned so much in this game and it’s made me the man who I am today. … I tell people all the time, this wasn’t a dream of mine, it was a goal. I was able to lock in, stay disciplined, I didn’t party a lot in college. But it was worth the sacrifice of me getting to where I wanted to be in life.”

Rondo is a 2x NBA champion, winning with the Boston Celtics in 2008 and the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.

Across his career, Rondo averaged 9.8 points, 7.9 assists, and 4.5 rebounds across 957 career games. In addition to the Lakers and Celtics, Rondo played for the Dallas Mavericks, Chicago Bulls, Sacramento Kings, New Orleans Pelicans, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers, and Cleveland Cavaliers.

The charges in question are “possession of paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and unlawful possession of a firearm,” as TMZ states. Eventually, Rondo was bailed out of jail pretty quickly. Bond only cost $705 and Rondo was on his way. It remains to be seen what will happen to Rondo, moving forward. Seeing as though these are misdemeanor charges, substantial punishment is looking fairly unlikely. Hopefully, he is able to get things sorted out.

Rajon Rondo is accused of pulling a gun on the mother of his children. Ashley Bachelor, Rondo’s longtime partner and the mother of his two children, has filed for an emergency protective order from the Cleveland Cavaliers point guard.

According to TMZ Sports, the protective order was filed in Louisville, asking for protection for herself and her son and daughter.

Bachelor states Rondo played video games with his son, Pierre before Bachelor asked the boy to separate laundry. Rondo then ripped the game console out the wall in a fit of rage, smashing outdoor lights, a coffee cup, and trash cans.

Rondo upset the kids, who saw all of the rage. Bachelor attempted to calm the situation, but Rondo threatened her with, “You’re dead.” Rondo left home but would return 15 minutes later, banging on the back door window with a gun. She asked Rondo to stop, but he would yell, “Go get my fucking son.” Bachelor did in fear of what Rondo would do next. Rondo would eventually “yank” the boy outside and ask why he was scared while he was still holding the gun. He would demand his daughter to come out, and he verbally reprimanded both children for being scared of him.

Rondo’s parents would come to the home. They were unable to calm him but did get him to leave.

The new protection order reads: “I am extremely fearful for my safety and for the safety of my children. Rajon has a history of volatile, erratic, explosive behavior. He is verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive. He physically hits our son and calls him names like ‘p***y’ and accuses him of acting like a ‘bitch.’”

The report also states Rondo calls his daughter “thot, bitch, and dickhead.”
