Tyler The Creator Tops The Charts Again With “CHROMAKOPIA” Amid Hilarious Fan Interactions

Tyler The Creator continues to find massive success with CHROMAKOPIA. The new album hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week (dated November 16) with 160K second-week sales according to Billboard and Luminate. As such, it’s his first chart-topping album to repeat the feat in two consecutive weeks, as CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST went No. 1 once in 2021 and then another time none months later in 2022. It’s the Hawthorne native’s third number one LP overall, including 2019’s IGOR. Also, this was the CHROMAKOPIA‘s first full tracking week, since its Monday morning release resulted in a shortened first tracking week.

Of course, that didn’t stop Tyler, The Creator from getting his most successful commercial performance to date, and it looks like it still won’t stop it from continuing to garner spins. But beyond the numbers game, he’d much rather interact with fans online and talk about what they loved or didn’t love about CHROMAKOPIA. The Odd Future founder asked his followers on Twitter what moments from the album grew on them over time. One fan said that “Sticky” took a few listens to stick, for which he had a hilarious response. “No lie lmfao I realized folks that don’t like that song wear sunscreen by default hahahahaha (I’m generalizing),” T penned.

Tyler The Creator Jokes About The Reception To “Sticky”

What’s more is that this narrative might trigger some fans that weren’t happy with Tyler, The Creator’s remarks on white participation in hip-hop. He didn’t blast it outright, but he did call out that small but vocal minority that seeks to mock and exploit the Black art form rather than respect it, and who gets mad when people call them out for it.

Nevertheless, Tyler, The Creator has a lot to be grateful for regarding CHROMAKOPIA‘s success not just on the charts, but with fellow music lovers. “Real growth, though. Real growth, bro,” he told a Brooklyn crowd during a concert. “I’m not – Listen, I didn’t pick this s**t up ’cause it was cute. I’ve been making music since before I had hair on my d**k, bro. I love this s**t, always have. […] So to keep that, and for the s**t to just continue to do this, 13 years in my career, n***a, how amazing is that? So much gratitude sits under this hubris and this confidence and what they call arrogance. But I really put in the work. So everybody who listened to the album, again, thank you so much.”

Future Ties Eminem With Landmark 10th Number One Album

Future has scored not just one, but two number-one albums on the Billboard 200 this year. He and Metro Boomin teamed up for WE DON’T TRUST YOU last month after more than a year of teasing. In all of that time, they had recorded enough material for an entire second 90-minute album. WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU dropped earlier this month and hit the Billboard 200 over the weekend. Both albums landed with pretty commanding leads over the entire rest of the chart, easily scoring the rapper the 9th and 10th number-one albums of his career.

That accomplishment officially landed him in the top 5 all-time among rappers for number-one albums. Technically he’s tied for 4th with Eminem, who has also scored 10 number-one albums with his 2020 effort Music To Be Murdered By being the most recent. Kanye West comes in at number three having grabbed his 11th chart topper with VULTURES 1 earlier this year. Drake is in second with 13 following the release of For All The Dogs last year. Incredibly despite a lack of recent releases, Jay-Z still leads the way among rappers with an impressive 14 number-one albums.

Future’s New Album Is His 10th Chart-Topper

Later this year, Future and Metro Boomin will take their two new albums on tour. Tickets went on sale last week but the numbers haven’t exactly been spectacular since then. Ticket trackers listed the tour as having sold just half of its available tickets, which contrasts harshly with their commanding number-one albums. Fans of Drake took to the internet to take shots at the pair for their reportedly low ticket sales. Drake and Metro have been beefing on and off since last year and he called out the producer directly in his recently released diss track Push Ups.

What do you think of Future tying Eminem with WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU becoming his 10th number one album? Do you think anybody will be able to surpass Jay-Z soon? Let us know in the comment section below.

Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign React Meekly To “Vultures” Going Number One

Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s collaborative album Vultures just went number one on the Billboard charts despite a lot of release issues plaguing its rollout, plus all the antisemitic bigotry associated with it. All that aside, it seems like the album really connected with fans, and both artists seemingly reacted to this news. Of course, they’ve both boasted about it going number one in a lot fo countries before this Billboard confirmation. “It’s a beautiful time,” Ye stated to Complex, whereas Ty posted a video of himself saying, “Huh? Hm? S**t…” to the haters while holding up one index finger.

Vultures sold around 148,000 units in its first week, and this marks Ty Dolla Sign’s first-ever number one album. On the other hand, this is Kanye West’s eleventh number one album, and he technically hasn’t broken this consecutive streak of chart-toppers if you don’t count his G.O.O.D. Music compilation from 2012 or KIDS SEE GHOSTS with Kid Cudi. Even though they’re both huge artists, they should be grateful for having all this work out in their favor, as they are extremely lucky. Still, when you have as much money and infamy as they do, sample clearance issues become much easier to handle.

Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign’s Vultures 1 Goes No. 1: The Latter Reacts

Another big problem with Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s first collab’s release was its distribution method, as original distributor FUGA took it off streaming services temporarily. “On Friday, February 9, 2024, a long-standing FUGA client delivered the album Vultures 1 through the platform’s automated processes, violating our service agreement,” a statement from the company read. “Therefore, FUGA is actively working with its DSP partners and the client to remove Vultures 1 from our systems.” This resolved itself promptly, though.

Meanwhile, the duo is now looking forward to some European listening events, kicking off in Italy and (at press time) wrapping up in Paris. Perhaps this will be the opportunity they have to celebrate this number one and to celebrate getting a new distributor for it. What do you think about Vultures 1 and how the next installments will shape up? Let us know in the comments and come back to HNHH for the latest on Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign.

21 Savage’s “american dream” Expected To Spend A Second Week At Number One

In 2023 it took almost half the year before any rap album landed at the number one spot on the Billboard 200. Artists like Young Thug, Lil Durk, and Gunna landed in the top 5. But it took Lil Uzi Vert’s Pink Tape to finally hit number one. 2024 didn’t have any such drought. The first new number-one album of the year was 21 Savage’s american dream which hit the top spot last week with over 130k sales in its first week. The album stayed well ahead of other new projects from Kali Uchis and Kid Cudi that came out in the same week.

Now early projections are emerging for next week’s Billboard 200 and it’s good news once again for 21 Savage. The rapper is projected to spend a second week at the very top spot on the charts selling just under 70k copies. The biggest challenger among new albums is pop-punk band Green Day. The veteran band just released their new album, Saviors. It’s their first since 2020’s Father Of All and the new record is projected to sell more than 50k in its first week. Another challenger to the top spot are Morgan Wallen’s massive 2023 effort One Thing At A Time. Drake’s For All The Dogs and Noah Kahan’s Stick Season round out the top 5 of the projection. Check out the full top 20 predictions below.

21 Savage Could Reign The Billboard 200 For A Second Week

The Billboard 200 isn’t the only place where Savage is performing well. Two of the songs from his new album debuted in the top 10 in their first week on the Hot 100. “nee-nah” which featured Travis Scott and Metro Boomin landed at number 10. “redrum” proved to be the album’s breakout hit debuting inside the top 5.

Earlier today, Shannon Sharpe released his new interview with 21 Savage. The rapper appeared on his Club Shay Shay show to discuss a variety of topics. One of the most notable moments came when Savage told the story of being shot on his 21st birthday. He went into incredible detail about his feelings and actions throughout the traumatic event. What do you think of 21 Savage’s new album spending a second week at the top spot on the Billboard 200? Let us know in the comment section below.

21 Savage Earns Fourth Number One Album On Billboard 200 With “American Dream”

Do not look now, but 21 Savage might have one of the great modern rap discographies in recent memory. According to AllHipHop, his third solo studio effort american dream will land at number one on the Billboard Hot 200 chart. This marks his fourth project to achieve this feat. The tapes that also achieved this feat were his collaborations with Drake on Her Loss and SAVAGE MODE II with Metro Boomin. Additionally, 21’s evolution on i am > i was earned him a top placement. His release over the weekend certainly deserved that coveted spot atop the heap with incredible tracks throughout.

Songs like “all of me,” “redrum,” “née-nah” with Travis Scott, and “letter to my brudda” are just a few examples of Savage being in his bag. Stats show that 21 will move close to 150,000 units. Other hip-hop and adjacent records that cracked the top 10 include Kali Uchis’ ORQUÍDEAS and Kid Cudi’s INSANO. The Latin R&B songstress will be around the first five with nearly 63,000 and Mr. Rager hovering close to 45,000.

21, 21, 21 At Number One

Even though 21 Savage did not score number one tapes with Without Warning or the introductory Savage Mode, both are still viewed in high regard. A lot of people know how talented he is. However, the narrative lately is that he is getting repetitive. The opposite is quite true in some regard with american dream. While the approach remains familiar, Savage did bring some much improved writing over his recent features. Additionally, the sample flips and the inclusion of more personal tracks were a nice change. Overall, 21 Savage is seemingly winning a lot of people back, and for good reason.

What are your thoughts on 21 Savage going number one with his brand-new album american dream? Does he possess one of the best modern trap discographies, why or why not? Will he become one of the legends of Atlanta’s trap scene when his career is over? What songs are in your rotation from the project and why? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Nicki Minaj’s 3rd Number One Album Leads All Female Rappers

Earlier this month, Nicki Minaj returned with her highly-anticipated new album Pink Friday 2. The album was a major undertaking sporting 22 tracks and a full 70 minutes of music. Included among them were three already successful singles Nicki had dropped dating back to last year. It also featured a number of high-profile features from other major rappers. Drake, J. Cole, Future, Lil Wayne, Lil Uzi Vert, and more appear at various points across the album.

Unsurprisingly, the album soared to massive success on the charts. 14 of the songs from the album landed on the Hot 100 this week including three in the top 50. “Everybody” featuring Lil Uzi Vert leads the way managing to land in the top 30 despite the massive influx of Christmas charts on the song.
