Jay-Z Explains Why He Doesn’t Like To Be Filmed

This generation seems to love capturing everything on camera, but Jay-Z isn’t about that life. The media mogul often avoids the camera or prying paparazzi, and he was even spotted politely dismissing a photographer during this year’s Roc Nation brunch. A video of Hov walking through the party went viral, showing him calmly waving his hand at a photographer looking to get that perfect shot.

Elliott Wilson caught up with Jay for an interview with TIDAL, and during the chat, the Rap icon explained why is often avoids the cameras. “Yeah, we don’t come from that school,” he said. “We come from the don’t-you-ever-record-us school. What was the line? [He quoted lyrics from 2013’s “Oceans”] ‘See me in sh*t you never saw / If it wasn’t for these pictures you wouldn’t see me at all.‘”

He added, “We come from that school and we had fights over that. N—as trying to record — ‘Aye yo, don’t record me, champ. I ain’t into that.’ We come from a different world.” Hov further explained that this is “why The Black Album was so special.” He said “it was the first time cameras came into the studios and just lived with us.”

Meanwhile, Jay-Z also joined DJ Khaled, Lil Wayne, Fridayy, John Legend, and Rick Ross for a performance of “God Did.” He shared why he decided to return to the Grammy stage. “This ain’t your traditional song,” said the hitmaker. “It’s not your traditional structure of what you think a song that would be nominated for Song of the Year would sound like.”

It’s not what you expect. And for the culture and for hip-hop, we got to do that. We owe that. This thing that changed our lives. We got to do that. A four-minute verse performed at the Grammys. We owe it to the culture, and it ain’t even a burden. It’s a blessing. It’s easy and fun.” Check out the performance below.

Kanye West Argues With Paparazzi While Out With Bianca Censori

Everywhere he goes, all eyes are on Kanye West. However, in recent years, the Rap mogul has intensified his infamy with presidential campaigns, controversial social media outbursts, and, more recently, anti-Semitism and admissions of admiring Adolf Hitler.

It doesn’t take much for West to dominate pop culture spaces, but news of his purported marriage has been a main focus. It was reported that just months after his divorce from Kim Kardashian was finalized, West married Yeezy architect Bianca Censori.

The Donda icon often makes friends with the paparazzi, but these days, he seems a tad more irritated. A new video has surfaced, taken by a person filming West and Censori during a private moment. The person behind the camera is yelling at the pair about them being on their honeymoon, to which West repeatedly tells him to “stop.”

The rapper called the person “antagonistic” and demanded that the man leave them alone. The person insists they were far enough away and “only needs just one shot.”

Kanye replied, “You got the shot. But I’m saying, you don’t even know. Y’all just jump up on people like this in the street just like… “

“You know the first time when I took medication, where I was? I got mad at the paparazzi. You know who the paparazzi was? The same one that shot Britney,” West continued. It’s assumed he’s referring to the moment Britney Spears shaved her head all those years ago.

“My dad did photography for newspapers. It has to be some kind of balance, some kind of conversation. I can’t live in California and my life, like I’m some type of caged animal.”

West questioned who the photog worked for, and the man said he was independent. Ye told him it wasn’t right that someone could just walk up on a stranger at night and take photos without repercussions. West also spoke about not having any say in how or where the photos are published. He added that celebrities also don’t get a cut on monies earned.

The paparazzo told Ye that he stopped photographing him when asked. Still, the person continued to record and released the footage.

Lil Gotit & Dolly White Asked About YSL RICO Trial By Paparazzi

Lil Gotit has been one of the “Free YSL” movement‘s most active supporters. Ever since Young Thug and other members of their crew were arrested in May last year, he’s been advocating for their release.

In September, the 23-year-old explicitly showed his support for his brothers through the single, “Free Y$L.”

Earlier this week, Gotit was spotted at an airport alongside Thug’s sister and fellow YSL artist, Dolly White. Of course, a paparazzi member from TMZ asks them about the forthcoming RICO trial.

“Everybody good. Everybody just gotta relax,” says the “She Know It” rapper. When the cameraman asks the artists about Gunna and other YSL members taking plea deals, Gotit is seemingly about to open up. However, the “Reckless” rapper intervenes. “More power to them! We can’t talk about that,” she says.

“Nah, Jeff [Thug] good,” Gotit says later on. “He good, I just talked to him this morning,” says the “Ski” rapper’s sister. She then goes on to call out the media for spreading false rumors about the situation. Namely Akademiks, for his reports that Thug didn’t sanction any of the plea deals.

When asked about Thugger’s hopeful release, the pair sound optimistic. “He gon’ get out,” says Gotit. “We ain’t worried about that,” says White afterwards.

In the latest development in the case, authorities are charging the Barter 6 rapper with eight counts. This comes after he was facing a possible 65 charges. The eight against him include conspiracy to violate the R.I.C.O. act and two counts of participation in criminal street gang activity.

However, the murder charges will not be going forward against the 31-year-old. Previous reports were indicating that Thug would be facing life in prison if convicted of murder. “So I just spoke to a lawyer familiar with the YSL case. If Young Thug gets convicted of murder, he will get life in prison. Under Georgia law, he will only be eligible for parole after 30 years. If he gets convicted for even 1 count in his RICO case, he’ll get 20 years,” writes DJ Vlad in a tweet on Sunday (January 1).

Roddy Ricch Checks Paparazzi for Filming Him Putting Car Seat in his Car

Roddy Ricch has altercation with paparazzi

Roddy Ricch is the latest celebrity to push back after paparazzi have crossed personal boundaries. Video, allegedly taken on December 29, recently surfaced showing an unnamed member of the paparazzi getting a little too close for comfort to The Box artist.

The video, which was shared by The Hollywood Fix, was taken in West Hollywood and shows Roddy and two men (likely his security detail and a store employee) trying to load what appears to be a car seat into the artist’s black car. The person (an unknown male) recording the film at first just zooms in on the three men before approaching them and talking about how he saw the artist in concert.

The security guard blocks the camera and tells the person recording “he’s doing something private now, he’s doing something for his family.”

The person appears to back off before continuing to try to talk to the artist, to which the security guard repeatedly tells him to back off. The person continues to record and Roddy approaches him and tells him to “turn that off” and says he wants to talk to him “like a man.” The man continues to object and Roddy continues to ask him to turn the camera off, saying “you walked up on me…this is real life, bro.”

The man backs off and talks to someone off camera, confirming that it is indeed Roddy Ricch, but saying “he [Roddy] is in a bad mood though.”

Roddy and his security guard drive off without incident.

Earlier this year, rapper Kodak Black had a similar incident in which he told a person filming him in his private life to back off and stop recording, citing the murder of PNB Rock days before. (The artist’s murderer apparently found his location based on a social media video.)

It is unclear who the car seat was for. Roddy has one child, a son, with baby mama Allie Minati.

Roddy Ricch Goes Off On Paparazzi

2022 has been a rather redeeming year for Roddy Ricch. After last year’s LIVE LIFE FAST didn’t exactly live up to expectations, he took a brief break from dropping music.

Additionally, the world was witness to him deleting his Twitter account following a snippet receiving widespread criticism earlier this year. On Thursday (December 29), however, the Compton native made headlines for getting into a heated exchange with some paparazzi.

The incident occurred while the “Down Below” rapper was out in L.A., appearing to be loading a baby seat into the trunk of his car. After his security guard warns the paparazzi to back up, he proceeds to cross the street. Roddy doesn’t hesitate to flash him the finger as he’s doing so. After all, he does continue to film the 24-year-old, who evidently isn’t happy upon realizing this. The Compton native subsequently decides to approach the cameraman.

He repeatedly tells the paparazzi to turn his camera off and stop recording. “Turn that off, ’cause I wanna talk to you like a man,” he pleads.

“You was the first dude that walked up on me. You walked up on me, bro. Don’t walk up on me. This is real life, don’t walk up on me. I’m handling my personal business, you walking up on me. This ain’t that bro, I’m living real life,” Roddy states. He ends by telling the cameraman, “Leave me the f*ck alone.”

After a string of impressive mixtapes, including his Feed Tha Streets series, the Compton native dropped his debut album Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial in December 2019. Of course, this was backed by his biggest single to date in the megahit, “The Box.”

Last month, he returned to drop off the third instalment of his infamous series, Feed Tha Streets III. Although it does follow a similar formula to past Roddy projects, as a whole, it showcases his confidence and effortlessly melodic flow.
