Pot Patron Saint Snoop Dogg Plans To Once Again Give Up Smoke While Covering The Olympics In Paris: ‘They Can Test Me If They Want To’

Snoop Dogg’s promise to “give up smoke” last year may have been a sales-oriented ruse, but when he’s in Paris covering the Olympics next month, he’s definitely not going to be packing any paraphernalia. During a new interview with Time magazine, the patron saint of pot was asked about whether Paris’ prohibition of his favorite plant would affect his plans.

After assuring writer Sean Gregory that he’s “a very legal guy,” when it comes to keeping up on the rules and regulations of reefer in his international travels, Snoop affirmed, “I plan on going out there and doing NBC Olympic work. Being clean as a book, clean as the athletes. They can test me if they want to. I’m going to be out there doing what I’m supposed to be doing to make sure I bring home the gold. Which is me.”

The Doggfather also offered some salient samples of his sports insights regarding a pair of contrasting, but equally controversial athletes, Caitlin Clark and Sha’Carri Richardson. With regard to whether Clark should have made the Olympic team in basketball, Snoop was adamant: No.

“They ain’t lost in about 18 years,” he recalled. “On the women’s side in basketball, in the Olympics, they know what they’re doing. What they said is basically, she’s great, but I don’t believe she’s gold-medal-worthy until she pulls her stuff in the WNBA. This is a big step from college to the WNBA. I love what she’s done for the sport in general. But you’ve got to understand, these are WNBA players that have been seasoned to do this. And when you’re going for that gold medal, you want your best girls out there.”

For Richardson, he jovially compared his track performance to hers to point out the Olympic committee’s error in classifying cannabis as a performance enhancer. “I just ran a 34.44 in the 200 meters and I was smoking all night. So that sh*t ain’t got nothing to do with helping my time at all. It f*cked my time up, if anything. Unless they got some super sh*t to get you faster. Let me know where it is and I’ll be the first to try.”

Snoop Dogg Is Willing To Go To Any Length For His 2024 Olympic Coverage, Including ‘Get Underwater’

2024 Summer Olympics special correspondent Snoop Dogg is willing to go to any lengths to raise the bar of his coverage in Paris. According to Entertainment Weekly, that even included a promise to reporters at the winter Television Critics Association press tour to “get underwater” to make sure he’s fully prepared and doesn’t miss a story.

“It’s gonna be me in the field, at events, hosting, getting with the athletes, moving through the city,” he said. “Just doing the things Snoop Dogg does.”

As he put it, “We’re planning on shaking it up and doing something different, and just having fun. It’s the Olympics. We only get it once every four years, so we’re going to make the most of it.” However, he made sure to offer some reassurance to sports fans worried he might not do his due dilligence: “I don’t ever come in cold,” he declared. “I always come in hot. So with that being said, don’t worry about the research. I know everything about everyone. We’re gonna be fine.”

Snoop’s laid-back sports commentary has become something of a running gag over the years, as fans look forward to his unique takes on everything from hockey to boxing and everything in between, as illustrated by Peacock’s 2021 broadcast featuring Snoop and Kevin Hart being wowed by a variety of sports they didn’t quite get. You can check that out above.

Snoop Dogg Will Be Bringing His Distinct ‘Snoop Style’ To Join NBC’s 2024 Paris Olympics Coverage

Snoop Dogg will be helping out with some coverage of the Olympics this summer, as he will team up with NBCUniversal in Paris. The news came during the Sunday Night Football halftime on New Year’s Eve.

As for what to expect when Snoop starts helping out on July 26, he’ll be chatting with NBC’s Olympics host, Mike Tirico, and will “explore the city’s iconic landmarks, attend Olympic competitions and events and make visits to the athletes, their friends and families,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. And it will probably be very entertaining, even if you’re not super into sports.

“I grew up watching the Olympics and am thrilled to see the incredible athletes bring their A-game to Paris,” he shared. “It’s a celebration of skill, dedication and the pursuit of greatness. We’re going to have some amazing competitions and, of course, I will be bringing that Snoop style to the mix. It’s going to be the most epic Olympics ever, so stay tuned, and keep it locked. Let’s elevate, celebrate and make these games unforgettable, smoke the competition, and may the best shine like gold. Peace and Olympic LOVE, ya dig?”

As an early teaser, Snoop appeared in a video with Olympic stars from different sports, including “Suni Lee (gymnastics), A’ja Wilson (basketball), Jagger Eaton (skateboarder), and Kelly Cheng and Sara Hughes (beach volleyball),” per the publication.

Back in 2021, Snoop Dogg had also provided some hilarious highlights commentary of the Tokyo Olympics on Peacock — which led to him being picked for primetime.

Megan Thee Stallion Pitched Her ‘Hot Girl Style’ To The Olympics, And It Includes A Fire-Breathing Horse

Megan Thee Stallion is turning horses into hot girls, as she hilariously appears in a new skit for the 2024 Olympic Games. The clip opens with Megan welcoming viewers to “thee Paris Olympics” as she dances alongside some equestrians.

“Look at my hot girl,” she says, as the video cuts to a horse with red highlights to match her own. However, it’s not just any regular horse. This one says “Bonjour” and has wings. And breathes fire.

As it turns out, this is all part of Megan’s fantasy pitch, as she explains her idea to a room of business representatives. “And that, is the Olympics, hot girl style,” she adds.

“What do they not get about this?” the horse says at the end.

While it’s unclear if Megan will appear in any other promotional videos ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, it is still a fun holiday treat.

“As America gathers together today on Thanksgiving, we wanted to surprise the nation with an Olympic moment as big as the holiday, and what better way to do that than with ‘Thee Olympics,’ featuring Megan Thee Stallion and dressage horses at Versailles,” Jenny Storms, NBC Universal’s CMO Of Sports And Entertainment, shared in a statement, via Rolling Stone. “As we approach the new year, even more surprises are in store as we continue to bring to life the biggest media event of 2024 — the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.”

Simone Biles Net Worth 2023: What Is The Olympics Gold Medalist Worth?

In the annals of gymnastic greatness, Columbus, Ohio, in 1997 witnessed the birth of Simone Biles, who would redefine gravity, poise, and excellence. That innocuous visit spiraled into a journey filled with twists, flips, and unparalleled achievements. Fast forward to 2023, this pint-sized powerhouse, with her impeccable routines and unyielding spirit, not only accumulated countless medals but also amassed a net worth of $16 million, as outlined by EssentiallySports.

Michelle Yeoh Nominated For IOC Membership

Michelle Yeoh has been nominated for International Olympic Committee membership. The Oscar-winning actress is a former junior Malaysian squash champion. Additionally, she is one of five people whom the IOC Executive Board has nominated for membership. “These candidates bring added value to the work of the IOC because of their experience and diverse expertise in different walks of life. What they all have in common is their love of sport and their strong belief in the Olympic values and what the IOC stands for,” IOC President Thomas Bach said in a statement. Michelle is a martial arts film legend. However, she earned her Western breakout role in the James Bond film, Tomorrow Never Dies. She became the first openly Asian actress to win an Oscar earlier this year for Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Per ESPN, “The IOC currently has 99 invited members, including a selection of royalty, sports officials, former athletes and leaders from politics and industry. Their main role in the Olympic movement is confirming hosts for the Summer and Winter Games that were selected by the IOC administration and executive board.” The other candidates nominated alongside Yeoh are Israeli judo medalist Yael Arad, Hungarian businessman Fürjes Balázs, Peruvian volleyball medallist and politician Cecilia Roxana Tait Villacorta, and German businessman Michael Mronz.

Yeoh To Be Ratified Next Month

Yeoh’s membership is expected to be ratified next month at the IOC meeting in Mumbai. It’s expected to be a busy session for the Olympic governing body. The new sports for the 2028 Games in LA were expected to be voted on. However, that is in doubt after the IOC postponed a vote on the eight sports earlier this week. Meanwhile, the IOC will also vote on three sporting member elections to IOC membership. Those are Petra Sörling, head of the International Table Tennis Federation, and Kim Jae-youl, head of the International Skating Union. Furthermore, Mehrez Boussayene, President of the Tunisian Olympic Committee, has also been nominated

As mentioned, one of the roles of IOC members is to ratify Olympic host cities. The next available Summer Olympics is 2036, with the host being picked sometime after 2025. Currently, bids have been submitted by Mexico, Indonesia, and Turkey. Meanwhile, Egypt, South Korea, China, India, Qatar, Hungary, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Poland, and Canada may all potentially bid on the Games.

Sha’Carri Richardson Takes Home First Place In 100m Finale

Sha’Carri Richardson is officially a world champion. Earlier today the track and field star nabbed first place in the 100m event. Her first race of 2023 happened back in April. In that race she ran a 10.57, the 4th fastest time ever recorded during the women’s 100m event. In her winning run earlier today she once again turned in an impressive time of 10.65. That time was perhaps even more impressive, as it represents the record time ever run in a championship race.

Richardson first rose to fame when she was suspended just a few weeks before the 2020 Olympics. Her positive test for a banned substance and resulting suspension was roundly criticized and she became a vocal critic of the IOC in the years following. During the 2022 Olympics, a white athlete was allowed to compete despite failing a drug test. That reignited criticism for the IOC both from and on behalf of Richardson. She will get her next opportunity to race for Olympic gold in the 2024 event.

Sha’Carri Richardson’s Championship Record Breaking Race

Earlier this year Sha’Carri Richardson called out ESPN and the ESPY Awards for their neglect of both her career year and track & field athletes at large. “The ESPYS invited me when my life was in shambles as if I was a charity case. The disrespect that track & field receives in the USA alone is nasty. Half of the athletes there now could not do what we do on our WORST day,” she said in a scathing tweet. The post attracted the attention of many athletes and fans of sports that don’t get the same conventional representation as others.

Richardson has had a number of successful events since the 2020 Olympics and her controversial suspension. In the months following she will continue to look towards Olympic tryouts with her eyes set on eventually competing in next year’s Olympic games. What do you think of Sha’Carri Richardson winning the world championship in women’s 100m and breaking the championship race record? Let us know in the comment section below.

Victor Wembanyama Hype Causes Olympic Tickets To Go On Sale Early

Victor Wembanyama may be the hottest name in basketball right now. The French center is the most anticipated NBA prospect since LeBron. He is set to make his stateside debut on July 7 during the first day of the NBA Summer League. Furthermore, clips from Spurs training sessions have already gotten fans hyped up.

However, there’s another sporting event on the mind of the generational prospect. Next year, his home city of Paris will host the Olympic Games. It is the first time that Paris will host the event since 1924, having unsuccessfully bid in 1992, 2008, and 2012. While Wembanyama, a member of the French National Team, opted to skip this year’s FIBA World Cup to focus on preparing for the NBA, he will likely take part in the Olympics barring injury. Wembanyama previously won silver at the 2019 U16 European Championship and the 2021 U19 World Cup. Furthermore, this expectation has influenced some decisions made by the organizing committee.

Paris 2024 Moves Up Basketball Ticket Sales

Tickets for Olympic basketball, handball, sailing, and soccer went on sale on July 4, months earlier than previously expected. All four events are set to take place partially or entirely outside of Paris. Handball and basketball will stage matches in Lille while sailing will take place in Marseille. Meanwhile, soccer will be staged at six venues around the country. The Paris Organizing Committee stated that the decision to move up the sale came after other sports saw huge sales in their opening rounds.

However, other factors are likely in play. The sports in question contain some of France’s biggest athletes – namely Wembanyama and soccer’s Kylian Mbappé. That name-brand appeal will help boost sales, as well as help cover for some of the less pleasant headlines from recent weeks. Paris 2024 is currently under investigation by local prosecutors over corruption charges. Reportedly, these charges stem from concerns about how several lucrative contracts for the Games were awarded. Regardless, tickets will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Hopeful fans around the world had to enter a lottery to try and get the chance to buy tickets. The cheapest tickets reportedly available for the four events cost around $26.
