Nicki Minaj And J. Cole Keep Each Other Emotionally Grounded On Their New Collab, ‘Let Me Calm Down’

Nicki Minaj is back. Tonight, the illustrious hip-hop artist released her long-awaited fifth studio album Pink Friday 2. Over the course of the album, Minaj grapples with a whirlwind of emotions, from love, loss, grief, and newfound motherhood. On a standout track, “Let Me Calm Down,” she teams up with J. Cole as she finds herself conflicted as someone attempts to reconnect with her.

“I knew if that if it was meant to be, that one day I would let him / Twenty years later them decisions, I don’t regret them / Just wish you would give me space when I really need it / To be alone in my zone when I’m really heated,” raps Minaj on one of the song’s verses, showcasing her confusion about the place this person once had in her life.

Cole then pops in with a verse of his own, offering a special message to the song’s subject. He better get right if he wants Minaj in his life.

“They talkin’ slick and make you wanna pull a Rated-R / You like her, love her like a brother, like a manager, an A&R / Plus a therapist when it start rainin’ hard / Her life was trauma filled, it left her with a tainted heart,” he raps.

The long wait is over! It’s not only Nicki Minaj’s birthday, but the reigning Queen of Rap has officially dropped her highly-anticipated fifth studio album. That’s right, Pink Friday 2 is out now. Nicki Minaj is just a bit away from releasing her highly anticipated Pink Friday 2 album at midnight ET tonight, where it will be available to stream on Apple Music and Spotify. Given the rap icon has been pretty quiet about details surrounding the record, fans are wondering what the tracklist will be.

Here’s what to know so far.

What Is Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 Tracklist?

Minaj’s full tracklist for Pink Friday 2 is still yet to be announced. However, this hasn’t stopped online speculation. According to an unconfirmed partial list from Genius, it has her previously released “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” and “Super Freaky Girl” both reportedly making the cut. Other songs include “Big Difference” as track 2, and “Last Time I Saw You” as track 7.

Additional unconfirmed titles right now are “Let Me Calm Down,” “Memories,” and “Roman In Malibu.” The latter seems to tease that Minaj will be reprising her altar ego that fans got to know with the original Pink Friday in 2010.

It’s also unclear if any collaborations will be included on the rest of the tracklist, let alone how long the record will be, making it truly a surprise to take place once it drops.

Nicki Minaj’s new album Pink Friday 2 is arriving on DSPs soon and she has promised that the album will take fans on a ride to “Gag City.” After teasing the allbum’s release — and its accompanying tour — for months, the album hits DSPs, including Apple Music and Spotify, on Friday, December 7.

The album will be Nicki Minaj’s fifth studio album, and it arrives five years after the release of her most recent album, Queen, in 2018. In the lead up to the album’s release, Nicki enjoyed a resurgence of popularity thanks to her placement on the Barbie soundtrack with the Aqua-sampling “Barbie World” alongside “Princess Diana” collaborator Ice Spice. Capitalizing on the attention from the new song from younger fans, she attempted to join TikTok’s “NPC” trend with hilariously disastrous results. Still, the move revealed an endearingly human side to the superstar, which she continued to cultivate with her first album single “Last Time I Saw You.”

After campaigning to appear on Drake’s new album For All The Dogs, Nicki teased the next single, “Bahm Bahm,” before revealing that Pink Friday 2 had been delayed. Just ahead of the album’s release, she dropped out of iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball to ensure she had time to properly finish the album.

Nicki Minaj has been building fans’ anticipation for Pink Friday 2, the follow-up to her hit 2010 album. Given it marks Minaj’s first new full record since 2018, there are only a few more hours to go until it drops on December 8.

Here’s what to know about when the album will be on Spotify.

When Will Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 Be On Spotify?

Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 will be available to stream on Spotify right at midnight ET. For those on the West Coast, they can listen at 9 p.m. this evening. Anyone else in a different time zone around the world should calculate from there to find out when it will drop. (For example, most of Europe can hear it starting at 5 a.m. tomorrow, and so on.)

“When I look back at a lot of my music, I’m like, ‘Oh, my God, where was the me in it?’” Minaj shared during an interview with Vogue about Pink Friday 2. “So for this album, I went back to the old game plan.”

“This album is just beyond anything I could have imagined,” she also teased for fans through Twitter.

While not a ton is known about the album yet beyond that, it seems it will live up to the hype.

What Time Will Nicki Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday 2’ Come Out?

Get ready: Nicki Minaj’s long-awaited fifth studio album Pink Friday 2 is finally arriving after several months of postponements, five years removed from the release of her last album, Queen. In a new teaser for the album, Minaj promised to take her fans to “Gag City” (idk, sounds unpleasant) and they certainly seem excited about it, but when exactly should they be checking for it online?

Although many of the artists on Nicki’s level of notoriety can get away with pushing it (see: anytime Drake releases anything), it seems most likely that Nicki’s new album will hit DSPs at midnight ET on the dot. After all, she gave herself plenty of leeway to get everything mixed, mastered, and delivered to her distributors with the date change earlier this year, so someone as fastidious about her career as Ms. Minaj isn’t going to drop the ball on the 1-yard line. She even canceled a performance at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball in Chicago — presumably to do some last-minute album prep — so it seems probable that she’s hit her deadlines.

Judging from the singles that have been released so far, including the as-yet only teased “Big Difference,” fans can likely expect a return to a more rap-focused Nicki on her new project, rather than the pop-oriented version that dominated much of the 2010s. Whether that’s a good thing probably depends on which version you like more: “Anaconda” Nicki or “Monster” Nicki.

What Is Nicki Minaj’s Gag City?

Nicki Minaj is less than one day away from finally dropping Pink Friday 2, her first full-length album since 2018’s Queen. On Wednesday night, December 6, Minaj amped up the already-fervent anticipation by using her “Barb Alert System” to warn the Barbz that they are quickly “approaching Gag City.”

“As we begin to prepare for landing, please make sure your tray tables are put back up & your seat belts are tightly fastened,” Minaj wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) earlier in the day. “The captain has activated the ‘no bathroom’ sign. If you look out the window, you’ll begin to see the beauty…clear waters, pink dolphins…#GagCity #PF2.”

Well, that sounds lovely. Wait, PINK DOLPHINS?! What (and where) in the world is Gag City?

According to various outlets — such as Know Your Meme, Reddit, and The Mirror — Barbz created Gag City using AI based on the Pink Friday 2 cover art Minaj shared in early September. On the first of two album covers, Minaj appears angelic while standing on what could be described as a subway platform floating above pink clouds. Everything is pink, except for Minaj’s white outfit.

“Her fans, lovingly called the Barbz, decided that the city below her on the album cover was named Gag City, a play on the word ‘gagged,’ which can be used to describe something, usually a celebrity, as amazing or stunning,” The Mirror explained. “After Gag City was named, fans were left wondering what the city could possibly look like, so they turned to AI.”

This morning, December 7, Power 105. 1 posted that it “is the official radio station of #GAGCity” alongside an AI-generated, pink-tinged photo of a boombox turned to the station. Republic Records posted the Statue Of Liberty wearing a pink wig. All over the internet, people continue to post their visions for Gag City ahead of Pink Friday 2‘s arrival at midnight ET (December 8), which is also Minaj’s birthday. See some below.

Nicki Minaj was initially going to release Pink Friday 2 on November 17, but she delayed it and will instead drop it this Friday, December 8 — her 41st birthday. Last weekend, Minaj informed the Barbz that she would no longer perform at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball in Chicago on Monday, December 4, because she needed to focus on finishing album preparation. On Wednesday, December 6, she was preparing the Barbz for Pink Friday 2‘s launch.

“Approaching #GagCity,” Minaj wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) alongside a 26-second trailer. The video shows a pink-lit “Barb Alert System” blinking with the message: “PREPARE FOR IMPACT Pink Friday 2 IS COMING.” It’s soundtracked by the unreleased Pink Friday 2 songBig Difference,” as Minaj raps, “Like my hunnids blue / Bad b*tches, yeah, I keep ’em by the two / It’s a big difference between me and you / I ain’t nothin’ like you, you, you, or you.”

That post came roughly 10 hours after Minaj took to X to relay similarly themed instructions, writing, “As we begin to prepare for landing, please make sure your tray tables are put back up & your seat belts are tightly fastened. The captain has activated the ‘no bathroom’ sign. If you look out the window, you’ll begin to see the beauty…clear waters, pink dolphins…#GagCity #PF2.”
