PartyNextDoor’s ‘Resentment’ Has Been Bottled Up And Turned Into An Anthem For All The Slighted Lovers

PartyNextDoor heard that 2023 was the musical year of comebacks. So he’s deciding to give fans what they’ve been begging for — new music. The singer has broken quite a few hearts in the past, but on his new single “Resentment,” he acknowledged that it’s no fun when roles are reversed.

The self-produced track marks the entertainer’s official follow-up to his song “Her Old Friends,” shared in January. On this release, PartyNextDoor turned inward to examine his role in the relationship’s demise instead of blaming others for his failed attempt at a forever love.

As he sings, “Thinking about getting even, but I ain’t even aspire to get that low / I just want to know what we’re waiting for, baby
I won’t keep bringing up the past, I won’t keep trying to run it back / I won’t keep standing for it / What be going through your mind, staying out past 5 / And you know you’re going to get checked for it,” the singer confessed how his nonassertion eroded the health of the relationship.

While his 2020 EP Partypack, didn’t have much staying power, his forthcoming album PartyNextDoor 4 is shaping up to deliver a lasting punch.

PartyNextDoor Continues Resurgence By Announcing New Single

PartyNextDoor had been pretty quiet as of late. His last album, Partymobile, dropped back in early 2020. Throughout the entire pandemic and up until now, the R&B artist wasn’t releasing any new music of note. Now, seemingly out of nowhere, he’s throwing out new tunes left and right. His latest release, a song titled “Resentment,” will drop tonight, July 6th. He posted a snippet of the track, which has now made the rounds on Twitter.

Two months ago, another unreleased PartyNextDoor song leaked onto the internet. “Bricks,” which features Drake, was created back in the More Life days of Drake’s career. It has a similar sample to the Drizzy song “Passionfruit.” Party also dropped “Her Old Friends” early this year, a sign of more things to come. With “Resentment” being the third appearance on a song this year — he was also on Diddy’s “Sex in a Porsche” — PartyNextDoor is heating up for one heck of a comeback.

“PartyNextDoor4” Coming Soon

The OVO artist has been pairing up with teammate Drake for a few stage performances, with Drizzy confirming PartyNextDoor’s next album release, PartyNextDoor4. Party has also tweeted out, “P4 otw,” all but ensuring fans of plenty of new music on the way. From the snippet above, we can tell that Party is still one of the best R&B singers on the planet right now. He’s crooning over sultry sound and crackling beats, which is what his fans have come to expect.

PartyNextDoor has enjoyed a fairly successful career so far. PartyNextDoor4 will be his fifth studio album, returning to the normal naming of his albums after a brief Partymobile foray. Back in 2017, he racked up nominations, including two Grammy nods for Best R&B Song (“Come and See Me” with Drake) and Album of the Year (Drake’s Views, of which Party was a featured artist). The OVO alum will look to collect more accolades with the latest album. Sadly, we do not have a release date for the project; we’ll simply have to live with “Resentment” dropping tonight as consolation.

PartyNextDoor Will Continue His Return With His Upcoming Single ‘Resentment’

For quite some time after the release of his fourth album PartyMobile, Toronto singer and OVO Sound signee PartyNextDoor remained fairly quiet on the music scene. He worked with Popcaan, Trippie Redd, Diddy, and OG Parker, and released some beloved SoundCloud cuts through his PartyPack. At long last, Party’s absence came to an end at the beginning of the year with “Her Old Friends” and what followed were promises that his next project PartyNextDoor4 was on the way. While the wait for that continues, fans will be able to enjoy a new single from the singer tonight.

In a post to his Instagram story, PartyNextDoor revealed that his second single of the year will arrive tonight on July 7. The record is titled “Resentment,” and thanks to a snippet that he shared in a broadcast channel on Instagram, the track is reminiscent of PartyNextDoor records that fans have come to love over the years. In addition to sharing the snippet for “Resentment,” PartyNextDoor also confirmed once again that “P4 otw” thanks to a message he shared in the channel.

You can hear the snippet for “Resentment” in the post above.

HER Announced The Return Of Her Lights On Festival For 2023 With Jazmine Sullivan As A Headliner

HER‘s Lights On Festival, which she launched in her native Bay Area in 2021 with co-headliner Erykah Badu before expanding to Brooklyn with Maxwell, is coming back for another round of soulful performances this September in Mountain View, California. This time, she’ll be accompanied as co-headliner by Jazmine Sullivan, with support from PartyNextDoor, Don Toliver, Alina Baraz, Toosii, Smino, and Syd, in addition to many more breakout artists in hip-hop and R&B.

The Lights On Fest is billed for the weekend of September 16-17 at Shoreline Festival Grounds in Mountain View. The presale for tickets begins this Thursday, June 28, at 12 pm, while the general sale begins on Friday at 12. You can get more information at LightsOnFest.com.

While some fans thought HER was in danger of becoming oversaturated, what with her numerous Grammys, Oscars, and Emmys — she’s only a Tony Award away from an EGOT — she has kept a low profile early this year after declaring that she wanted “people to get to know the person behind [the HER persona]” — a process that drew plenty of positive attention. Making a comeback with her well-received festival will help with that, as will her upcoming role in the musical remake of The Color Purple dropping later this year.

PartyNextDoor Brought Drake Out For A Toronto Concert Where They Confirmed ‘PARTYNEXTDOOR 4’ Is On The Way

PartyNextDoor last released a new collection of music back in 2021 with the Partypack EP following his third studio album Partymobile. That album, which debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, updated the singer’s well-established formula but didn’t quite stick with fans the way his game-changing debut mixtape had.

Perhaps that’s why his next project will be PartyNextDoor 4, as confirmed by PND and Drake, who popped out to surprise fans at Party’s latest show in Toronto, telling fans, “I’m going on tour, but Party’s dropping PND4” in a singsong delivery that blended into a rendition of “Come And See Me,” the duo’s collaboration from Party’s second studio album, PartyNextDoor 3.

Drake announced his It’s All A Blur Tour with 21 Savage earlier this year, sparking a feeding frenzy for tickets that led to the duo adding no fewer than a dozen additional dates. Demand was still so high, another dozen dates were added in an effort to ensure that everyone gets to see the superstar when he rolls through the biggest markets.

Party himself, meanwhile, has been promoting his long-awaited new album with the single “Her Old Friends,” released in January this year.

PartyNextDoor & Drake’s Unreleased “Bricks” Surfaces Online

The Drake & PartyNextDoor combination has been missing from our playlists for a minute. However, with the release of “Her Old Friends” and PND’s appearance on Diddy’s “Sex In A Porsche,” we imagine that they might have new heat in the stash on the Mississauga-based artist’s next project, whenever that drops. Fortunately for fans, every so often, something out of the stash leaks online and makes waves. This week, it’s a record titled, “Bricks” that fans suspect was recorded roughly six years ago.

Fans were ecstatic to hear the collaboration between the two Canadian artists but they did point out that it sounds like it was recorded during the More Life era. “Bricks” contains a similar sample to Drake’s “Passionfruit,” which appeared on his 2017 project. On top of that, Drake uses a similar line on “Bricks” that he used on WizKid’s “Come Closer.” Regardless, it’s an exciting record that we hope will see and official release and add to their collaborative streak alongside songs like “Loyal,” “With You,” and “Recognize.”

The OVO team has been on the move this year, although fans remain on the edge in hopes that a new album from PartyNextDoor will come before the summer. The Canadian R&B songwriter released his last album, PARTYMOBILE in 2020 before sharing PARTYPACK later that year. However, with his recent single earlier this year, we anticipate that he could be coming through with some heat later this year. We could only hope that it’s here in time for summer 2023.

As for Drake, the Canadian singer is fresh off of the release of Her Loss with 21 Savage. The two rappers are now gearing up for their official tour, It’s All A Blur, which launches later this summer. Hopefully, Drake also has some new music in the stash this year. He debuted “Search & Rescue” last month before unveiling the highly-anticipated Lil Uzi Vert-assisted, “At The Gates.” Unfortunately, we can’t share the “Bricks” leak here but you could find it online fairly easily.
