Tierra Whack Dates The Phillie Phanatic In Her Wildly Imaginative ‘Moovies’ Video

Tierra Whack is still promoting her album World Wide Whack, picking up where the “Two Night” video left off in the new video for “Moovies.” At the end of the prior video, a massive parade float balloon version of Whack was left demolished by the unhinged citizens of her hometown, but at the beginning of “Moovies,” the Philly native puts herself back together with the aid of some normal-sized balloon animals.

Then, an animated Whack goes on a succession of movie dates with a colorful collection of cartoon characters — including the Philadelphia Phillies’ mascot, the Phillie Phanatic. Somewhere, Gritty is shedding tears into cheesesteak over missing his shot (if anyone wants to photoshop gritty into the Wolverine Crush meme with Whack and Phanatic’s phamily photo in the picture frame, they will win the internet today, at least in the City Of Brotherly Love).

Whack previously featured the Phanatic in her NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert, explaining the mascot’s presence as an abundance of hometown love on her part. “Y’all know I gotta keep it Philly,” she said. “I bleed green. I bleed red. Anything Philly is all me. I had to bring a piece of home with me.”

You can check out the video for “Moovies” above.

World Wide Whack is out now via Interscope Records. You can find more info here.

SOURCE SPORTS: Mets Risk NL Wild Card Spot With Two Losses Over The Weekend To The Phillies

Screenshot 2024 09 15 at 9.06.49 PM

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza might really be re-thinking his choice of pitchers over the weekend against the Phillies as Bryce Harper and the Phillies take the last two of the three-game series, severely jeopardizing the Mets’ chances of an NL Wild Card berth.

The Amazins came into Philadelphia on Friday with everything in their favor; they were one game ahead of the Braves in the NL Wild Card race with a 8-2 record in their last 10 games and no one knew about superstr shortstop Francisco Lindor’s impending back injury. Fast forward to Sunday evening and the Mets are a half game behind Atlanta, risking their spot in the Wild Card, which now heavily depends on how the Braves do against the Dodgers on their home turf in Truist Park tonight(September 15).

On Friday, New York embarrassed the Phils, beating them 11-3, headed off by three 3-run HRs from Alvarez, Nimmo and Bader and a solo shot from first baseman Pete Alonso in the top of the ninth to seal the slaughter. Jose Quintana took control of the mound in the Mets’ first outing against Philly, shutting down four batters and only giving up three hits in seven frames. The Phillies got all their runs in one shot from Brandon Marsh, who blasted a three-run shot off Alex Young in the bottom of the ninth.

Maybe it was the superstition of Friday the 13th that moved the Mets up to the third spot in the NL East, just eight games behind the division leading Phils, but equally as esoteric, Lindor’s back injury had him pulled in the 7th inning, obviously raising questions about the team’s now unstable playoff position. In the second game of the series and the first game that the NL MVP candidate has missed in the past three seasons, the Phillies took the Mets down 6-4, with Bryce Harper banging two homers off Mets right hander Luis Severino in the 4th and 6th innings. Mendoza sent Young back to the mound for New York for only one out and gave up two hits and two runs, even after giving up three runs in one inning . Mets fans had hope on Sunday as Lindor returned to the lineup as the lead off batter, but was swiftly withdrawn from the game in the second inning. The Phillies edged the Mets 2-1 in the bottom of the ninth with a single from J.T Realmuto off Edwin Diaz, who replaced Phil Maton in the last inning.

With the Mets striking out at the plate more than the Phils in all three games, it may not just be pitching thats failing the Mets. The Mets seem to be hinging on Lindor’s uncertain return to the lineup, but the follow through from players like Nimmo and Alonso is needed, but isn’t happening. The Mets will also be missing RHP Paul Blackburn during this crucial point in the season after he was cleared for his hand injury just two weeks ago, but placed back on IL for a spinal fluid leak in his back yesterday(September 14).

Will the Mets maintain their position as the best team in MLB since the All Star break or will the combination of injuries, pitchers and fallen stars cost the Mets their chance at the pennant?

SOURCE SPORTS: [WATCH] Phillies Fan Called Homophobic Slur By NY Yankees Fan Before Being Slapped Unconscious

It seems that even when the Bronx Bombers win, a celebration isn’t complete without Yankees fans brawling with the opposition, even at away games.

This past Tuesday(July 30) at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park when the Yankees beat the Phils 6-5, a Yankees fan called a Phillies fan a homophobic slur shortly before he smacked the man unconscious. In the footage, you can see two men in what appears to just be a verbal altercation until the man wearing the Aaron Judge jersey smacks the man in the black shirt, presumably a Phillies fan, leaving him out cold.

See the man smacked unconscious HERE

What’s come into question now is that prior to the assault, the man in the Judge jersey is now wanted for questioning by the Philadelphia Police for a potential hate crime after calling the man a f****t shortly before hitting him.

The Philadelphia Police Dept. said they are aware of the incident and have launched an investigation into things. “We are asking the victim and anyone who may have knowledge of the incident to come forward,” the PPD said.

Neither the Yankees nor the Phillies have commented on the incident.

SOURCE SPORTS: Mets Draw With The Phillies In London Series With 6-5 Comeback Win In Second Game

Screenshot 2024 06 10 at 7.51.19 PM

What seemed like what was going to be a clean two-game sweep for the Phillies against the Amazins’ across the pond turned out to be an epic closer to a longtime division rivalry taken abroad.

In what Londoners would call “squeaky hum time”, the New York Mets produced a unimaginable 6-5 comeback win over rivals the Philadelphia Phillies to even out Major League Baseball’s two-game London Series. A three run rally in the top of the ninth inning put the Mets up by two, but the Phils didn’t go out without a fight in the bottom of the ninth.

With only two outs left to get the W, right fielder Nick Castellanos breaks his bat, but hits a dribbler right in front of the plate, making quicik thinking Mets catcher Luis Torres step on the plate and fire a missile down to Pete Alonso at first, ending the game and creating the first ever 2-3 double play in MLB history.

Only seven times in AL/NL history had a game ended on a ground-ball double play to the catcher, and none was scored precisely 2-3 (catcher to first base). Since 1912, which is as far back as MLB’s data on the subject goes, the only other game-ending 2-3 double play occurred on a pop fly.

What an exciting end to a historic rivalry in The Big Smoke, giving the Mets just their second win against Philadelphia in their six games against each other in 2024. The Kings from Queens have over three months to revel in their victory until the next time they meet the Phillies, which will be on the Phils’ turf in Citizens Bank Park.

[WATCH] SOURCE SPORTS: Bryce Harper Hits In-The-Park Home Run To Help Phillies Bump The Giants 10-4

Screen Shot 2023 08 22 at 12.22.10 AM

Tonight on the Phillies’ home turf, right fielder Bryce Harper belted a fastball into center field and somehow made it across home plate with a safe slide, scoring an “in-the-park” homer for the Phils in their 10-4 win against the San Francisco Giants.

Harper hit the first inside of the ballpark homer in Philly’s Citizens Bank for the Phils since J.T. Realmuto’s in Game 4 of the 2022 National League Division Series and was the third of four home runs hit by the Phillies in their win over the Giants.

The four homers — Edmundo Sosa, Alec Bohm and Kyle Schwarber also went yard — and Aaron Nola’s best start in more than a month helped the Phillies (68-57) take a three-game lead over the Giants (65-60) and a 2 1/2-game lead over the Cubs (65-59) for the top National League Wild Card spot with 38 games to play.
