Popcaan Shares His Latest Album “Great Is He”
Popcaan’s starting the year off on the right foot with the release of his latest project, Great Is He.
The Jamaican star’s new project marks his third release under the OVO banner since signing to the label in 2016. This time, he delivers a strong 17-song effort that boasts appearances from Drake, Burna Boy, Toni-Ann Singh, and Chronic Law.
Great Is He includes several previously released singles, such as “Skeleton Cartier,” “Set It,” “Next To Me” featuring Toni-Ann Singh, and the Drake-assisted, “We Caa Done,” which accompanied the album announcement.
Though he’s already one of the leading artists of the genre, Popcaan’s new album could kick off a new chapter in his career. Despite the worldwide acclaim and a wide fanbase in the U.S., Popcaan has yet to travel to America. However, with the release of Great Is He, it seems that he’s looking to finally tread across the U.S.A. in the near future.

Popcaan’s new album comes nearly three years after the release of his last solo project, FIXTAPE. However, he later joined forces with OVO affiliate, Preme, for their joint project, Link Up.

Popcaan Debuts Title Track Off Of Upcoming Album “Great Is He”
Popcaan slid through with the second single off of his upcoming body of work, Great Is He.
The dancehall star shared his new single, “Great Is He,” the title track off of his upcoming album, on Friday morning. Popcaan blessed fans with a slow-burning record with uplifting and motivational undertones. In a sense, it’s reminiscent of “Hold On” off of 2014’s Where We Come From.
The latest single from Popcaan comes shortly after releasing “We Caa Done” ft. Drake. The two artists reconnected for a strong lead single that’s bound to have the summer on lock.
This morning, the dancehall star finally revealed the release date for the project. Popcaan’s new album will drop next Friday, Jan. 27th. Great Is He marks Popcaan’s first official project since 2020’s Fixtape, his third release under OVO Sound.
The Drake-led label is particularly busy today. Along with the release of Popcaan’s new single, OVO announced the signing of Naomi Sharon — the first woman ever signed to the label. The Dutch/Caribbean debuted two new singles this morning, “Another Life” and “Celestial,” via OVO Sound.
“I been waiting for this day for too long now where the world finally gets to digest the insane amount of work you have put in since we met. My dear friend just dropped her single Another Life on OVO SOUND,” Drake wrote on Instagram this morning.

Drake’s OVO Sound Record Label Lands Its First Lady With Alternative R&B Singer Naomi Sharon
Despite his supposed ‘Regina George’ complex, rapper Drake has no problem using his platform to showcase newer acts. In fact, by way of his label, OVO Sound, co-founded by his long-time collaborator producer Noah’ 40’ Shebib, the pair are looking to break yet another artist. With a roster consisting of PARTYNEXTDOOR, dvsn, Popcaan, Majid Jordan, Roy Woods, and Baka Not Nice, the label has finally found its leading lady.
With the release of her new single, “Another Life,” Dutch-Caribbean singer Naomi Sharon becomes the first lady of OVO Sound. Drake took to Instagram to welcome her to the label and share her new track with his following with the caption, “Naomi Sharon, I been waiting for this day for too long now where the world finally gets to digest the insane amount of work you have put in since we met. My dear friend just dropped her single Another Life on OVO Sound.”
To which Naomi commented, “I will be forever thankful for this insane opportunity you gave me. Finally, we can share this with the world. Big love.”
The warm welcome didn’t stop there as Shebib also took to his Instagram, writing, “Naomi Sharon, I’m honoured to be a part of this journey. I’m so proud of you and can’t wait for the world to hear the rest of what you’ve been working on.”
“Another Life” is a beautifully intrinsic blend of electronic dance music, and alt-R&B. Dance-influenced music dominated the 2022 charts as seen in the success of Beyoncé’s Renaissance, Drake’s Honestly, Nevermind, and Lizzo’s Special albums. Naomi is undoubtedly starting on the right track.

Drake Announces New OVO Sound Artist, Naomi Sharon
Drake welcomed OVO Sound’s latest signee to the roster this morning, Dutch/Caribbean singer Naomi Sharon.
Sharon made her debut on OVO Sound this morning with the release of two new singles, “Celestial” and “Another Life.” Both songs boast contributions from Noah “40” Shebib. He co-produced the latter alongside Alex Lustig, Beau Nox, and Rampa, and produced “Celestial.” Sharon is now the first woman signed to the Drake-backed label.
Drizzy hit Instagram to celebrate the release. The rapper confirmed Naomi Sharon as the latest to join the OVO roster.
“@naomisharon I been waiting for this day for too long now where the world finally gets to digest the insane amount of work you have put in since we met,” he wrote. “My dear friend just dropped her single Another Life on OVO SOUND.”
Sharon later responded on her Instagram Story, writing, “Words cannot express how happy I am I can finally share this news with the world. And I cannot thank you enough for this insane opportunity.”
OVO 40 similarly expressed his excitement for Sharon’s debut.
“@naomisharon I’m honoured to be a part of this journey. Im so proud of you and can’t wait for the world to hear the rest of what you’ve been working on. New music out NOW! @ovosound,” he wrote.
Sharon’s new singles mark her first release since 2021. She previously gained steam with singles like “Hills,” “Daughter Of The Sun,” and “1991.” No word on when her debut project on the label will drop but hopefully, it’s sometime this year.

PartyNextDoor Announces New Single After Clearing Instagram Page
PartyNextDoor is dropping a new single tonight.
In the past few weeks, there’s been some indication that the Mississauga singer would return to the fold. He isn’t necessarily the most active person on social media nor does he release a steady stream of music regularly. That only means that it’s a red carpet affair whenever he decides to pop out.
Fans quickly noticed that PND cleared his Instagram page this week. In most cases, that means an artist will be ushering in a new era in their career. At the very least, it’s an indication that new music is on the way.
Though no album was announced, PartyNextDoor will be dropping a new single tonight. OVO Sound, first, announced that there’s a “new sound all 2023” on Twitter, while tagging PND. Then, he shared a post on his Instagram Story that seemed to be some sort of cover art.
Drake took to Instagram shortly after where he confirmed PND would be delivering the goods on Thursday night. The OVO head honcho and PartyNextDoor announced the single, “Her Old Friends.”
PartyNextDoor hasn’t dropped much music since 2020’s PARTYMOBILE. The 15-song effort boasted appearances from Drake, Bad Bunny, and a rare feature from Rihanna. Shortly after, he shared PARTYPACK featuring a number of singles that were previously only available on Soundcloud.
Most recently, PartyNextDoor appeared on Diddy’s single, “Sex In A Porsche” off of the Bad Boy mogul’s upcoming R&B album.
